Lottie Wyatt, age 77, of Buena Vista, Virginia, formerly of Huntersville, died Sunday, March 28, 2004, at Shenandoah Valley Health Care.
A native of Paynesville, she was born December 31, 1926, the daughter of the late Ambrose and Mary Cooper Mullens. Thirteen brothers and sisters are deceased.
She was a member of Huntersville Baptist Church and formerly worked as a laundry worker at Denmar Hospital.
Mrs. Wyatt is survived by three daughters, Eve Loudermilk, of Lexington, Virginia, Wilma Dale, of Marlinton, and Mary Layne, of Leesburg, Indiana; two sons, Danny Wyatt and Aaron Wyatt, both of Warsaw; a brother, England Mullens, of McDowell County; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Huntersville First Baptist Church by the Rev. Jerry Moore. Burial will be in the family plot at Huntersville Cemetery.
Harry Walter Jordan
Harry Walter Jordan, age 81, of Marlinton, died at his home on Wednesday, May 26, 2004.
Mr. Jordan was a retired Fire Tower Watchman for the United States Forestry Service. He attended the Nazarene Church.
Born October 12, 1922, at Woodrow, he was the son of the late Frank and Martha Galford Jordan.
In addition to his parents, those preceding him in death were two sisters, Ruby Zarotney and an infant; and four brothers, Ellis Jordan and three infants.
He is survived by his wife, Corenia McFadden Jordan; a daughter, Regina Jordan McPaters; a son, Earl H. Jordan; a brother, Jesse Jordan; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at VanReenen Funeral Home Saturday afternoon by the Rev. Bill Krumpf and Earl Michael. Burial was in the Cochran Cemetery.

Larry Broyles
Larry Broyles died Tuesday, July 6, at Allegheny Regional Hospital.
No arrangements have been made at press time. The body is at VanReenen Funeral Home.
George Castle
George Castle, age 61, of Wyandotte, Michigan, died February 25, 2004.
A graveside service was held on Saturday, July 3, at the Gibson Cemetery with Pastor Sam Felton officiating and military honors by the Pocahontas Honor Guard.
He was born in Michigan on April 26, 1942, the son of George and Marian Castle, of Gladwyn, Michigan.
In addition to his parents, survivors include his wife, Susie Castle (granddaughter of Willie and Stella Gibson); one son, George Castle, IV, of Monroe, Michigan; one granddaughter; and one step-granddaughter.
Agnes Helen Gross
Agnes Helen Gostomski Gross, age 96, died Friday, July 2, 2004, at Pocahontas Center, Marlinton.
Born September 21, 1907, in Baltimore, Maryland, she was the son of the late John and Agnes Landowski Gostomski.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Joseph Gross is deceased, having died July 2, 1974, and three sisters and two brothers are also deceased.
She is survived by a son, William Gross, of Joppa, Maryland; three daughters, Annette Powell, of Baltimore, Joan Berndette Beverage, of Droop, and Gail Burns, of Ronceverte; eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was Sunday evening at VanReenen Funeral Home in Marlinton and at Cvach-Rosedale Funeral Home Tuesday in Rosedale, Maryland.
Christian Burial Mass was Wednesday morning at St. Clement Church, Rosedale, Maryland, by Father Richard. Burial was in the Gardens of Faith, Garden of The Resurrection, in Overlea, Maryland.
Lena M. Wagner
Lena M. Wagner, age 95, of Painesville, Ohio, formerly of Frank, died Friday, June 25, 2004, at Altercare of Mentor in Concord Township, Ohio.
Mrs. Wagner retired in 1968 from working at the Painesville Township Schools. She was a member of the Painesville Church of The Nazarene.
She was a native of Bartow, where she was born June 30, 1908.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, in 1993, and by her sister, Hazel Tracy, and brothers, Brady, Virgil, and Paul Spencer.
Surviving her are a son, Samuel Robert Wagner, of North Jackson, Ohio; two daughters, Mrs. Peggy Collins and Mrs. Jeanne Gragg, both of Painesville; three sisters, Margie Simmons, also of Painesville, Marie Wooddell, of Meadville, Pennsylvania , and Nellie Malcomb, of Lakeland, Florida; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services were held on June 28 at Frank Church of the Nazarene in Frank, with burial in the Arbovale Cemetery.
James L. Mace, Sr.
James L. Mace, Sr., age 77, of Baltimore, Maryland, died Tuesday, June 22, 2004.
Mr. Mace was born December 6, 1924, in Pocahontas County, the son of Truman and Hattie Jackson Mace.
He was the husband of the late Reba R. Kirkpatrick Mace; father of Jeannette Alex, James L. Mace, Jr., and Douglas N. Mace, Sr. He was the brother of Delbert, Bertha, Rella and Hazel. He had four grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren; one great-grandchild, and three step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the family-owned Duda-Ruck Funeral Home of Dundalk, Inc., with interment at the Holly Hill Memorial Gardens.
Mary Wotring Shafer
Mary Wotring Shafer, age 90, of Rt. 1, Marlinton, died Monday, July 19, 2004, at Pocahontas Memorial Hospital.
A native of Morgantown, she was born August 1, 1913, the daughter of the late Daniel Jefferson Wotring and Madge Cloay Mundell Wotring.
She attended college for two years and came to Pocahontas County as the bride of the late Walter Fredrick Shafer. Mr. Shafer, a son, Fred, a sister, Eleanor Wotring, and five brothers, Earnest, Daniel, James, William, and Donald Wotring, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Shafer was the owner and operator of The Pines Restaurant. She was a member of the Marlinton Presbyterian Church, a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Edray Farm Women, Marlinton Woman's Club, Business and Professional Women's Club, and Pocahontas Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Ann Carter, of Chesapeake, Ohio, and Mary Lee Roy, of Marlinton; five sons, Philip Shafer, Tom Shafer, Bill Shafer, and Jack Shafer, all of Marlinton, and Joe Shafer, of Harrisonburg, Virginia; a sister, Barbara Ann Warsinsky, of Morgantown; 23 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at the Marlinton Presbyterian Church at 3:00 Thursday afternoon by the Rev. Greg Moore, with burial at Mountain View Cemetery.
Daisy N. Hayslett
Daisy N. Hayslett, age 90, of Rt. 1, Marlinton, died Monday, July 19, 2004, at Pocahontas Memorial Hospital.
The daughter of the late Ligon and Bessie Jackson Mace, she was born on Elk Mountain November 23, 1913.
Her husband, John Hayslett, preceded her in death. Others preceding her in death were her parents, three sisters, Susie Ramsey, Goldie Armstrong, and Brownie Mace, and five brothers, Willie Mace, Luther Mace, Clyde Mace, George Mace, and John Mace.
Surviving her are three sons, Robert C. Mace and Kenneth Mace, both of Newport News, Virginia, and Johnny Hayslett, of Marlinton; four sisters, Annie Bowers, of Marlinton, Betty Armstrong, of Buckeye, Mary Grace Hanna, of Alderson, and Evelyn Turner, of Stony Bottom; and three brothers, Julian Mace and Dale Mace, both of Durbin, and Lewis Mace, of Ridgeley.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Thursday at VanReenen Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Betty Shields, with burial in Mountain View Cemetery.
Ronnie McMullen
Ronnie McMullen, age 69, of Hot Springs, Virginia, died after a battle with cancer on July 15, 2004.
Mr. McMullen was born November 25, 1934, in Bath County, the son of the late Charles Franklin and Edith Accord McMullen.
Mr. McMullen was retired from The Homestead after 40 years of service. He was a member of the Virginia Chapel United Methodist Church, Warm Springs Masonic Lodge No. 265, a past member of the Bath County School Board, a charter member of the Bath County Cancer Support Group, and worked with Relay for Life.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Carolyn Burns McMullen, of Hot Springs; children, Mike McMullen, of Frost, and Julie Dean, of Hot Springs; three brothers, Clarence F. McMullen and Arthur McMullen, both of Hot Springs, and Conley A. McMullen, of Vinton, Virginia; a sister, Estaline Bower, of Hot Springs; four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Madie G. McMullen.
At Mr. McMullen's request, his remains were cremated.
A memorial service was conducted Sunday afternoon at the Virginia Chapel United Methodist Church by the Rev. Debbie Carey and the Rev. Tom Stanley.
