Cordelia B. Marshall
Cordelia Belle Marshall, 68, of 123 Grant Street, Beckley, died Sunday, Jan. 31, 1999, in a Beckley hospital following a short illness.
Born Nov. 20, 1930, in Cincinnati, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Archie Stevenson and Lucille Stevenson.
Mrs. Marshall was a retired employee from Pinecrest Hospital.
She was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church, where she was also a member of No. 1 Choir, served on the Pastor's Aid Committee and served in various local clubs and auxiliaries.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Neal Marshall, on Oct. 1, 1993; and a son, Jack Ricardo Marshall.
Survivors include a son, Douglas Neal Marshall II of Beckley; two daughters, Cordelia Elizabeth Mason and her husband, Ronald of Beckley, and Shelia Verl Hunt and her husband, George, of Dunbar; four grandchildren, Ira, April and Ronald Mason, all of Beckley, and Stephen Hunt of Dunbar; two great-grandchildren, Marques and Nadajah, both of Beckley; a brother, Henry Thomas and his wife, Catherine, of Cincinnati, Ohio; a brother-in-law, Lewis R. Marshall and his wife, Josephine, of South Boston, Va.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the New Hope Baptist Church, Beckley, with the Revs. O.T. Moore, Jewel Ross and David Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens, Beckley.
Friends may call one hour before the services Thursday at the church.

John T. McDaniel
John T. McDaniel, 79, of 129 S. Heber St., Beckley, was dead on arrival Tuesday, Feb. 2, 1999, at a Beckley hospital following a short illness.

Barry K. Morgan
OCEANA -- Barry Kent Morgan, 40, died Sunday, Jan. 31, 1999, in a Man hospital following a sudden illness.
Born Oct. 28, 1958, at Welch, he was the son of Herbert Hoover Morgan and Hilda Mae Davis Morgan of Elk Lick.
Mr. Morgan was a lifelong resident of Wyoming County and a former coal miner with U.S. Steele at Pinnacle. He was co-owner of Morgan Construction with his twin brother, Larry, and was a member of Clear Fork Valley Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by a grandfather, Maloney Morgan; a grandmother, Arminta Morgan; and a father-in-law, William A. McClellan.
Other survivors include his wife, Evelyn; a daughter, Tara, of Oceana; five brothers, twin brother Larry and wife, Tami Morgan of Oceana, Justin Morgan and wife, Lisa of Ortanville, Mich., Jeff Morgan and wife, Pam, of Clear Fork, Michael Morgan of Oceana and Marvin Morgan and wife, Jane, of Leesburg, Fla.; four sisters, Arlene Trent and husband, Dwight of Clear Fork, Judy Wicker and husband, Wess of Clear Fork, Vikki Sims and husband, Tab, of Oceana and Dianna Short and husband, Eddie, of Elgin, S.C.; a grandmother, Ruby Hatfield Hall of Tomahawk, Ky.; two sisters-in-law, Sheila Perry and husband, Brad of Oceana and Karen Bullins and husband, Greg, of Danberry, N.C. and a mother-in-law, Margie McClellan of Oceana.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Clear Fork Valley Baptist Church with the Rev. Erwin Gregory officiating. Burial will follow in Morgan Family cemetery, Elk Lick.
Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at Evans Memorial Chapel, Oceana. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.

Lillian M. Naylor
OAK HILL -- Lillian M. Naylor, 70, died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 1999, in an Oak Hill medical center following a short illness.

Rev. Clarence E. Ratcliff
WARSAW, Ind. -- The Rev. Clarence Earl Ratcliff, 83, formerly of Hinton, died Monday, Feb. 1, 1999, in a Warsaw care home following a long illness.
Born July 22, 1915, in Smith Center, Kan., he was the son of the late Charles and Henrietta Alice Johnson Ratcliff.
The Rev. Ratcliff had been a resident of Warsaw since 1995. He was former pastor of the Mt. Olivet Church, where he was also the director of the camp, for 10 years. He was ordained by the Christian Nation Church.
He was a former school psychologist for Jackson County Board of Education in Michigan, retiring in 1975. He was a graduate of Michigan State University with a master's degree in psychology.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Ratcliff; and an infant sister, Evelyn.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Anna Lois Harris Ratcliff of Warsaw, Ind.; a daughter, Ruth Brandt and her husband, Jim, of Bradenton, Fla.; two sons, Paul Ratcliff of Toccoa, Ga., and Donald Ratcliff and his wife, Brenda, of Toccoa, Ga.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Rev. Bob (Maxine) Boggs of Warsaw, Ind., Mrs. Paul (Blanche) Burnette of Turmon, Ohio, and Mrs. Don (Agnes) Ryan of Marion, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Elmo Alderman and the Rev. Bob Boggs officiating. Burial will follow in Greenbrier Burial Park, Hinton.
Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral parlor.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Patricia Jo Shafer
LEIVASY -- Patricia Jo Shafer, 35, died Sunday, Jan. 31, 1999.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Singleton cemetery at Heaters. There will be no visitation.

Forrest Henry Shelton
ALDERSON -- Forrest Henry Shelton, 82, died Monday, Feb. 1, 1999, at his home following a long illness.
Born May 22, 1916, near Alderson, he was the son of the late William G. and Margaret Mitchell Shelton.
Mr. Shelton was a retired carpenter foreman, having retired in 1975 from the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Alderson, after 20 years of service. He has been a member of the Old Greenbrier Baptist Church, Alderson, since 1970 where he was a member of the Men's Bible Class.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Anna "Joanne" Smith and two brothers, Fred Shelton and Ralph Shelton.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret H. Shelton of Alderson; four daughters, Carol Godby of Beckley, Barbara Shelton of Alderson, Anita Russell of Sacramento, Calif. and Linda Housel of Leesburg, Va.; two brothers, Howard Shelton and Melvin Shelton, both of Alderson; two sisters, Thelma Epperly of Alderson and Ruth Spruill of Springfield, Va.; four granddaughters; three great-granddaughters and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Old Greenbrier Baptist Church, Alderson, with the Revs. Alvie Edwards and Leroy Crane officiating. Burial will follow at End of the Trail cemetery, Clintonville.
Friends may call 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Lobban Funeral Home, Alderson and one hour prior to services at the church.
Pallbearers will be Rick Simms, Rick Parker, Bob Holliday, Walter "Bones" Baker, Danny Clay and Garry McCallister.
Nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers.

James `Slick' Timbers
James "Slick" Timbers, 80, of Raleigh, died Saturday, Jan. 30, 1999, at a Beckley hospital following a short illness.
Born Feb. 27, 1918, at Raleigh, he was the son of the late Warren Timbers and Arie Thompson Timbers.
Mr. Timbers was a cook, a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Beckley, and a U.S. veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Reginald Timbers and Carl E. Timbers.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Gore and her husband, Leroy, of Beckley; a granddaughter, Tanua Gillus of Beckley; three great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Ritchie and Johnson Funeral Parlor Chapel, Beckley, with the Revs. Walter Leach and Nelson Staples Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Beckley.
Friends may call 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral parlor.

Evelyn M. Walker
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Evelyn Mae Dorsett Walker, 86, formerly of Minden, died Monday, Feb. 1, 1999, in St. Petersburg, following a short illness.
Born April 1, 1912, at Lookout, she was the daughter of the late JOseph L. and Erna Hess Dorsett.
Mrs. Walker was a retired postmaster from Leivasy Post Office and worked at the Minden Post Office before moving to Leivasy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert W. Walker in December 1982.
Survivors include a daughter, Betty Jean Kemper and her husband, Donald, of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a son, Herbert Allen Walker and his wife, Barbara, of Kure Beach, N.C.; five granddaughters; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Virginia A. Nottingham of Carlisle, Pa., and Frances L. Dorsett of St. Petersburg, Fla.; four brothers, Herbert T. Dorsett of Lexington, Ky., Charles M. Dorsett of Spring Hill, Fla., and Virgil H. Dorsett and Joseph L. Dorsett Jr., both of St. Petersburg, Fla.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Tyree Funeral Home Chapel, Oak Hill, with the Revs. Ray McClung and Dewey Pittman officiating. Burial will follow in High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill.
Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Hilda Powers Walters, 79, of Shell Point Village, formerly of Beckley, died Sunday, Jan. 31, 1999, following a long illness.

Kathryn "Kay" White
RICHWOOD -- Kathryn Virginia "Kay" White, 70, died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 1999.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at White Funeral Home, Summersville. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Jack E. Adams
PINEVILLE -- Jack E. Adams, 77, died Sunday, Feb. 7, 1999, at his home following a long illness.
Born June 22, 1921, at Holden, he was the son of the late Floyd F. and Manilla Gordon Adams.
Mr. Adams was a Wyoming County businessman. He was a Mason with membership in the Aracoma Lodge No. 99 at Logan, and a member of the First United Methodist Church.
He was a World War II U.S. Air Force veteran, where he was a B-29 pilot and flight instructor.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Phillip Adams; a sister, Elaine Justice; and a great-granddaughter, Rebekah Meadows.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Evelyn Lee Adams; two sons, Ed Adams and his wife, Jo, of Pineville, and Bob Adams and his wife, Teresa, of Pineville; two daughters, Sandra Shaw and her husband, David, of Daniels, and Sharon Adams and her husband, Dr. Henry "Skip" L. Gates, of Cambridge, Mass.; a brother, Michael Adams of Milton; a sister, Geraldine Vinson of Livonia, Mich.; and eight grandchildren, Sherry Arthur and her husband, Jack, of Beckley, Rachel Meadows and her husband, Chris, of Princeton, Katie and Adam Shaw of Daniels, Seth and Sam Adams of Pineville, and Maggie and Liza Gates of Cambridge, Mass.
Services will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at Calfee Funeral Service Chapel, Pineville, with the Rev. Dorcas Conrad officiating. Entombment will follow in Palm Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Matheny.
Friends may call after 2 p.m. Wednesday until time of the services at the funeral home.
