P. Louise Dawson

P. Louise Dawson, 67, of 76 Paxton St., Piedmont, WV, died Sunday, June 10, 2001 at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, MD.

Born at Keyser on March 5, 1934, she was the daughter of the later Howard and Hazel (Bobb) Braithwaite. Her husband, Gary G. Dawson in 1976; one son, Gary G. Dawson, Jr.; one sister, Wilda Rohrbaugh; one half brother, Harry Braithwaite; and a special aunt, Icie Pearl Cosner, also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Dawson was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Piedmont. She was a former employee of Sterling Chicken Processing, Oakland, Md., and Keyser Garment, Keyser.

Surviving are two sons, Rev. Williams Dawson and wife Christine of Buckhannon, Charles "Chuck" Dawson and wife Gerri of Piedmont; two daughters, Debbie Nesmith and husband Leo of Westernport, Md., Sandra Karalwitz and husband Paul of Piedmont, a brother, Junior Braithwaite of Piedmont; two sisters, Clara Fazenbaker of Westernport, Md., and Mary Grady of Piedmont; half brother, Butch Braithwaite of Burlington, three half sisters, Frances Wolfe of Keyser, Dorothy Braithwaite of Keymont, and Bessie Shears of Burlington; seven grandchildren, Gary Nesmith, Gary Dawson III, Charles Dawson Jr., Christopher Dawson, Alex Dawson, Nathan Dawson, and Amanda Dawson; one great grandson, Logan Nesmith.

The family will receive friends at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Joseph Jarrett officiating.

Internment will be in Philos cemetery, Westernport, Md.

Harold H. Snyder

Harold H. Snyder, 80, of Rt. 5, Box 806, Keyser, WV, died Sunday, June 10, 2001 at the Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, VA.

The Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, is in charge of the arrangements, which are incomplete at this time.

Alice Arbutus Junkins

Keyser, WV - Alice Arbutus Junkins, 68, of 1355 Terri Street, Keyser, died on Friday, June 8, 2001, at her residence.

Funeral services were conducted at the First United Methodist Church, 32 N. Davis Street, Keyser, on Monday, June 11, 2001, at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Samuel E. Starling, Jr. officiating. Pallbearers were: Active, Pascal Crites, Andrew Junkins, Mason Crites, Bob Fout, Bob Schadler, and Fred Pfeifer and Honorary, Conald Rogers, Fred Summers and Bud Rizer.

Internment was in Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser,

Arrangements were handled by the Markwood Funeral Home, Keyser.

Alice Gertrude Keplinger

Alice G. Keplinger, age 84, of the Grant County Nursing Home in Petersburg, W.Va. and formerly of Maysville, W.Va. died Sunday, November 4, 2001 at the Grant County Nursing Home where she had resided since April 6, 1987.

Born October 19, 1917 in Maysville, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Jefferson Otterbein and Mary Catherine Keplinger.

She was preceded in death in addition to her parents, by three sisters: Grace Keplinger Weese, Lucy B. Keplinger and Ruth H. Keplinger; five brothers: Martin Keplinger, Herb Keplinger, Fred Keplinger, John Keplinger and Otis Keplinger. Alice was a member of the Maysville United Methodist Church.

Surviving are two sisters: Nettie K. Secrist of Petersburg and Mary V. Bobo of Maysville, W.Va.; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Schaeffer Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home with the Rev. Stanley Kile officiating.

Interment will be in Keplinger Family cemetery, Maysville, W.Va.

Memorial contributions may be made to Maysville United Methodist Church, Maysville, W.Va. 26833 or the Grant County Nursing Home, 27 Early Ave, Petersburg, W.Va. 26847.

Gladys M. Rohm

Gladys M. Rohm, 86, of Elk Garden, formerly of Baltimore, died Saturday Nov. 3, 2001 at the home of her daughter in Baltimore.

Born May 29, 1915 in Bittinger, Md, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Mamie (Bickel) Hayes. Gladys was also preceded in death by her husband, James W. Rohm. She is survived by 3 daughters: Arlene Carr of New Orleans, La., Tina Landers of Bel Air, Md, and Melisa Bryant of Baltimore; seven grandchildren: David Carr, Kimberly Carr, James Carr, Teresa Landy, Vince Zanti, Heather Zanti, and Brent Landers; four great-grandchildren: Lee, Crystal, Gary and Cooper all of Louisiana; three sisters-in-law; Neva Lyons, with whom she resided, and Gaye Flanigan both of Elk Garden, and Betty Burnsworth of Cumberland; and one brother-in-law, Ray Perando of Oklahoma.

Friends will be received on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home in Kitzmiller. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Donald E. Marple officiating. Interment will be in the Kalbaugh cemetery in Elk Garden.

Kenneth J. "Sonny" Urice

Kenneth J. "Sonny" Urice, 69, of 465 Armstrong Street, Keyser, died Monday, Oct. 23, 2000, at the Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, Md.

Born July 5, 1931, at Keyser, he was a son of Edna (Hayes) Urice of Daytona Beach, Fla., and the late Orus Urice. He also was preceded in death by an infant son and a brother, Orus C. "Bonnie" Urice.

Mr. Urice was the retired owner and operator of Urice Supply in Keyser since 1953. He was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church, the chancel choir, Love Sunday school class and the board of trustees of the church. An U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, he was a member of the Boyce-Houser Post No. 41, American Legion, Keyser, and Nancy Hanks Post No. 3518, VFW, Keyser. He was also a member of Gideon's International.

Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife of 48 years, Delores (Booth) Urice; one son, Kenneth Urice Jr. and wife Betty; two daughters, Kim D. Newcomb and husband Rick, and Robin L. Lyons and husband Kenny, all of Keyser; two sisters, Polly Ravenscroft, Sebring, Fla., and Patricia Walke, Ormond Beach, Fla.; a close family friend, Patty Bauer, Keyser; and six grandchildren, Billy and Colby Faulk, Luke and Logan Urice, Kylie Logsdon and Bryce Lyons.

Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Calvary United Methodist Church on Friday at 11 a.m., with Rev. E. Jay West officiating. The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to services.

Interment will be in the Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser. Graveside military honors will be accorded.

Thomas A. "Andy" Anderson

Thomas A. "Andy" Anderson, 53, of 12 North Main Street, Keyser, died Monday, Oct. 23, 2000, at his residence.

Born April 8, 1947, he was a son of the late William Ronald and Belle (Leatherman) Anderson.

Mr. Anderson was retired from the maintenance department at Potomac Valley Hospital where he had been employed from 1966 to 1998. He was a 1966 graduate of Bruce High School and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

He was a member of Victory Post No. 155, American Legion, Westernport, Md.

Surviving are two stepbrothers, Kenneth Wilt, York, S.C., and Paul Wilt, Gaffney, S.C.; two stepsisters, Janet Birchfield, Blacksburg, S.C., and Emma Jean Metz, Keyser; two close friends, Robert Grapes, Cross, and Ruth Ann "Princess" Kirk, Keyser; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and his "extended family" - friends that he worked with at Potomac Valley Hospital.

Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser, on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser, on Friday at 3 p.m., with Rev. Samuel Biser officiating.

Interment will be in the Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.

Mary Margaret Kyle

Mary Margaret Kyle, 93, of 23916 Kyle Hill Road, Barton, Md., died Monday, Oct. 23, 2000, at Garrett Memorial Hospital, Oakland, Md.

Born at Firm Rock on July 24, 1907, she was the daughter of the late Ferdinand C. and Clementine Michael. Her husband, Frederick Kyle in 1962, her son, Richard L. Kyle in 2000, one brother and two sisters also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Kyle was a member of Barton United Methodist Church, the Barton Hose Company ladies auxiliary, Barton Senior Citizens, and Bethlehem Chapter No. 14 Order of Eastern Star. She retired in 1972 from the Celanese Fibers Corporation.

Surviving is a daughter, Ruth Largent and husband William M. of Glen Burnie, Md.; six grandchildren, Daniel Daris, Donna Chadwell, Kathy Litwin and husband Stan, Richard Kyle and wife Linda, Diana Trotta, William Largent Sr. and wife Dee, 14 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the Boal Memorial Chapel, Barton, on Wednesday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the Chapel on Thursday at 11 a.m.

Interment will be in the Mt. View cemetery, Moscow Mills.

Barbara E. Haywood

Barbara E. Haywood, 66, of 1200 Lynmar Street, Keyser, died on Monday, Oct. 23, 2000, at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, Va.

Born on Oct. 22, 1934, in Luke, Md., she was the daughter of Norman K. Haywood of Keyser, and the late Hattie M. (Grove) Haywood. She also was preceded in death by her daughter, Rae McCallister, of Georgia.

Ms. Haywood was a 1952 graduate of Bruce High School. She was a member of the VFW Post #6776, Queens Point, McCoole, Md.

She retired after 40 years of service from Professional Carpet Services, Chevy Chase, Md., as a secretary/receptionist.

Surviving in addition to her father, are her son, Phillip F. Casamento,II, Las Vegas, Nev.; her daughter, Linda Spencer and husband Howard, San Francisco, Ca.; three sisters, Norma Shoemaker, Juanita Propst and Mindy Cheshire, all of Keyser and one granddaughter, Ashlee Park, of South Carolina.

Friends will be received at the Markwood Funeral Home, Keyser, on Thursday, Oct., 26, 2000, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Services will be conducted at the Markwood Funeral Home, on Friday, Oct. 27, 2000, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Barbara S. Starling officiating.

Internment will be in Potomac Memorial Gardens

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 5216, Glen Allen, Va. 23058-5216.

Harold Snyder

KEYSER - Harold H. "Diz" Snyder, 80, of Rt. 5, Box 806, Keyser, died Sunday, June 10, 2001 at the Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, Va.

Born on October 24, 1920 in Philipsburg, Pa., he was a son of the late John and Anna (Maggs) Snyder. His wife, V. Ruth (Lantz) Snyder on April 18, 1996; two sons, John and Roger Snyder; and a grandson, Shaun Christian Snyder, also preceded him in death.

Mr. Snyder was a retired carman with the B&O Railroad with over 30 years of service. He was also a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the 94th Signal Battalion. He was a founding member of the Queens Point Memorial Post # 6775, VFW, McCoole, Md. and was also a member of Victory Post #155, American Legion, Westernport, Md. and Davis Lodge #51, A.F. & A.M., Keyser

He is survived by two sons, Bobby Dale Snyder, Corinth, and Shawn Lee Snyder, Moorefield; three daughters, JoAnn Elliott, Hutton, Md., Joyce E. Friend, Crellin, Md., and Ruth Ellen Jernell, Keyser; 17 grandchildren; and 29 great grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Daniel Sears and Pastor Bruce Craig officiating.

Interment will be in the Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser. Graveside military honors will be accorded by the local veteran's organizations. Queens Point Memorial Post will conduct a memorial service at the funeral home tonight at 7 p.m.
