BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Willard Earl "Skip" Wertenberger Jr., 63, of Berkeley Springs, died Saturday, Aug. 29, 1998, at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, Va.
Born Jan. 10, 1935, in Brunswick, Ohio, he was the son of the late Willard Earl Sr. and Martha Ann Birkbeck Wertenberger.
He was a 1953 graduate of Euclid High School in Euclid, Ohio. He attended the University of Toledo in Ohio, where he earned his HVAC certification.
He retired in the late 1970s after 25 years as an air traffic controller at Oberlin Tower, Oberlin, Ohio.
In the early 1980s, he worked as a manager and trainer with Geisel Heating and Air Conditioning in Elyria, Ohio. He then worked as the township zoning inspector in Vermilion, Ohio.
He was a member of Union Chapel United Methodist Church, Berkeley Springs.
He also was a member of Grotto Club in Vermilion, and Deford Lodge 88 AF&AM in Berkeley Springs, and was active with the band boosters and sports programs at Vermilion High School.
He moved to Berkeley Springs in 1991.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Jean Sherrard Wertenberger; two daughters, Jennifer A. Shea of Rocky River, Ohio, and Jacqueline K. Patterson of Atlanta; one son, Willard Earl Wertenberger III of Safety Harbor, Fla.; one sister, Melva Balmat of Mentor, Ohio; two brothers, Orlow Wertenberger of Columbus, Ohio, and John Wertenberger of Willoughby Hills, Ohio; two grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Union Chapel United Methodist Church, U.S. 522 South, Berkeley Springs. The Rev. Mary Gebe Stevens will officiate. Burial will be private.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.

Lester E. Bagent Jr.
CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Lester Eugene "JR" Bagent Jr., 33, of Charles Town, died Monday, Aug. 31, 1998, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson, W.Va.
Born May 30, 1965, in Ranson, he was the son of Ruby Engle Bagent of Charles Town and the late Lester Eugene Bagent Sr.
He was a member of Calvary Assembly of God Church.
He was a member of Citizens Volunteer Fire Co. and Loyal Order of Moose 948.
He was a volunteer coach for Jefferson County Youth Football League and Charles Town/Ranson Little League Baseball.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by one sister, Tracey Bagent of Charles Town; and three brothers, Richard Bagent, Scott Bagent and Charles Bagent, all of Charles Town.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Timothy Bagent.
Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home, Ranson. Pastor Elizabeth Frye will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery, Bolivar, W.Va.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.
Nelson C. Schoppert
FALLING WATERS, W.Va. - Nelson C. Schoppert, 38, of Falling Waters, died Monday, Aug. 31, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Dec. 17, 1959, in Martinsburg, W.Va., he was the son of Charles and Doris Shackelford Schoppert of Martinsburg.
He was a 1978 graduate of Hedgesville High School, Hedgesville, W.Va.
He was employed by The Lumber Yard in Martinsburg.
He was a member of First Baptist Church.
He had coached Hedgesville Little League baseball, including the 11-year-old 1998 All Stars; Junior League and Senior League Baseball; Martinsburg and Berkeley County Recreation League basketball and Martinsburg Midget League Football.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Laureen Kershner Schoppert; one daughter, Amber Renee Schoppert, at home; two sons, Nelson Matthew Schoppert and Cory Wade Schoppert, both at home; three sisters, Doris Ann Keesecker of Falling Waters, Betty Jean Wageley of Hedgesville and Tammy Marie Schoppert of Martinsburg; and one brother, Jeffrey Todd Schoppert of Hedgesville.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. Curt Lowry will officiate. Burial will be in Harmony cemetery, Falling Waters.

Theodore J. Argyrakis
WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS -- Theodore John Argyrakis, 63, died Friday, Jan. 17, 1997, in a Fairlea medical center following a short illness.
Born Jan. 19, 1933, at White Sulphur Springs, he was the son of Ourania Cova Argyrakis of White Sulphur Springs and the late John Theodore Argyrakis.
Mr. Argyrakis was a member of the Episcopal Church, was a mason, owner of Dry Creek Antiques and former owner and operator of the Terrace Restaurant, both in White Sulphur Springs and was a U.S. Navy veteran.
Survivors include a son, John Theodore Argyrakis of Morgantown; a daughter, Karen Argyrakis of White Sulphur Springs; two grandchildren, Leah and Uriah.
Services will be 1 p.m. today at the St. Thomas Episcopal Church, White Sulphur Springs. Interment will follow in Hillcrest cemetery, White Sulphur Springs.

RICHMOND, Va. -- Bobby O. Bowyer, 74, formerly of West Virginia, died Saturday, Jan. 18, 1997, in a Richmond, Va. hospital.
Born Sept. 12, 1922, at West Virginia, he was the son of the late Albert Luther and Tina O'Dell Bowyer.
Mr. Bowyer was a retired WWII and Korean naval aviator, was a retired engineer for the Virginia Dept. of Transportation, was a member of Hatcher Memorial Baptist Church, Richmond, Va.
Survivors include his wife, Mary W. Bowyer; two daughters, Mary Linda Bowyer-Elliott of Dend, Ore. and Suzanne Bowyer-McWhorter of Elkins; a son, Robert Wayne Bowyer of Stanton, Va.; a brother, Arnold Bowyer of Beckley; a sister, Billie Bowyer of Beckley; four grandchildren.

Born May 3, 1918, at Page, she was the daughter of the late John and Della Mabe Young.
Mrs. Cook was a resident of Rainelle for the past 17 years and was a homemaker.

William E. Dodson, 80, of Rt. 1, Scarbro, died Friday, Jan,. 17, 1997, at his home following a long illness.
Born Jan. 4, 1917, at Ferrum, Va., he was the son of the late Zachariah Flemon and Mary Elizabeth Ratliff Dodson.
Mr. Dodson was a retired civil engineer.

Born Sept. 7, 1911, at Axton, Va., he was the son of the late Jessie Fountain, Sr. and Polly Ann Hairston Fountain.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Hunt Fountain

Mrs. Frazier was a lifelong resident of Wyoming County, a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond J. Frazier in 1981; a son, Donald M. Chance; a daughter, Linda Sue Wright; three brothers, Rufus, William and Ralph Irick; three sisters, Rodie Meadows, Laura Adkins and Martha Walker.
Survivors include four sons, Raymond Frazier and his wife, Debra, Gerald Frazier and his wife, Pamela, Gary Frazier and his wife, Sandra and Robert Frazier, all of Sabine; a brother, Andrew Irick of Glenfork; two sisters, Julia Gambell of MacArthur and Lydia Leslie of Pritchard; 13 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
