MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Clyde R. Tyson, 80, of Martinsburg, died Tuesday, April 14, 1998 at Heartland of Martinsburg.
Born Nov. 5, 1917, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Charles and Amy Dorance Tyson.
He retired from the B&O Railroad.
He was a member of the Johnsontown Church of the Brethren.
He was a member of Loyal Order of Moose, Martinsburg Lodge 120.
He is survived by his wife, Ethel Virginia Manford Grove Tyson; two daughters, Frances Lewis of Winchester, Va., and Penny Fay Anderson of Clearbrook, Va.; two sons, Baker Tyson and Tommy Tyson, both of Winchester, Va.; one stepdaughter, Betty Jean Snow of Martinsburg; one stepson, Albert Charles Grove of Alexandria, Va.; one sister, Fay Klaja of Pittsburgh; 10 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Lois Tyson Boarman; three brothers, Merle Tyson, George Tyson and John Tyson; and one grandson, Tommy L. Tyson.
Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg. The Rev. Paul C. Stanley will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.
Ollie L. Tolbert
CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Ollie Lightfoot Tolbert, 98, of Charles Town, died Sunday, April 12, 1998, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson, W.Va.
Born July 24, 1899, in Berryville, Va., she was the daughter of the late George William and Josephine Hull Lightfoot.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward D. Tolbert, whom she married in 1920.
She attended public school in Pittsburgh; and St. Paul's College, Lawrenceville, Va.
She taught in Millwood, Va.; and worked for the West Virginia Department of Public Assistance, now Department of Health and Human Services, as a social worker for 29 years. She retired in 1963.
She was a member of St. Philip's Episcopal Church. She was past president of Episcopal Church Women; Sunday school superintendent; and a junior choir sponsor.
She was past matron of Deborah Chapter 38 Order of the Eastern Star; former member of Charles Town Landmarks Commission; and a former member of Modern Maids and Matrons' Social Club. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post 631; United Way; Farmers Home Administration Advisory Committee; a volunteer for Jefferson Memorial Hospital; Charles Drew Auxiliary of the American Red Cross; and an Eagle Avenue School PTA member. She was a member of NAACP; and the originator of the Jefferson County African-American Heritage and Cultural Festival.
She is survived by a daughter, Edwina D. Tolbert of Charles Town; a son, James A. Tolbert Sr., of Charles Town; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Marion Tolbert Taylor; a son, William W. Tolbert Sr.; a grandson, Gregory Tolbert; three sisters, Katie Young, Josephine Lighfoot and Florence McDougal; and three brothers, George Parker, Clifford Lightfoot and Howard Lightfoot.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Philips Episcopal Church, Charles Town. The Rev. Jane Kempster will officiate. Burial will be in Milton Valley cemetery, Berryville.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8 p.m. at Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home, Ranson, W.Va.

Olive R. Twigg
BOLIVAR, W.Va. - Olive Ruby Twigg, 84, of Spring Street in Bolivar, died Monday, April 13, 1998, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson, W.Va.
Born March 22, 1914, in Great Cacapon, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Adam Champ and Dora Allmongy Spring.
She was a retired U.S. government employee in Bluemont, Va.
She was of the Pentecostal faith.
She was a member of the American Federation of Government Workers, Local 1754.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Russell E. Twigg; two daughters, Linda J. Giffen and Jo Anne Milbourne, both of Harpers Ferry, W.Va.; one son, Russell N. Twigg of Brunswick, Md.; one sister, Mildred Linthicum of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Ronald L. Twigg; six sisters; and five brothers.
Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Eackles-Spencer Funeral Home, Harpers Ferry. The Rev. James R. Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens, Martinsburg, W.Va.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Blanche H. Miller
SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Blanche H. Miller, 98, of Canterbury of Shepherdstown, died Monday, April 13, 1998, at City Hospital, Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born Oct. 27, 1899, she was the daughter of the late James P. and Lottie Mason Hovermale. She was raised by her stepmother, the late Lillie Cain Hovermale, of Martinsburg.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ellsworth F. Miller, in 1972.
She was a 1919 graduate of Martinsburg High School.
She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church.
She was a member of City Hospital Auxiliary and Volunteers for more than 40 years.
She is survived by one son, Paul Miller of Martinsburg; one daughter, June M. Vandegrift of Martinsburg; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one son, Ellsworth Miller Jr.; one sister, Edith H. Walburn; and one brother, Buford F. Hovermale.
Private service and burial will be at the convenience of the family.
There will be no visitation.
Arrangements are by Rosedale Funeral Chapel.
Ruby S. Taylor
BUNKER HILL, W.Va. - Ruby S. Taylor, 80, of Bunker Hill, died Tuesday, April 14, 1998, at Heartland of Martinsburg.
Born Nov. 8, 1917, in Natchez, Miss., she was the daughter of the late Joel Harvey Sandifer and Florence Edna Turnipseed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, O.T. Taylor, in 1995.
She was a supervisor for the D.C. Transit Co.
She is survived by three sons, Robert Taylor of Rockville, Md.; John Taylor of Herndon, Va.; and Guy Taylor of Bunker Hill; four sisters, Addie Stephens of Vicksburg, Miss.; Hazel Miller of Gulfport, Miss.; Erma Phillips of Yazoo City, Miss.; and Peggy Wilson of Rolling Fork, Miss.
She was preceded in death by one son; three sisters; and three brothers.
A graveside memorial service will be Friday at 11 a.m. in Winchester National cemetery, Winchester, Va.

INWOOD, W.Va. - Christopher E. Begeman, 7, of Inwood, died Saturday, April 11, 1998, in Fairfax Hospital in Fairfax, Va.
Born Aug. 18, 1990, in Martinsburg, W.Va., he was the son of Stephen J. Begeman and Jeana Costello.
He was a first-grade student at Gerrardstown Elementary School.
He attended Berkeley Place United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by one sister, Stephanie Begeman, at home; two brothers, Andre Costello and his twin, Thomas J. Begeman, both at home; his grandparents, Ethel L. Hutzler of Martinsburg, Rita A. Begeman of Indianapolis, Ind., and John T. Begeman of Novato, Calif.; his great-grandparents, Beulah Hutzler of Martinsburg, and Joe and Eva Banister of Hope, Ind.; and aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg. The Rev. Harvey M. Bane will officiate. Burial will be in Paynes Chapel cemetery.

Calvin C. Reeler
HARPERS FERRY, W.Va. - Calvin Christopher Reeler, 74, of 1051 Putnam St., died Tuesday, April 14, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Dec. 24, 1923, in Harpers Ferry, he was the son of the late Francis Benjamin and Sadie Frances Jackson Reeler.
He was a 1950 graduate of Storer College, receiving a degree in Business Administration.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.
Before retirement, he worked as a supply specialist with Veterans Medical Center at Martinsburg, W.Va., for 35 years.
He was a member of Camp Hill-Wesley United Methodist Church, Harpers Ferry.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Ruby Brown Reeler; two daughters, Rhonda Marie Smith and Lauren Anita Stubbs, both of Charles Town, W.Va.; three sons, Calvin C. Reeler Jr. of Ranson, W.Va., Anthony C. Reeler of Charles Town and Lloyd F. Reeler of Harpers Ferry; one sister, Josephine Harper of Toledo, Ohio; one brother, Lionel B. Reeler of Orlando, Fla.; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Inez Spriggs; and two brothers, Charles R. Reeler and Oscar D. Reeler.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Eackles-Spencer Funeral Home, Harpers Ferry. The Rev. Edward R. Greene will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Hill cemetery, Harpers Ferry.

FALLING WATERS, W.Va. - Charles Max Hutton, 69, of Falling Waters, died Tuesday, April 14, 1998, at his home.
Born Jan. 26, 1929, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Charles M. and Grace M. James Hutton.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force.
He was a retired ironworker.
He was of the Presbyterian faith.
He was a member of Ironworkers Local Union 568; a life member of Newton D. Baker Post 896 VFW; and a member of American Legion Post 0202 in Williamsport.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Ann Mix Hutton; three daughters, Charlotte Wean of Falling Waters, Cherylnn R. Henderson of Martinsburg, W.Va., and Betty M. Jennings, at home; six sons, Richard Lee Hutton, John F. Hutton and Joseph F. Hutton, all of Falling Waters, Robert Steven Hutton of Martinsburg, Thomas J. Hutton and Damon S. Hutton, both at home; one sister, Betty Hutton Osbourn of Martinsburg; 25 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Charles Max Hutton Jr. and Phillip S. Hutton; one grandson; one sister, Emma Fay Hutton; and three brothers, Donald Hutton, Bruce Hutton and William Hutton.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. Lon Snelson and the Rev. John E. Wright will officiate. Burial will be in Gerrardstown Presbyterian cemetery.
