Lillian E. Gralow

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Lillian Eleane Gralow, 86, of Berkeley Springs, and formerly of Denver, died Saturday, April 18, 1998, at Valley View Nursing Home in Berkeley Springs.

Born Oct. 9, 1911, in Boise, Idaho, she was the daughter of the late Joseph H. and Winnie Allen Hiester.

She worked for many years as a housekeeper in Denver.

She was of the Protestant faith.

She is survived by one daughter, Barbara J. Smith of Cross Junction, Va.; one son, William E. Gralow of Seattle; and seven grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Richard P. Gralow.

Services and burial will be private.

The family will receive friends at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs, today from 2 to 4 p.m. The funeral home will be open today from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the convenience of friends.

Henry E. Elkins

INWOOD, W.Va. - Henry E. Elkins, 84, of Inwood, died Saturday, April 18, 1998, at Heartland Nursing Home.

Born April 21, 1913, in Hempstead, Texas, he was the son of the late James Henry and Blanche Pitchford Elkins.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Katherine Cox Elkins, and his last wife, Wilma Lightsey Elkins.

He was retired from American Bakeries.

He was a member of the Central Baptist Church in Katy, Texas.

He was a member of Waltrip Lodge 1328, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons.

He is survived by his son, Earl Elkins of Inwood.

Services will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Waltrip Funeral Home, 1415 Campbell, Houston, Texas. Burial will be in Shilo cemetery in Prairie View, Texas.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Local arrangements were by Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg, W.Va.

John B. Hoke Jr.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - John Boyd Hoke Jr., 60, of Martinsburg, died Saturday, April 18, 1998, at his home.

Born March 8, 1938, in Martinsburg, her was the son of the late John Boyd and Helen Kingsley Hoke.

He was a graduate of Mercersburg Academy, Washington & Lee University and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

He was a civil engineer and former local business owner.

He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church and a former vestryman.

He was an Eagle Scout and a former director of One Valley Bank and Old National Bank.

He is survived by three daughters, Katherine Hensell Hoke of Breckenridge, Colo., and Ann Alter and Jane Hoke Sandlin, both of Martinsburg; one son, John Boyd Hoke of Martinsburg; one brother, Wallace K. Bishop of Martinsburg; and one granddaughter.

Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church. The Rev. Jack T. Sutor Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg.

Memorial donations may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church, 200 W. King St., Martinsburg, W.Va. 25401.

Warren C. McDaniel

GERRARDSTOWN, W.Va. - Warren Conard McDaniel, 76, of Gerrardstown, died Sunday, April 19, 1998, at his home.

Born Nov. 14, 1921, in Martinsburg, W.Va., he was the son of the late Benjamin F. and Cora Hite McDaniel.

He was a carpenter.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Richmond McDaniel; two daughters, Patsy Teets and Rebecca McDaniel, both at home; three sons, Conard Nixon McDaniel, Richard Abraham McDaniel and Howard Joseph McDaniel, all at home; one sister, Grace Rogers of Martinsburg; three brothers, Herbert McDaniel of Charles Town, W.Va., Clyde McDaniel and Wayne McDaniel, both of Martinsburg; 13 grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one son, Grant McDaniel; and three brothers, Floyd, Clem and Parren McDaniel.

Services will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. Don Preston will officiate. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran cemetery in Arden, W.Va.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mary L. White

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Mary Louise "Peggy" White, 51, of Charles Town, died Monday, April 20, 1998, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson, W.Va.

Born Nov. 10, 1946, in Myerstown, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Laura Elizabeth White.

She graduated from Charles Town High School.

She had been employed by the Sav-A-Lots Store, Charles Town. Prior to that she was employed as a nursing aide at the Knott Nursing Home, Charles Town.

She was a member of Kabletown United Methodist Church.

She was a member of Women of the Moose, Chapter 1028, Charles Town.

She was the last of her immediate family.

She is survived by her close friend and companion, Betty L. Watson; and several cousins.

She was preceded in death by three aunts and four uncles.

A memorial graveside service will be Thursday at 2 p.m. in Edge Hill cemetery, Charles Town. The Rev. James Chambly will officiate.

There will be no visitation.

Memorial donations may be made to Kabletown United Methodist Church, in care of Betty White, 304 Peartree Court, Charles Town, W.Va. 25414.

Arrangements are by the Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town.

Carol A. Hunt

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Carol Ann Hunt, 59, of South Washington Street, died Monday, April 20, 1998, at her home.

She was born Jan. 23, 1939, in Boston.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, St. Albans, W.Va.

She is survived by one daughter, Cassie Elaine Hunt of Martinsburg, W.Va.; one son, Charles Matthew Hunt of Berkeley Springs; and her companion, Charles Cline Cecil of Hedgesville, W.Va.

Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs. The Rev. Rodney Truax will officiate. Burial will be private.

The family will receive friends today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will be open from noon to 9 p.m.

Tonya M. Shreve

AUGUSTA, W.Va. - Tonya M. Shreve, 25, of Augusta, died Tuesday, April 21, 1998, at War Memorial Hospital, Berkeley Springs, W.Va.

Born Jan. 8, 1973, in Charles Town, W.Va., she was the daughter of Bradley M. Poling of Terra Alta, W.Va., and Karen Costello Poling of Augusta.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Eric L. Shreve; one daughter, Ariel L. Shreve, at home; two brothers, Bradley Mark Poling of Inwood, W.Va., and Wesley Scott Poling of Harrisonburg, Va.; and grandparents, George and Noami Costello of Summit Point, W.Va.

Services will be held Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg, W.Va. The Rev. James Boyce will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.

Wava J. Coffman

RANSON, W.Va. - Wava Jean Coffman, 66, of Ranson, died Monday, April 20, 1998, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson.

Born Aug. 12, 1931, in Linn, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Aubrey E. and Ada Bessie Conner Teter.

She was a graduate of Troy High School, Troy, W.Va.

She was employed at Billie's Restaurant in Ranson for more than 30 years.

She was of the Methodist faith.

She was a member of Moose Chapter 1028, Charles Town.

She was an avid reader, and enjoyed crossword puzzles, crafts and gardening.

She is survived by her husband of 27 years, Carl E. "Gene" Coffman; one sister, Betty Lee Nicoletti of Cincinnati; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Rosalee Davis and Ada Rosemary Stewart.

Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home in Charles Town. Pastor Richard E. Neal will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens, Martinsburg.

Friends will be received at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to Jefferson County Chapter of American Heart Association, c/o Robert D. Ott, 420 Forrest Ave., Charles Town, W.Va. 25414.

Miguel Gonzalez-Anaya

RANSON, W.Va. - Miguel Gonzalez-Anaya, 21, of Ranson, died Sunday, April 19, 1998, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson.

Born June 20, 1976, in Mexico, he was the son of Santiago Gonzalez and Antonia Anaya, both of Guanajuato, Mexico.

He was employed by Millville Quarry Inc., Millville, W.Va., as a stone-crusher operator.

He was of the Catholic faith.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Robin Lynn Ashwood Gonzalez; two daughters, Marissa F. Gonzalez and Taylor I. Gonzalez, both at home; one stepdaughter, Kassandra Mose, at home; five sisters, Lupe Gonzalez, Florina Gonzalez, Luisa Gonzalez, Gloria Gonzalez and Leticia Gonzalez, all of Mexico; eight brothers, Jorge Gonzalez-Anaya of Chicago, Rafael Gonzalez-Anaya of West Virginia, Angel Gonzalez-Anaya, Joaquin Gonzalez-Anaya, Antonio Gonzalez-Anaya, all of Winchester, Va., Ignasio Gonzalez-Anaya, Alejandro Gonzalez-Anaya and Ernesto Gonzalez-Anaya, all of Mexico.

Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, 310 Fairfax Blvd., Charles Town. The Rev. Mary Garrett will officiate. Burial will be in El Pantion cemetery, Jerecuaro, Guanajuato, Mexico.

The family will receive friends Thursday and Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
