HARPERS FERRY, W.Va. - Barbara Stubbs Offutt, 64, of Route 3, died Sunday, March 29, 1998, at College View Center, Frederick, Md.
Born Aug. 8, 1933, in Kensington, Md., she was the daughter of the late Eugene O. and Thelma Riggin Stubbs.
She was a member of Engle United Methodist Church, Harpers Ferry.
She was a member of Harpers Ferry Woman's Club and Jefferson Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Lee Offutt; a daughter, Karen France of Victor, Mont.; two sons, Thomas L. Offutt Jr. of Elizabethtown, Ky., and Timothy Offutt at home; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Stubbs.
A memorial service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Engle United Methodist Church, Harpers Ferry. The Rev. Royce L. Simpson will officiate. Burial will be in Park Lawn cemetery, Rockville, Md.

Elmira C. Dennis
HARPERS FERRY, W.Va. - Elmira Cole Dennis, 88, of 1070 Ridge St., died Sunday, March 29, 1998, at her home.
Born July 11, 1909, in Culpeper, Va., she was the daughter of the late Charles Thomas and Flora Belle Madden Cole.
She retired from the housekeeping department at the Cliffside Inn, Harpers Ferry.
She is survived by four daughters, Dorothy Certaine of Philadelphia, Carol Flemming of Springfield, Pa., Mary Burnette of Willingboro, N.J., and Patricia Ann Jackson of Harpers Ferry; a sister, Zola White of Charles Town, W.Va.; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Rita Wilson; and a son, Leslie Dennis Jr.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Eackles-Spencer Funeral Home, Harpers Ferry. The Rev. Carroll E. Johnson and Bishop E.E. Baltimore will officiate.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Timothy C. Gavin
HARPERS FERRY, W.Va. - Timothy Christopher "Tim" Gavin, 37, of Shannondale, died Sunday, March 29, 1998, in Davis, Tucker County, W.Va.
Born Aug. 18, 1960, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of William G. and Mary B. Gavin of Happy Retreat, Charles Town, W.Va.
He was a 1978 graduate of Jefferson High School.
He was the beverage manager at his family's Cliffside Inn, Harpers Ferry.
He was a member of St. James Catholic Church, Charles Town.
He was well-known in area white water rafting and kayaking circles.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a son, Eric C. Gavin of Shepherdstown, W.Va.; four sisters, Susan Lee Stocks and Rosemary Gavin Hooe, both of Charles Town, and Sally Gavin Jackson and Margaret Mary "Meg" Bowman, both of Martinsburg, W.Va.; three brothers, John B. Gavin and Michael P. Gavin, both of Harpers Ferry, and William G. Gavin of Aiken, S.C.; five nieces; and five nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, Charles Town. The Rev. Lawrence J. Gesy and the Rev. Brian Owens will be celebrants. Burial will be in Harper cemetery, Harpers Ferry.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town, where a wake service will be held at 8 p.m.

Frieda B. Gallion
RANSON, W.Va. - Frieda Blanche Gallion, 81, of Ranson, died Tuesday, March 31, 1998, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital.
Born Aug. 27, 1916, in Jefferson County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary Beahm.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Gallion.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Tri-State Baptist Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Mary Lou Watson of Hickory, N.C.
She was preceded in death by one son, William Yinger; three sisters, Grace Vick, Erma Wiley and Beulah Ring; and four brothers, Virgel Beahm, Earl Beahm, James Beahm and Kenneth Beahm.
Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home, Ranson. Pastor Ray Love will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens, Martinsburg, W.Va.

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Sandra Lee Aikens, 53, of Charles Town, died Tuesday, March 31, 1998, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson, W.Va.
Born Dec. 27, 1944, in Bunker Hill, W.Va., she was the daughter of Julia Bayer Rogers of Martinsburg, W.Va., and the late Ellsworth Rogers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Aikens Jr.
She was a cook for eight years at IHS of Charles Town.
She was a member of Trinity Gospel Assembly of God Church, Charles Town.
She is survived by two daughters, Vickie Lynn Bain of Daytona, Fla., and Terry L. Aikens at home; a son, Charles E. Aikens III of Martinsburg; one sister, Roxanne Cole of Bunker Hill; one brother, Kurt Rogers of Martinsburg; one half sister, Shirley Ann Rogers of Hawaii, one half brother, Ellsworth "Bugsy" Rogers Jr. of Bunker HIll; six grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Marie Womer.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Dolores A. Valone, 62, of Martinsburg, died Monday, March 30, 1998, at her home.
Born July 9, 1935, in Martinsburg, she was the daughter of the late Norman and Tressa Ramey Stokes.
She was a member of Newton D. Baker Post 896, VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by three daughters, Cheryl DeHaven, Robin Tedrick and Mickie Valone, all of Martinsburg; one brother, J. R. Stokes of Martinsburg; three grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Russell Valone Jr.

Robert M. Hague
MIDDLEWAY, W.Va. - Robert M. Hague, 88, of Middleway, died Tuesday, March 31, 1998, at his home.
Born Sept. 29, 1909, in Stockbridge, Mich., he was the son of the late Orrie and Minnie Richmond Hague.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Monica M. Eppel Hague, in 1964.
A World War II veteran, he served in the U.S. Army on Okinawa.
He was a machinist and automobile mechanic for Eberbach Corp., Ann Arbor, Mich., until his retirement in 1976.
He is survived by a daughter, Carol L. Wangdahl of Arnold, Md.; a son, R. Paul Hague of Ann Arbor; a sister, Irene Gauss of Haslett, Mich.; a brother, Philip Hague of Ann Arbor; and two grandsons.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 18, at 3 p.m. at Washtenong cemetery Memorial Chapel, Ann Arbor. The Rev. Ann Jerema will officiate. Burial will be in Washtenong cemetery.

FALLING WATERS, W.Va. - Barbara Anne Mellott, 61, of Falling Waters, died Tuesday, March 31, 1998, at Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown.
Born July 27, 1936, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Roland G. and Ruth E. Cooper Stoddard.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William L. Mellott, in 1990.
She was a member of New Life Christian Ministries, Williamsport.
She is survived by two daughters, Cindy L. Poggie of Falling Waters and Debra S. King of Martinsburg, W.Va.; a son, William R. Mellott of Falling Waters; three sisters, Frances Smith and Catherine Doyle, both of Hagerstown, and Joyce Inskeep of Culpeper, Va.; and four grandchildren.
Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown. Pastor Ken Harris will officiate. Burial will be in Beaver Creek cemetery, Beaver Creek.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Marjorine A. Nealis Funkhouser, 73, of Martinsburg, died Thursday, April 2, 1998, at her home.
Born Feb. 12, 1925, in Augusta, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Harley W. and Matilda E. Saville Nealis.
She was a retired cook from the Berkeley County schools.
She was a member of Martinsburg Church of Christ.
She is survived by her husband, of 54 years, Harold R. Funkhouser; two daughters, Shirley R. Callahan and Sharon K. Lambert, both of Martinsburg; one son, Ronald R. Funkhouser of Inwood; three brothers, Loring Nealis of Mineral Wells, Texas, Lloyd Nealis of Stephens City, Va., and Olva Nealis of Martinsburg; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Martinsburg Church of Christ. The Rev. Robert Eckman and the Rev. Harry DeRidder will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery.
