RANSON, W.Va. - Dale Merle Locke, 39, of Ranson, died Wednesday, March 4, 1998, at his home.
Born Oct. 30, 1958, in Frederick County, Va., she was the daughter of Arthur Edward Locke of Summit Point, W.Va., and the late Maxine Moss Craig Locke.
She was a self-employed certified nursing assistant.
In addition to her father, she is survived by one daughter, Melissa Dawn Reid of Charles Town, W.Va.; two sons, Ronald William Everhart Jr. of Winchester, Va., and Jerry Wayne Reid Jr. of Charles Town; one brother, Lloyd Allen Locke, of Charles Town; and one sister, Lee Moore, of Charles Town; and her companion, Samuel Addison Long of Ranson.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home, 114 N. Mildred St., Ranson. Pastor Mike Lowrey will officiate. Burial will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park, Winchester.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Dana F. Warriner
RANSON, W.Va. - Dana Francis Warriner, 70, of Ranson, died Wednesday, March 4, 1998, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born June 21, 1927, in Wellsboro, Pa., he was the son of the late Ralph R. and Helen Kimball Warriner.
He served with the U.S. Air Force, retiring in 1970.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Helen Patten Warriner; one daughter, Lesa L. Armel of Summit Point, W.Va.; two brothers, Ralph Roland Warriner Sr. of Ranson and William Warriner of Alabama; four grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Delbert H. Warriner.
Graveside services will be held Saturday at noon at Edge Hill cemetery. Dr. Wyman E. Hall and Michael Richmond will officiate.

Kenneth D. Wageley
BUNKER HILL, W.Va. - Kenneth Dunn Wageley, 89, of Bunker Hill, died Thursday, March 5, 1998, at City Hospital, Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born June 22, 1908 in Pitcairn, Pa., he was the son of the late Bernard W. and Blanche Dunn Wageley.
He was retired from Standard Lime & Cement.
He was a member of Barbell Club of York, Pa.
He crafted furniture by hand from cedar obtained at Priest Field in Inwood, W.Va. Many of his creations are now in use at Priest Field.
He is survived by three nieces, Patricia Cassell, Beverley Miller and Shirley Pierce; one nephew, Joe Hulver; and one granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Charlotte Hulver and Berdell Nageley; and two brothers, Dalton Wageley and Tevis Wageley.
Graveside services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Rosedale cemetery. The Rev. William C. Crowe will officiate.

William L. Prather
BOLIVAR, W.Va. - William "Bill" Leo Prather, 86, formerly of West Spring Street, died Thursday, March 5, 1998, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson, W.Va.
Born June 1, 1911, in Alabama, he was the son of the late John S. and Mary Slay Prather.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Louise Prather.
He retired from Mayflower Hotel, Washington, D.C.
He was a member of Camp Hill Wesley United Methodist Church, Harpers Ferry, W.Va.
He is survived by two sisters, Bessie Prather and Mary McClellan, both of Seale, Ala.; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Fishbaugh Prather; one sister, Alice Atkins; and one brother, Chuck Prather.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Eackles-Spencer Funeral Home, Harpers Ferry. The Rev. Royce Simpson will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens, Martinsburg, W.Va.

Dr. Arthur G. Slonaker
SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Dr. Arthur Gordon Slonaker, 78, of Shepherdstown, died Thursday, March 5, 1998, at City Hospital, Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born May 29, 1919, in Capon Bridge, W.Va., he was the son of the late Arthur B. and Carrie Shanholtzer Slonaker.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjory B. Slonaker, in 1997.
He graduated at the age of 19 from Shepherd College; received his master's degree from West Virginia University in 1941; and his doctorate in education from the University of Virginia in 1958; and an honorary doctor's degree from Shepherd College in 1996.
He was a veteran of World War II, receiving a battlefield commission during the invasion of France; and achieved the rank of lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves.
He was principal of Romney High School from 1947 to 1954; academic dean of Shepherd College from 1958 to 1973; and executive dean of Potomac State College from 1973 to 1978.
He wrote "The History of Shepherd College," and was named outstanding alumnus in 1974. Stutzman Slonaker Hall on the Shepherd College campus was named in his honor.
He was a member of New Street United Methodist Church.
He was a member of Shepherdstown Men's Club; Lion's Club; Kappa Delta Phi; Phi Delta Kappa; NEA; and served on the board of directors of the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce; and several Shepherd College memberships.
He is survived by one daughter, Janet Ann Slonaker of Winchester, Va.; one son, John Gordon Slonaker of Shepherdstown; one brother, William B. Slonaker of Capon Bridge, W.Va.; two granddaughters; and one great-grandson, all of Winchester.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, John Scott Slonaker, in 1991; and two sisters.
Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at New Street United Methodist Church, Shepherdstown. Burial will be in Mount Hebron cemetery, Winchester.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. Friends also may call Monday one hour prior to the services at the church.

Karry A. Mummert
BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Karry A. Mummert, 70, of Berkeley Springs, died Saturday, March 7, 1998, at his home.
Born Jan. 25, 1928, in Washington County, he was the son of the late John Henry and Bessie Blanche Carbaugh Mummert.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army.
He retired from Allegheny Power in 1989.
He was of the Methodist faith.
He is survived by his wife, Maxine Perry Mummert, whom he married Feb. 18, 1950; one daughter, Sherry Hermanowski of East Troy, Wis.; three sons, Jeff Mummert and Rodney Mummert, both of Berkeley Springs and Kenneth Mummert of Hagerstown; five sisters, Olive Shoemaker and Helen Lerch, both of Hagerstown, Dorothy Shoemaker and Madeline Hutson, both of Clear Spring and Virginia Flanagan of Westminster, Md.; two grandsons; three granddaughters; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Catherine Zello and Norine Carbaugh; and three brothers, John Mummert, Loren Mummert and Rolan Mummert.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Hunter-Anderson Funeral Home, 106 S. Mercer St., Berkeley Springs. The Rev. Owen Womack will officiate. Burial will be in Greenway cemetery, Berkeley Springs.

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Lester "Lee" Young, 80, of Berkeley Springs, died Friday, March 6, 1998, at his home.
Born Aug. 20, 1917, in Morgan County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Arick and Lillian Wachter Young.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marjorie Madora Henry Young, in 1973.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Navy.
He retired in 1982 after 40 years of service as a heavy equipment and crusher operator with U.S. Silica in Berkeley Springs.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Berkeley Springs.
He was a member of AARP; and Webster B. Harrison American Legion Post 26, Hancock.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Marguerite A. Henry Hewett Young; one daughter, Karen J. Young of Berkeley Springs; one son, David L. Young of Manassas, Va.; two stepdaughters, Gay Wooldridge of Warfordsburg, Pa. and Carolyn Healy of Chambersburg, Pa.; two sisters, Jane Webster of Berkeley Springs and Charlotte Hines of Fairmont, W.Va.; one brother, Arick "Ray" Young of Berkeley Springs; five grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Mildred Geronimo.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs. The Rev. Henry L. Fisher will officiate. Burial with full military graveside honors provided by Tri-State Honor Guard will be in Greenway cemetery, Berkeley Springs.

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Raymond Eugene Rollins, 79, of Charles Town, died Friday, March 6, 1998, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson, W.Va.
Born April 15, 1918, in Virginia, he was the son of the late Andrew and Annie Stewart Rollins.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alma Catherine Rollins, in 1980.
He retired from Halltown Paper Board Co., Halltown, W.Va. Earlier, he was employed with Harry M. Stevens Caterer's at Charles Town Racetrack, Charles Town.
He was a member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church, Charles Town.
He is survived by two sisters, Corrine Coleman and Alame Flintall, both of Baltimore; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; six nieces and two nephews.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Norma E. Floyd.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, 310 Fairfax Blvd., Charles Town. The Rev. Sherman Mason will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens, Martinsburg, W.Va.
