Linda Darlene Shepherd

Linda Darlene Shepherd, 44, of Barboursville, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, December 21, 2003. She passed away at St. Mary's Medical Center after an extended illness. Funeral services in celebration of her life were conducted Saturday, December 27, 2003, at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, by Pastor Winford Curry. Burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. She was born February 9, 1959, in Huntington, a daughter of Eloise Scarberry Carter of Barboursville, and the late Harold Carter. She was an employee of Alcon Manufacturing for 22 years. She was preceded in death by her brother, Harold Carter and her sister, Creldia Lee Carter. She is also survived by her loving husband of 25 years, Dallas; two sons, Dallas Lee and Garrett Shepherd; one sister, Cecelia Meadows of South Point, Ohio; one brother, Nathan Carter of Charleston, South Carolina; nieces, Sarah, Becky, Michelle, and Shelly and uncle, Alvin Ray Felix; and her sister in Christ, Kerry Johnson. Linda was known as a kind and giving person always putting others' needs ahead of her own. She was loved and well-respected by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Linda was a “Light” in the world and her brightness will be greatly missed.

Beulah Ann Hinchman

Beulah Ann Hinchman, 70, of Barboursville, W.Va., wife of Richard Hinchman, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 24, 2003. She was born December 12, 1933, in Logan County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Garrett and Rachel Moore Clark. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Lisa Hinchman, Kevin and Donna Hinchman and Sidney and Beverly Hinchman, all of Barboursville; she is also survived by four sisters and one brother, Helen Walls of Johnson City, Tenn., Coleen Hoffnagle of El Toro, Calif., Sylvia Starr of Johnson City, Tenn., Pat Sydnor of Huntington and Buhl Jacob Clark of Barboursville; grandchildren, Caleb Hinchman, John Hinchman, Brady Hinchman, Zane Fleming and Rory Carter; a special friend, Margaret Blankenship. She was retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Pallbearers were Jeff Clark, Brian Clark, Jeff Williams, Ryan Williams, Brent Blankenship and Joe Blankenship. Honorary pallbearers were Charlie Beckelheimer and Jim Castle. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, December 27, 2003, at the Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel, Barboursville, by the Rev. Scott Ferguson. Burial in the Hinchman Family Cemetery.

Ina Mae Meadows

Ina Mae Meadows, 86, of Culloden, widow of Emmett Meadows died Tuesday, December 23, 2003, in Putnam General Hospital, Hurricane. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, December 27, 2003 at Heck Funeral Home, Milton with Rev. Joe Dolen officiating. Burial in Valley View Memorial Park, Hurricane. She was born, December 24, 1916, in Glenwood, a daughter of the late Larry Cornelius Smith Meadows. She was Methodist by faith. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dallas and Peggy Meadows of Culloden; one granddaughter and her husband, Tiffany and David Jenkins of Milton; one brother, Hershell Meadows of Milton; one sister, Inez Woodward of Coshocton, Ohio; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

Madeline M. Jones

Madeline M. Jones, 75, of Ona, W.Va., went to be with the Lord and loved ones Monday, December 22, 2003. Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 24, 2003, at the Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel. Burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. She was born August 22,1928, in Cabell County, a daughter of the late Virgil and Pearl Perry Jarrell. She was retired from Owens-Illinois. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rex R. Jones, three brothers and two sisters. She is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Drema and Homer Weatherholt, and Kathy Howard; four grandchildren, Stacy Jackson and his wife Angle and their children Stasia and Brooke, Cheri Carr and her husband Chad and their daughter Lindsey, Heather Jackson and her fiance John Good and her children Kyla and Zachary, and Tamara Mallero and her husband Rick; and a special friend, Rose Emerson. Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, was in charge of arrangements.

Juanita Frazier

Juanita Frazier, 84, of Milton passed away Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003, in St. Mary's Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted Monday, Dec. 22, 2003, at Heck Funeral Home, Milton with Dr. T.J. DuBose officiating. Burial in Forest Memorial Park, Milton. Juanita was born Nov. 27, 1919, in Cabell County, a daughter of the late Elza and Halcy Jefferson Miller. She was also preceded in death by her husband Donald Frazier. She was a member of the Alpha Delta Cappa Theta Chapter. She is survived by her son, James F. Frazier; one sister and brother-in-law, Reba and Glenn Snodgrass; two grandsons, Joshua James Frazier and Thomas Harrison Frazier, and three nieces, Linda Klodowski, Annette Butler and Carolyn Alexander.

Raymond L. Hensley Sr.

Raymond L Hensley Sr., 78, of Milton died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003, in St. Mary's Medical Center. He was born June 27, 1925, in Barboursville, to the late Thomas Jefferson Hensley and Alma Walker Hensley. He was a life-long resident of Cabell County and was retired from Houdaille Industries. He was an avid nurseryman who was best known for his innovative intermittent mist propagating system. Survivors include his wife, Doris Gibson Hensley; one son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Debbie Hensley; two daughters and sons-in-law, Victoria and Scott Tobin and Lucinda Hensley and Larry Arnold; three grandchildren, Joanna Carabello, Melissa Schofield and Ryan Michel Arnold; three great-grandchildren, Rebecca Schofield, Amelia Schofield and Adam Carabello; three stepdaughters, Vicki Sowards, Kathy Holly and Karla Tackett; and five step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Alene Altizer Hensley. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy. Graveside services were held Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003, in Ridgelawn Memorial Park with Pastor Brady K. Lipscomb officiating. In lieu of flowers. the family requests donations be made to the Huntington City Mission.

Holly Erin Hinchman

Holly Erin Hinchman, infant died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003, in Cabell Huntington Hospital. She was the daughter of Sidney and Beverly Hinchman of Barboursville, W.Va. She is survived by two brothers, Zane Fleming at home and John Hinchman of New Orleans, La. She is also survived by her grandparents, Richard and Beulah Hinchman of Barboursville, Saundra Harris of Chesapeake, Ohio, and Howard and Sue Callebs of Ashland, Ky. Other family members include her aunts and uncles, Richard and Lisa Hinchman, Kevin and Donna Hinchman, all of Barboursville, Jeff and Lisa Riley of Huntington and Rick and Ann-Marie Callebs of Wellston Ohio; and cousins, Meg Riley, Natalie Riley, Bryan Callebs, Caleb Hinchman and Brady Hinchman. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003, at the Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel Barboursville, by the Rev. Pat Elliott. Burial in Hinchman Family Cemetery, Barboursville.

Elder Virgil Edward Belville

Elder Virgil Edward Belville, 80, of Huntington went to be with the Lord Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004. He was the son of the late Wilbert and Pinkie Aliff Belville. He was born Dec. 19,1923. He was an ordained minister since 1962 and pastored several churches in the Tri-State area. He was a member of the Bride of Christ United Baptist Church Chesapeake, Ohio, a member of Masonic Lodge #497 F & AM, South Point, Ohio, a veteran of World War II and retired from Chessie Systems with 25 years of service and the Plumbers and Pipe Fitters local # 521, a 50 year member. Preceding him in death were a son, Stephen Edward Belville two sisters, Helen Belville and Evelyn Sowards; and two brothers, Wilford and Everett Belville. Surviving are his wife of 35 years, Mary Perry Beville; three daughters and a son-in-law, Judy Bowen of Milton, Naomi Gall Scarberry and her husband Charles of Proctorville, Ohio, and Pinkie Holschuh of Willow Wood, Ohio; a stepdaughter, Karen Dee Stowasser and her husband Teddy Lee of Milton, W.Va.; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; a sister, Kathryn Dillon of Proctorville, Ohio; and a brother and his wife, Bernard and Naomi Belville of Gulfport, Fla. Funeral services were conducted 2 pm Friday, Feb.. 20, 2004, at Bride of Christ United Baptist Church with Brother Heron Adkins officiating. Entombment in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. Chapman's Mortuary was in charge of arrangements. Expressions of sympathy may be extended to the family at chapmans-mortuary.com.

Sandra Kay Hensley

Sandra Kay Hensley, 63, of Huntington passed away Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004, in St. Mary's Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted Friday, Feb. 20, 2004, at Lewis Memorial Baptist Church by Dr. David Lemming. Burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. She was born Feb. 20, 1940, in Blooming Rose, W.Va., a daughter of the late Bruce Barker and Ossie Chandler Barker. She was a member of Lewis Memorial Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Richard E. Hensley; one son and daughter-in-law, Richard Bruce “Rich” and Danita Hensley of Huntington; one sister, Mary Lou Perdue of Racine, W.Va.; one brother, Bobby Barker of Ovapa, W.Va., and four grandchildren Rachael, Kayla, Laura and Kyle. Wallace Home, Barboursville, was in charge of arrangements.

Dallas Bernard Holley

Dallas Bernard Holley, 91, of Huntington passed away Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004, in Cabell Huntington Hospital. Funeral services were conducted Friday, Feb. 20, 2004, at Mount Olive United Methodist Church, Milton with the Rev. Ray Sovine officiating. Burial in Forest Memorial Park, Milton. He was born April 4, 1912, a son of the late Walter Washington and Malinda Ora Miller Holley. He was also preceded in death by four brothers and one sister. He is survived by his loving wife, Eva Alford Holley; one son, Dallas “Cub” Holley; one daughter, Betty Camp; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Bernard was a member of Mount Olive United Methodist Church. Heck Funeral Home, Milton was in charge of arrangements.

Olen C. Caldwell

Olen C. “Slim” Caldwell, 76, of Hurricane died Sunday, February 15, 2004, at home following a short illness.

Born February 19, 1927, he was a Baptist, Navy veteran of World War II, and member of American Legion Post 187. Over the years he worked for Dickerson Construction, Mountain State, Valley Equipment and retired from G.E. Ray/Danis Industries. He enjoyed his camp on the Greenbrier River.

Surviving: wife, Imogene Thornton Caldwell; sons, Carl Caldwell and wife, Teresa, of Hurricane, Steve Caldwell and wife, Debbie, of Hurricane; daughters, Barbara Sovine and husband, Bud, of Scott Depot, Ann Moore of Hurricane, and Christie Skinner of Hurricane; seven grandhcildren; seven great-grandchildren.

Service was held Wednesday, February 18, 2004, at Allen Funeral Home, Hurricane, with the Rev. Jim McGehee officiating. Burial was in Allen Cemetery on the Caldwell Farm.

Huston R. King

Huston Richard “Hootie” King, 59, of Nitro died February 14, 2004, at home.

He was a former employee of ColubiaGas.

He was preceded ind eath by his wife, Terry S. King, and father, Golden S. King.

Surviving: daughter, Tammy and husband, Wayne Harmon of Cross Lanes; mother, Victoria a. Roach of Scott Depot; sister, Patsy Hanson of Nitro; brother, Clifton “Tippy” King of Red House; granddaughters, Adrea and Anessa Harmon; stepfather, Hurshell A. Roach; stepsister, Linda Hesson.

Service was held Tuesday, February 17, 2004, at Gatens Funeral Home, Poca, with the Rev. Harold Harmon officiating. Entombment was in Haven of Rest Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Red House.

Memorial donations may be sent to Kanawha Hospice Care, 1143 Dunbar Avenue, Dunbar WV 25064.

Gladys M. Lovejoy

Gladys M. Lovejoy, 85, of Norwich, Ohio died February 11, 2004 at Genesis Bethesda Hospital.

Born April 23, 1918 in Putnam County, she was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Robert Lovejoy Sr. who died February 1, 1988, parents, Clarence and Osie Davis, brother, Gordon Davis, daughters, Betty Rogers and Helen Lovejoy, three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Surviving: son, Milton Lovejoy of Dover, Carl Lovejoy of Norwich, John Lovejoy and Ronald Lovejoy, both of New Concord, Charles Lovejoy Jr. of Zanesville, Wayne and Frank Lovejoy, both of Norwich; daughters, Ella Mae Edwards of New York, Pansy Mason of Virginia and Dorothy Clark of Cambridge; sisters, Goldie Priddy of Marion, Garnett Shue and Gaynell Legg, both of Winfield; 38 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren.

Service was held Saturday, February 14, 2004 at DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home with Evangelist Richard Harris officiating. Burial was in Norwich United Methodist Cemetery.

Lucy V. White Ennis

Lucy V. White Ennis, 82, of Scott Depot, formerly of St. Albans, died February 19, 2004, at her home.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Woodrow White and Henry E. Ennis, her sisters, Ruby Cobb and Evelyn Boring, and her borhter, Richard and herbert Moore.

She was an active member of the Church of Christ, St. Albans, and was also actively involved with the Hansford Senior Center, St. Albans.

Surviving: son, Robert White of Scott Depot; daughter, Roseann Saunders of Columbia, Tennessee, sister, Betrtha Abbott of Amma; brother, Clyde Moore of Looneyville; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

Service was held Sunday, February 22, 2004, at Chapman Funeral Home, Teays Valley, with Minister Sean McCalister officiating. Burial was in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.

Kara Denise Smith

Sara Francis and Kara Denise Smith, twin sisters, of Hurricane were stillborn on February 21, 2004, in Cabell Huntington Hospital.

Deal Funeral Home, Pt. Pleasant, was in charge of arrangements.

Ora Fay Pullen

Ora Fay Pullen, 76, of Hurricane died Saturday, February 21, 2004, in St. Francis Memorial Hospital after a short illness.

She was a member of the Hurricane Church of Christ.

Surviving: children, Richard and Becky Pullen of Hurricane, Lola and Gary Gue of Portage, Indiana; grandchildren, Rachel and Chris Conrad, Amy and Ken Mac Sparran, Dannie, Kristine and Richard Gue; great-grandchildren, Jonah Conrad, Jonah, Laikin and Brandon Gue; brother, Kennith Woodyard of Hurricane; sister, Rosalee Raines of Hurricane.

Service was held Tuesday, February 24, 2004, at Allen Funeral Home, Hurricane, with Elder Ed Cover officiating. Burial was in Valley View Memorial Park.
