MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - R. Eugene "Gene" Mauck, 70, of Martinsburg, died Thursday, Aug. 6, 1998, at his home.
Born March 19, 1928, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Vernon E. and Eva Elizabeth Brown Mauck.
He was a partner with V.E. Mauck Plumbing Inc. prior to retiring. He was previously employed by Legion and Legion Construction Co., before starting the family business with his father in 1952.
He was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church.
He was a member of Martinsburg Lodge 120, Loyal Order of Moose; and Newton D. Baker Post 896 VFW.
He is survived by his wife, Lillian "Lillie" Gardner Mauck, whom he married Nov. 16, 1946; two daughters, Patricia J. Moreland and Carol B. Kenney, both of Martinsburg; a sister, Wanda L. Sankbeil of Martinsburg; three brothers, Charles E. Mauck, Gerald L. Mauck and Gary M. Mauck, all of Martinsburg; two granddaughters; two great-granddaughters; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Deloris A. Mauck; and a brother, Donald G. Mauck.
Services will be Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. Arlene R. Carr and the Rev. James D. Riley Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Robert L. Rutherford
CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Robert Lee Rutherford, 50, of Valley View Trailer Park, died Thursday, Aug. 6, 1998, at his son's home.
Born Nov. 10, 1947, in Charles Town, he was the son of the late George Wesley and Georgia Harder Rutherford.
He was a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 948 of Charles Town.
He is survived by his wife, Joann Elizabeth Rutherford; two daughters, Tina Lynn Rutherford of Charlottesville, Va., and Spring Angel Stillions of Charles Town; eight sons, Robert Wesley Rutherford and George B. Rutherford, both of Charlottesville, Abe Randolph Rutherford of Manassas, Va., Bobby Joe Rutherford, William Joseph Rutherford, Jamie Joe Rutherford and Shannon Lee Rutherford, all of Charles Town, and Heith Hunter Kirk of Leesburg, Va.; two sisters, Virginia Kesner of Charles Town and Judith Rose of Ranson, W.Va.; a brother, Roger Rutherford of Leesburg; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Wesley Rutherford.
Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Eackles-Spencer Funeral Home, Harpers Ferry, W.Va. The Rev. Ollie Baer will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Lutheran cemetery, Bolivar, W.Va.
The family will receive friends today and Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Thelma L. Dean
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Thelma Louise Dean, 91, of Martinsburg, died Thursday, Aug. 6, 1998, at Shenandoah Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Charles Town, W.Va.
Born Dec. 19, 1906, in Little Rock, Ark., she was the daughter of the late John Monroe and Mattie Cloar Dixon.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald C. Dean.
She was a Protestant.
She was a homemaker and worked as a stenographer for many years.
She lived on Army posts and stations throughout the continental United States, Alaska and Japan.
She is survived by a son, C.D. Dean of Martinsburg; a sister, Mrs. John E. Brazil of Benton, Ark.; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Edgar F. Dixon.
Services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Rosedale Funeral Chapel, 2060 Rosedale cemetery Road, Martinsburg. Minister Warren F. Kenney will officiate. Private burial will be in Quantico National cemetery, Quantico, Va.
Visitation will be Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Patricia Ann Clark, 53, of Martinsburg, died Thursday, Aug. 6, 1998, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.
Born Jan. 18, 1945, in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of Samuel and Lillian Cole Parsons of Martinsburg.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by two daughters, Sherry L. Cole of Martinsburg and Teresa Ann Cole-Drown of Huntington, W.Va.; a son, Curtis Lee Cole-Dawson of Kingwood, W.Va.; a sister, Linda P. Parsons-Siviero of Falling Waters, W.Va.; three brothers, Samuel Parsons Jr. and Terry Wayne Parsons, both of Martinsburg, and William Lee Parsons of Hedgesville, W.Va.; two grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. Edward Myers will officiate. Burial will be private.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Ronald D. "Buddy" Robinson Sr., 49, of Martinsburg, died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 1998, at his home.
Born Sept. 17, 1948, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Edward M. and Elsie May Smith Robinson.
He was a member of First Church of God.
He was a member of the Eagles Club.
He is survived by a daughter, Rhonda Gale Leonard of Martinsburg; two sons, Ronald Dale Robinson Jr. of Hedgesville, W.Va., and Thomas J. Robinson of Frederick, Md.; three sisters, Barbara Kleptach of Gerrardstown, W.Va., Rebecca Stinebaugh of Berkeley Springs, W.Va. and Connie Wise of Martinsburg; a brother, Edward Lane Robinson of Martinsburg; four grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas James Orr and David Clifford Orr.

Janina A. Taney
BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Janina A. Taney, of Berkeley Springs and formerly of Browns Mills, N.J., died Saturday, Aug. 8, 1998, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.
Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Vincent and JoHanna Dadura.
She retired as a cashier from Acme Supermarket in Browns Mills.
She was a member of Saint Vincent dePaul Catholic Church in Berkeley Springs.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph J. Taney; a daughter, Kathlene Ciak of Deerfield Beach, Fla.; a son, Lee J. Sarama of Marlton, N.J.; two sisters, Shirley Pahula of Slatington, Pa. and Stella Krawchuk of Philadelphia; two brothers, Edward Dadura of Bucks County, Pa. and Fred Dadura of Philadelphia; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, S. Terrance Sarama; and a brother, John Dadura.
Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Saint Vincent dePaul Catholic Church, Berkeley Springs. The Rev. Mathew Rowgh will be celebrant. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Hunter-Anderson Funeral Home, 106 S. Mercer St., Berkeley Springs, with the vigil celebrated at 7:30 p.m.

BUNKER HILL, W.Va. - Edgar Allen Thomas Sr., 70, of Bunker Hill, died Saturday, Aug. 8, 1998, at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, Va.
Born Oct. 29, 1927, in Alexandria, Va., he was the son of the late Edgar and Mildred Newsom Thomas.
He was a hearing aid specialist, having worked for Hearing Aid Services, Inc., in Winchester, Va.
He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving with the U.S. Army.
He was a member of Johnsontown Bible Church in Hedgesville, W.Va., where he was a trustee.
He was a member of International Hearing Society; West Virginia Hearing Society; president of Virginia Society of Hearing Institute Specialists; 32 years in Hearing and Business and Board of Examiners of Virginia.
He is survived by his wife, Christyne Thomas; a son, Mark T. Thomas of Alexandria, Va.; a stepdaughter, Barbara C. Schell of Winchester; a stepson, David A. Cain of Stephens City, Va.; a sister, Jewell T. Campbell of Front Royal, Va.; a brother, J. Thorton Thomas of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; two grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Chapel Committal Services will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Rosedale Funeral Chapel, 2060 Rosedale cemetery Road, Martinsburg, W.Va. The Rev. Jack Rudy will officiate. Private burial will be in Rosedale cemetery.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Garfield Newton McClanathan, 84, of Martinsburg, died Friday, Aug. 7, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.
Born May 24, 1914, in Mercersburg, Pa., he was the son of the late David Z. and Ella Mae Tosten McClanathan.
He is survived by his wife, Hazel Brunner McClanathan; two daughters, Pauline Grace Austin of Severn, Md. and Doris Jean Monn of Hagerstown; a son, Howard McClanathan of Pasadena, Md.; a sister, Mabel Louise Shipley of Pennsylvania; two brothers, Kenneth McClanathan of Hagerstown and Harold McClanathan of Kentucky; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Louis L. Emerick will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven cemetery.
