Julia E. Baker

KEYSER - Julia E. Baker, 89, of 78 W. Piedmont Street, Keyser, died Tuesday, June 12, 2001 at the Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser.

The Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, is in charge of the arrangements, which are incomplete at this time.

Frances C. Alongi

Frances C. Alongi, age 86 of Central Av. Westernport died Tuesday Nov . 6, 2001 at the home of her daughter in Reisterstown, Md. She was born on Dec. 8, 1914 in Cumberland, Md. And was the daughter of the late Guiseppi Corbacio and Leonarda DiMartini.

She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Alongi who died on Oct 9, 1996 and one sister Mamie Snyder.

Mrs. Alongi was a graduate of Keyser High School. She worked for the Celanese Corp for several years. She was a member of Saint Peter's Catholic Church in Westernport. She was a member of Beta-Eta Sorority in Westernport. She was very active with the American Red Cross for a number of years and served as the Chairman of Tri-Towns/Westvaco Bloodmobile.

She is survived by two daughters, Dr. Sharon Alongi and Dr. Shelia Alongi and husband Dr. Richard Huslig of Reisterstown, Md. She is also survived by three sisters, Mary Sagal, Bea Shuck of Keyser, WV. and Anna Kilmer of Martinsburg, WV. and one brother, James Corbacio of Phoenix, Az. Four Grandchildren: Anthony A. Huslig, Regina A. Huslig, Angela Alongi and Michael Alongi all of Reisterstown, Md.

Family will receive friends at the Fredlock Funeral Home in Piedmont on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. A Christian Wake service will be held at 7 P.M. on Thursday evening. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10:30 A.M. at the Assumption Catholic Church in Keyser, the Rev. Father Ivan Lebar pastor officiating.

Internment will be in Potomac Memorial Gardens Keyser, WV.

Family request that memorial be directed to the American Red Cross, 400 Cumberland St. Cumberland, MD. 21502 or to Saint Peter's School in Westernport, Md.

Mildred Susan (Schell) Inskeep

Mildred Susan (Schell) Inskeep, 87, of Medley W.Va. died Monday, November 5, 2001 at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, MD.

Born June 26, 1914 in Medley, W.Va. she is the daughter of the late Issac Thornton and Lillie (Lewis) Schell.

She was preceded in death by her husband: William Inskeep, whom she married on Oct. 19, 1945; two brothers: Harry L. Schell and Joseph H. Schell, Sr.; and one sister: Nellie Jane Shaffer.

Mrs. Inskeep was employed by the Grant County Board of Education as an elementary school teacher for over 30 years having retired in 1971. She later served on the Grant County Board of Education. As a second career, Mrs. Inskeep served as the postmistress at Medley from 1980 to 1996. She was a member of the Petersburg Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by a son: Colonel William Inskeep, and wife Betty, Rockville, MD; one daughter: Susan Inskeep Gray, and husband, T. Wayne, Burke, VA; five grandchildren: Thomas S. Gray, Orlando, FL, Andrew T. Gray, Harrisonburg, VA, Emily S. Gray, Sarah I. Gray and Rebecca D. Gray, all of Burke, VA; one sister: Ada Mae Hodgson, Satellite Beach, FL and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the Petersburg Presbyterian Church on Thursday, Nov. 8 from 12:30 until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m.

The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2001 at the Petersburg Presbyterian Church, Petersburg, W.Va.

Representing the clergy is Mark Keith Shaffer.

Interment will be in Lahmansville cemetery, Lahmansville, W.Va.

Memorials may be made to the Grant County Public Library or the Grant County Historical Society both of Petersburg.

John C. Morgan

John Carl Morgan, 55, of RR 6 Box 6350, Keyser, died Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2000, at Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser.

Born in Frostburg, Md., on Aug. 3, 1945, he was the son of the late Charles Thomas and Alice Ruth (Keplinger) Morgan. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Charles Morgan, David Morgan, Sam Morgan and David Reckhart.

Mr. Morgan was an underground coal miner, having worked for Metikki Coal Company of Oakland, Md. John was a member of Bethel Holiness Church, Lonaconing, Md., and was an avid horseman and a master blacksmith.

Surviving is his wife, Nancy (Wilson) Morgan; three sons, John Charles Morgan, David Wayne Morgan and Wendell Allen Morgan, all at home; two daughters, Amy Alice Rush and husband Reid of Rawlings, Md., and Kasey Dawn Morgan, at home; four brothers, Gary Morgan, Pennsylvania, Wayne Morgan, Louisiana, Kenny Morgan, Indiana, and Joe Morgan, Barton; and three sisters, Josephine Ridenour, Rawlings, Ruth Smith, Indiana, and Hilda Laing, Virginia.

The family will receive friends at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 1 p.m., with Rev. George Loar officiating.

Friends will also be received at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be in Laurel Hill cemetery, Moscow Mills, Md.

Kenneth H. Shears

Kenneth H. Shears, 73, of Elk Garden died Aug. 29, 2001 at the Dennett Road Manor Nursing Home in Oakland, Md.

Born in Elk Garden, he was the son of the late Earl R. and Annie F. (Allender) Shears. A brother, Raymond Shears, also preceded him in death.

Mr. Shears was retired from the U.S. Army with more than 20 years of service and had been stationed in Texas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Africa, Korea, France and Vietnam. He was a former Mineral County constable and was active with the West Virginia Community Action Agency.

He is survived by two sons, Kenneth H. Shears II and his wife, Rose, of Lowell, Mass., and John K. Shears and his wife, Crystal, of Grafton; one brother, Clifford Shears of Cresaptown, Md.; two sisters, Beverly Green of San Antonio, Texas, and Mildred Enfinger of Hephzibah, Ga.; six grandchildren, Matthew, Helena, Jackie, Amanda, Sonya and Justin Shears; two great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Friends will be received at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home in Kitzmiller, Md., from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 1 with the Rev. Donald Marple officiating.

Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. cemetery in Elk Garden.

Larry Philip Rawlings

WARRENTON, Va. -- Larry Philip Rawlings, 46, of Warrenton, Va. died Aug. 26, 2001 at his home.

Born Oct. 15, 1954 in Keyser, he was a son of the late William Boyd Rawlings and Virginia Gladys Welch.

Mr. Rawlings served in the U.S. Army for four years having been discharged with the rank of Sergeant. For the past 20 years, he has worked as an automobile mechanic at Stohlman Mitsubishi in Tyson's Corner, Va.

He survived by his wife Fran Rawlings; three children, Jessie Troutman, Warrenton, Megan Rawlings, Frederick, Md., and Layman Rawlings, Warrenton; two sisters, Jerri Crowe, Keyser, and Louise Sidley, Centreville, Va.; and four brothers, Dick Rawlings, Keyser, Bob Rawlings, Burlington, Ben Rawlings, Baltimore, Md., and Marshall Rawlings, Keyser.

The family received friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Moser Funeral Home, Warrenton. Funeral services will be held today at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Randy Crowe officiating.

Interment will be in the Culpepper National cemetery, Culpepper, Va. with military honors being accorded by the American Legion Post # 330 and VFW Post #2524.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Francis E. Schaub

KEYSER -- Francis E. "Frank" Schaub, 74, of 12 N. Main Street, Keyser, died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2001 at the Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, Va.

Born on July 11, 1927 in Newark, N.J., he was a son of the late Amos Harold and Mary Lynette (Redmond) Schaub. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Amos, Paul and Teddy Schaub.

Mr. Schaub was a member of the Living Faith Fellowship, Keyser.

He was the last surviving member of his immediate family and is survived by several close friends, David and Vicki Eversole and their children, Cody, Sarah, and Breana, Keyser; and Nancy and Johnny Dobry, Keyser. Also surviving are several nephews residing in the Baltimore, Md. area.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Gordon Brubaker officiating. Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Saturday one prior to the service.

Interment will be in the Queen's Point cemetery, Keyser.

Charles H. Workman

OCEAN CITY, Md. - Charles H. Workman, 71, died at his home Saturday, Aug. 25, 2001.

Born in Iowa, he was the son of the late Harry and Mary Workman.

A former yacht broker in Annapolis, Md., Mr. Workman became a real estate broker after moving to Ocean City in 1984.

He is survived by two children, a daughter, Gayle W. Potzger of Anchorage, Ala., and a son, Dennis C. Workman of Arnold, Md.; one sister, Peg Pierce of Cape Coral, Fla.; one grandson and a very close friend, Palma Devic of P.O. Box 1703, Ocean City, MD 21843, (410) 524-4861.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Annapolis. Inquiries can be directed to Ullrich Funeral Home in Berlin, Md., which is handling the arrangements.

Robert W. McCoy Jr.

PALM BAY Fla. -- Dr. Robert W. McCoy Jr., 77, of Palm Bay, Fla., formerly of Keyser, died July 13, 2001 at his residence.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at the Church of the Assumption in Keyser at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, with the Rev. Ivan M. Lebar, T.O.R., as celebrant.

If desired, memorial contributions may be made in the form of mass offerings.

Arrangements are being handled by the Markwood Funeral Home in Keyser.

Donald L. Adams

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Donald Lee "Rock" Adams, 46, of Charles Town, died Monday, Dec. 29, 1997, at Frederick Memorial Hospital, Frederick, Md.

Born March 8, 1951, in Charles Town, he was the son of the late Marvin Lee and Ethel Mae Clipp Adams.

He was a graduate of Charles Town High School.

He was employed at Turf Auto Sales in Charles Town.

He is survived by one aunt, Thelma Whitmore of Charles Town; two uncles, Charles Adams and Franklin W. Adams, both of Rippon, W.Va.; and close friends, George and Billie Frame of Martinsburg, with whom he formerly resided; and seven cousins.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Marvin G. Adams.

Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home in Charles Town. The Rev. James Chambly will officiate. Burial will be in Edge Hill cemetery in Charles Town.

Friends will be received at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.
