Virginia R. Miller
Virginia R. Miller, (nee) Stump 87 of Lorain died at home Monday morning July 19, 2010 following a brief illness. She was born in Glenville, Gilmer County, West Virginia March 26, 1923 to the late Viola Frances (nee) Allen and Miner H. Stump.
Mrs. Miller moved in 1937 from Gassaway, West Virginia to Lorain, OH where she has been a life long resident. During World War II she worked as a welder for the American Ship Building Company in Lorain with a group of women who were known as Rosie the Riveters. Mrs. Miller enjoyed embroidery work and gardening. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter Deborah J. Beckett of Hinckley, sisters Nellie Rollyson of Gassaway, WV and Betty Edward Strnad of Amherst, Ohio, also a sister-in-law, Arleen Stump of Gassaway, WV, grandchildren, William D. Miller, Jody J. Marinski, Carleen J., Joseph A. Destro and Jeffery, Lindsay Bush and 10 grandchildren.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, son Harold Miller and daughter Linda Miller.
The family received friends and relatives Thursday, July 22, 2010 from 11am until noon in the Walter A. Frey Funeral Home , 700 West Erie Avenue, Loraine, Ohio Funeral Home. The funeral service followed at noon in the funeral home with burial in Ridge Hill Memorial Park Amherst Township. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Associations, 37500 Harvest Drive, Avon, OH 44011.

Ronzal L. ”Sonny” Rader
Ronzal L. “Sonny” Rader, 75, of Gassaway, passed away Thursday, September 30, 2010 at Charleston General Hospital.
He was born October 24, 1934 a son of the Louise Morris and Orlando “Tink” Rader.
He worked for J.C. Baker and Sons, Gassaway.
In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by step-mother, Lola Rader; brother, Billy Rader; sister, Carolyn Rader.
Surviving; sons, Allen Rader of Pinellas Park, FL and Ronnie Rader and wife, Liz of Gassaway; daughter, Marilyn Hinkle and husband, Dennis of Canvas; three grandchildren, Jeremy Rader of Phyllis, KY, Carla Barr of Summersville and Todd Hinkle of Clarksburg; three great grandchildren; two brothers, Fred Rader and Shorty Rader both of Gassaway.
A memorial service was held 11 a.m. Saturday, October 9 at Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with Rev. Johnny Conrad officiating.
Friends were received one hour prior to the memorial service at the funeral home.

Charles William “Bill” Knight
Charles William “Bill” Knight, 89, of Burnsville, died October 4, 2010.
He was born August 22, 1921 in Braxton County a son of the late Charles Wesley and Jessie Barker Knight.
He was a heavy equipment operator, mechanic, timberman and a construction worker; he was an Army veteran of WWII and a member of American Legion Post #33; a member of the Little Kanawha Independent Church, Burnsville.
Surviving are: wife, Ina June Shaver Dennison Knight; sons, Charles William Knight, Jr. of Burnsville, John P. Knight of Delmar, MD and Lawrence W. Knight of Burnsville; daughter, Margaret L. Knight of Westminster, MD; step-daughters, Donna Butler and Jane Murphy both of Exchange; sisters, Helen Harmon of Burnsville and Wardna Russell of Shippensburg, PA; 61 grandchildren and great grandchildren and expecting one great great grandchild.
Bill was preceded in death by wife, Martha Regan Knight
Service were 1 p.m. Friday, October 8 at the Little Kanawha Independent Church, Burnsville with Rev. Ronzal Roberts officiating. Burial with military rites conducted by American Legion Post #33 was in the K of P Cemetery, Burnsville.
Friends called two hours prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to: American Legion Post #33, c/o John Morrison, 4975 Old Turnpike Road, Little Birch, WV 26629.

James A. Cutlip
James A. Cutlip, 76, of Goshen, OH passed away Thursday September 30, 2010 at home. He was born August 19, 1934 in Webster Springs, WV to the late Minter and Bessie Evans Cutlip. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his wife Elaine Tickle Cutlip and step children, one brother Edward D. Cutlip; one sister Glendalyne.
He retired from Crown Steel, Wooster, Ohio.
Visitation was held from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday, October 3, 2010 at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home, Sutton. Funeral Services followed at 3 p.m. by Pastor Wayne Harrison. Burial was at Rose Hill Cemetery, Birch River, WV.

Zoe Ann Byrd
Zoe Ann Byrd, (nee) Gibson passed away. She was the daughter of Elijah and Matilda Gibson, wife of Rubel (deceased) mother of Gloria, Betty, Douglas (deceased), and Kevin. Service is to be held 10/23/10 at Green Hill cemetery at 1 P.M. In lieu of flowers a small donation to the Green Hill and or Gibson cemetery would be appreciated by the family.

Rondal “Ron” Mander Sattler
Rondal “Ron” Mander Sattler, 74, formerly of Gassaway, died October 11, 2010 at his home in Fountain, NC. At his request his body was donated to scientific research. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Dorcas H. Cain
Dorcas H. Cain of Big Bend, West Virginia, passed away on Monday, October 11, 2010.
She was born November 24, 1929, in Friendly, WV and grew up on Spring Run, WV, the daughter of Horace L. Haught and Gwendolyn (Hoskins) Haught.
She was married on November 26, 1953 to Joseph T. Cain. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, one daughter Jane E. Lynch (Keith) and two sons Daniel J. Cain (Barbara) and Richard E. Cain, five grandchildren, Susan, Sarah, and Sam Lynch; and Shaina and Megan Cain.
She is also survived by her brothers James Haught (Wannalee) and H.L. Haught, Jr. (Carol) and many nieces, nephews and many friends.
Preceding her in death were her mother, father and older sister and frequent traveling companion Burdeale Wright (Keith).
She attended Calhoun County High School and graduated from Clendenin High School in 1946. She obtained her degree from Marshall College, now Marshall University and retired from managing Cain Veterinary Clinic.
She loved her grandchildren, traveling, sewing, many pets, music, and teaching. She served the county on the Library Board, president; Board of Education, first elected female; FHA Board, Brooksville PTA, Girl Scout Leader, and various other community services. She loved to read and has given away many hundreds, perhaps thousands of books over the years.
She was a member of the Brooksville Baptist Church where she has taught Sunday school, Bible School and served as librarian. She also belonged to the Phoebe Cunningham chapter of the DAR when it was active in the county.
In lieu of flowers donations may be given to the Calhoun County library fund and she would encourage you to support the library levy.
Funeral services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 14, 2010. Rev. Charles McDonald officiated. Interment was in the Broomstick Cemetery at Five Forks. Visitation was held at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m.

Ora E. “Babe” Stump Minney
Ora E. “Babe” Stump Minney, 86, of Shock, was called home to be with the Lord Monday, October 11, 2010, after an extended illness.
She was born April 4, 1924 in Monongalia County, WV and was a daughter of the late Perle G. and Rose E. Stump. With her marriage to Elder Rodney C. Minney September 2, 1942, she moved to Gilmer County where she lived for the remainder of her life. She was saved and baptized into the Frozen Run Baptist Church in 1955 and remained faithful to the Lord until her death.
She was a retired teacher in the West Virginia School System having taught in both Gilmer and Calhoun counties until she retired with 30 years service.
Ora was preceded in death by her husband, Elder Rodney C. Minney and four children, Arlys Bryant Minney, Joseph Wayne Minney, Connie Rose Minney and Meredith Matthew Minney.
Surviving are two sons, Elder Mark C. Minney of Perkins and Randy G. Minney of Shock, seven grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, October 15, 2010 at 11 AM at the Lower Steer Run Baptist Church at Normantown. Elder Bill James officiated. Interment was in the Miller Cemetery at Shock. Friends called at the Stump Funeral Home in Arnoldsburg from 6 to 9 PM Thursday.

William LeRoy Riegert
William LeRoy Riegert, 75, of Craigsville, WV departed this life November 5, 2010 at Summerville Memorial Hospital, Summerville, WV. He was born on May 13, 1935 in Chicago, IL to the late Enos Joseph and Jane Smith Riegert.
He worked in the oil fields as a painter and was an Army Veteran.
William was preceded in death by his parents and four children.
Surviving are his wife: Charmie Pritchard Riegert of Craigsville; sons: Bobby Riegert and Paul Riegert of Kinnefick, TX, Lee Riegert of Mt. Bellview, TX, and Pat Riegert of Craigsville, WV; daughter: Sandra Rowell of Ashley, IL; brothers: Jimmy Riegert of Albuquerque, NM, Andy Riegert of Chicago, IL, Art Riegert of Los Vegas NV; sisters: Sandra Riegert of Cape Girardeau, MI, Janet Prichard of Albuquerque, NM; 18 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
Greene-Robertson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
