HINTON — John Estil Gill, 88, died Wednesday, June 14, 2006, at Summers County ARH, Hinton, following a long illness.

Mary Gladys Holbrook

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Mary Gladys Holbrook, 90, formerly of Auto, died Tuesday, June 13, 2006.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Woodland cemetery, Auto. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home, Lewisburg.

Fletcher Levi Johnson

BALTIMORE — Fletcher Levi Johnson, 61, formerly of Beckley, died Sunday, June 11, 2006, at his home following several years of illness.

Born July 15, 1944, in Rocky Point, N.C., he was the son of the late Pearlie Johnson and Hattie Mae Dixon Johnson.

Mr. Johnson retired after 39 years as a laborer. He was a member of Free and Independent Holiness Church.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Lorraine Penn Johnson of Beckley; two sons, Troy Levy Johnson of Beckley and Fletcher Levi Johnson III of Baltimore, Md.; a daughter, Latia Lorraine Johnson of Beckley; brothers and sisters, Pearlie James Johnson of Baltimore, William Earl Johnson of Baltimore, Rosa Mae Kearney of Norfolk, Va., Delores Lee of Norfolk and Shirley Ann Kimbrough of Cambridge, Mass.; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Free and Independent Holiness Church, 107 Seventh St., Beckley, with Bishop Ernest Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Beckley.

Friends may call one hour before service Friday at the church.

June Arthur Mashos

June Arthur Mashos, formerly of Eccles, Beckley and Oak Hill, died Tuesday, June 13, 2006, in a Ripley care center following a long illness. She was 76.

Etta Miller

NORTH WILKESBORO, N.C. — Etta Elizabeth Taylor Woodie Miller, 89, of Lances Court, North Wilkesboro, died Tuesday, June 13, 2006.

Service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Miller Funeral Chapel, North Wilkesboro. Burial will be in Taylor Family cemetery on Gowings Knob Road, McGrady, N.C.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Taylor Family cemetery, c/o Alma Taylor, 288 Halls Creek Road, McGrady, NC 28649, or to Rock Springs Baptist Church Building Fund, 10313 Sparta Road, McGrady, NC 28649.

Donnie Belle Musick

Donnie Belle Musick of Myers Avenue, Beckley, died Tuesday, June 14, 2006, in a Beckley care center following a long illness. She was 89.

Pauline E. McGraw Stennett

MULLENS — Pauline E. McGraw Stennett, 88, passed away Monday, June 12, 2006, at Wyoming Nursing and Rehab Center, New Richmond.

Born Sept. 27, 1917, at McGraws, she was the daughter of the late Gordon McGraw and Susan Brooks McGraw.

Pauline was a graduate of Mullens High School, and during World War II she served with the Military Intelligence Division of the War Department. She was a lifelong resident of Mullens.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J.F. “Doc” Stennett; a sister, Norma McGraw; and a brother, W.B. “Barb” McGraw.

Survivors include her son, Jim Stennett and his fiancée, Kay Thomas; three granddaughters, Amanda Trump, Alycia Stennett and Jessica Stennett; a great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn Birch; a nephew, Danny McGraw and wife, Janet; and two nieces, Sue Green and husband, Glen, and Barbara Fanning and husband, Larry.

Committal service and entombment will be 2 p.m. Friday at Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum, Beckley, with the Rev. Glen Green officiating.

Kathleen Thomas Tabb

OAK HILL — Kathleen Thomas Tabb, 83, died at 8:50 a.m. Saturday, June 10, 2006, at SunBridge Pine Lodge Care and Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness.

Born Aug. 22, 1922, in Botetout County, Va., she was the daughter of the late Elmer Thomas and Mau-de Nutter Thomas.

Mrs. Tabb was a domestic worker and a housewife. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Greentown and a member of the Missionary Society.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson Tabb II; sons, Wilson Tabb III and Allen F. Tabb; and granddaughter, Allena Tabb.

Survivors include her two sons, Thomas Tabb (Irene) of Hockessin, Del., and David Tabb of Greentown; two daughters, Betty Ruth (Billy) of Kincaid and Wanda McCord of Columbus, Ohio; a special cousin, Marguerite Tolliver of Roanoke, Va.; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Greentown with the Revs. David Allen and Essie Ford officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.

Friends may call one hour before service Saturday at the church.

MONCOVE LAKE — Glenn Van-over, 59, died Tuesday, June 13, 2006.

Service will be 4 p.m. Friday at Morgan Funeral Home, Lewisburg. Friends may call 2 p.m. until time of service Friday at the funeral home.

Orbie D. Buckland

ORIENT HILL — Orbie D. Buckland, 67, died Sunday evening, Dec. 10, 2006, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, Fairlea, following a long illness.

Born Sept. 28, 1939, at Judson, W.Va., he was the son of the late Ivan Hampton and Dolly Ellen Grimmett Buckland.

He was a retired coal miner, and a member of the UMWA and had served in the National Guard.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Goldie Marie Thomas Buckland Walton and his second wife, Geraldine Mae Lively Hager Buckland; and a brother, Bill Buckland.

Survivors include a daughter, Connie Lynn Adkins and husband, Blaine of Mt. Lookout; three stepdaughters, Connie Jones and husband, Malcom of Leivasy, Joanna Gwinn and husband, Calvin of Quinwood, and Kathryn Hager of Leslie; two sons, Jeffery Dean Buckland and wife, Bessie of Columbus, Ohio and Charles Ray Buckland and wife, Mandy of Mt. Nebo; a stepson, Curtis Lively of Quinwood; a sister, Betty L. Farley and husband, Bryant of Galena, Ohio; a brother, Kenton Buckland and wife, Irene of Centerburg, Ohio; and 13 grandchildren.

Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Wallace & Wallace Chapel in Rainelle, with Pastor David Chrisman officiating. Burial will follow in Wallace Memorial cemetery, Clintonville.

Friends may call 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Frank ‘Roger’ Raggio Critchley, Sr.

NEW CASTLE, Del. — Mr. Frank Raggio Critchley, Sr. (“Roger”), age 65, of New Castle, Del., died suddenly on Saturday, December 9, 2006.

Mr. Critchley was born in Danese, W.Va., on March 3, 1941. A U.S. Army veteran, he proudly served his country as a decorated sharpshooter and explosives operator. He enjoyed a long career as a professional roofer, retiring as a foreman from Pollinger Roofing Company in Wilmington, DE. An avid sports enthusiast, Mr. Critchley was a fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies and of West Virginia University Mountaineers football. He was also a NASCAR fan, especially of the late Dale Earnhardt, Sr. In his leisure time, Mr. Critchley greatly enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and competing in league pool tournaments.

He is survived by two children, Belinda Critchley Walsh and Frank R. Critchley, Jr., both of Youngstown, Ohio; his mother, Mary A. (Atkins) Critchley of New Castle, Del.; five siblings, Roy Edward Critchley, Sr. and wife, Jean, of Elkton, MD; Audrey Hanshew and husband, Rev. Roy Sr., of Townsend, Del.; Joyce Slaughter of New Castle, Del.; Brenda Pritchett and husband, Bill, of Townsend, Del.; and Sandra Jaffe of Wilmington, Del.; and many nieces, nephews and devoted friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Roy E. Critchley, and a sister, Margaret Critchley Martin.

Friends may call 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, Del. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, Del.

Patty Annalee Daniel

Patty Annalee Daniel passed away Monday, Nov. 6, 2006, at her home in Alexandria, Va. She was born Jan. 3, 1941, at Bolt, a beloved daughter of Elson and Alice Milam Daniel, who preceded her in death.

Survived by a brother, Gerald of Knoxville, Tenn.; three sisters, Dolores of Kettering, Ohio, Ernestine of West Carrollton, Ohio, and Nancy of Herndon, Va.; nieces, Vicki and Karen of Nashville, Tenn., Lisa Johnson and Laurie Byrd of Virginia; three nephews, Kevin of Kingston, Tenn., James Daniel of Bolt, and Craig Wiley of Baltimore, Md.; and two great nieces and three great nephews.

Patty graduated from Trap Hill High School and then moved to Dayton, Ohio, where she attended Miami Jacobs College. She was employed by Master Electric Company and by Dayco Corporation. She later moved to Washington, D.C. for a career with the federal government. While employed by the National Science Foundation, she had the rare opportunity to visit the South Pole while spending two months in Antarctica. She later was stationed at the American Embassy in Tokyo, Japan for one year, while with the State Department. She worked for the National Security Council during the terms of Presidents Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, and the first term of President Clinton. She retired in 1996 after 25 years of government service.

Funeral services were held Nov. 9 in Fairfax, Va., with the Rev. R. Rowley, Messiah United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment followed at Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum C, Beckley, on Nov. 11.

Elmer ‘Ted’ Faulkner

Elmer “Ted” Faulkner, 60, of Beckley, formerly of Clendenin, passed away at home with his family by his side after a courageous battle of cancer.

He was retired from USF Holland, Gallopolis, Ohio. He had worked 15 years previously for Smith’s Transfer. He was a member of the Teamster Union Local No. 175 and No. 505. He attended West Point Academy and served his country as a Vietnam Veteran in the Army.

Ted loved the family farm and enjoyed hunting and 4-wheeling. He will always be remembered for his wonderful qualities and strong personality. He was a member of the NRA and NAHC.

Ted is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Juanita Faulkner.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 34 years, Kitty Faulkner of Beckley; daughter, Erica Collins of Arnett; granddaughter, Virginia Chaffin and husband, Jeff, of North Carolina; great-grandson, Brayden Chaffin, of NC; sisters, Bina Phillips and husband, Wayne, of Oak Hill; Sherry Douglas and husband, Rex Allen, of Charleston; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

He will be sadly missed by his best buddy, “Mike” his dog.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley with the Rev. Wayne Hooper officiating.

Friends may gather with the family 6 to 8 p.m. today at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Ted’s Farm Fund, c/o United National Bank.

At a later date there will be a special ceremony at the Family Farm to celebrate the life of Ted Faulkner.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the Midwestern Regional Cancer Treatment Center of Zion, Ill., Hospice of Southern West Virginia and Dr. David Watkins and his caring staff.

They would also like to express a special “thank you” to Tammy Fortner of Hospice, and the many family and friends of Ted Faulkner, for their constant caring and support during this difficult time.
