Lotsie A. Dye
WHITESVILLE -- Lotsie Ann Dye, 75, of the Garrison area, died Monday, Dec. 8, 1997, in a Charleston hospital.
Born Aug. 28, 1922, at Edwight, she was the daughter of the late James and Fanny Pettry Bearfield.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Dye; a daughter, Linda Sue Dye; two sons, Clarence Jr. and Richard Douglas; and a grandson, Frankie Jones.
Survivors include three daughters, Edith Jones of Whitesville, Lottie Mae Cottrell of Eunice, and Diana Duncan of Sylvester; three sons, James A. of Glen Daniel, Eugene R. of Garrison, and Carl E. of Charleston; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Private services will be held at the family's convenience, with the Rev. John Buchanan. Burial will follow in Pineview cemetery, Orgas.

Carmen R. Fowler, 83, of Beckley, died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 1997, in a Beckley hospital following a short illness.

John F. Hindson II
MOUNT HOPE -- John Franklin (Hank) Hindson II, 88, died Sunday, Dec. 7, 1997, in a Huntington hospital following a short illness.
Born Aug. 14, 1909, at Tamroy, he was the son of the late John Franklin Hindson and Elizabeth Sim Forbes Hindson.
Mr. Hindson was a graduate of Montgomery High School and attended West Virginia University and attended New River State (WV Tech). He is a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. He worked for New River Company in Scarbro, Whipple, and Oakwood with the engineers and as a bookeeper for Oswald, Tamroy and Kilsyth Company Stores.
He was owner and operator of the Oak Hill Mens Shop before moving to California where he worked as manager for Mens Sports Wear for May Company (same as Kaufmanns). He retired in February 1970 from the May Company. He attended the Maple Valley Missionary Baptist Church at Maple Fork. He also served as a veteran with the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Forbes; and two brothers, Robert and William Hindson.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Verna Roop Hindson; four children, John Franklin Hindson III and his wife, Diana, of Fayetteville, Mrs. William (Sally) Hylton of Prosperity, Mrs. James (Libby) Lewis of Huntington, and Mrs. Charlie (Mary Frances) Brown of Charlotte, N.C., and 14 grandchildren, Scott Hylton, John Hindson IV, Andy Brown, Christian Lewis, Justin and Griffin Elliott, Trevor Lewis, Jesse and Joshua Lewis, Shelley and Sarah Hylton, Lori Hindson, Heidi and Amelia Lewis; a sister, Susan VanPelt of Corona, Calif.; and three brothers, Charles and Thomas Hindson, both of Van Nuys, Calif., and George Hindson of Rocklyn, Calif.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at High Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Melvin Jamison officiating. Burial will follow in High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill.

Jimmie Stanley Holly, 64, of Blue Jay, died Sunday, Dec. 7, 1997, in a Beckley hospital following a long illness.
Born Dec. 31, 1933, at Pax, he was the son of the late Coy Wilbur Holley Sr. and Edith Margaret Lunsford Holley.
Mr. Holly was a disabled mechanic for Andy Earhart Honda in Beckley, was of the Methodist faith and was a U.S. Air Force veteran.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Tincher.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Browning Okes Holly; a daughter, Kim Bartula of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; two sons, James Holly, address unknown, and Brian Okes and his wife, Karen, of Grand Forks Air Force Base, N.D.; six sisters, Audrey Armstrong of East Kingston, Frankie Bolyard of Ravenswood, Beverly Colvin of Beckley, Judy Stover of North Carolina, Faye Jones of Palm Bay, Fla., and Nancy Hahn of Columbus, Ohio; a brother, Coy W. Holley Jr. of East Kingston; and seven grandchildren, Erin and Kaleigh Bartula, Adam, Brittney, Brianne, Tiffany and Cody Okes.
Graveside rites and committal will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Holley Family cemetery, Plum Orchard, with the Rev. Roger Browning. Burial will follow in the Holley Family cemetery, Plum Orchard.

RAINELLE -- Oneta Robinson, 87, formerly of Lewisburg and Kieffer, died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 1997, in a Rainelle care center following a long illness.
Born May 22, 1910, at Kieffer, she was the daughter of the late Samuel V. and Bessie Jane Crane Scruggs.
Mrs. Robinson was a homemaker and a member of the Beaver Creek Baptist Church at Kieffer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence T. Robinson on Oct. 13, 1991.
Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Fleshman and her husband, Richard, of Rainelle; two sons, Lawrence E. Robinson and his wife, Betty, of Aiken, S.C., and Carl S. Robinson and his wife, Sandra, of Aiken, S.C.; a sister, Catherine Neff of Aiken; a brother, Carl Scruggs of Nitro; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Born Oct. 21, 1922, at Eccles, she was the daughter of the late Blaine Douglas Dickerson and Dotsie E. Mosley Dickerson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow (Woody) Woods; and a sister and brother.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Graham of Flint; a son, Willliam Woods and his wife, Lorraine, of Melvindale, Mich.; five grandchildren, Kevin Cosby of Beckley, Brian, Brandon, Nicole and Ronald, all of Michigan; a great-grandson, Martarien of Michigan; a sister, Esta Hoover of Beckley; two brothers, Robert Dickerson of Beckley and George Dickerson and his wife, Joy, of Columbus, Ohio; a niece, Jewell Moore and her husband, Donald, of Charlotte, N.C.; a brother-in-law, Zebedee Spencer and his wife, Christine, of Beckley; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives including the Wagner and Lomax families of Eccles.
Services will be 1 p.m. today at the Blackwell AME Zion Church, 1902 Sonny Avenue, Flint, Mich., with the Rev. Joseph L. Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Flint Memorial Park, Flint.
