Amy L. Hartman

KEYSER - Amy L. Hartman, 78, of 500 Carskadon Lane, Keyser, died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2001 at the Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown.

Born May 28, 1922 at Burlington, she was the daughter of the late Harry C. and Malinda Ellen (Simpson) Wallace. She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Fred and Harry Junior Wallace and a sister, Eloise Wallace.

Mrs. Hartman was retired from Eaton Manufacturing Company in Cleveland, Ohio with 25 years of service. She was a member of the Burlington Assembly of God Church.

Mrs. Hartman is survived by two sons, Bill Hartman and wife Kathy, Summerfield, Fla. and David Hartman and wife Catherine, New Creek; two daughters, Shirley Shoemaker and husband David, Burlington and Gladys Moreland and husband Bill, LaVale, Md.; one brother, Charley Wallace, Keyser; two sisters, Katheryn Haggerty, Romney and Frances Takach, Canal Fulton, Ohio; 12 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser, on Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2001 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Burlington Assembly of God Church on Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2001 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Brady Goldizen and Pastor Simon Oates officiating. The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to services.

Interment will be in the Arnold cemetery, Junction.

The family requests that memorial contributions be directed to the Rosenbaum Family House, WVU Hospitals, P.O. Box 8228, Morgantown, W.Va. 26506-8228.

Lawrence B. Powell

KEYSER - Lawrence "Larry" B. Powell II, 50, of Orlando, Fla., died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001, at his residence. Funeral services were conducted at the Markwood Funeral Home, Saturday, Feb. 3, 2001 at 1 p.m. with the Rev. C. Waco Biser officiating. Pallbearers were Kenny Nutter, Rick Christenopher, Randy Williamson, Mike Goff, Junior Liller, and Steve Taylor. Interment was in Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.

Terry L. Kinnie

RAWLINGS, MD - Terry L. Kinnie, 47, of 24933 Walker's Flat Road, S.W., Rawlings, MD, died Friday, April 13, 2001 at the Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, VA.

Born on June 25, 1953 at Winchester, VA, he was a son of Thomas Shaw Kinnie of McCoole, MD and the late Betty Alice (Price) Kinnie.

Mr. Kinnie was employed as a salvage winder at the Westvaco Luke Mill. He was a 1971 graduate of Bruce High School. He was an avid bowler and softball player and his life was dedicated to his family, especially his two grandsons.

In addition to his father, surviving are his wife of 22 years, Christal J. (McGinnis) Kinnie; two daughters, Sara B. Kinnie, of Keyser, WV and Patricia A. Kinnie, at home; four brothers: John Kinnie and wife, Sheila, of Gilmore, MD, Scott Kinnie and wife, Wanda, of Keyser, WV, Steve Kinnie and wife, Debbie, of Keyser, WV, and Dana Kinnie of McCoole, MD; two sisters: Susie Long and husband, Junior, of Erie, PA and Brenda VanMeter husband, Tom, of McCoole, MD; two grandsons Deshawn and Tyrae Barmore; his father and mother-in-law, Sonny and Rose McGinnis of McCoole, MD; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser, on Tuesday from 3 to 4 p.m. Services will be conducted at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser, on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. with Rev. James Williamson and Rev. Daniel Garlitz officiating.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to a trust fund, which has been established for Mr. Kinnie's grandsons, Deshawn and Tyrae. Memorial contribution slips are available at the funeral home or they may be mailed to the family at 24933 Walker's Flat Road, S.W., Rawlings, MD 21557.

Carl Zeltmer, Jr.

KEYSER, WV - Carl Zeltner, Jr., 55, of HC 72, Box 352, Keyser, WV, died Friday, April 13, 2001 at the Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser.

Born on August 18, 1945 at Long Island, New York City, NY, he was a son of Carl Zeltner, Sr. and Mary W. (McGowan) Zeltner of Brooksville, FL.

Mr. Zeltner was employed with the Maryland Environmental Department as a supervisor at the waste water treatment facility at Rocky Gap State Park, Flintstone, MD. He was a US Navy and US Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War and was a member of the Boyce Houser Post #41, American Legion, Keyser. He was a member of the Knobley Church of the Brethren where he enjoyed serving as a youth group leader and teacher. He also formerly served as a Boy Scout leader in Florida for several years.

In addition to his parents, surviving family members are: his wife of 16 years, Ann (Fuller) Zeltner; one son, Carl E. Zeltner, III of Orlando, FL; one stepdaughter, Dawn Cercone of Keene, NH; one stepson, Dwayne Herbert of St. Petersburg, FL; one brother, John Zeltner of Baltimore, MD; Godmother, Margaret Tivnan of Seattle, WA; best friends, Pete and Nancy Throne of Burlington, WV and Paul Lutman of Berkeley Springs, WV; and eight grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser, on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Knobley Church of the Brethern on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Roger Leatherman officiating. The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to services.

Interment will be in the Knobley Memorial Gardens.

Betty Eleanor Arnold

WESTERPORT, MD - Betty Eleanor Arnold, of 422 Poplar St., Westernport, died on April 14, 2001.

Born in Bloomington on July 26, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Eva McDowell. Her husband, whom she married on June 26, 1941, also preceded her in death on March 15, 1958.

Mrs. Arnold was a graduate of Bruce High School Class of 1941. She was a member of Piedmont Pentecostal Holiness Church, where she had directed Bible School and was a Sunday school teacher for many years. She enjoyed cooking for five years at the Tri-Towns After School Program, at Trinity United Methodist Church, Piedmont, WV.

Mrs. Arnold was past president of Pentecostal Holiness Church Women's Auxiliary and currently a board member of the Bloomington Homemakers Club for 29 years, where she was a past president. She received the honor of Homemaker of the Year in 1999.

Surviving are three children Ronald L. Arnold and wife, Delores, of Burlington, WV, Rebecca J. Raines and husband, Woodrow, of Williamsburg, VA, and Betty Ann Aronhalt and husband, Gary, of Westernport, with whom she resided two brothers, George T. McDowell Sr. of Gallatin, TN and Donald H. McDowell of Bloomington; two sisters, Edna S. "Dowell" Kooken and Eva C. (Murph) Rosier, both of Bloomington; seven grandchildren: Robin R. Harris, Ronald L. Arnold Jr., Woodrow W. Raines III, Kelli S. St. Clair, Angela N Gallagher, Jennifer D. Piatt, and Gary W. Aronhalt II; great-grandchildren: Donald Harris Jr., Kirstin Arnold, Brandon Harris, Casey Arnold, Grayson St. Clair, Hunter Raines, Bryce St. Clair, and was anxiously awaiting the birth of two great-grandchildren soon.

The family will receive friends at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the Piedmont Pentecostal Holiness Church on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Thomas Brackett and her nephew, Rev. George T. McDowell Jr., officiating.

Interment will be in Philos cemetery, Westernport.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons and grandsons-in-law: Ronald L. Arnold, Woodrow W. Raines III, Gary W, Aronhalt II, Donald Harris Sr., Scoot St.Clair, William B. Gallagher, and Jeffrey R. Piatt.

Julia E. Armstrong

Julia E. Armstrong, 78, of Push Root Road, Burlington, died on Sunday April 15, 2001 at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, MD.

Arrangements are being handled by the Markwood Funeral Home, Keyser and are incomplete at the time.

Leona D. Leatherman

KEYSER, WV - Leona D. Leatherman, 87, of 316 Newton St, Keyser, WV, more recently a resident of Heartland of Keyser Nursing Home, died Wednesday, April 11, 2001. Funeral services, under direction of Smith Funeral Home, Keyser, were conducted at Duling United Methodist Church, Keyser, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 14, with Rev. Joseph Eversole officiating. Interment was in the Duling cemetery, Keyser. Pallbearers were: Jerry See, Eric Taylor, Jasen Machosky, Shawn Pratt, Dave Burgess, and Glenn Westfall.

Ruth Eileen Cavey

BLOOMINGTON, Md. -- Ruth Eileen Cavey, 62, of North Branch Ave., Bloomington, Md., died, Friday, Aug. 17, 2001 at her residence.

Born in Bloomington on Sept. 20, 1938, she was the daughter of Edris (Elliott) Bosley of Moran Manor Nursing Home, Westernport, Md., and the late John Bosley. Two brothers, Donald Bosley and John Bosley also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Cavey was a waitress at the former Green's Restaurant and G.C. Murphy's Restaurant. She attended the Bloomington United Methodist Church, and was a member of Victory Unit #155 Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the Bloomington Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Leroy Cavey; two sons, Terry Leroy Cavey and Robert Francis Cavey, all of Bloomington; one sister, Margaret Paugh of Backbone Mountain; one brother, Robert Bosley, Bloomington; and five grandchildren, Chris, Terry, Andy, Jamie, and Nikki.

The family received friends at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday. Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 1 p.m. with Rev. Donald Nelson officiating.

Interment will be in the Bloomington cemetery, Bloomington.

Virginia Mae Jewell

ROMNEY -- Virginia Mae Jewell, 84, of Romney, died Friday, Aug. 17, 2001 at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, Md.

Born on Oct. 1, 1916 in Romney, she was the daughter of the late James T. and Dora Elizabeth (Burkett) Racey. Her husband, Philip Brook Jewell; and three sons, Norman Eugene Jewell, James William Jewell, and John Brook Jewell also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Jewell was a member of the Evangel Holiness Church, Shanks.

She is survived by three sons, Philip Edwin Jewell, Wilmington, Ohio, Charles Dailey Jewell, Augusta, and Roger Lee Jewell, Three Churches; three daughters, Anna G. Jewell. Romney, Brenda R. Johnson, Ellisville, Ill., and Ruby L. Moreland, Augusta; one sister, Katherine DeLong, Fort Ashby; 12 grandchildren; and 28 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the Shaffer Funeral Home from 1 to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 22. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at the Shaffer Funeral Home with Pastor Melvin Bontrager officiating.

Interment will be in the Ebenezer cemetery, Romney.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Shaffer Funeral Home, Romney.
