Mrs. Michal C. Ankrom, wife of Jonathan Ankrom, departed this life June 25th. Her death though much expected for some time, was a great shock to friends and relatives. Her death was due to organic heart trouble, and although the physicians, Messrs. E.B. Conaway and M.L. Fittro, of Alma, did all that medical aid could, and had repeatedly told the members of the family that death might be expected any time; they could only build on hopes of her recovery, but she might revive and be spared them. But the end was drawing near and on the morning of the 24th of June she began to show signs of sinking rapidly and by noon the friends were summoned to her bedside to witness her last hours. She gradually sank until midnight, 12:05, when the end came. Mrs. Michal C. Ankrom was born in this county; was 66 years of age, born August 5, 1835. The life of the deceased was an exemplary one in many particulars. She was a member of the M.E. church, as well as coming of a strictly religious family. Her father before was a devout member of the church, joining while only a youth of 14, and perhaps her greatest traits of character was her promptness and strict honesty, integrity and uprightness, through this manner of life. The deceased had acquired a great host of friends. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Adams, pastor of the M.E. church of Alma.
