RAINELLE - Alma J. Martin, 90, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2003, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, Fairlea, following a sudden illness.
Born Nov. 25, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Waymon W. and Ollie Jane Evans Fox.
Alma was formerly employed by G.C. Murphy, was a member of Sewell Valley Baptist Church in Rainelle and a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Joe Martin; three sisters, Mildred Carper, Beatrice Walker and Lenora Ennis; and three brothers, Alton Fox, Walter "Doc" Fox and Marvin "Rube" Fox.
Survivors include four daughters, Katie Campbell of Advance, N.C., Audrey Hatfield and husband, Alfred, of Danese, Marjorie Ness and husband, Ronald, of Lewisburg and Patricia Vandall and husband, Jerry, of Mocksville, N.C.; a sister, Magdalena McClung of Lookout; 15 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Wallace & Wallace Chapel, Rainelle. Burial will follow in Wallace Memorial cemetery, Clintonville.

Zelma Cleo Thompson Miller
ALDERSON - Zelma Cleo Thompson Miller, 90, died Monday, Nov. 3, 2003, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Jo Ann and Bill Gadd in Alderson, following a long illness.
Born May 17, 1913, in Monroe County, she was the daughter of the late Dorse Lee and Ethel Oblin Thompson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glendon Miller; three sisters, Catherine Lilly, Claire Thompson and Minnie Young; and five brothers, Ottis Thompson, Bernard Thompson, Uless Thompson, Pencey Thompson and Raymond Thompson.
Mrs. Miller was a homemaker and a member of Old Greenbrier Baptist Church in Alderson.
Survivors include six children, Betty Walkup and husband, Mickey, of Medford, Ore., Jo Ann Gadd and husband, Bill, of Alderson, Jim Miller and wife, Mary, of Burney, Calif., Fred Miller and wife, Faye, of Burney, Connie Morris and husband, Joe, of Citrus Heights, Calif., and Dreama Gregory and husband, Leroy, of Yuba City, Calif.; three sisters, Gladys Martin of Forest Hill, Thelma Brogan of Beaver and Betty Burdette of Hilldale; a dear friend, Lillie Gadd of Alderson; 15 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Lobban Funeral Home Chapel, Alderson, with the Revs. Alvie Edwards and Mark Stauffer officiating. Burial will follow in Orchard cemetery, Ballard.

Wanda Eloise Sweeney, 82, of Beckley, formerly of Cool Ridge, died at 5 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2003, at her home in the arms of her daughter and grandchildren and their spouses and her caregiver, Kay Walker, following a two-year illness.
Born May 15, 1921, at Cool Ridge, she was the daughter of the late William Edward Griffith and Pearl Reed Griffith.
Mrs. Sweeney was a homemaker and a member of Open Door Church at Shady Spring and lived most of her adult life at Cool Ridge, having resided with her daughter in Beckley the past two years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Sweeney; her son-in-law, Larry O'Neal; a sister, Edith Jarrell; and an infant brother.
Survivors include a daughter, Donna O'Neal of Beckley; grandchildren, Cyndi O'Neal and partner, Judi Loberg, of Chapel Hill, N.C., Greg O'Neal and wife, Margaret, of Oak Hill and Jeff O'Neal and wife, Kristin, of Beckley; three great-grandchildren, Travis, Chloe and Sophie; three sisters, Arcie Walker and husband, Jim, of Cool Ridge, Marlene Chambers of Cool Ridge and Evelyn Lilly of Beckley; a brother, Calvin Griffith and wife, Helen, of Cool Ridge; and caregiver, Kay Walker of Beckley.

BUFFALO, N.Y. - Lola Mae Williams Wilkins, 85, formerly of Harlem Heights, died Sunday, Nov. 2, 2003, at Deacon Center Nursing and Rehabilitation, Buffalo, following an extended illness.
Born Jan. 3, 1918, at Prudence, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Samuel W. Williams Sr. and Julia Ann Redd Williams.
Mrs. Wilkins was a member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Buffalo.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry G. Wilkins, in 1987.
Survivors include a brother, the Rev. Samuel W. Williams Jr. and wife, Cleo, of Pittsburgh, Pa.; five sisters, Fannie B. Violet V. Caldwell, 89, of Beechwood, died Monday, Jan. 8, 2007, in a Beckley hospital following a long illness.
Born Jan. 19, 1917, in Bluefield, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Paris and Bessie Linkous Thompson.
Mrs. Caldwell was a homemaker, a 58-year resident of Beechwood, a former member of the First Church of God, Mullens and a member of the First Church of God, Midway.
In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, John W. Caldwell; two sons, Roy Caldwell Sr. and an infant son, Randolph Caldwell; a brother, Jimmy Thompson, and four sisters, Macie Hall, Montrey Shrader, Sue Warf and Mary Cervelli.
