Sara Bryanne Coleman, 18, of Milton went to be with the Lord Monday, August 16, 2004. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, August 19, 2004, at the Wallace Funeral Home, Milton, by Pastor Paul Meadows. Burial in Union Ridge Cemetery. She was born November 7, 1985, in Huntington, a daughter of Tim and Theresa G. Douglas Coleman of Milton. She was a graduate with high honors from Cabell Midland High School. She was a member of the Children's Teaching Academy and the Second Guyandotte Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Raymond Coleman. In addition to her parents, she is survived by maternal grandparents, Charles and Evelyn Douglas of Ona, paternal grandmother, Josephine Coleman of Huntington; two brothers, Josh Coleman and Ben Coleman of Milton; special aunts and uncles, Debra and Greg Hesson of Ona, Dan and Liese Coleman of Pisgah Forest, N.C.; special cousins, Chad, Misty and Leeann; and a host of special friends and relatives.

Oscar W. “Buster” Keaton

Oscar W. “Buster” Keaton, 90, of Milton passed away Monday, August 16, 2004, in Putnam General Hospital. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, August 18, 2004, at Heck Funeral Home, Milton. Burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. He was born November 13, 1913, in Cabell County, West Virginia, a son of the late William C. and Garnet Bonar Keaton. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Glenn Keaton; two brothers, Creath L. and Floyd Keaton; and one sister, Hazel Kirtley. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was retired from Blenko Glass, as well as a self-employed farmer. He is survived by two daughters, Janet Newsome and Peggy Black, both of Milton; two sons and one daughter-in-law, William Darrell Keaton and Donald and Margie Keaton, all of Milton; two grandsons, Michael Sowards and Jimmy Black, both of Milton, and two great-grandsons.

John “PaPoo” Linvllle

John “PaPoo” Linville, 87, of Barboursville, W.Va, passed from this life to his new home in heaven on Aug. 21, 2004, at home. Funeral service were conducted Monday, Aug. 23, 2004, at 11 a.m. at Elmwood Baptist Church by Pastor Rick Glass. Burial in Oaklawn Memorial Park. He was born Aug. 19, 1917, in Gilbert, W.Va., a son of the late Hayes and Rebecca Stowers Linville. John was a faithful member of Elmwood Baptist Church. He worked construction and retired from C & 0 Railway, Barboursville Shops. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth Linville and Sarah Louise Craddock; one brother, D. Wilson Linville; sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Leona Gothard and Lester “Babe” Stewart, and Lyle Gothard. He is survived by his wife of 63 years and nine months, Lenora Gothard Linville; daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Dennis Herrenkohl; son and daughter-in-law, David and Sharon Linville, all of Barboursville; and his six beloved grandchildren, spouses and 13 great-grandchildren, Stanley and Amy Herrenkohl and their sons, Brock, Hunter and Grant of Barboursville, Suzanne (Linville) and Herb Talkington and their children Jake, Elizabeth and Katy of Greensboro, N.C., Sandra (Herrenkohl) and Matt Carpenter and their sons, Cross and Cais of Ashville, N.C, Scott Linville and his children Mykenzie and Austin of Barboursville, Amanda (Linville) and Pat Hansen and their children, Tori and J.D. of Conyers, Ga, and Lt Shad and Amy Herrenkohl and their son Walker of Oklahoma City, Okla.. He is also survived by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Frank and Elene Gothard Spurlock, Mary Ann Gothard and Lewis Gothard, all of Barboursville, and many nieces and nephews who loved “Uncle John,” very much. Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, was in charge of arrangements.

Josephine A. Soho

Mrs. Josephine A. Soho, 89, of Barboursville, W.Va., died Thursday, August 19, 2004, in St Mary's Medical Center. She was born Aug. 26, 1914, in Carnegie, Pa., a daughter of the late Lui and Lucy D. Vivitori Bonomi. She was a homemaker and belonged to Barboursville Senior Citizens and Ladies Philoptochos of St. George Church. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Andy Soho, in 1993. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Alex Skirpan of Barboursville and Dolores J. “Dee” and David Butler of Huntington; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 23, 2004, at St. George Greek Orthodox Church; burial in All Saints Polish National Cemetery, Carnegie, Pa. Marshall William Jeffers

Marshall William Jeffers, of Lesage, W Va, died Aug. 21, 2004, at his residence after a long illness. He was born Dec. 14, 1947, in Huntington, W.Va., to the late William Marshall Steinbrecher and Pauline Hillman. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Betty Thacker, and grandmother, Nora Eplin. He was retired from AC&F Manufacturing, Huntington. He is survived by his son, Jason B. Jeffers of Lesage, W.Va.; daughter, Cassie Cain (Roy Jr.) of Culloden, W.Va.; grandchildren, Austin Jeffers, Emily Cain and Blake Cain; former wife Sharon L Jeffers of Hurricane, W.Va.; and companion, Rosie Beach of Huntington. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 24, at Beard Mortuary, Huntington, with the Rev. Chelcie Gibson officiating. Burial in Forest Memorial Park Milton W.Va. Bonnie Marie Siders Harless

Bonnie Marie Siders Harless, 92, of Cambridge, Ohio, formerly @f Barboursville, W.Va., passed away Thursday, Aug. 19, 2004, in Cambridge. She was born Oct. 6, 1911, in Monroe County, WVa, a daughter of the late Charles and Mary Lou Long Siders. She was preceded in death by her husband, Manford Harless; four sons, Denny Robert, James Monroe, Billy Lee and Harold Gene Harless; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two sisters, Hannah Siders and Mattie Litchfield; four brothers, Elmer, Dennis, Charles Lee and Charles Alien Siders. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Roselie Harless of Cambridge, Ohio, and Vernon and Mary Helen Harless of Louisville, Ky.; three daughters and one son-in-law, Mary Lou Rowe of Parma, Ohio, Carrie and Robert Lemon of Huntington and Mattie Matchett of Dickerson, Texas ; one brother, John Siders of Bidwell, Ohio; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Virginia Ruth and Bill Kinnaird of Hogsett, W.Va., and Doshie Mae Sydenstricker of Point Pleasant, WVa.; 18 grandchildren; 26 greatgrandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Bloomingdale-Salem Baptist Church, Barboursville. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, August 24, 2004 at Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel, Barboursville, by the Rev. Paul Day. Burial in Baylous Cemetery.

Amelia Eaton Adkins

Mrs. Amelia Eaton Adkins, a member of the Buford Chapter, National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, died August 17, 2004 in Lynchburg, Virginia. She was 89 and had been a member of the Buford Chapter NSDAR since 1985.

Amelia spent most of her adult life researching through records to document families in Wayne County. Before she moved to Virginia in 1989, she made her research materials available to the Buffalo Middle School in Wayne County. The collection includes family histories; vital records from Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio, and Kentucky; worksheets, books, newspaper articles, census records, cemetery citations and genealogical quarterlies. These resources have enabled many young people to search their family tree ancestors.

Mrs. Adkins' survivors include one son, Ronald Adkins, and daughter-in-law Jeanette Bowen Adkins, also a member of the Buford Chapter, NSDAR. They reside in Tacoma, Washington .

W.A. “Ted” Burdette

W.A. “Ted” Burdette, 65, of Poca died August 9, 2004, at home.

He was retired from the United Mine Workers and a member of Greenlee United Methodist Church.

Surviving: wife, Delores Burdette; children, Terry Burdette, Jackie Atkins, Garry Atkins, Larry Atkins and Cheryl Carnie; two sisters; three brothers; five grandchildren.

Service was held Wednesday, August 11, 2004, at Gatens-Harding Funeral Home Chapel, Poca, with Arlie Lynch and Chad Harding officiating. Burial was in Floral Hills Garden of Memories, Sissonville.

Memorials may be sent to St. Jude Hospital, PO Box 50, Memphis TN 38101.

Leunice Dillard

Leunice J. Dillard, 73, of Liberty died Monday, August 9, 2004, at Thomas Memorial Hospital following a short illness.

She was born February 18, 1931 in Kanawha County, a daughter of the late Guy and Lola Fisher Monday. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Glen Monday.

She was a homemaker, a member of the Community Tabernacle at Liberty and the Ladies Auxiliary at the church.

Surviving: husband, Carmen L. Dillard; sons, Randall L. Dillard and wife, Debbie of Given, Jeffrey A. Dillard and wife, Sherry, of Liberty; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Janet Lewis of Kenna; brothers, Carroll Monday of Huntington, Darrell Monday of Sissonville and Ervin Monday of South Charleston.

Service was held Thursday, August 12, 2004, at Long & Fisher Funeral Home, Sissonville, with the Rev. Billy Casto officiating. Burial was in Emma Chapel Cemetery, Liberty.

Taxine G. Fitzgerald

Taxine G. Miller Fitzgerald, 79, of Poca died August 10, 2004.

She was a retired lab tech from FMC and was a former employee of Bancroft Post Office. She attended Bancroft Church of God Mission and was a Christian, loving mother and friend.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Staff Sgt. Gene E. Fitzgerald Sr., her parents, James and Della Miller, brothers, Frank, Harless, Paul and Pete Miller, sister, Marie Landers, and her twin sister, Maxine Kelley.

Surviving: children and their spouses, Patty and Eddie Johnson of Poca, Gene E. Jr. and Amy Fitzgerald of St. Albans; grandchildren, Tony Erwin, Stephen Erwin and Megan Fitzgerald; two great-grandchildren; one step-grandson, Brad Johnson, three step-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews.

Service was held Thursday, August 12, 2004, at Gatens-Harding Funeral Home Chapel, Poca, with the Rev. Ralph Workman officiating. Burial was in Haven of Rest Memorial Gardens, Red House.

James C. Honn

James C. Honn, 64, of Hurricane died August 11, 2004.

There was no service. Allen Funeral Home, Hurricane, was in charge of arrangements.

Delphia C. Dolin

Delphia Catherine Dolin, 90, died July 31, 2004, at West Horizons Nursing Home in Gainesville, Georgia.

She was born January 27, 1914 in Poca, the daughter of the late Clate and Nettie Monday Casto.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles s. Dolin and daughter, Dotty Lou Dolin.

Surviving: daughrer, Elouise Harrison of Eleanor; son, Danny Dolin of Gainesville; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.

Service was held Tuesday, August 3, 2004, at Little-Davenport Funeral Home, Gainesville. Burial was in Westview Cemetery, Lula, Georgia

Charles Russell Walker

Charles Russell Walker, 71, of Hurricane died August 11, 2004, in Putnam General Hospital, following a long bout with cancer.

Born May 13, 1933 in Nitro, he was a son of the late Earl Sr. and Edna May Gunnoe Walker.

He was a member of Scary Creek Church of God, Scott Depot, and was a retired riverboat captain from American Electric Power with 35 years of service. He also worked with Madison Coal Company for 10 years. Being an avid hunter, he was also a member of the Beagle Dog Association. Cattle farming was another of his passions.

Surviving: wife, Genoa Farley Walker; sons, Russell Duane Walker of Poca and Randall Walker of St. Albans; stepchildren, Philip Farley of Mount Carbon and Gwen Kinciad of Big Chimney; sisters, Genevieve McCoy of Cooper City, Florida, Phyllis Zimmerman of Orange Park, Florida, Linda Whittington of Nitro, and Pamela Walker of Cross Lanes; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

Service was held Saturday, August 14, 2004, at Chapman Funeral Home, Teays Valley, with the Rev. Keith Hudson, the Rev. Garry Hale and his grandson, Bron Walker, officiating. Burial was in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.

Memorials may be made to Scary Creek Church of God, 340 Scary Road, Scott Depot WV 25560.

Vola Virginia Rose

Vola Virginia Rose, 78, of Hurricane died Friday, August 13, 2004, in Teays Valley Nursing and Rehabilitatrion following a long illness.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Junior Rose, and 10 brothers and sisters.

Surviving: son, Jerry Rose of Hurricane; daughters, Joyce Martin of Culloden and Dora Rooper of Milton; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.

Service was held Monday, August 16, 2004, at Allen Funeral Home, Hurricane, with Pastor James Dennis and Pastor David Thomas officiating. Burial was in Valley View Memorial Park, Hurricane.

Elbert B. Tucker

Elbert B. Tucker, 87, of Buffalo died at home on Friday, August 13, 2004, following a short illness.

He was a retired Teamster, belonging to Charleston Teamsters Local 175, a member of the Buffalo Church of God, a member of Kanawha Valley A.F.&A.M. No. 36, Buffalo, Scottish Rite and Beni Kedem Shrine, Charleston. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Minnie Whittington Tucker, wife, Martha Hammack Tucker, brpthers, Ancil Tucker, Ezra Tucker and Otis Tucker; sisters, Bessie Cunningham, Velvie and Hasie Tucker.

Surviving: daughters, Frances Palmer and Vickie Casto Coyle, both of Kissimmee, Florida; sons, Rickie Tucker of Scott Depot and Terry Tucker of Ft. Knox, Kentucky; sister, Oma Davis of Holly, Michigan; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.

Service was held Monday, August 16, 2004, at Raynes Funeral Home, Buffalo, with the Rev. Wayne Burch and the Rev. Ben Franklin officiating. Entombment was in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.

Verla Mae West

Mrs. Verla Mae Napier West, 67, of Poca died August 13, 2004.

She was a former employee of Smiley's and Gino's. She was a housewife and a member of Raymond City Community Church, where she was active in quarterts and singing groups.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl West, daughter, Karen S. Hill, and grandson, Elliot West.

Surviving: sons and their spouses, Howard “Butch” and Cheryl West of Springfield, Illinois, Carlos “Eric” and Donna West of Marietta, Ohio, Barry and Arya Farouzanfar of Virginia; brothers, the Rev. Carlos Browning of Medina, Ohio and the Rev. John Browning of Logan; sisters, Stella Jones of Sissonville, Thelma Johnson of Hurricane and Della Cogar of Berea, Ohio; grandchildren, Todd West, Howard Earl West III, Leona West, Carl West, Erica West, Jo'el Hill, and Brittnay Winters, three great-grandchildren.

Service was held Tuesday, August 17, 2004, at Gatens-Harding Funeral Home, Poca, with her brothers officiating. Burial was in Haven of Rest Memorial Gardens, Red House.
