RANSON, W.Va. - Bobby Wayne Meadows, 62, of Ranson, died Sunday, March 1, 1998, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Ranson.
Born June 4, 1935, in Oakvale, W.Va., he was the son of the late Samuel T. and Winnie Dunn Meadows.
He retired as manager of Checker Cab Co. in Montgomery County, Md.
He served in the U.S. Air Force with the 836th Air Division, and received the Air Force Longevity Service Award.
He was of the Methodist faith.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline L. Leffingwell Meadows, whom he married Dec. 26, 1958; one daughter, Michelle Y. Meadows of Bethesda, Md.; four sons, Dale Wayne Meadows of Ranson, Kevin J. Meadows of Keeling, Va., Philip D. Meadows of Burtonsville, Md., and Wayne S. Meadows of Bethesda; one sister, Christine Alexander of Spartanburg, S.C.; three brothers, Samuel T. Meadows and Randolph M. Meadows, both of Barboursville, W.Va., and Thomas E. Meadows of Huntington, W.Va.; three granddaughters; one grandson; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Lotus F. Keyser; and one brother, Charles A. Meadows.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home in Charles Town. The Rev. Winfield Talley will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens in Martinsburg, W.Va.
Friends will be received at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Helen Hartley
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Helen Hartley, 74, of Martinsburg, died Sunday, March 1, 1998, at Hartland of Martinsburg.
Born May 27, 1923, in Berkeley County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Raleigh W. and Georgie Pierce Bitner.
She was a 1941 graduate of Martinsburg High School.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
She also was a member of Junior Woman's Club of Martinsburg, and VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Arthur J. Hartley; two daughters, Joyce "Juice" Marshall of Martinsburg, and Cathy Trei of Waynesboro, Pa.; one brother, Raleigh W. Bitner Jr. of Charleston, W.Va.; two grandsons; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Bitner.
Services will be Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg. G. Edward Grove will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.
Viola M.H. Fries
BATAVIA, Ohio - Viola Marie Horner Fries, 76, of Batavia, and formerly of Martinsburg, W.Va., died Sunday, March 1, 1998, at her home.
Born April 2, 1921, in Berkeley County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Hamilton W. and Betty Feltner Horner.
She was a graduate of Johnson Bible College, Knoxville, Tenn.
She was formerly employed by Gay Top Beauty Salon.
She was a member and past president of Pikeview Acres Garden Club.
She is survived by her husband, Clifford L. Fries; one son, Gilbert W. Strobridge; one stepson, D. Michael Fries; two sisters, Janesa Gantt-Northrop and Esther Nisewarner; one granddaughter; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Cedar Grove Christian Church, Sulphur Springs Road, Inwood, W.Va. Leroy K. "Skip" Hurley Jr., evangelist, will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.

Carl W. Faircloth Jr.
BUNKER HILL, W.Va. - Carl William Faircloth Jr., 61, of Bunker Hill, died Sunday, March 1, 1998, at his home.
Born Sept. 9, 1936, in Gerrardstown, W.Va., he was the son of Mary Baumgardner Faircloth Haupt of Berkeley Station, W.Va., and the late Carl William Faircloth Sr.
He was a member of Improved Order of Red Men's Club in Delaware, Ohio.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Karen Lynne Murfield Faircloth; one daughter, Gloria Starliper of Martinsburg, W.Va.; three sons, Gregory Faircloth of Winchester, Va., Douglas Faircloth of Bunker Hill, and Ronald Faircloth of Hedgesville, W.Va.; three sisters, Rosalie Laidig and Reva Lee Carroll, both of Upperstrasburg, Pa., and Frances Hershey of Shippensburg, Pa.; one brother, James Faircloth of Winchester; a half sister, Brenda Wenger of Pleasant Hall, Pa.; six grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Frank Faircloth.
Services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg. Burial will be in Mountainside Tabernacle cemetery with military graveside services conducted by Newton D. Baker Post 896 VFW and Berkeley Post 14 American Legion.

Donald F. DeLorme Sr.
PALM HARBOR, Fla. - Donald Francis DeLorme Sr., 46, of Palm Harbor, and formerly of Shepherdstown, W.Va., died at his home Sunday, March 1, 1998, of complications from diabetes.
Born in Westfield, Mass., he was the son of Lydia Ann DeLorme of Morehead City, N.C., and the late Donald Albert DeLorme.
He graduated summa cum laude from Shepherd College in 1973.
He worked as a computer analyst for Time Magazine in Tampa, Fla.
He was active in West Virginia Jaycees, Shepherdstown, Charles Town and Berkeley Springs chapters. He received awards for his Jaycee activities. He also was a volunteer paramedic with Shepherdstown Fire Department; Scoutmaster for Troup 4 in Palm Harbor, and was an assistant with Boy Scouts in Shepherdstown.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 23 years, Anna Marie LeLorme; one daughter, Jennifer Kristen DeLorme, at home; one son, Donald Francis DeLorme Jr., at home; and aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 9 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Shepherdstown.

Robert L. Hite
KEARNEYSVILLE, W.Va. - Robert L. Hite, 72, of Kearneysville, died Monday, March 2, 1998, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born Feb. 13, 1926, in Martinsburg, he was the son of the late Robert L. and Helen Kesner Hite.
A U.S. Army veteran, he served during World War II and the Korean War.
He retired from the Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Fouch Hite; two sisters, Jean McBee of Baltimore and Elizabeth Wall of Martinsburg; two brothers, Donald Hite of Inwood, W.Va., and Kenneth Hite of Reading, Pa.; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Ann Corder; and one brother, Harold Hite.
Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. John E. Wright will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery.

Born June 27, 1953, in Carbondale, Pa., he was the son of Robert and Mary McDonald West of Bunker Hill.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Katrina Mandas West; two daughters, Melissa Weist of Pleasant Mount, Pa., and Bobbi Jo West, at home; two sons, Robert J. West Jr. of Hedgesville, W.Va., and Jeremy L. West, at home; one stepson, Kris Mandas of Philadelphia; two sisters, Patricia Thompson of Bunker Hill and Donna Broce of Pleasant Mount; one brother, Paul West of Bunker Hill; and one granddaughter.

RICHMOND, W.Va. - James Saylor Jett, 84, of Richmond, died Thursday, Feb. 26, 1998, at Ridgewood Nursing Home.
Born June 14, 1913, in Martinsburg, W.Va., he was the son of the late Roland and Sally Jett.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ida Mae Jett.
He worked for the City of Martinsburg, retiring after more than 30 years.
He was a member of Shenandoah Bible Baptist Church, Martinsburg.
He was featured in the Martinsburg Journal regarding his knowledge of the city's history.
He is survived by granddaughters, Dolores A. Gibbs of Washington, D.C., and Sylvia E. Johnson of Hagerstown; grandsons, Walter B. Boyd III and Jerome James Boyd, both of Martinsburg, and William Lewis of Hagerstown; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Doris Ann Jett Boyd; and one sister Lucy Jett Wyatt.
Graveside services will be held today at 11 a.m. at Pleasant View Memory Gardens. The Rev. Don Smith will officiate.
The family will receive friends today one hour prior to the service at the cemetery.

Catherine E. Terovolas
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Catherine Ewing Terovolas, 98, formerly of Martinsburg, died Wednesday, March 4, 1998, at Quincy United Methodist Catholic Nursing Home, Quincy, Pa.
Born March 14, 1899, in Frederick County, Va., she was the daughter of the late Rev. David Weldon Otterbein Ewing and Laura Hott Bailey.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Terovolas, in 1959.
She had been a secretary at the Veterans Affairs Center, the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.; and a legal secretary in New York City.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Newport News, Va.; and a former member of Foundry United Methodist Church in Washington, D.C.
She is survived by one nephew, Frederick Ewing of Newport News; two nieces, Josephine Balzer of Newport News and Emalee Durbin of Corvallis, Ore.; and two cousins.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, David Weldon Ewing and Joseph Otterbein Ewing.
Graveside services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Old Stone Church cemetery, White Hall, Va. The Rev. G. Edward Grove will officiate.
