Beatrice L. Reid

FALLING WATERS, W.Va. - Beatrice Lee Miller Reid, 89, of Falling Waters, died Saturday, March 7, 1998, at Heartland of Martinsburg.

Born Sept. 12, 1908, in Berkeley County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Harry T. and Florence Onelia Yarlett Miller.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Clement Reid Sr.

She was an Avon saleswoman for more than 25 years.

She was a member of Harmony United Methodist Church.

She was the leader of Marlowe Busy Bees 4-H Club; and a 4-H All Star.

She was a member of Marlowe Extension Homemakers for more than 50 years.

She is survived by three daughters, Beverly M. Bondurant of Hinton, Va., Genevieve E. McWilliams of Falling Waters and Ginger D. Grimes of Martinsburg, W.Va.; two sons, Leroy C. Reid Jr. of Anchorage, Alaska and Glenn N. Reid of Biglerville, Pa.; 20 grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four sisters, Pauline Mercer, Dolly Clipp, Bessie Hedges and Dorothy Nichols; four brothers, Berkeley Miller, Roy Miller, Holly Miller and Millard Miller; and three infant siblings, Ada Miller, Holmer Miller and Melvia Miller.

Services will be Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. at Harmony United Methodist Church. The Rev. Ray Roberson and the Rev. John E. Wright will officiate. Burial will be in Harmony cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. Visitation also will be Tuesday from 10 to 11:30 a.m. prior to the services at the church.

William L. Boyce

RANSON, W.Va. - William Lee "Bill" Boyce, 41, of 503 N. Reymann St., died Saturday, March 7, 1998, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson.

Born Sept. 22, 1956, in Frederick, Md., he was the son of Betty Hoffman Boyce of Brunswick, Md., and the late Milton Eugene Boyce.

He was a retired carpenter in construction.

He was of the Protestant faith.

He was a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 948, Moose Legionnaires and VFW Post 3522, all of Charles Town, W.Va. He was a member of bowling leagues at Shenandoah Lanes in Charles Town and Pikeside Bowl in Martinsburg, W.Va.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Patsy Jenkins Boyce; two daughters, Adaira Barrow and Kaila Barrow, both at home; four sons, Jason Boyce and Daryl Barrow, both of Martinsburg, Darin Barrow, at home, and Duane Barrow of Ranson; two sisters, Treasa Stocks of Brunswick and Barbara Boyce of Petersville, Md.; and three brothers, Michael Boyce and Ronald Boyce, both of Brunswick, and Raymond Boyce of Knoxville, Tenn.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Michael W. Boyce.

Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Eackles-Spencer Funeral Home, Harpers Ferry, W.Va. Pastor C.D. Coley will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens, Martinsburg.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Margaret E. Rubush

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Margaret E. Rubush, 89, formerly of Martinsburg, died Saturday, March 7, 1998, at Chesapeake Health Care, Arnold, Md.

Born May 4, 1908, in Purkettsville, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Oceola and Mary Hayes Fout.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Wade Rubush.

She was a 1927 graduate of City Hospital Nursing School.

She was employed as a supervisor/registered nurse by City Hospital, Martinsburg, for more than 40 years. She continued to work there until 1986 in association with the Heart Clinic.

She was a member of Pikeside United Methodist Church.

She was a member of Golden Rule Chapter 69, Order of Eastern Star.

She is survived by one daughter, Barbara Lowrance of Charlotte, N.C.; one son, James W. Rubush of Annapolis; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Frances Rubush; one sister, Thelma Stemple; and two brothers, Floris Fout and Robert Fout.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Pikeside United Methodist Church, 100 Paynes Ford Road, Martinsburg. The Rev. Mike Harsh will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens, Martinsburg.

The family will receive friends at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg, Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m., where a nurse's memorial service will be at 7:30 p.m. All area nurses are invited.

Alfred W. Sine

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Alfred W. "Buddy" Sine, 50, of Martinsburg, died Sunday, March 8, 1998, in Martinsburg.

Born Dec. 9, 1947, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Lester and Hazel Bowers Sine.

He was a graduate of Martinsburg High School and Shepherd College.

He attended St. Luke's United Methodist Church.

He was a member of Martinsburg Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 120.

He is survived by one son, Rodney W. Sine, at home; one sister, Sharon Juanita Sine Robinson of Orlando, Fla.; and four brothers, Charles Curtis Sine, Richard Oliver Sine, Gary Lester Sine and Donald Ray Sine, all of Martinsburg.

Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. Arlene R. Carr will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery, Martinsburg.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Thomas A. Cooper

HARPERS FERRY, W.Va. - Thomas Alan Cooper, 40, of Harpers Ferry, died Sunday, March 8, 1998, at City Hospital, Martinsburg, W.Va.

Born Dec. 1, 1957, in Leesburg, Va., he was the son of Roy Franklin Cooper Sr. of Harpers Ferry and the late Guilda I. Dillow Cooper.

He was a retired cable TV installer in Northern Virginia.

He was of the Methodist faith.

In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife of 20 years, Debra Lynn "Debbie" Taylor Cooper; two sons, Thomas Alan Cooper Jr., stationed with the U.S. Navy in Portsmouth, Va., and Joseph Kevin Cooper, at home; one brother, Roy Franklin Cooper Jr. of Harpers Ferry; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Shawn Marie Cooper.

Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town, W.Va. The Rev. Basil Day will officiate. Burial will be in St. Andrews on the Mount Episcopal Church Yard cemetery, Harpers Ferry.

Visitation will be at the funeral home Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to Jefferson County Cancer Society, P.O. Box 40, Ranson, W.Va. 25438.

John J. Peacher

FALLING WATERS, W.Va. - The Rev. John J. Peacher, 67, of Falling Waters, died Sunday, March 8, 1998, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Towson, Md.

Born May 16, 1930, in Harpers Ferry, W.Va., he was the son of the late William Lee and Annie Rankin Peacher.

He was formerly an Assemblies of God minister and pastor for 20 years. He pioneered the Assembly of God Church on W.Va. 45 in Shepherdstown, W.Va., in the 1960s. He also pastored in Orange and Catlett, Va., Frederick, Md., and Lockhart, Fla. He retired in 1990.

A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife, Nina Lee Hines Peacher; two sons, John R. "Randy" Peacher of Harpers Ferry and Steven K. Peacher of Altoona, Pa.; one sister, Mary Smith of Hagerstown; one brother, Paul Peacher of Hagerstown; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Paul C. Peacher and Michael A. Peacher; two sisters, Bea Beichler and Rosie Jackson; and four brothers, Leon Peacher, Earl Peacher, Lindy Peacher and Charles Peacher.

Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at New Hope Assembly of God Church, W.Va. 45, Shepherdstown. The Rev. Jim Richard will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg, W.Va., Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

James E. Reid

FALLING WATERS, W.Va. - James Edward Reid, 75, of 1004 Magnolia Lane, died Tuesday, March 10, 1998, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Martinsburg, W.Va.

Born March 31, 1922, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late Ralph Robert and Genevieve Thompson Reid.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He was employed with Capital Milk Producers Cooperative.

He was a member of John Wesley United Methodist Church, Hagerstown.

He was a member of VFW 1936; Loyal Order of Moose 212; FOE 694; and AARP.

He is survived by his wife, Alice L. Reid; one daughter, Carolyn Mallett of Denver; three sons, Thomas Reid, Donald Reid and Martin Reid, all of Gaithersburg, Md.; three stepdaughters, Carol Lilly of Rockville, Md., Susan Lescalleet of Big Pool, Md., and Joyce Geyer of Hagerstown; one stepson, Curtis Pietro of Hagerstown; one sister, Margaret Garrett of Washington, D.C.; one brother, Raymond Reid of Rockville; two grandchildren; and five stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Alfred Reid; and one brother, Ralph Reid.

Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Louis L. Emerick will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven cemetery, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Calvin C. Staubs Sr.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Calvin Coolidge Staubs Sr., 73, of Martinsburg, died Tuesday, March 10, 1998, at Veteran's Affairs Medical Center, Martinsburg.

Born March 28, 1924, in Harpers Ferry, W.Va., he was the son of the late Whinter Lewis and Georgia Virginia Piper Staubs.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater.

He was employed by Cushwa Brick, Williamsport; and Frederick Foundations, Frederick, Md.

He was a member of People's Gospel Tabernacle Church, Hagerstown, and was an ordained minister.

He was a member of W.D. Byron Post 1936 VFW, Hagerstown.

He is survived by two daughters, Sharon K. Apperson of Frederick and Cheryl J. Butler of Clear Spring; two sons, Calvin C. Starbs Jr. and Thomas P. Staubs, both of Martinsburg; two sisters, Eula Pulse Jones and Josephine Dodson, both of Martinsburg; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Margie Knipple, Mazie Henderson and Betty Miller; and three brothers, Richard Gray, Raymond Gray and George Franklin Staubs.

Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport. The Rev. Everett W. Powell will officiate. Burial will be in Harmony cemetery, Falling Waters, W.Va., with military graveside services provided by Morris Frock American Legion Post 42, Hagerstown.

Friends may call Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will be open after 9 a.m. for the convenience of family and friends.
