FAYETTEVILLE -- Lois Jean Williams, 65, died Wednesday, Dec. 2, 1998.
The body will be cremated.
Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home, Ansted.

Texie Baldwin
Texie Baldwin, 91, of Odd, died 9 a.m. Friday, Dec. 4, 1998, at the home of her daughter, Doris Meador of Odd, following a long illness.
Born Jan. 6, 1907, at Odd, she was the daughter of the late "Bill" Cole and Alimenta Wood Cole.
Mrs. Baldwin was a homemaker and a member of the Good Hope Baptist Church at Tommy's Creek. She had been a resident of Odd most of her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Basil Baldwin; and two infant children.
Survivors include three sons, Harold L. Baldwin and his wife, Madge, of Levenworth, Kan., Basil L. Baldwin Jr. and his wife, Wanda, of Helen, and Kermit L. Baldwin and his wife, Phyllis, of Crab Orchard; two daughters, Betty White and her husband, James, of Princewick, and Doris L. Meador of Odd; two sisters, Fern Jones of Fort Mill, S.C., and Elsie Spradling of Moneta, Va.; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be 1 p.m. Sunday at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel with the Rev. Larry Penix officiating. Burial will follow in Bowling cemetery, Spanishburg.
Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Robert Lee Bonds
EAST PEORIA, Ill. -- Robert Lee Bonds, 72, of 119 1/2 E. Washington St., formerly of Montcoal, died 8:37 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, 1998, in a Indianapolis, Ind., hospital.
Born Dec. 12, 1925, at Montcoal, he was the son of the late Albert Lee Bonds and Elizabeth Dickens Bonds.
Mr. Bonds worked as a coal miner and a clerk for J&L Standard Service Station in East Peoria, Ill.
He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran.
He was preceded in death by one son; two sisters, Martha Reed and Rettie Hazeliden; and brothers, Wayman, Pete, Lawrence and Glen Bonds.
Survivors include five daughters, Darla of West Virginia, Johanna Foster of Virginia, Doris of West Virginia, Lillie of West Virginia and Vickie of West Virginia; two sons, Robert Lee Bonds Jr. and David Bonds, both of West Virginia; a sister, Louella Bonds of 145 Amanda Court, Naoma; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Remmert Funeral Home, East Peoria, Ill., with the Rev. Eddie Foster officiating. Burial will follow in Fondulac cemetery, East Peoria. Singing will be provided by the Foster Boys.
Friends may call one hour before the services Monday at the funeral home.

Zada Lucas Brooks
Zada Lucas Brooks, 88, died 7:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 4, 1998, in an Oak Hill hospital following a long illness.
Born Jan. 14, 1916, at Marshes, she was the daughter of the late Harrison Lucas and Clara Manning Lucas.
Mrs. Brooks was a homemaker and a member of Breckenridge Missionary Baptist Church at Bolt. She had been a Beckley resident since 1968, having lived in the Bolt area most of her life.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wint Brooks; a son, James Morris Brooks; a sister, Inez Griffith; and a great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Shirey.
Survivors include a son, Vandell W. Brooks of Franklin; three daughters, Irene Renault of Vero Beach, Fla., Maxine Brown and her husband, Worley, of Summersville, and Nancy Brooks Brown of Beckley; a daughter-in-law, Rosetta Brooks of Bolt; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel with the Revs. Wayne Terry and Maurice Carpenter officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley.
Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

GRAFTON, Ohio -- Kermit Clay, 72, formerly of Edwight, died Tuesday, Dec. 1, 1998.
Services were Thursday at the Blackburn Funeral Home, 1021 Main St., Grafton, Ohio.

Delores Gale
CHARLESTON -- Delores Gale, 84, formerly of Eccles, died Friday, Dec. 4, 1998, in a Charleston hospital following a long illness.

Mildred E. Holmes
Mrs. Mildred E. "Mickey" Holmes, 88, of Beckley, died of natural causes Wednesday, Dec. 2, 1998, in a Beckley hospital.
Born Oct. 5, 1910, at Welch, she was the daughter of the late Lackey and Etta Huffman Morgan.
Mrs. Holmes was a department head and buyer of women's wear for the former E.M. Payne Company in Beckley with 35 years of service. She was a member of the Beckley Presbyterian Church, and the Beckley Womans Club.
She was a member of three bridge clubs and traveled extensively after her retirement.
Mrs. Holmes had been a resident of Beckley most of her entire life, moving to Beckley in 1920.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert (Red) Holmes in 1962.
Survivors include four nieces, JoAnn Tennant of Charlotte, N.C., Mrs. R.S. (Betty) Friest of Anchorage, Alaska, Mrs. Sidney (Nancy) Crockett of Wytheville, Va., Mrs. Edward (Louise) Nagourney of Virginia Beach, Va.; four nephews, James L. Bruster of Spring Hill, Kan., Robert L. Lively of Cary, N.C., the Rev. William L. Lively of Wytheville, Va., and David A. Bruster of Midlothian, Va.; two godchildren, Beth K. Ashley of Kirkland, Wash., and Patrick McDonnell of Reno, Nev.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Beckley Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Robin Debnam officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley.
Friends may call 10:15 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church.
Donations of sympathy may be made to the Memorial Fund, Beckley Presbyterian Church, 203 South Kanawha St., Beckley.

HINTON -- Hilda June Hill Messmer, 80, of 100 Elm St., died 6:15 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 3, 1998.
Vigil prayer service will be today at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors, Hinton. The body will be cremated.

Chilton W. Price
Chilton Wintford Price, 76, of 135 Price Lane, Daniels, died Thursday, Dec. 3, 1998, in a Beckley hospital following a long illness.
Born Oct. 19, 1922, in Fort Thomas, Ky., he was the son of the late Ch ilton Wintfield Price and Motie Deck Price.
Mr. Price was retired from National Mine Service Company in October of 1986. He had been a Daniels resident for most of his life, was of the Baptist faith, a member of VFW Post No. 4469 and was a World War II veteran.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond Griffith Price and Donald Deck Price; and a sister, Ellen Jeannine Wolfe.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Josephine Wills Price; three sons, Andrew Wesley Price of Lewisburg, Donald Raymond Price of Hickory, N.C., and Robert Lee Price and his wife, Vickie Lyn, of Hurricane; a daughter, Virginia Susan Clarkson and her husband, Gene, of Daniels; a brother, Michael C. Price of Morristown, Tenn.; a sister, Joann Grear of Daniels; eight grandchildren, Dawn Annette Fraley, Tara Faith Price, Susan Jean and Glen Lee Clarkson, William Anthony Price, Robert Lee Price, Michael Avon Price, and Jason Matthew Price; and one great-grandson, Andrew Thomas Fraley.
Graveside rites will be 2 p.m. today at Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley, with the Rev. Greg Mullis officiating.
Those attending the graveside services may meet at the funeral home by 1:30 p.m.
Pallbearers will be John Pack, Richard Williams, Gene Clarkson, Cecil Wills, Lloyd Wills and Earl Dean Wills.
Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Sophia-Midway VFW Post No. 4326.

Lunda Calvin Sarrett
Lunda Calvin Sarrett, 86, of 117 Northwestern Ave., Beckley, died 9:51 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1, 1998, at his home following a long illness.
Born June 4, 1912, at Zada, Raleigh County, he was the son of the late John Calvin Sarrett and Rosa Mae Worley Sarrett.
Mr. Sarrett was a 32-year employee of Beckley Newspapers, retiring at the age of 55, and a 82-year resident of Raleigh County.
He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School, lettering in both football and basketball, and was inducted into the Basketball and Football Hall of Fame. He attended Concord and Beckley College, where he played center on their first basketball team known as The Blue Hawks.
He was preceded in death by a son, Lunda Calvin "LC" Sarrett Jr., in 1968; a sister, Glida Mae Sarrett Leslie; and a niece, Lois Marie Leslie Herring.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Norma Jean Songer Sarrett; a son, Bane Edward Sarrett and his wife, Judy, of Beckley; a sister, Dessie Jane Sarrett of Beckley; four grandsons, Shane Edward Sarrett, Chad Street Sarrett, Shaun Wesley Sarrett and Randall Kevin Sarrett and his wife, Brenda, all of Beckley; and two great-grandchildren, Kylie Paige Sarrett and Kaleb Sarrett, both of Beckley.
Mausoleum committal services were 11 a.m. Friday at Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum B, Beckley, with the Rev. Robin Debnam Jr. officiating.
Friends called 10:30 a.m. until time of the services at the mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Beckley Presbyterian Church, 203 South Kanawha St., Beckley.
