Louisa M. Farley

Louisa "Maude" Farley, 84, of Cool Ridge, died at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000, in a Beckley hospital following a long illness.
Born March 9, 1915, in Ellison Ridge, she was the daughter of the late James Farley and Ada Bolen Farley.
Mrs. Farley was a homemaker, a member of Cool Ridge Freewill Baptist Church and a lifelong resident of the Cool Ridge area.
She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Jason Farley and Ricky Bragg; two brothers, Ezra and Robert Thomas Farley, and four infant brothers; and a sister, Vennie Hatcher.
Her husband of 66 years, Ora Farley, died Wednesday, March 1, 2000.
Survivors include five sons, Lemuel Farley and his wife, Jean, of Appling, Ga., Leslie Farley and his wife, Lola, of China Grove, N.C., Alvin McRay Farley and his wife, Betty, of Cool Ridge, Chester Farley and his wife, Brenda, of Fairdale and Kenneth Farley and his wife, Gale, of Saulsville; five daughters, Melva Cales and her husband, Eddie, of Dimwittie, Va., Nadine Bragg and her husband, Pat, of Cool Ridge, Pauline Lilly of Cool Ridge, Thelma Simon and her husband, Ray, of China Grove, N.C., and Linda Nixon and her husband, Eli, of Cool Ridge; two brothers, Clifford Farley of Cool Ridge and Ray Farley of Batavia, Ohio; four sisters, Ora Brammer of Advance, N.C., Edna Farley of Cool Ridge, Ivory Farley of Oak Hill and Della Lively of Eccles; 30 grandchildren; and 40 great-grandchildren.
Joint services with her husband, Ora Farley, will be 1 p.m. Friday at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel, Beckley, with the Rev. George Speck and Pastor Roger Pauley officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.
Friends may call 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Ora C. Farley

Ora C. Farley, 89, of Cool Ridge, died at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, March 1, 2000, in a Beckley hospital following an apparent heart attack.
Born Aug. 10, 1910, in Ellison Ridge, he was the son of the late Josiah Farley and Evelyn Lilly Farley.
Mr. Farley was a retired farmer and timberman. He was a member of Cool Ridge Freewill Baptist Church and a lifelong resident of the Cool Ridge area.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Louisa Farley, on Feb. 29, 2000; two sisters, Lemma Lilly and Glennis Smith, and an infant sister, Lennie Farley; a brother, Charles Farley; and two grandchildren, Jason Farley and Ricky Bragg.

Joint services with his wife, Louisa Farley, will be 1 p.m. Friday at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel, Beckley, with the Rev. George Speck and Pastor Roger Pauley officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.
Friends may call 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

L. Miller Gwinn

MOUNT HOPE - L. Miller Gwinn, 86, died Wednesday, March 1, 2000, at an Oak Hill health care center following a short illness.
Born March 11, 1913, in Lockbridge, he was the son of the late Lloyd and Martha Ellen Stickler Gwinn.
Mr. Gwinn was a retired teacher from Mount Hope High School and a member of Mount Hope United Methodist Church. He was an avid protector of West Virginia wildflowers.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Helen Duke Gwinn; three brothers, Ralph, Burke and Kermit Gwinn; and two sisters, Alma Collins and Margaret Rice.
Survivors include three daughters, Mary Miller Meighen and her husband, the Rev. D.D. Meighen, of Clarksburg, Rebecca Humphries of Oak Hill and Ann Steplowski of Sand Branch; a sister, Janie Carroll of Meadow Bridge; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Tyree Funeral Home Chapel, Mount Hope, with the Rev. D.D. Meighen officiating. Burial will follow in Gwinn cemetery, Lockbridge.
Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Donations of sympathy may be made to the Mount Hope Library, 500 Main St., Mount Hope, WV 25880, or to the charity of your choice.

MULLENS ­ Naomi Rebecca Hill, 83, of 506 Guyandotte Ave., died Wednesday, March 1, 2000, in a Beckley hospital following a long illness.

WEST MILFORD - Michelle Lea Joseph, 11, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at West Milford Baptist Church. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Pine View cemetery, Orgas.
Friends may call noon to 2 p.m. and 4 to 7 p.m. today at the church.

Urvin C. Mills

Urvin C. Mills, 93, of 3016 Hinton Road, White Oak Mountain, died at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000, at a Beckley hospital following a short illness.
Born May 7, 1906, in Jumping Branch, he was the son of the late Amos Posey Mills and Cora Simmons Mills.
Mr. Mills was a retired farmer, timberman and coal miner, and was a former employee of the West Virginia Department of Highways. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Shady Spring, a member of the UMWA and a lifelong resident of the Jumping Branch and White Oak areas.
He was preceded in death by three daughters, Florence Richmond, Nora Walker and Ruby Mills; three sisters, Versie Mills, Ora Cochran and Myrtle Lilly; a brother, Lacy Mills; two grandsons; a great-granddaughter; and a great-great-grandson.
Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Virgie Smith Mills; three daughters, Mildred Adkins of White Oak, June Crawford of Sweet Water, Texas, and Ethel Phillips and her husband, Leslie, of White Oak; a sister, Macie Lilly of Beckley; many nephews, nieces and friends, including a special nephew, Lonnie Mills of White Oak; 19 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. today at Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home Shady Spring Chapel with the Rev. Orville Setliff officiating. Burial will follow in Simmons cemetery, Mount View.
Friends called 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Ronald Adkins, Brett, Mark and Brian Phillips, John Kincaid, Windell Farley and Billy Redden.

Nellie F. Moran

STERLING, Va. - Nellie Faye Conner Moran, 90, of 115 N. Kennedy Road, formerly of Windmill Gap, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, at Glenwood Park Retirement Village.
Born Feb. 27, 1910, in Arlington, McDowell County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Costley Conner and Jurusha "Rosie" Elwick Conner.
Mrs. Morgan had been a resident of Sterling for 36 years and was a homemaker. She was a member of Sterling Park Baptist Church, Sterling.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey H. Morgan; a son, Elmer C. Moran; a grandson, Kenneth A. Moran; two brothers, Clyde Conner and Raymond Conner; two half brothers, William Sperry and Robert Sperry; and two half sisters, Mary Beggs and Josephine Graham.
Survivors include two daughters, Rheba Moran Jagers and Naomi L. Moran, both of Sterling; a son, Dewey D. Moran of Mullens; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home, Bluewell, with the Rev. Betty Shields officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Courthouse Road, Princeton.
Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and one hour before services Friday.

Kendal P. Ritchie

OAK HILL - Kendal Perry Ritchie, 73, of 120 Riner Ave., died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, in Oak Hill following a long illness.
Born Sept. 16, 1926, in Francis, he was the son of the late Leo Ritchie and Nancy Stovall Ritchie.
Mr. Ritchie was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, was employed as a roof bolter with Central Appalachian Coal Co. in Montgomery and was a member of the UMWA.
He was a member of Gentry Missionary Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Morton Ritchie.
Survivors include his children, Steve Ritchie of Circleville, Ohio, Vickie Miller of Oak Hill and Timothy Ritchie of Oak Hill; five grandchildren; two sisters, Neva Miller of Covington, Va., and Patricia Dickerson of Beckley; and two brothers, Frank Ritchie of Peterstown and Cline Ritchie of Rhodell.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at High Lawn Funeral Home Chapel, Oak Hill, with the Rev. Bill Drennen officiating. Entombment will follow in High Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, Oak Hill.
Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Clarence V. Rogers

OAK HILL - Clarence Vincent Rogers, 83, died Wednesday, March 1, 2000, at his home following a long illness.
Born Dec. 26, 1916, in Oak Hill, she was the daughter of the late L.C. and Edna Legg Rogers.
Mrs. Rogers was a retired maintenance worker for the Fayette County Board of Education, Fayetteville. He was a member of Fellowship Memorial Baptist Church, Oak Hill, a charter member of the West Virginia Boxing Hall of Fame and a national Golden Gloves champion.
He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Ruth Dick Rogers, on Dec. 6, 1999.
Survivors include four sons, Richard C. Rogers of Oak Hill, Michael Rogers of Cleveland, Tenn., John Rogers of Oak Hill and Thomas Rogers of Dothan; two daughters, Barbara Dixon of Oak Hill and Virginia Futrell of Cary, N.C.; eight grandchlidren, Richard V. Rogers of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, John Dixon of Oak Hill, Christopher Rogers of Cleveland, Tenn., Vincent Parker of Raleigh, N.C., Timmy Parker of Raleigh, N.C., Stacy Cash of Cleveland, Tenn., Brian Dixon of Biloxi, Miss., and Thomas Rogers Jr. of Dothan; and a great-granddaughter, Micala Cash of Cleveland, Tenn.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Tyree Funeral Home Chapel, Oak Hill, with the Revs. Bill Menefee and Darrell Fuller officiating. Burial will follow in High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill.
Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be John Dixon, Brian Dixon, Rick Rogers, Chris Rogers, T.J. Rogers, Timmy Parker and Vincent Parker.
