MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Mary Elizabeth Henretta, 88, of Martinsburg, died Monday, June 8, 1998, at Care Haven of Berkeley, Martinsburg.
Born Nov. 11, 1909, in Berkeley County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Stewart C. and Bessie Jane Bovey McDonald.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stewart Vernon Henretta.
She was a graduate of Martinsburg High School and Shepherd College.
A retired school teacher, she taught in Berkeley County for more than 40 years.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
She is survived by one son, Jack Stewart Henretta of Martinsburg; and one grandson.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Isabelle Hemp.
Graveside services will be Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at Rosedale cemetery. The Rev. G. Edward Grove will officiate.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Paul E. Divelbliss
TERRA ALTA, W.Va. - Paul Edward Divelbliss, 73, of Terra Alta, died Tuesday, June 9, 1998, at his home.
Born April 25, 1925, in Morgan County, W.Va., he was the son of the late George and Grace Whisner Divelbliss.
He was a retired farmer.
He is survived by three sisters, Irma Stephens of Martinsburg, W.Va., Roxanna Gloyd of Great Cacapon, W.Va., and Betty Likens of Grove City, Ohio; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by five sisters, Ellen Adams, Goldie Farris, Lottie Aleshire, Bertha Thomas and Nellie Divelbliss; four brothers, George Divelbliss, Melvin Divelbliss, Jake Divelbliss and Leonard Divelbliss.
Services will be Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. Eddie H. Edmonds will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Charles E. French
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Charles Edward "Tim" French, 39, of Martinsburg, died Monday, June 8, 1998, at City Hospital.
Born Jan. 13, 1959, in Martinsburg, he was the son of Robert L. and Wilma Shields French of Hedgesville, W.Va.
He was a 1977 graduate of Hedgesville High School.
He was formerly employed by City Cab and had previously worked at Handy & Harman, the C.H. Musselman Co. and for Woodfin Oil in Virginia.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Rose Talbott French; two stepsons, Andrew R. Talbott and Charles J. Koslosky III, both of Chester, Pa.; four sisters, Deborah D. Bell and Rebecca F. Day, both of Hedgesville, Michele F. Folden of Martinsburg and Bonnie S. Ripka of Falling Waters, W.Va.; three brothers, Robert L. French II of Wimberly, Texas, and Michael T. French and David T. French, both of Hedgesville; four nieces; six nephews; one great-niece; and aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. Jack Rudy and the Rev. Louis Whitford will officiate. Burial will be in Allensville cemetery, west of Hedgesville.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Lennis M. Davis, 88, of Martinsburg, died Monday, June 8, 1998, at City Hospital.
Born July 15, 1909, in Berkeley County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Alger and Ida Mae Fizer Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Davis, in 1974.
She was retired from Interwoven Mills.
She was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church.
She is survived by two sons, Marvin Johnson of Slidell, La., and Roger Johnson of Terra Alta, W.Va.; one stepdaughter, Hilda Seibert of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; one stepson, Daniel Davis of Martinsburg; one sister, Amogene Betts of Waynesboro, Pa.; one brother, Paul Johnson of Martinsburg; nine grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Johnson, in 1936; and by two sisters, Ranna Johnson and Myrtle Weirch.
Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. William E. Merki will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery.

Margaret M. Mobley
RANSON, W.Va. - Margaret Marie Mobley, 78, of Ranson, died Tuesday, June 9, 1998, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital.
Born March 4, 1920, in Kabletown, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Charles and Clara Huff Sowers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Neil Mobley.
She retired from Doubleday Co., Berryville, Va.
She was a member of Kabletown United Methodist Church.
She is survived by one sister, Estelle Stagner of Smithsburg; one brother, Leon Sowers of Ranson; two grandchildren, Stacy M. Mattei and Kristy D. Mobley; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Gilbert Mobley, in 1993; five sisters, Elizabeth Howell, Mae Summers, Catherine Ritenour, Louise Day and Clara Armstrong; six brothers, Robert Sowers, Charles Sowers, William Sowers, Garvin Sowers, Clarence Sowers and Thomas Sowers.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, 310 Fairfax Blvd., Charles Town, W.Va. The Rev. Melissa Simpson will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens, Martinsburg, W.Va.

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - James Edward "Jimmy" Fields, 79, of Charles Town, died Monday, June 8, 1998, at Shenandoah Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born Aug. 18, 1918, in Jefferson County, W.Va., he was the son of the late William F. and Janet Nicely Fields.
He retired from Charles Town Races and Shenandoah Downs, where he had worked as a messenger for the Mutuel Department. He also worked for Western Union, Charles Town.
He attended Asbury United Methodist Church.
He was a member of Independent Fire Co., Ranson, W.Va.
He is survived by two sisters, Elizabeth P. Showen of Charles Town and Mildred L. Harding of Brownsville, Md.; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Norval Fields and Kenneth Fields.
A graveside service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in Edge Hill cemetery, Charles Town. The Rev. James Chambly will officiate.
There will be no visitation.

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Robert Eugene Bedish, 75, of Berkeley Springs, died Tuesday, June 9, 1998, at Morgan County War Memorial Hospital.
Born Dec. 12, 1922, in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., he was the son of the late John and Anna Robins Bedish.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian Stidham Bedish, in 1992.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Winchester, Va.
He was a member of Junior Order of United American Mechanics Council 117; and Alderton-Dawson American Legion Post 60, Berkeley Springs.
He is survived by one son, Michael R. Bedish of Baltimore; two grandchildren; and a devoted friend, Sharon P. Yost of Berkeley Springs.
Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs. The Rev. Hennis Fox will officiate. Burial will be in Union Chapel United Methodist Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Arnold L. McDonald
RANSON, W.Va. - Arnold Lincoln "Byrd" McDonald, 59, of Ranson, died Tuesday, June 9, 1998, at his home.
Born April 26, 1939, in Jefferson County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Franklin and Ola Filds McDonald.
He worked as a groomer at Charles Town Races.
He was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by two daughters, Myoshia Bright of Charles Town, W.Va., and Casandra Hardy of Florida; one son, Anthony Cooper of New York; six sisters, Bernice Snails of Savage, Md., Viola McDonald of San Diego, Barbara McDonald, Agnes Pinkett and Cynthia Price, all of Maryland, and Carol Crawley of New York; five brothers, Charles McDonald of Charles Town, Louis McDonald of Washington, D.C., Terance McDonald of Fort Worth, Texas, Clifton McDonald of San Antonio, and Clarence McDonald; and grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home, Ranson. Elder Marva Harris and Elder John Price will officiate. Burial will be private.
James P. Propps
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - James Paxton Propps, 71, of Martinsburg, died Tuesday, June 9, 1998, at Heartland of Martinsburg.
Born Feb. 4, 1927, in Jefferson County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Paul Frederick and Margaret Conrad Propps.
He was a 1946 graduate of Charles Town High School.
He retired as an airplane mechanic.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he received the Victory Medal.
He was of the Episcopal faith.
He was a member of Loyal Order Moose Lodge 120, Martinsburg; and the Experimental Aircraft Association.
He is survived by three daughters, Catherine P. Jenkins of San Antonio, Paula P. Mays of Morgantown, W.Va., and Jennie P. Wilkins of Belington, W.Va.; one sister, Marcelle Hunt of Belleair, Fla.; two brothers, Paul Propps of Charles Town and Creighton Propps of West Virginia; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Catherine Propps; and one brother, Irvin Propps.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Edge Hill cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
