HINTON - Mr. Billie G. Dean, 72, died Saturday evening, June 3, 2000, at Summers County Appalachian Regional Hospital in Hinton following a long illness.
Born Feb. 29, 1928, in Pocahontas County, he was a son of the late Grady and Sylvia Garrison Dean, and had lived most of his life in Summers County.
Mr. Dean was a member of the Sandstone Baptist Church, was a construction worker, and was an Army veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Adaline M. Conway, in 1993.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Ivaline Berry Dean at home; four brothers, Joe Dean of Beckley, Henry Dean of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Bobby Dean of Seaford, Va., and Tommy Dean of Marion, Ohio; two sisters, Kathleen Logan of Beckley and Evelyn Fink of Marion, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Eddie Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity.

Virginia Dobbins
QUINWOOD - Mrs. Virginia Dobbins, 91, died Saturday, June 3, 2000, at her home following a short illness.
Born Oct. 22, 1908, in Mannington, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary A. Whelan Ryan.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Tish Martin, Winnie Wilkins, Mary Gower, and Flossie Elliott; and four brothers, Matthew, Joseph, John and Cassy Ryan.
Mrs. Dobbins was a retired school teacher from Crichton School, a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Rainelle, and a member of the B.P.W.
Survivors include her husband, John Byrne Dobbins; one daughter, Carol A. Jones of Cape Coral, Fla.; two sons, John Byrne Dobbins Jr. of Albuquerque, N.M., and James Ryan Dobbins of Virginia Beach, Va.; seven grandchildren, Byrne Dobbins, Matthew Dobbins, Catherine Madden, Laurie Cooksey, Ryan Dobbins, Ronald Jones and Scott Jones; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be noon Tuesday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rainelle with Father Harry Dunn officiating. Entombment will follow in Wallace Memorial Mausoleum, Clintonville.
Friends may call at the church one hour prior to services Tuesday. There will be no evening visitation.
The family of Mrs. Dobbins has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations of sympathy may be made to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 401 13th St., Rainelle, WV 25962, or to the Rainelle Municipal Public Library, 312 Seventh St., Rainelle, WV 25962.

SABINE - Thelma V. Tilley, 73, died Saturday, June 3, 2000, at her residence following a long illness.
BLUE SULPHUR SPRINGS - Mrs. Selma B. Tincher, 85, passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2000, at her home after a long illness.
Born July 14, 1914, in Blue Sulphur Springs, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Nancy Bryant Berry.
Mrs. Tincher had been a lifelong resident of Blue Sulphur Springs, a member of the Avis Chapel Holiness Church, and a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Roy Edward Tincher, on March 5, 1996.
Survivors include three daughters, Helen Hamrick and Shirley Tincher, both of Alderson, and Bertha Smith of Milton Freewater, Ore.; two sons, Joelee Tincher of Alderson and Alfred H. Tincher of Lewisburg; 15 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Longanacre Funeral Home Chapel in Fairlea with the Revs. James Stoddard and Jack Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the McElhenney cemetery, Grassy Mea-dows.

NORFOLK, Va. - Katherine Louise Davis Wood, 77, formerly of Sprague, died Sunday, June 4, 2000, at her residence.
Born July 11, 1922, in Sprague, she was the daughter of John W. and Theora Davis.
Mrs. Wood was a member of the Brentwood Baptist Church in Norfolk, where she was also a member of the Dorcas Bible Class.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles F. Wood.
Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn S. Boggs and her husband William of Chesapeake, Va., and Frances W. Thompson and her husband John of Norfolk, Va.; one brother, Clyde Davis of Belton, Ky.; four grandchildren, Terri McMillan and Kathy Cupp, both of Norfolk, Charles Boggs of Chesapeake, and John Thompson of Virginia Beach; and two great-grandchildren, Travis Jenkins of Chesapeake and Bailey Cupp of Norfolk.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Rosewood Memorial Park, Norfolk, with the Rev. Joe Newman officiating.

GARTEN - Emma Jean Bowles, 83, died Thursday, June 1, 2000, in Hidden Valley Health Care, Oak Hill, following a short illness.
Born June 4, 1917, in Fayetteville, she was the daughter of the late George and Eliza Coleman.
Mrs. Bowles was a homemaker and member of Second Baptist Church, Fayetteville, where she served on the Usher Board, Mission Circle, New River Usher Federation, EIOC Club, AARP and Matrons Club.
She was a graduate of DuBois High School, Mount Hope, and attended West Virginia State College.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Bowles; four sisters, Lucy Randolph, Pearl Day, Irene Coleman and Deleware Matthew; and two brothers, George Coleman and James "Eddie Boy" Coleman.
Survivors include a daughter, Marsha Jean Brown and her husband, Paul, of Pearland, Texas; a sister, Isabelle Coleman of Atlantic City, N.J.; a sister-in-law, Emma Calender of Huntington; two grandchildren, Delrick John Brown and Aaron Matthew Brown, both of Pearland; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Second Baptist Church, Fayetteville, with the Revs. A.L. Simms and Robert Frazier officiating. Burial will follow in Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville.

Donald L. Crawford
Donald Lee Crawford, 64, of 118 C&O Dam Road, Daniels, died Saturday, June 3, 2000, in Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley, following a short illness.
Born Aug. 28, 1935, at Wood Bay, he was the son of Hazel Meadows Crawford of Lynchburg, Va., and the late Joseph Lee Crawford.
Mr. Crawford was a retired auto glass mechanic and had been a resident of Beaver since 1973.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Chloe Elaine Sheuy.
Other survivors include his wife, Ida Hunt Crawford; a son, Troy Crawford of Beaver; a daughter, Shelia Keller and her husband, Jerry, of Daniels; two stepsons, Freddie Hunt and his wife, Rosemary, of Beckley and Brian Hunt of Shady Spring; two brothers, Ralph Crawford and his wife, Judy, of Kansas City, Mo., and Delbert Crawford and his wife, Sarah, of Suffolk, Va.; four sisters, Shirley Kendrick of Lynchburg, Juanita Fleig of Lexington, N.C., Beverly Moore of Lynchburg and Zelma Casper and her husband, Jim, of Springfield, Mo.; and six grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel, Beckley, with Pastor Jim Lough officiating. Burial will follow in Hot Coal cemetery, Sophia.
