GERRARDSTOWN, W.Va. - Thelma Elizabeth Bishop, 70, of Gerrardstown, died Sunday, Aug. 2, 1998, at City Hospital.
Born Dec. 30, 1927, in Berkeley County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late John and Esther Abrecht Dorsey.
She was a member of Gerrardstown Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by six daughters, Gertrude Esther Bishop of Gerrardstown, Cindy Lee Butts, Patricia Ann Oester and Ramona Rene Oester, all of Bunker Hill, W.Va., Tracey Lynn Oester of Inwood, W.Va., and Robin Gay Staubs of Martinsburg, W.Va.; seven sons, Ray Allen Bishop of Fredericksburg, Va., Jerry Martin Bishop of Kearneysville, W.Va., Roy Lewis Bishop and David Wayne Bishop, both of Martinsburg, Donald Drew Bishop of Gerrardstown, Winfred Neal Bishop of Bunker Hill, and Glen Irvin Bishop of Inwood; one sister, Marian Brannon of Martinsburg; one brother, John Dorsey of Martinsburg; 29 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Harold Rooney Bishop.
Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Gerrardstown Presbyterian Church. James R. Jackson will officiate. Burial will be in Gerrardstown Presbyterian cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg, today from 7 to 9 p.m.

Reola H. Fowler
INWOOD, W.Va. - Reola Hoover Fowler, 87, of Inwood, died Sunday, Aug. 2, 1998, at Shawnee Springs Nursing Home in Winchester, Va.
Born July 29, 1911, in Jefferson County, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late Jacob S. and Venie E. Culbert Hoover.
She was a member of Rest United Methodist Church in Clearbrook, Va.
She is survived by one daughter, Barbara J. VanMetre of Bunker Hill, W.Va.; one sister, Naomi Hutzler of Inwood; one brother, Burton Hoover of Stephenson, Va.; one granddaughter; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Iota Noll; and two brothers, Herbert Hoover and Harold Hoover.
Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Rosedale Funeral Chapel in Martinsburg. The Rev. Timothy Teates will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.
Roland M. Nofsinger
KEYSER, W.Va. - Roland M. Nofsinger, 97, a resident of Heartland of Keyser, and formerly of 1724 York Road, Hagerstown, died Sunday, Aug. 2, 1998, at the nursing home.
Born July 31, 1901, in Salem, Va., he was the son of the late William B. and Elizabeth A. Hartberger Nofsinger.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Veronica R. Cosgrove Nofsinger, in 1985.
He retired as superintendent from Westvaco.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Keyser.
He was a member of Cumberland Eagles 245.
He is survived by five daughters, Elizabeth Anne Spriggs of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., Mary Jo Torbet of Sun City West, Ariz., Helen L. Holder and Jean F. Burton, both of Keyser, and M. Sue Smith of Williamsport; three sons, Robert W. Nofsinger and H. Dean Nofsinger, both of Keyser, and Michael R. Nofsinger of Orlando, Fla.; one sister, Virginia Biggs of San Diego; 18 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Alma Marie Nofsinger.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, Keyser. The Rev. Sue Cubertson Jarrett and the Rev. S.D. Sawyers will officiate. Burial will be in St. Peter's cemetery, Westernport, Md.
Friends will be received at Markwood Funeral Home, 111 S. Mineral St., Keyser, today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to the service Wednesday.

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Elsie Viola Hovermale, 89, of Berkeley Springs, who died Saturday, Aug. 1, 1998, was preceded in death by her husband, William V. Hovermale, in 1969.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Almon.
Hattie H. Cave
PLANT CITY, Fla. - Hattie Harriet Cave, 83, of Plant City, and formerly of Martinsburg, W.Va., died Saturday, Aug. 1, 1998, in Florida.
Born March 5, 1915, in Great Cacapon, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late James and Clair Betts Jerson.
Her husband, Alpha S. "Jack" Cave, preceded her in death.
She was a member of East Thonotosassa Baptist Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary Wright, of Plant City, and Nancy Russell of Martinsburg; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Jerson; and three brothers, Joe Jerson, James Jerson and Thomas Jerson.
Graveside services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Rosedale cemetery in Martinsburg. The Rev. Paul C. Stanley will officiate.

KEARNEYSVILLE, W.Va. - Joan Mae Grapes, 63, of Kearneysville, and formerly of Cresaptown, Md., died Friday, July 31, 1998, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
Born Sept. 10, 1934, in Cumberland, Md., she was the daughter of the late James Frederick and Evelyn Clem McIntosh.
Her husband, Floyd Thomas Grapes, preceded her in death.
She was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
She is survived by two daughters, Joan Gail Stallings and Julie Ann Whisner, both of Cumberland; one son, Steven Campbell of Frederick, Md.; one sister, Lois Ann Smith of Lanagan, Mo.; three brothers, Gerald W. McIntosh of Fort Ashby, W.Va., Frederick Lee McIntosh of Naples, Fla., and Michael Shipley of Zilhman, Md.; and six grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Park in Cumberland.

Bryan E. Hoffmaster
BAKERTON, W.Va. - Bryan Emanuel Hoffmaster, 79, of Bakerton, died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 1998, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born Dec. 15, 1918, in Bakerton, he was the son of the late Walter Bryan and Katherine Kidwiler Hoffmaster.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eileen Fraley Hoffmaster, in 1993.
He was a retired lab technician with Martin-Marietta Corp., Martinsburg.
A U.S. Army veteran, he served during World War II.
He was a member of Fellowship Bible Church, Harpers Ferry, W.Va.
He is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Deckers of Laurel, Md., and Kathryn Pfister of Virginia Beach, Va.; one son, Tommy Hoffmaster of Bakerton; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Schlack.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Eackles-Spencer Funeral Home, Harpers Ferry. The Rev. Van Marsceau will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery, Shepherdstown, W.Va.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Mary Catherine Cash, 72, of Martinsburg, died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 1998, at City Hospital.
Born March 9, 1926, in Dayton, Va., she was the daughter of the late Charles and Catherine Perkins.
She is survived by her husband, Ernest Linwood Cash.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Perkins.
A memorial service will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel of Kings Daughters Court, 116 E. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. Walter F. Bowers will officiate. Burial will be private.
