Timothy Z. Blevins
MARIE -- Timothy Zane Blevins, 32, died at 6:15 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 7, 1999, at his home following a long illness.
Born July 13, 1966, at Hinton, he was the son of Alice Faye Wiseman Lilly of Marie.
Mr. Blevins was a graduate of Hinton High School and was a member of the Oak Grove Methodist Church at Ballengee.
Other survivors include his step-father, Cline G. Lilly of Marie; maternal grandfather, Ashby Wiseman of Hix; an uncle, Charles Wiseman of Reidsville, N.C.; and three aunts, Norma Gunter, Debbie Wiseman and Sherry Whittaker, all of Hinton.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with the Rev. Sam Groves officiating. Burial will follow in Wiseman Family cemetery, near Hinton.
Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Dennis Lilly, Pee Wee and Tommy Grimmett, Charles "Bud" Wiseman and Danny and Billy Willey.

Grace Doss
HILLSBORO -- Grace Doss, 84, died Monday, Feb. 8, 1999.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, Hillsboro. Friends may call 7 to 9 p.m. today at the VanReenen Funeral Home, Marlinton.

SUMMERSVILLE -- Mary A. England, 78, died Monday, Feb. 8, 1999.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Zoar cemetery, Kesslers Cross Lanes. There will be no visitation.

Arnold Goode
PINEVILLE -- Arnold Goode, 89, died Sunday, Feb. 7, 1999, in a Princeton hospital following a long illness.
Born Sept. 12, 1909, at Pineville, he was the son of the late G. Pendleton and Ada Brooks Goode.
Mr. Goode was a retired coal miner from Maben Energy, a farmer and a member of the Saulsville Friendship Old Regular Baptist Church. He was a lifelong resident of Wyoming County.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virgie Virginia Tilley Goode; a son, Bernard Goode; two daughters, Marie Byrd and Geneva McCoy; three sisters, Grace Lemon, Ora Bailey and Maggie Goode and three brothers, Howard, Virgil and Bert Goode.
Survivors include two sons, Lindell Goode and Verna Goode, both of Pineville; a daughter, Beatrice Cook of Pineville; a sister, Lettie Lambert of Pineville; 21 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Calfee Funeral Service Chapel with the Revs. Bryce Phillips and Russell McCoy officiating. Burial will follow in Sturgill-Goode cemetery at Pineville.
Friends may call 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.

William H. Houchins
AKRON, Ohio -- William H. Houchins, 83, formerly of Beckley, and Hinton, died Sunday, Jan. 31, 1999, at an Akron hospital folllowing a long illness.
Born June 7, 1915, at Hinton, he was the son of the late Luther C. Houchins and Francis McClaugherty Houchins.
Mr. Houchins was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, AARP, and the Lions Club of Akron.
He was retired from Monsanto Company, Charleston, before being transferred to Akron.
Mr. Houchins was a graduate of Shady Spring High School and Staunton Business College, Staunton, Va.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sara Miller Houchins.
Survivors include a sister, Dorcas M. Houchins of Beckley; two nieces; a nephew; special friends, Arlene Fankhauser, Dorothy Nagy, and Jeanne Schiesswohl; and many other friends.
Services were 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 4, in the Chapel of St. Paul's Episcopal Church (corner of West Market Street and Kenilworth Drive), with the Rev. James R. Beebe officiating. Burial followed in Greenbrier cemetery, Hinton.
Friends called 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Billow Fairlawn Chapel, 85 N. Miller Road.
Memorial services were Friday, Feb. 5, at the Greenbrier cemetery, Hinton, with the associate pastor of the United Methodist Temple, Ellen File, officiating.

Betty J. Lane
NIMITZ -- Betty June Lane, 67, died at 7:45 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 7, 1999, in a Hinton hospital following a long illness.
Born April 19, 1931, in Raleigh County, she was the daughter of the late Burley A. and Wavie A. Cox Farley.
Mrs. Lane was a member of the Nimitz Baptist Church at Nimitz and was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Thomas E. Jolliffe.
Survivors include her husband, Robert C. Lane; three sons, Stephen L. Lane and Calvin R. and wife, Joann Lane of Nimitz and Ronald C. Lane of Houston, Texas; two daughters, Roberta Sue Lane of Pence Springs and Debra Kay Lane of Hedgesville; a brother, Ivan Farley of Daniels; three sisters, Frances Price of Beckley, Doris McGhee of Glen Morgan and Shirley Heath of Daniels; and nine grandchildren.
Services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Revs. Andrew Davis Elmo Alderman Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Crews cemetery at Nimitz.
Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Thomas Jolliffe, Robert Boone, Cecil Wickline, Charles Allen, Michael Hernandez and Douglas Heath.

Herman Leeber
Herman Leeber, 73, of Beckley, died Monday, Feb. 8, 1999, in a Beckley hospital following a long illness.

Violet S. Maxey
ROANOKE, Va. -- Violet Shumate Maxey, 72, died Saturday, Feb. 6, 1999.
Mrs. Maxey was a native of West Virginia. She was a member of Connelly Memorial Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Leigh Maxey; and a son, Larry O. Maxey.
Survivors include her husband, Otis C. Maxey; a daughter and son-in-law, Vicki Trump and her husband, Greg, of Roanoke; three sisters, Nellie Davis of Roanoke, Frances Whitt of Ocala, Fla., and Martha Hollowell of Roanoke; a brother and sister-in-law, Alfred Shumate and his wife, Lou, of Canal Winchester, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Cecelia Shumate of Great Fall, Mont., and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Oakey's North Chapel, with the Rev. William G. Foster Jr. officiating. Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley.
Friends may call 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Oakey's North Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations of sympathy may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Alva W. Meadows
RAINELLE -- Alva William Meadows, 86, died Sunday, Feb. 7, 1999, in a Fairlea hospital following a sudden illness.
Born March 29, 1912, at Alderson, he was the son of the late Fred and Bertha Bennett Meadows.
Mr. Meadows came to Rainelle in the 1930s and was employed by the Meadow River Lumber Co. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1943 and was a World War II veteran.
He was a barber in Rainelle for more than 40 years and was a member of the Big Sewell Baptist Church.
In his spare time he was an avid hunter and fisherman, and also enjoyed gardening.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Alva William (Billy) Jr.; his wife, Elizabeth "Pet" McClung; three sisters, Leona Bragg, Elsie Richmond, and Opal Bragg; and four brothers, Charles, Orville, Ottie, and Andrew Meadows.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Richardson Meadows of Rainelle; two sons, David H. Meadows and his wife, Sue, of Rainelle, and Jerry F. Meadows and his wife, Judy, of Rainelle; a daughter, Patsy Ellison of Hinton; three sisters, Geneva Richmond of Mount Hope, Dorothy Carr of Rainelle, and Ruby Wills of Hinton; a brother, Junior Meadows of White Oak; a granddaughter, Shelly Wright of Rainelle; three grandsons, Jerry F. (Chip) Meadows and his wife, Stephanie, of Asbury, David Scott Meadows of Raleigh, N.C., and Chad Meadows of Rainelle; a great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn Wright; and one great-grandson, Kyle Meadows.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Smathers Funeral Home Chapel, Rainelle, with the Rev. Kermit Hunter officiating. Burial will follow in the Rainelle cemetery.

Floyd T. Roach Jr.
Floyd Thomas Roach Jr., 51, of Shady Spring, formerly of Green Bay, Va., died Sunday, Feb. 7, 1999, in a Beckley hospital following a short illness.
Born Oct. 23, 1947, at Farmville, Va., he was the son of the late Floyd Thomas Sr. and Delia Hodges Roach.
Mr. Roach was retired from Alcohol Beverage Control after 25 years of employment and was a member of Pisgah Baptist Church, Rice, Va. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Drema Worley Roach of Shady Spring; two sons, Brian Thomas Roach Sr. of Amelia, Va., and William A. Roach of Farmville, Va.; two daughters, Michelle Leigh Moon of Charlotte Chs., Va. and Melissa Lynn Bailey of Meherrin, Va.; two stepsons, Dwayne A. Chick of Cumberland, Va., and Sgt. Ryan D. Chick of Kancoke Bay, Hawaii; a brother, Lewis Edward Roach of Green Bay, Va.; a sister, Anne Roach Stearnes of Farmville and three grandchildren, Ashley Faye Bailey of Rice, Va., Jerry Lee King Jr. of Charlotte Chs., Va., and Brian Thomas Roach Jr. of Amelia.
Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Blue Ridge Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.
Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
