Elder Kenneth Earl Cadle, age 92, of Crestview, Florida, died Wednesday, April 11, 2007, at Silvercrest Manor in Crestview.
He was a member and former pastor of Palm Chapel Primitive Baptist Church in Crestview. His other pastorates include West Virginia churches in Craigsville, Greenville, and Webster Springs and the Enterprise Church in Alabama. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ for 60 years.
Preceding him in death were his wife of 68 years, Gladys "Patty" McComb Cadle; parents, Paris and Melvina Cadle; brothers, Elijah, French, Willis, Virgil, and Emery Cadle; sisters, Glenna Cadle, Ora Dodd, Ethel Lilly, Norma Rice, and Garnet Winkiewicz; granddaughter, Sheila Cadel, and grandson, Alden Cadle.
Survivors include his sons, Keith Cadle and David Cadle, of Crestview, Jerry Cadle, of Springboro, Ohio; six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; and brother, Elder Ernest Cadle, of Coal City.
Funeral service was held Saturday at Palm Chapel Primitive Baptist Church, Crestview, with Elders Lasserre Bradley, Jr., and Michael Green officiating. Interment was in Liveoak Park Memorial Cemetery in Crestview.

William L. Simmons
William L. “Bill” Simmons, age 82, of Hillsboro, died Sunday, May 13, 2007, at Pocahontas Memorial Hospital in Buckeye.
Bill was a retired United States Navy Chief, was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, Hillsboro, and was a member of the Oddfellows Lodge.
He was born March 13, 1925, at Cornstalk, the son of the late George Hampton Simmons and the late Nellie W. Suttle Simmons Jones.
In addition to his parents, his brothers, Marion and Elmer Simmons, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Workman Simmons; three daughters, Kathy “Kay” Bostic, of Orange, Virginia; Karen Anderson, of St. Marys, and Kyle “Candy” Persinger, of Tennessee; two sisters, Mary Ann Beverage, of Hillsboro, and Dora Lee Brown, of Stuarts Draft, Virginia; one brother, Calvin Simmons, of Winchester, Virginia; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at VanReenen Funeral Home Wednesday evening.
Funeral service will be at the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, Hillsboro, at 2 p.m. Thursday, Rev. Ed Vallandingham officiating. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Hillsboro with military rites.
Richard Edward Arbogast
Richard Edward Arbogast, age 58, of Marlinton, died Friday, May 11, 2007, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Roanoke, Virginia.
He was born July 18, 1948, at Marlinton, the son of Charles H. and Nellie S. Sheets Arbogast.
He worked as a mason, and had served in the United States Army. He was a Presbyterian. Surviving him are his wife, Donna S. Clutter Arbogast; a daughter, Ashley Nicole Arbogast, of Madison; two sons, John David Arbogast, of Lewisburg, and Charles R. Arbogast, of Elkton, Virginia; a sister, Bonnie Hicks, of Monterey, Virginia; three brothers, Charles G. Arbogast, of Hillsboro, Alan Michael Arbogast, of Loveland, Colorado, and Timothy Amos Arbogast, of Longmont, Colorado; and two grandchildren.
A sister, Tena Dean, is deceased.
Funeral service Wednesday afternoon, May 16, at VanReenen Funeral Home by the Rev. Cameron Harkness, with burial in the Arbovale Cemetery.
Alfred R. Gum, Jr.
Alfred Renick Gum, Jr., age 48, died April 26, 2007, in Pocahontas Memorial Hospital, Buckeye, from injuries received in an automobile accident which occurred near Marlinton.
He was born July 21, 1958, in Roxboro, North Carolina, to the late Alfred Renick Gum, Sr., and Mable Louise Kirkpatrick Gum.
Alfred, Jr., graduated from Pocahontas County High School in 1976, attended Potomac State College of West Virginia University 1976-1978, and received the B.S. Degree in Agriculture & Physical Science from Morehead State University, Morehead, Kentucky, in 1981.
He is survived by his aunts, M. Maxine Kirkpatrick, Huntington, Ruth G. Ruckman, Angier, North Carolina, Mildred K. Sharp, Roanoke, Virginia; uncles Max L. Gum, Buckeye, M. Max Kirkpatrick, Kitts Hill, Ohio, and James F. Kirkpatrick, South Charleston.
He was a farmer and was employed by Hammond and Mitchell, Inc., Covington, Virginia, as a herdsman on the Falling Springs Salers and Angus Farms.
James Ray Motter, age 73, of South Charleston, formerly of Green Bank, died May 3, 2007, at Hubbard Hospice House after a long illness.
He was a Veteran, having served in the United States Marine Corps. He was a member of Davis Creek Freewill Baptist Church and was a retired Correctional Officer for the State of West Virginia.
He was preceded in death by a son, James Ray Motter, Jr., and parents, Cecil P. and Lucille M. Motter.
Surviving him are his wife, Wanda Motter; son, Mark Motter, of South Charleston; brother, Cecil P. Motter, of Alabama; and sister, Delores Bradshaw, of South Charleston.
Service was held May 5 at Good Shepherd Mortuary, South Charleston, with the Rev. Clarence Hutton and the Rev. Gene Pauley officiating. Burial was at Graceland Memorial Park with military rites by VFW Post 4768 of Alum Creek.
Clara Belle Craft
Clara Belle Craft, age 65, died Friday, May 11, 2007, at her home in Frankford.
Mrs. Craft was born June 19, 1941, in Neola, the daughter of the late Gratten C. and Thelma Lee (Ryder) Rider.
She was a homemaker and was a member of the Graystone Baptist Church.
Preceding her in death were her parents, son-in-law, Randy Peyton, and her brothers, Thornton and Ronald Ryder.
Surviving her are her husband, Richard E. Craft; stepmother, Mabel Rider, of Marlinton; two daughters, Clara Martha Kendrick, of Germantown, Maryland, and Barbara Joan Craft, of Alexandria, Virginia; son, Gratten C. Craft, of Ronceverte; one granddaughter; sister, Delores Warren, of Phoenix, Arizona; and three brothers, Bobby Ryder and Paul Rider, of Smoot, and Charles Ryder, of Alvon.
Funeral service was held Monday, May 14, at Graystone Baptist Church in Fairlea by the Rev. Youel Altizer and the Rev. Mark Brandon, with burial in Alvon Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

The Rev. Paul F. Suttle
The Rev. Paul F. Suttle, of Lewisburg-Clintonville, died Monday, April 23, 2007.
He was born November 5, 1935, in Cornstalk. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charley Suttle and Kathleen Tincher; his brother, Edgar Suttle, and his youngest son, Paul Michael Suttle.
Paul served the congregations of the Richlands United Methodist Churches for the past five years and the East Greenbrier Charge at White Sulphur Springs for nine years. He enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle and touring our country with his son, Charles.
Rev. Suttle was a United States Army veteran with more than 20 years of service. First Sergeant Paul Suttle retired from service in 1975 and was awarded many citations. In 1958 he was awarded the Distinguished Leadership Award from the Noncommissioned Officers Academy while stationed in Germany with the Seventh Army. He graduated from the Artillery Drill Sergeant School at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, in 1968. He served two tours of duty in Korea on the border between North and South Korea.
He was in Vietnam from October 1966 through November 1967, serving with the First Infantry Division of the Big Red One. The slogan for the unit was “No Mission Too Difficult, No Sacrifice Too Great, Duty First.” He applied this slogan to his ministry.
He re-enlisted in the Army to serve a second term in Vietnam. His awards for his Vietnam service are numerous. They include the National Defense Service Medal (Oak Leaf Cluster), Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal (6th award), Army Accommodation Medal (1st Oak Leaf Cluster), Vietnam Service Medal, 2 Overseas Bars, Armed Services Expeditionary Medal, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Presidential Unit Citation ( Army), Bronze Star with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters. He is survived by his wife of more than 50 years, Betty J. Suttle; daughters, Elizabeth Hitchcock and Kathy Row, of Lawton, Oklahoma, Sharon Byerly, of Lexington, North Carolina; son, Charles Suttle, of Lexington, North Carolina; 13 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
He was the brother-in-law of Raymond J. Cochran, of Marlinton, and the first cousin of Mary Ann Beverage, of Hillsboro.
Funeral service was at Calvary United Methodist Church on April 26 with the Rev. Mark W. Flynn and the Rev. Buck Caldwell officiating.
William "Bill" McCoy
William Oakley "Bill" McCoy, age 50, of Droop Mountain, died June 13, 2007, at Appalachian Regional Hospital in Beckley.
Mr. McCoy was born December 13, 1956, in Baltimore, Maryland, the son of Thomas McCoy, Sr., of Droop Mountain, and the late Ruth Workman McCoy. Bill was also preceded in death by his brother, Tommy McCoy.
Survivors include two daughters, Crystal and Tiffany McCoy Hodge, of Renick; companion, Irene Kauffman, of Droop; stepfather, Leo McCoy, of Fairlea; brother, Rick McCoy, of Dunbar; sister, Teresa Hodge, of Renick; nieces, Courtney Gillilan and Amanda McCoy; nephews, Mitch, Tracy, L. T. McCoy and Jarod Hodge; great-nephew, Jesse McCoy.
Service was held Friday at Morgan Funeral Home, Lewisburg, Burial followed at the McCarty Cemetery, Droop Mountain.
Helen J. Pyles Radice
Helen J. Pyles Radice, of North Bergen, New Jersey, died May 26, 2007.
She was the daughter of the late Hallie and Verle Pyles, of Buckeye.
Mrs. Radice is survived by two sisters, Bernice Cardiges and Jean Humphreys, one brother, Verle Lee Pyles, five children and five great-grandchildren.
