Gary D. Snively
Gary D. Snively, 60, of St. Marys, died Jan. 31, 2002.

Survivors include one daughter, T.A. Johnson; two sons, David Snively and Jeff Snively; four grandchildren; and one sister, Lela S. Boley. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Riggs Snively in 1996.

Services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at Ruttencutter-Ingram Funeral Home of St. Marys. Burial will be in the Snively Family Farm. Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. today.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Cow Creek United Methodist Church.

Harry E. Snyder
Harry E. Snyder, 91, of St. Marys, died Jan. 15, 2001, at the Marietta Center for Health and Rehabilitation.

He was born Aug. 23, 1909, in Eureka, W.Va., a son of the late William E. and Bessie Wagner Snyder. He was a charter member of the St. Marys Elks Lodge 1701 BPOE, a 50-year member of the St. Marys Lodge 41 A. F. & A. M., a member of St. Marys Chapter 31 Order of the Eastern Star. He was a 1927 graduate of St. Marys High School. He served on the Pleasants County Board of Education and the Pleasants County Commission from 1954-1966. He operated Snyder’s Service Station for 58 years, one of the longest serving dealers for Quaker State. He was a member of the St. Marys Volunteer Fire Department, and was a member of the Dewey Avenue Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Lula Hall Snyder; three sons, James E. Snyder and his wife, Mary Sue of Cocoa, Fla., Terry E. Snyder and his wife, Janet of St. Marys and David Snyder and his wife, Suzi of Newport; six grandchildren, Tom Snyder and his wife, Tamara and Jamie Ray and her husband, Buddy, all of Atlanta, Ga., and Troy Snyder of Toledo, Ohio, Traci Brammer and her husband, B.J. of St. Marys, Justin Snyder and his wife, Cindy and Adam Snyder, all of Newport; six great-grandchildren, Mary Jo and Allison Ray of Atlanta, Ga., Sidney and James Snyder of Atlanta, Gwen Brammer of St. Marys, and Jocee Ankrom of Newport; two brothers-in-law, Jim Smith of Zellwood, Fla., and Julian Israel of St. Marys; one sister-in-law, Nina Snyder of Belmont; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Eva Israel and Virginia S. Smith; and one brother, Roy E. Snyder.

Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at the Ruttencutter-Ingram Funeral Home, St. Marys, Evangelist Chris Mullins officiating. Burial in the St. Marys IOOF Cemetery, St. Marys. Visitation is from 7-9 p.m. today and from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Monna Faye Sole
Monna Faye Sole, 89, of Jameson Street, Parkersburg, passed away Aug. 11, 2002, at her home.

She was born Aug. 4, 1913, in Braxton County, a daughter of the late James Houston and Rebecca Belle Stalnaker Young. Monna was a member of the Parkview United Methodist Church where she had served as Sunday School teacher and sang in the choir.

Survivors include three sons, Dale L. Sole of Parkersburg, Jack L. Sole of St. Marys and Harold E. Sole of Greenbelt, MD.; a daughter, Janice I. Coe of Florence, SC.; seven grandchildren, Michael Sole, Jeffrey Sole, Patrick Sole, Dennis Sole, Diana Sole Furr, Rebecca Coe Poole and Kimberly Coe Gilmore; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Olley French Young of Deerwalk; two sisters, Marjorie Dale Hughes of Wilsie, WV. and Carol Gaskins of Marietta; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard L. Sole; four brothers, Orval Dwight Young, Wiley Ray Young, Berchel Lee Young and Eugene Young; three sisters, Gertrude Blanche Rose, Gladys Ann Clegg and Juanita Young.

The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St., Parkersburg, Rev. Warren Dove officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. today.

Pallbearers will be the great-grandsons, Alan Furr, Daniel Sole, Jeff Sole, Jacob Poole, Caleb Poole, Dustin Sole and Cody Sole.

Memorial donations in memory of Monna Sole can be made to Housecalls Home Health Hospice, 800 Garfield Ave., P.O. Box 718, Parkersburg, W.Va. 26102.

Harryette Benner Soliday
Harryette Benner Soliday, 78, of Columbia, S.C., and formerly of Willow Island and Charlotte, N.C., died May 17, 2002.

She was born in Sistersville to the late Harry Willard and Mamie Kendrick Benner. About three years ago she moved to Columbia with her husband to be near their children.

She is survived by two daughters, Annie Riddle and her husband, Ernie, of Pomaria, S.C., and Jennifer Carter and her husband, Tommy, of Columbia; three granddaughters, Erica Thomas of New York City, Angela Thomas of Pomaria and Emily Urban and her husband, Bobby, of Spartanburg, S.C.; one grandson, Will Thrift and his wife, Ginger of Atlanta; one step-granddaughter, Lorri-Ann Phillips and her husband, Phil of Columbia; two great-grandsons, Zachary and Eddie Urban of Spartanburg; one step-grandson, Trey Phillips of Columbia; one sister, Betty Railing of Sistersville, and nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Arnold J. Soliday, whom she married Nov. 1, 1941, in Sistersville; two brothers, Raymond and Joseph Benner; and two sisters, Alice Stout and Mary Henthorn.

Private services were conducted May 19.

Ida C. Statler
Ida C. Statler, 94, of Belmont, WV, died Feb. 7, 2002.

She was born Nov. 21, 1907, in Monongahela County, a daughter of the late John F. and Leona Belle Tennant. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Shinnston, W and the Eastern Star.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, J. Donald and Janet A. Statler; four grandchildren, Darlene K. Hammett, Sue A. Statler, Andrew J. Statler and Bradford A. Statler; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Mildred Williams; and one brother, Roy Tennant.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Jackson Statler; one sister, Bonnie T. Hall; and one brother, Paul D. Tennant.

Graveside services will be held Saturday at the convenience of the family at the Shinnston Masonic Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Ruttencutter-Ingram Funeral Home of St. Marys is in charge of arrangements

Mollie Steele

Mollie Steele, 77, of St Marys died Nov. 18, 2001, at her residence.

She was born Aug. 31, 1924, at Henry Camp, Pleasants County, a daughter of the late Burl and Virginia Hoff Blouir. She was a member of the Cow Creek United Methodist Church, was a quilter and a good mother and grandmother.

Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Lee Steele; four daughters, Janet Collins and her husband Jim, Karon Malone and her husband Steve, Rita VanMoy, and Robin Lipps and her husband Randy, all of St Marys; one son, Bob Steele and his wife Georgia of Schultz; four sisters, Ruby Perry of Parkersburg, Barbara Lauer of St. Marys, Zara Ingram of Anderson, Ind., and Eileen Sheets of Freemont, Ohio; two brothers, Jack Blouir of St. Marys and Sharkie Blouir of Schultz; 25 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins; and special friends, Margie Mayfield and Louwannah Jemison.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five sons, Gale Steele, Ronnie Steele, Earnest Steele, Miles Steele and Leonard Steele; one son-in-law, Jay VanNoy; two sisters, Ermaleen Perry and Bonnie Nixon; and two brothers, Bob Blouir and Jim Bloiur.

Services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at Willow Island Baptist Church, Willow Island. Pastor Michael C. Hickman officiating. Burial in Willow Island Cemetery. Visitation is from 1-9 p.m. today at Ruttencutter-Ingram Funeral Home, St. Marys and from noon-1 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

Kathryn M. Stewart
Kathryn W. Stewart 86, of St. Marys, WV, died Tuesday, August 14, 2001 at her residence. She was born, July 23, 1915, in Friendly, WV, a daughter of the late Theodore Porter and Rosa Alma Hays. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of St. Marys, worked for Goodyear tires in Akron, and Colin Anderson as a nurses aide.

She is survived one brother, Adrin "Bill" Hays of New Martinsville, WV several nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Stewart, five brothers; Marion Laymand Hays, Truman O. Hays, Porter E. Hays, Charles Robert Hays, and Glenn Oscar Hays, three sisters; Margaret G. Clough, Grace Irene Richmond, and Mildred Naomi Umpleby.

Services will be held Saturday, August 18, 2001, at 11 A. M. at the Ruttencutter-Ingram Funeral Home, St. Marys, WV with Rev. Larry Parker officiating. The burial will be in Friendly Cemetery, Friendly, WV. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P. M Friday and up until service time Saturday.

Charles C. Straight

Charles C. Straight, 94, of Belmont, passed away Nov. 7, 2001, at Carehaven of Pleasants.

He was born Jan. 12, 1907, in Spencer, son of the late James and Ida Straight. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp. during World War II. He had worked for Colin Anderson Center for many years, which he had retired from.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Dorothy Straight; three daughters, Charlotte Boor and her husband, Jim, Pam Bills and her husband, Vic and Renee Houser and her husband, Lewis; three sons, Mike Straight and his wife, Lisa, Gary Blouir and his wife, Janie and Popeye Straight and his wife, Dorothy; 11 grandchildren, Sheila, Annie, Darren, Deanna, Mindy, Lewis, Christopher, Joyel, Eric, Ashley and Adam; 13 great-grandchildren, Jimmy, Shawn, Rebecca, Ashley, Tiffany, Gary, Kasi, Haley, Matthew, Gavin, Mikey, Dalton and Tenton; one sister, Corey Zinn of Toledo, Ohio; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by five brothers, Henry, Doyle, Clarence, Sidney and French Straight; and two sisters, Rosy Wise and Sally Hawthorn.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Ruttencutter-Ingram Funeral Home, with Pastor Chuck Rogers officiating. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery of St. Marys, with military graveside services by American Legion Post 79, VFW Post 222 and AMVETS Post 40. Calling hours are from 4-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Jane W. Sweeney
Jane W. Sweeney, 67, of St. Marys, WV., died Aug. 17, 2002, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Parkersburg.

She was born Dec. 5, 1934, at Attleboro, MA., a daughter of the late Leon Wesley and Dorothy Bennett Wagner. She was a member of the George Street Church of Christ. Jane graduated from LaSalle College, where she received an art degree. She had been employed by Eastern Airlines and had taught school in Alexandria, VA. She was a charter member of the Pleasants County Art League.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Charles R. Sweeney, one son, Timothy L. Sweeney and his wife Charlene, and one daughter, Elizabeth J. Lubic and her husband Mark, all of St. Marys; one granddaughter, Sarah A. Sweeney of St. Marys; four grandsons, Daniel C. Sweeney, David C. Sweeney, Benjamin T. Sweeney and Luke A. Hays, all of St. Marys; and one cousin, Robert B. Perry of Rochester, NY.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Services will be held 4 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2002, at Ruttencutter-Ingram Funeral Home, St. Marys, Evangelist Dan Kessinger officiating. Burial will be in Pleasants Memorial Estates, Eureka, W.Va. The family will receive friends from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. today and until the time of services Tuesday at the funeral home.

Sherman "Jim" Tanzey
Sherman J. Tanzey, 75, of Harrisville died Aug. 11, 2002, in St. Joseph's Hospital, Parkersburg.

He was born Feb. 8, 1927, at Goff's, WV., the son of the late Sherman L. and Beulah Britton Tanzey. Jim served in the U.S. Army in the military police during World War II in Germany and was awarded a World War II Victory Ribbon. He was a member of DAV and retired from Local Labor Union 1085, Parkersburg. He was a Methodist by faith.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Glenda Hardbarger Tanzey; four daughters and sons-in-law, Rebecca and Nick Munday of Glendale, Jeannie and Rod Lane of Waverly, Angie and Tim Ross of Parkersburg and Abby and Mike Ice of Boaz; one sister, Sylvia Tanzey Cutright of Harrisville; one brother, Gene A. Tanzey of Harrisville; four grandchildren, Megan Munday, Karlee and Katie Hendrickson and Elijah Sherman Ice and one step-grandson, Stewart Lane.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Cox and Betty Tanzey; one brother, Frank Tanzey and brother-in-law and dear friend, Ray Cutright.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Raiguel Funeral Home, Harrisville, with the Rev. John Frum and Rev. Carlton Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the Harrisville IOOF Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 3-9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on Wednesday.
