KING, N.C. - Mr. James Franklin Harman, 71, formerly of Ghent, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000, at the Wake Forest University Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, N.C. following a long illness.
Graveside rites and burial will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Tom Lilly cemetery in Ghent. There will be no visitation.

HUDSON, Ohio - Mary Grace McClung, 90, formerly of Oak Hill, died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, at Hudson Elms Nursing Home following a long illness.
Born April 18, 1910, in Hill Top, she was a daughter of the late James P. and Ida White Stanley.
Mrs. McClung was a homemaker and a member of the Red Star Baptist Church in Red Star.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Oswald Beryl McClung; one son, James McClung; and one grandson, Danny Thomas.
Survivors include one son, John Robert McClung Sr. of Hudson; two daughters, Lovey "Polly" Thomas of Oak Hill and Brenda Coburn of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two sisters, Jean Simon of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Lenore Maschal of Evington, Va.; 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Tyree Funeral Home Chapel in Oak Hill with the Rev. John Robert McClung Jr. officiating. Burial will be at High Lawn Memorial Park in Oak Hill.

OAK HILL - Mrs. Audrey P. Mickey, 72, died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, at her home following a long illness.
Born March 22, 1928, in Leslie, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Evalyn Matthews.
Mrs. Mickey was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in Harlem Heights, where she served on the Usher Board.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Mickey; one brother, Charlie Matthews; one sister, Evelyn Arnett; and a son, Gregory Mickey.
Survivors include four daughters, Ann Price of Charlotte, N.C., Ellinor Mickey of Oak Hill, Debra Harmon and husband Thomas of Denver, N.C., and Dana Pate and husband Tommy of Oak Hill; two sons, James Mickey and wife Lennetta of Charlotte, N.C., and Wayne Mickey and wife Debra of Oak Hill; five grandsons, Direk Mickey, James Mickey Jr., Tommy Pate III, Nicholas Harmon and Michael Harmon; three granddaughters, Delicia Mickey, Brandi Carr and Toni Pate; two great-granddaughters; a sister-in-law, Pearl Matthews of Harlem Heights; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Clarence J. Morris
Clarence James Morris, 79, of Prosperity, died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, in a Beckley area hospital following a long illness.
Born May 21, 1921, in Long Branch, he was the son of the late Lon and Vada Ferrell Morris.
Mr. Morris was a coal miner for 36 years and retired from new River Coal Co. at Cranberry. He was a member of UMWA and attended Sprague Freewill Baptist Church. Mr. Morris loved fishing, hunting and outdoor work.
He was preceded in death by six brothers, Charles, Frank, Aubrey, Cecil and Latell Morris and an infant brother; one half brother, Ernie Morris; and three sisters, Margaret Arthur, Marie Persinger and Addine Warwick.
Survivors include his wife, Rosa E. Morris; a daughter, Mary Kathryn Jensen of Effie, Minn.; three granddaughters, Carey Anderson, Patricia Francisco, and Kristi Francisco, all of Effie, Minn.; three great-grandchildren, Allen, Emily and McKayla Francisco, all of Effie, Minn.; three sisters, Mary Christian of Prosperity, Frances Williams of Beckley and Betty Pennington of Beckley; and one brother, Bobby Morris of Prosperity.

Thelma Gertrude Toney Raines, 79, of Dorcas Avenue, Beckley, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000, at her home following a long illness.
Born March 18, 1921, in Beckley, she was the daughter of the late George and Mary Stover Toney.
Mrs. Raines spent her childhood at Clear Creek. She worked as a nurse aide at a Beckley hospital and worked as an insurance agent. She had been a resident of Dorcas Avenue for the past 39 years and was of the Christian faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Covey Rex Raines; two daughters, Linda Lee Blaylock and an infant daughter, Mary Ann; a son, Danny Rex Raines; a sister, Josephine; and two brothers, Perry "Buck" and Tom Toney.
Survivors include two sons, Roger Dale Raines and his wife Marilyn Ann of Beckley and Michael Dwayne Raines and his wife Linda Joyce of Bradley; three daughters, Patricia Ann James and her husband Owen, and Sandra Jean Allison and her husband Bobby Lee, all of Daniels, and Betty Sue Metrick of Beckley; 28 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Layretta Toney of Clear Creek, Catherine Vaji of Cleveland, Ohio, and Martha Sterzoy of Wewahitthka, Fla.; and a special friend, Timmy Lafferty.

Clarence Reed
Mr. Clarence Reed, 78, of Odd, died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, at the Beckley VA Medical Center following a long illness.
Born March 9, 1922, in Egeria, he was the son of the late George Blackburn Reed and the late Rosie Sizemore Reed.
Mr. Reed was a retired coal miner, a member of the UMWA, and a World War II U.S. Navy veteran. He was of the Church of God faith, and was a lifelong Odd-area resident.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Beulah Perdue Reed; two sons, Harley James Reed of Huntington and Kenneth Gene Reed of Danville, Va.; three daughters, Brenda Ann Smallman and husband Richard of Casper, Wyo., Linda Carol Shur and husband Leroy of Clarkston, Wash., and Cathy Reed of Odd; two sisters, Nellie Daniels of Surveyor and Zella Reynolds of Coal City; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

MOUNT HOPE - Norma Jean Bailey, 63, died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2001, at a Beckley hospital following a long illness.
Born Jan. 22, 1938, at Freeman, she was the daughter of the late Glacial Clay and Willie Blankenship Byrd.
Mrs. Bailey was a homemaker and of the Christian faith.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Randy Byrd; and a sister, Betty Sullivan.
Survivors include her former husband and friend, Bob Bailey of Mount Hope; two daughters, Theresa Martin and husband, Steve, and Bobbie Pruitt and husband, Rocky, both of Mill Creek; six granddaughters, Christy Martin, Sarah Martin, Kellie Martin, Heather Martin, Rebecca Pruitt and Marissa Pruitt; two brothers, Billy Byrd and Bobby Byrd, both of Minden; and several nieces and nephews.
