Dr. Paul E. Vaughan, 90, of Skyline Drive, Beckley, died Tuesday, June 20, 2000, at his home following a short illness.

Catherine E. Albaugh

FARMINGTON, Mich. - Catherine Elizabeth Albaugh, 86, formerly of Oak Hill, died Tuesday, July 4, 2000, at the home of her daughter following a long illness.

David Bolen

David Bolen, 21, of Josephine, died Sunday, July 2, 2000.

He was the son of David A. Bolen of Josephine and Billie Jean Bolen of Besoco.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Williams-Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Sophia. Friends may call one hour before services.

Joseph M. Boone

WINFIELD - Joseph M. Boone, 93, formerly of Victor, passed away Tuesday, July 4, 2000, at Montgomery General Hospital following a short illness.

Born March 29, 1907, at Vago, he was the son of the late John Boone and Gertrude Bowes Boone.

Mr. Boone was retired from Union Carbide, Alloy. He was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church and attended Naomi Primitive Baptist Church, Charleston.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret E. Boone on Dec. 7, 1984.

Survivors include a son, James L. Boone and his wife, Mary, of Winfield; three grandchildren, James L. Boone Jr. of Ann Arbor, Mich., Lee Angela Dages of Hinsdale, Ill., and Valerie Six of Scott Depot; and six great-grandchildren, James L. Boone III, Joseph Morgan Boone, Lucas Dages, Sam Dages, Anthony Marino and Chase Six.

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home Chapel, Ansted, with Elder Monrow Hamons officiating. Burial will follow in Restlawn Memory Gardens, Victor.

Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home chapel.

Phyllis J. Brightwell

Phyllis Jane Brightwell, 65, of Cool Ridge, died Tuesday, July 4, 2000, in University of Virginia Hospital, Charlottesville, Va., following a short illness.

Born Aug. 3, 1934, in Teays Valley, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Anna Virginia Bandy Morrison.

Mrs. Brightwell was a former employee of the Bank of Raleigh and also was formerly employed by the National Bank of Commerce, Charleston.

Survivors include her husband, James Brightwell; a son, Stephen Brightwell and his wife, Shelly, of Charleston; four brothers, John W. Morrison of Bluefield, Va., William Morrison and his wife, Opal, of Chesapeake, Richard Morrison and his wife, Patty, of St. Albans and Phillip Wayne Morrison and his wife, Bonney, of Winfield; and four sisters, Mrs. Winifred (Virginia) Bennett of Teays Valley, Mrs. Joe (Jewell) Dingess of St. Albans, Sharon Dye of Shenandoah Junction and Mary Sutherland of Hudson, Ohio.

Services will be noon Friday at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel, Hinton. Private graveside services and burial will follow in Greenbrier Burial Park, Hinton.

Friends may call 10 a.m. until time of services Friday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to University of Virginia Health Systems-Hospice Care Unit, P.O. Box 801-454, Charlottesville, VA 22908.

Dr. Elmira G. Burch

Dr. Elmira Grandison Burch, 92, of 100 Main St., Beckley, formerly of Lester, died Sunday, July 2, 2000, at Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley, following a long illness.

Born Aug. 4, 1907, in Kansas, she was the daughter of the late Dr. James Grandison and Ida Grandison.

Dr. Burch was a podiatrist in the Beckley and Lester area.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of Lester and a musician, being an accomplished pianist.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sylvester Burch in 1986; and a sister, Aileen Simpson.

Survivors include her dear friends, Paul and Judy McGraw of Bolt; a host of cousins, relatives and friends; two great-nephews, Victor Simpson of Huntington and Telford Simpson III of Augusta, Ga.; and three great-nieces, Jewell Thomas of Willingboro, N.J., Sharon Freeman of East Orange, N.J., and Lillian Simpson of Hilltop.

Services will be noon Friday at Ritchie and Johnson Funeral Parlor Chapel, Beckley, with Bishop Fred T. Simms and the Rev. Abner Wright officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.

Victoria J. Burnett

Victoria Jean Deshavo Burnett, 46, died Wednesday, July 5, 2000, at a Beckley hospital following a long illness.

Bertha Agnes Cook

Bertha Agnes Cook, 75, of Beckley, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 4, 2000, following a short illness.

Born Oct. 31, 1924, in Naoma, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Nancy Smith Peters.

Mrs. Cook was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Cook in 1966, Claude Fitzpatrick in 1994; a grandson, Scott Webb in 1986; and several brothers and sisters.

Survivors include two sons, Everett Cook and his wife, Danette, of Beckley and Tim Cook and his wife, Cherie, of Naoma; four daughters, Linda Sue Cook of Ohio, Nancy Holley and her husband, Harry, of Naoma, Peggy Webb and her husband, Buddy, of Ohio and Mary Douglas of Ohio; a stepdaughter, Barbara Casarow and her husband, John, of New Jersey; a stepson, Claude Butch Fitzpatrick and his wife, Rita, of Texas; 18 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; and eight stepgreat-grandchildren.

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Blue Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, Beckley, with the Rev. Wayne Peters officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.

Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Vonda S. Dorsey

LANCASTER, S.C. - Vonda Sue Freeman Dorsey, 42, formerly of Laurel Creek Nursing Home, Big Otter, died Monday, July 3, 2000.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Waters Funeral Chapel, Summersville. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral chapel.

Robert 'Bob' Farren

OCEANA - Robert Orlie "Bob" Farren, 64, of Crouch Farm, died Tuesday, July 4, 2000, in a Pinehurst, N.C., hospital following a short illness.

Born Nov. 30, 1935, in Meadow Bridge, he was the son of Icie Clay Forren of Oceana and the late Orlie C. Forren.

Mr. Farren was a graduate of Oceana High School and attended Morris Harvey College. He was a retired golf course superintendent and a member of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America. He served as superintendent at Clear Fork Valley Golf Course in Clear Fork, Big Bend Golf Course in Tornado and Sleepy Hollow Golf Course in Hurricane.

He was a former resident of Tornado, St. Albans and Scott Depot. Mr. Farren was of the Baptist faith.

Other survivors include his wife of 43 years, Marilyn June Francis Farren; a son, Robert "Bob" Farren Jr. and his wife, Kathy, of Pinehurst; a grandson, Casey Farren, and a granddaughter, Kristin Farren, both of Pinehurst; two sisters, Gale Ward of St. Albans and Neva Jean Baldwin of Huntington; and two brothers, Jim Farren of Oceana and Butch Forren of Kopperston.

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Melton Mortuary Chapel, Beckley, with the Revs. Erwin Gregory and David Price officiating. Entombment will follow at 2:30 p.m. in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny.

Friends may call noon until time of services Friday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Robby Crouch, Shawn Farren, Bart Forren, Steve Mason, Jimmy Farren and Heath Forren.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Crouch, Jim Evans and Harold Harris.

Donations of sympathy may be made to the Clear Fork Valley Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 1553, Oceana, WV 24857.

Fred M. Frisk

MOUNT HOPE - Fred M. Frisk, 91, died Tuesday, July 4, 2000, at Plateau Medical Center, Oak Hill, following a sudden illness.

Born Nov. 18, 1908, in Hilltop, he was the son of the late Gustav and Eva Nickell Frisk.

Mr. Frisk was a retired banker from the Bank of Mount Hope and was formerly employed at New River Machine Shop, Mount Hope. He was a member of Mount Hope Presbyterian Church and a former member of the Mount Hope Lions Club.

He was an avid golfer and photographer.

Survivors include his wife, Faye H. Frisk; a son, Mike Frisk and his wife, Vicki, of Charleston; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Frisk of Atlanta and Michael Frisk of Austin, Texas; and a brother Charles Frisk of Dayton, Ohio.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. today at Mount Hope Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Jerry Cook officiating. Entombment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum No. 3, Beckley.

Friends may call 10 to 10:30 a.m. today at the church.
