CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Stephen Samuel "Sam" Dalgarn III, 52, of Tuscawilla Hills, died Friday, Jan. 16, 1998, at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, Va.
Born Aug. 29, 1945, in Middletown, Pa., he was the son of Stephen Shugart and Ruth Pope Dalgarn Jr. of Charles Town.
He was a 1963 graduate of Charles Town High School.
He had been employed with Community Oil Co., Charles Town, as an operations manager for 30 years.
A U.S. Army veteran, he served during the Vietnam War.
He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Charles Town.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, of 25 years, Gail D. Dick Dalgarn; two daughters, Ellen Elizabeth Dalgarn and Traci Beth Dalgarn, both at home; one sister, Martha Rovelli of Camp Hill, Pa.; and one brother, David Dalgarn of Saginaw, Mich.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, 310 Fairfax Blvd., Charles Town. The Rev. Dee-Ann Dixon will officiate. Burial will be in Edge Hill cemetery, Charles Town.
There will be no visitation.

Carolyn M. McDaniel
RANSON, W.Va. - Carolyn Marie McDaniel, 50, of Ranson, died Friday, Jan. 16, 1998, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson.
Born April 2, 1947, in Jefferson County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Isaac and Francis Hinton Long.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Lewis McDaniel Sr.
She was a homemaker.
She was of the Protestant faith.
She is survived by two daughters, Melissa Ann McDaniel and Stephanie Ann McDaniel; five sons, Charles L. McDaniel, Scott L. McDaniel, David A. McDaniel, Gerald A. McDaniel and Kevin T. McDaniel, all of Ranson; one sister, Chelva Jean Cogle; two brothers, Milford Long and Francis Long, all of Harpers Ferry, W.Va.; and four grandchildren.
Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home, 114 N. Mildred St., Ranson. The Rev. Ray T. Love will officiate. Burial will be in Uvilla cemetery, Uvilla, W.Va.
The family will receive friends Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Letita B. Rideoutt
CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Letita Barnum Rideoutt, 86, of Charles Town, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 1998, at Integrated Health Services of West Virginia, Charles Town.
Born Aug. 14, 1911, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Isaac and Carrie Gaskins Barnum.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry S. Rideoutt Sr., in 1978.
She was a graduate of Storer College, Harpers Ferry, W.Va.; and Freedman School of Nursing, Washington, D.C.
She and her husband owned and operated Rideoutt's Dry Cleaners in Charles Town, for 57 years, retiring in 1976.
She was a member of St. Phillips Episcopal Church, Charles Town.
She is survived by one stepson, Harry S. Rideoutt Jr. of Keyser, W.Va.; one sister, Fredericka Barnum of Philadelphia; four stepgrandchildren; and cousins.
Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Pleasant View Memory Gardens Chapel, Martinsburg, W.Va. The Rev. John Alfriend will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens, Martinsburg.
There will be no visitation.

Rose G. Padgett
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Rose Gaddess Padgett, 78, a resident of Heartland Nursing Home, and formerly of Washington, D.C., died Friday, Jan. 16, 1998, at the nursing home.
Born April 13, 1919, in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late Thomas Stockton and Pearl Marshall Gaddess.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Kenneth Padgett, in 1989.
She was a graduate of Roosevelt High School, Washington, D.C.
She was a homemaker.
She was of the Episcopal faith.
She is survived by one daughter, Aideen Padgett Raney of Falling Waters, W.Va.; one sister, Virginia Gaddess Loomis of Bethesda, Md.; two grandchildren, Jon Jeffrey Carter and Ralph Carter Jr.; and three great-grandchildren, Jon Ryan Carter, Jessica Nicole Carter and Anthony Edward Carter.
She was preceded in death by one son, Thomas Nelson Padgett, in 1990; two sisters, Marion Gaddess Paisley and Dorothy Gaddess; and one brother, Thomas Stockton Gaddess Jr.
Graveside services will be private at a later date at Arlington National cemetery, Arlington, Va.
There will be no visitation.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Elsie Chambers Flick, 77, of Martinsburg, died Thursday, Jan. 15, 1998, at City Hospital, Martinsburg.
Born Dec. 11, 1920, in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late George A. and Helen Rebecca Hurd Chambers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence W. "Jack" Flick.
She retired from the Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Karen F. Healy of Philadelphia; one sister, Lillian Castle of Martinsburg; and one brother, Donald P. Chambers of Marina, Calif.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Kathleen Mabel Butler, Isabel Chambers and Nora Walters; and four brothers, Marion D. Chambers, Julian V. Chambers, Clayton Chambers and Allen B. Chambers Sr.

FAIRMONT, W.Va. - Evelyn Iona Nay, 57, of Wiley Street, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 1998, at Fairmont General Hospital.
Born Jan. 11, 1941, in Marion County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Charles David and Perie Leona Clouston Harding.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Nay, in 1984.
She was a homemaker. She had worked for Westinghouse/Philips Lighting in Fairmont for more than 25 years. Before that, she was employed by Bandts Ribbon Factory in Hagerstown.
She was a member of Ladies Auxiliary Fairmont Moose.
She is survived by one daughter, Luann Fleming of Fairmont; three sons, John Nay of McCalla, Ala., Richard Nay of Austin, Texas, and George "Chuck" Nay of Fairmont; one brother, Floyd Harding of Fairmont; 16 grandchildren; one great-grandson; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Ray E. Harding, Carl Harding and Charles Harding; and one grandchild.
Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont. The Rev. Allen M. Donham will officiate. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens.

Born June 20, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Bernardo and Olga Gonzalez Ferro.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church, Berkeley Springs.
She was an auxiliary member of American Legion Post 60, Berkeley Springs.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas A. Pitts, whom she married on Aug. 4, 1967; two daughters, Amie Pitts and Christine Pitts, both of Berkeley Springs; three sons, Thomas A. Pitts Jr. of the Marine Corps., Michael Pitts and Mark Pitts, both of Berkeley Springs; one sister, Carmen Guice of Beltsville, Md.; one brother, Benny Ferro of Bowie, Md.; nieces and nephews.
A funeral liturgy will be celebrated Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church, Berkeley Springs. The Rev. John S. Ledford will be celebrant. Burial will be in Greenway cemetery, Berkeley Springs.
Visitation will be at Hunter-Anderson Funeral Home, 106 S. Mercer St., Berkeley Springs, Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., where a vigil will be at 7 p.m.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Margaret E. Wilson, 74, of Martinsburg, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 1998, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson, W.Va.
Born Feb. 19, 1923, in Berkeley County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Edward Grant and Hazel Cleveland Hartley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph E. "Hoolie" Wilson.
She was a 1941 graduate of Martinsburg High School.
She was employed as a finance clerk by Veterans Affairs Medical Center before retiring.
She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church.
She is survived by one son, Richard L. "Dick" Wilson of Martinsburg; one brother, Arthur James Hartley of Martinsburg; two grandchildren, Dr. Richard L. Wilson Jr. and Ronald M. Wilson; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Edna H. Rice; and one brother, Raymond Grant Hartley.
