CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Alan M. Hunter Sr., 70, of Charles Town, died Friday, May 15, 1998, at his home.
Born Aug. 26, 1927, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late E. Glen and Viola Markward Hunter.
He was retired, and was last employed by Abex Corp. in Winchester, Va.
A U.S. Army veteran, he served during World War II.
He was a member of Charles Town Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Betty Keller Hunter; three daughters, Nancy R. Ambrose of Berkeley Springs, Sarah V. Brown of Hagerstown, and Glenda Willard Milburn of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; three sons, Alan M. Hunter Jr. of Buckeystown, Md., Wayne Keller Hunter of Arlington, Texas, and Paul N. Hunter of Great Cacapon, W.Va.; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Lorna Kinner; and two brothers, Noble Hunter and George Hunter.
A memorial service and burial will be held at a later date.
There will be no visitation.

Adelaide D. Butler
SUMMIT POINT, W.Va. - Adelaide "Boots" Doleman Butler, 97, of Summit Point, died Wednesday, May 13, 1998, at Shenandoah Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Charles Town, W.Va.
Born Dec. 2, 1900, in Millwood, Va., she was the daughter of the late Lena Lee Butler.
She was a member of Prosperity Baptist Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Nellie Lockley of Summit Point, W.Va.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Rose Curry, Lucy Butler and Sally Butler; and two brothers, Alfred Butler and Joe Butler.
Services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Prosperity Baptist Church in Summit Point. The Rev. John Green will officiate. Burial will be in Jamestown cemetery, Summit Point.
The family will receive friends at Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home, Ranson, W.Va., Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Jane L. Bennett
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Jane L. Jack Bennett, 70, of Martinsburg, died Thursday, May 14, 1998, at City Hospital, Martinsburg.
Born Dec. 27, 1927, in Martinsburg, she was the daughter of the late Milton W. Beitzen Jack and Helen O'Brien Jack.
Her husband, Carlton W. Bennett Sr., preceded her in death.
She was a 1945 graduate of Martinsburg High School.
She was a retired senior computer operator at IRS.
Early in life, she was a professional seamstress.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.
She is survived by four daughters, Cynthia Lee Bennett of Syracuse, N.Y., Catherine J. Carlson of Hedgesville, W.Va., M. Charla Bennett of Philadelphia, and Cary Ann Hicks of Martinsburg; one son, William Christopher Bennett of Martinsburg; one stepdaughter, Helen Matney of Troy, Mo.; one stepson, Carlton W. Bennett Jr. of Baltimore; one brother, William B. Jack of Winchester, Va.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Jerry Jack.
Services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg. The Rev. James D. Riley Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Falling Waters Presbyterian cemetery, Spring Mills.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Sallie K. Witt
SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Sallie Kite Witt, 87, a resident of the Canterbury Home in Shepherdstown, died Saturday, May 16, 1998, at City Hospital, Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born May 26, 1910, in Stanley, Va., she was the daughter of the late John VanBuren and Ollive Maude Henderson Kite.
She retired from Washington, Alexander and Cooke Insurance Co. in Charles Town, W.Va. Before that, she had worked for Roy Hollis Insurance Co., Martinsburg and Bester-Long Co., Hagerstown.
She was a member of Oakland United Methodist Church, Charles Town.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Paul Wesley Witt of Shepherdstown; four sisters, Lillian Blackford of Canterbury Home, Marie K. Oden of Bakerton, W.Va., Louise Corun of Frederick, Md. and Eva K. Jones of Kearneysville, W.Va.; and a brother, J.V. "Buck" Kite Jr. of Charles Town.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, 310 Fairfax Blvd., Charles Town. The Rev. Joanne Alexander will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens, Martinsburg.
Friends will be received Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Gertrude Wilson
NORTH OLMSTED, Ohio - Gertrude Wilson, 93, of North Olmsted, formerly of Martinsburg, W.Va., died Saturday, May 16, 1998, at Olmsted Manor Nursing Home.
Born Jan. 17, 1905, in Martinsburg, she was the daughter of the late Concer and Agnes Sheridan Alderton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lowe Carlton Wilson.
She was a graduate of St. Joseph's High School, Martinsburg.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
She is survived by a son, Jack Wilson of North Olmsted; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be said Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 233 S. Queen St., Martinsburg, with the Rev. John V. DiBacco Jr. celebrant. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. A vigil service will be held Monday at 7:30 p.m.
The family will meet Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home before going to the church.
Robert S. Curry
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Robert Addison Curry, 73, of Martinsburg, formerly of Craigsville, W.Va., died Saturday, May 16, 1998, at City Hospital.
Born Oct. 31, 1924, in Nicholas County, W.Va., he was the son of the late John W. Sr. and Pearl McCoy Curry.
He was a 1950 graduate of Glenville (W.Va.) State College.
He was a retired teacher with the Nicholas County schools.
He was a member of Retired Teachers Association and life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8614, Craigsville.
He is survived by his wife, Lucille Miller Curry; a daughter, Barbara Kay Arndt of Martinsburg; a son, Robert F. "Fred" Curry of Columbia, S.C.; a brother, John W. Curry Jr. of Tioga, W.Va.; three grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in West Virginia Memorial Gardens, Calvin, W.Va. Craigsville VFW Post 8614 will conduct military rites.
The family will receive friends today from 5 to 8 p.m. at Simons-Coleman Funeral Home, Richwood, W.Va.

RANSON, W.Va. - Elizabeth Wilson Crim, 91, formerly of Monte View Farm, Summit Point, W.Va., died Saturday, May 16, 1998, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson.
Born Dec. 2, 1906, in Zanesville, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Harry Clinton and Anne Wilson Frazier.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stuart W. Crim, in 1974.
She was a graduate of Columbia High School in Zanesville and attended Heidelburg University in Tiffin, Ohio.
She and her husband owned and operated Monte View Farm for more than 50 years.
She was a member of Church of the Holy Spirit, Episcopal Church.
She was a charter member of Summit Point Homemakers Club; a member, leader and counselor of Summit Point Busy Bees, 4-H Club and a correspondent for the Summit Point News. She was a correspondent for Spirit of Jefferson Farmers Advocate newspaper, Charles Town, for more than 40 years.
She is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth "Betsy" Stagner of Summit Point; a son, Stuart W. Crim Jr. of Mandyville, La.; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and two nieces.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Maddox.
Services will be Thursday, May 21, at 2 p.m. at Church of the Holy Spirit Episcopal Church, Summit Point. The Revs. Edward Greene and Jane Kempster will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill cemetery, Berryville, Va.
Friends will be received Thursday at the church one hour prior to services.

FALLING WATERS, W.Va. - Mary Frances Armstrong, 65, of Falling Waters, died Saturday, May 16, 1998, at her home.
Born June 22, 1932, in Martinsburg, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Louis and Irene Wilson Ramey.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude T. Armstrong Sr.
She had retired from Royce Hosiery.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She was a member of AARP.
She is survived by two sons, Claude Thomas Armstrong Jr. and Robert Louis Armstrong, both of Falling Waters; a brother, Clifford Ramey of Martinsburg; and three granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by two sons, David Lynn Armstrong and Clifford Wayne Armstrong.
Services will be Monday at 3 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. Bishop Michael Lee will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery.
