Martha A. Parrish, 69, of Scott Depot died Wednesday, July 28, 2004, at home.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Hurricane and enjoyed spending time at the Hansford Center in St. Albans and the Henson Center in Scott Depot.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard R. Parrish.
Surviving: sons and their wives, Richard C. and Evelyn Parrish of St. Albans, Bruce R. and Paige Parrish of Cross Lanes; daughter, Rebecca Lester of Scott Depot; brother and his wife, the Rev. Dr. Charles and Midge Hendricks of Scott Depot; grandsons, Daniel and Adam Lester; many nieces and nephews.
Service was held Friday, July 30, 2004, at First Baptist Church of Hurricane with the Rev. Dr. Charles Hendricks officiating. Burial was in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans. Allen Funeral Home, Hurricane, was in charge of arrangements.
Memorial donations may be made to the Putnam County Animal Relief Center, Winfield.
Kenneth E. Wilcoxen
Kenneth Eugene Wilcoxen, 61, of Fraziers Bottom died Tuesday, July 27, 2004, at his residence following a short illness.
He was a landscaper for Pleasant Tree Landscaping, a Baptist by faith, and a lifelong resident of Fraziers Bottom.
Surviving: son, Kevin Wilcoxen and his wife, Linda, of Pliny; daughter, Marsha Pruett and her husband, Clarence, of Fraziers Bottom; sisters, Velma Rodent of Pt. Pleasant, Alice Akers and Brenda Foster, both of Fraziers Bottom; brothers, Leslie Wilcoxen of Fraziers Bottom, Lonnie Wilcoxen of Hurricane, Rick Wilcoxen of Fraziers Bottom, Gary Wilcoxen of Glenwood, and Rex Wilcoxen of Fraziers Bottom; four grandchildren.
Service was held Friday, July 30, 2004, at Fraziers Bottom Church of God with the Rev. Lester Errett officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Pliny. Chapman Funeral Home, Teays Valley, was in charge of arrangements.

Neva Helen Decker, 83, of Culloden, widow of James Edward died Thursday, July 29, 2004, at home. She was a retired Putnam County school teacher. Funeral services were held Monday, August 2, 2004 at Allen Funeral Home, Hurricane; burial in Forest Memorial Park, Milton.

Cynthia Hunt, 39, of Barboursville, wife of Steven D. Hunt, died Saturday, July 31, 2004 in St. Mary's Medical Center. Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 4, 2004 at Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville, Ohio; burial in Miller (Ohio) Memorial Gardens.
Wattie A. Vance, 85, of Barboursville, passed away July 27, 2004. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, July 31, 2004, at Fellowship Baptist Church, of which he was a member, by Pastor Donald Hannah and Dr. Jerry Warren. Burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. He was born January 16, 1919, in Lincoln County, a son of the late Jefferson Davis and Wynona Keyser Vance. He retired as a train dispatcher after 40 years of service on the Hinton division of the C&O Railway. Mr. Vance was also a custom home builder. He loved gospel music and was formerly a choir director and deacon of Nimitz Missionary Baptist Church for many years. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during WWII. He is survived by his wife, Louella Jarrell Vance; three sons and daughters-in-law, Bradley Vance of Tucson, Ariz., Keith and Cruz Vance of San Diego, Calif., and Eric Paul and Beatriz Vance of Tucson, Ariz.; and five grandchildren, Daniel Vance, Heidi Vance Boggs, Cynthia Vance, Merari Vance and Jefferson DavisVance. Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, was in charge of arrangements.
Barton Carroll Craig Jr.
Barton Carroll Craig Jr., 39, of Leon died Monday, September 20, 2004, at the University of Florida Medical Center, following a sudden illness.
He was an electrical lineman for Quality Line Co., Inc. with 12 years of service, attended Manilla Chapel and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Willion Tucker and Clinton Craig, and a brother, Jeffrey Todd Craig.
Surviving: wife, JoAnne Brown Craig; stepson, Joseph Wagner at home; stepdaughter, Michelle Wagner at home; mother and father, Barton Carroll and Janet M. Tucker Craig of Leon; maternal grandmother, Irene Tucker of Eleanor; paternal grandmother, Lottie Craig of Robertsburg; brother, Tony Craig and his wife, Kim, of Red House; sisters, Michelle Hanshaw and her husband, Mike, of Buffalo, Sabrina Floyd of Lancaster, Ohio; nephews, Cody, Blaise, Lance, Joseph, J.T., Dustin, Braddock, Casey, Chris, Justin, and Matthew; nieces, Justeen and Kelsey.

Mary Margaret Peak
Mary Margaret Rose Peak, 85, of Hurricane died Wednesday, September 22, 2004, in Nicholas County Health Care Center, Richwood.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ivan J. and Ethel Marie Spencer Rose of United on Cabin Creek, and her son, Henry Elliott Peak Jr.
She was born September 28, 1918 in Leewood, Cabin Creek, Kanawha County.
Surviving: her husband of 66 years, Henry E. Peak; son, Steven D. Peak of Muskogee, Oklahoma; daughter, Suzetta Marie Seacrist and her husband, Brant, of Richwood; brothers, Ivan J. Rose Jr. and C.K. Rose, both of Titusville, Florida, G.W. “Bill” Rose, Lee A. Rose, James E. Rose, all of St. Albans, and Robert P. Rose of Knoxville, Tennessee; sisters, Helen M. Eisenberg of Pearl River, New York and Suzanna D. Hensley Testa of Orlando, Florida; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
Service was held Saturday, September 25, 2004, at Allen Funeral Home, Hurricane. Interment was in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, South Charleston.

Beulah G. “Bea” Richardson, 84, of Poca died September 22, 2004, at Thomas Memorial Hospital.
She was the former manager of the Rustic Motel in St. Albans. She was a member of the Women of the Moose and participated in the Senior Bowling League in Nitro.

She was a native of Putnam County and had lived in Penn Valley for the past 12 years.

Palastean Gay Cobb, 63, of Eleanor died September 24, 2004, following a courageou battle with lung cancer.
She was receded in death by her parents, Arnold Edward Bailey and Georgia May Fisher Bailey.
She was a Christian and attended Kelly's Creek Independent Baoptist Church, Charleston.

Kathleen E. Holt, 88, of Hurricane, formerly of Fraziers Bottom, died Friday, September 24, 2004, at Veverly Health Care, Glasgow.
She was the retired owner of Peter Pan Dry Clerners, Kanawha City and South Hills, with 30 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert F. Holt, parents, Oley and Aluice Crank Harrison, and sisters, Loraine Roberts and Jessie Gunnoe.
Surviving: daughter, Patricia Bennett of Hurricane; sisters, Mary Brogan and Elizabeth Brumfield, both of Ormond Beach, Florida; grandchildren, Jan Bennett and Mike Bennett.
There was no service. Chapman Funeral Home, Teays Valley, was in charge of arrangements.
