Geneva ‘Neva’ Bailey Fralic

PINEVILLE — Geneva “Neva” Bailey Fralic, 97, of Pineville, ended her life’s journey on Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2006, at Raleigh General Hospital.

Born April 5, 1909, at Baileysville, she was the daughter of the late John and Goldie Gore Bailey.

Mrs. Fralic was a member of Pineville United Methodist Church. She was a retired school teacher with 30 years of service in Wyoming County and eight years of service in Michigan. She was proud of her students and their accomplishments. She was a member of the Wyoming County Association of Retired Teachers and the Order of the Eastern Star. She loved to travel and had visited all 50 states.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Ray E. Bailey; her second husband, Lyle W. Fralic; a granddaughter, Melissa Bailey; and two daughters-in-law, Elizabeth M. Bailey and Susan Bailey.

Survivors include two sons, Eugene R. Bailey and his wife, Marsha, of Cool Ridge and Billy R. Bailey and his wife, Joy, of Pineville; two grandchildren, John Bailey and his wife, Karen, and Glenn Bailey and his wife, Vanessa; five great-grandchildren, Michelle McKinney, Amanda Dewhurst, Ryan Bailey, Erin Bailey and Ste-phanie Bailey; a great-great-grandson, Dylan McKinney; and a special niece, Lana Sue England.

Service will be 1 p.m. Sunday at Calfee Funeral Service Chapel, Pineville, with the Rev. Gerald Roberts and Shadrick Stewart officiating. Entombment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Beckley.

Family and friend will serve as pallbearers.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Fralic’s name to Pineville United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 382, Pineville, WV 24874.

Maeola Gardner

OAK HILL — Maeola Gardner, 72, a resident of Oak Hill, died after a brief illness early Friday morning, Nov. 10, 2006, at Plateau Medical Center in Oak Hill.

Born July 22, 1934, in Killarney, she was the daughter of the late Nellie Viola Blevins and John Harvey Blevins.

She graduated from Fayetteville High School in 1952 and formerly resided in Cincinnati, Ohio, Dayton, Ohio, and Flemingsburg, Ky.

She had been employed by Baldwin Piano in Cincinnati, Chrysler Motor in Dayton, A.O. Smith in Mount Sterling, Ky., and Pioneer Trace Nursing Home in Flemingsburg, as well as Golden Age Rest Home in Oak Hill. She was also a loving, dedicated care giver to her mother, Nellie Blevins Coleman.

In addition to her parents, Maeola was preceded in death by two sisters, Sylvia Ash and Debbie Bailey; and a brother, Roger Dale.

She will be sadly missed by her brothers, Buford Blevins and wife, Eloise, of Lerona, Harvey Blevins and wife, Patsy, of Pataskala, Ohio, and David Blevins and friend, Cindy, of Oak Hill; and sisters, Frieda Herrman and husband, Chuck, of Cincinnati, Sue Weist of Oak Hill, Jean Adams of Cincinnati, Vesta Blevins of Elkhart, Ind., Patricia Elder and husband, Donald “Butch,” of Oak Hill, Linda McCallister and husband, Dallas, of Covington, Va., and Barbara Louisos and husband, Tom, of Oak Hill.

She is also survived by her two sons, James Gardner and wife, Beth, of Oak Hill and Gary Gardner Sr. of Oak Hill; a daughter, Peggy Sturdivant and husband, Jerry, of Cynthiana, Ky.; grandchildren, Lucas and Jessica Gardner of Oak Hill, Chase Calvert of Fayetteville, Gary Wayne Gardner II of Oak Hill and Kayla Kane of Cynthiana; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside service will be 3 p.m. Sunday by Pastor Jerry Bush of Oak Hill Nazarene Church. She will be laid to rest at High Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, Oak Hill.

Phyllis Jean Greco

Phyllis Jean Greco, 68, of Beckley, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2006, at home with her family after a courageous battle with lung cancer.

Born May 8, 1938, she was the daughter of the late George Slone and Pearl Smith Slone.

Phyllis loved gardening, cooking, decorating and was a part-time comedian.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Benny Greco; daughter, Brenda Tinerella of Westmont, Ill.; daughter, Linda Klika and husband, Richard, of Brookefield, Ill.; son, Anthony Greco of Beckley; sister, Shirley Ellis and husband, Buddy (the favorite); granddaughter, Ashley, and grandson, Dominick; special friends and family, Virginia, Dolly, Sharon, Patti, Lori and Scott, Benny, Mychell, Samatha, Amanda, Alissa, Gloria, Benjamin, Clarence, Allonna and Sue; our special Angel, Melissa; and many nieces and nephews.

Service will be 8 p.m. today at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley, with the Rev. Don Pfleger officiating.

Friends may gather with the family 6 p.m. until time of the service.

The family would like to give special thanks to Raleigh General nurses of 4 South and Hospice of Southern West Virginia.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made to Hospice of Southern West Virginia Inc., P.O. Box 1472, Beckley, WV 25802.

Eric Allen Griffith

WALKERTOWN, N.C. — Eric Allen Griffith, 33, of Walkertown, formerly of Beckley, died in a Winston-Salem, N.C., hospital on Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2006.

Born Sept. 5, 1973, in Beckley, he was the son of Larry Joseph Griffith of Beckley and Carol Jean Small Blake of Beckley.

Eric was an owner/operator of a landscaping business in North Carolina where he had been a resident for the past four years.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Brian Griffith and his wife, Terri Lynn, of Efland, N.C.; uncles, Robert Griffith and his wife, Mary, of Charleston and Lee Griffith and his wife, Ellen, of Florida; aunts, Retha Griffith of Arkansas and Patricia Burnette and Eliza Baum, both of Ohio; and 18 cousins.

Memorial service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Calfee Funeral Home Chapel, Beckley, with Pastor Michael King officiating.

Friends may call one hour before service at the funeral home.

Following Eric’s wishes, his body has been cremated.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 1131, Fairfax, VA 22038-1131, or to the Raleigh County Humane Society, P.O. Box 115, Beckley, WV 25802.

Martha Stewart King

MONROE, N.C. — Martha Stewart King, 89, died Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2006.

She was born in Wyoming County on Jan. 29, 1917, a daughter of the late Birt and Lillie Belle Allen Stewart.

Mrs. King was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Jesse King; a son, Thomas Harrison King; a daughter, Sandra Kay Perry; three brothers, Chaffin, Joe and Bill Stewart; and a sister, Louise Goble.

Martha is survived by three daughters, Sharon Lynn Burth of Orlando, Fla., Alma Gayle Birtton of Poquoson, Va., and Connnie Rankin of Monroe; a brother, Harry Stewart of Brooksville, Fla.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Service will be 2 p.m. today at Palm Memorial Gardens Chapel, Route 10, Matheny, with burial to follow.

The family will receive friends 1 to 1:45 p.m. today at Palm Memorial Gardens.

Gordon Funeral & Cremation Service, Monroe, will be caring for the family.

Edna Earle Stafford McBrayer

ROCKVIEW — Edna Earle Stafford McBrayer, of Rockview, formerly of St. Albans, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2006, at the age of 80.

Edna was born Nov. 19, 1925, in Oil Springs, Ky., and was the daughter of the late Earl and Vera Mahan Stafford.

Edna attended Berea College and Morehead State University in Kentucky and taught for several years in Johnson County schools. She worked as a department head and buyer for the Diamond and Stone & Thomas department stores for over 20 years. She was a resident of St. Albans for 48 years and was very active in her church, St. Andrews Methodist, ladies circle, homemakers club and bridge club.

In October 2001, Edna moved to Rockview to be near her daughter and family, where she attended Cook Memorial Baptist Church when physically able.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 40 years, Homer Wilson McBrayer; a sister, Betty Jo Stafford; and a nephew.

Survivors include her daughters, Terry S. Murray and her husband, Matthew, of Rockview and Carolyn Jane McGraw and her husband, Michael, of Beltsville, Md.; a sister, Mary Evalyn Rice and her husband, Donald, of Warren, Mich.; two granddaughters, Stephanie Goodson and her husband, Scott, of Indian Trail, N.C., and Madeline Cook and her husband, R.J., of Turkey Creek; a grandson, Michael W. McGraw of Crofton, Md.; four great-grandchildren, Jacob and Zoe Cook and Andrew and Parker Goodson; two nieces, four grandnephews and a great-grandnephew.

Service will be noon today at Cunningham Memorial Park Mausoleum, St. Albans. Burial will follow. Family will receive friends 11 a.m. until time of service at the mausoleum.

Raymond David McClelland

HINES — Raymond David McClelland, 20, of Hines, went home to be with Jesus on Thursday, Nov. 9, 2006, as a result of a motor vehicle accident at London.

Born Jan. 12, 1986, in Fairlea, he was a student at Mountain State Beauty Academy.

A sister, Debra K. McClelland, preceded Raymond in death.

Those left to cherish his memory are his mother, Karen Sue McClelland of Bancroft; his father, Gary A. McClelland of Hines; four sisters, Nina G. McClelland of Hines, Annette Haltunun of Michigan and Dianna McClelland and Bridgette Bailey, both of Texas; and four brothers, Charles D. McClelland of Florida, Brian H. McClelland of Hines, Michael Reed of Lenoir, N.C., and Mark Reed of Crawley.

Service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Wallace and Wallace Chapel, Rainelle, with Pastor Kermit Hunter Jr. and Pastor Paul Legg officiating. Burial will follow in Wallace Memorial cemetery, Clintonville.

Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Charles Edward Shaffer

RICHWOOD — Charles Edward Shaffer, 83, of Richwood, formerly of Charleston, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Nov. 9, 2006.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Mountain View Memorial Park, Richwood. There will be no visitation.

SETH — Charles Franklin Adkins, of Seth, died Friday, Nov. 10, 2006.

Service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Armstrong Funeral Home, Whitesville.

Ronald Wayne Dalton

PETERSTOWN — Ronald Wayne Dalton, 56, formerly of Princeton and Beckley, peacefully passed away and entered into heaven on Friday, Nov. 11, 2006, at Riverview Nursing Home in Rich Creek, Va.

Born May 19, 1950, at Ronceverte, he was the son of the late Joe and Mae Mann Dalton Sr.

Ronald was a member of Rock Camp Baptist Church and a past member and officer of the Princeton Jaycees and the Jaycee I. Senate. He was a supervisor for UPS in Beckley. Ronald loved playing with Jena, fishing with brother Joe and friends and spending time with his family at the beach.

Survivors left to cherish the memory of Ronald are his wife of 37 years, Nancy Taylor Dalton; a son, Chris Dalton and wife, Tiffany, of Peterstown; a daughter, Melanie Dalton and her fiancé, Todd Keffer, of Peterstown; a brother, Joe Dalton Jr. of Union; a sister, Drema Wykle of Peterstown; two very loved granddaughters, Jean Dalton and Estella Keffer, both of Peterstown; in-laws, Estil and Irma Taylor of Peterstown; plus many family and friends.

Service will be 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 13, at Wickline Funeral Home, Lindside, with the Rev. Donald Lowe officiating. Burial will follow in Keaton cemetery, Greenville.

Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Ballard, Danny Hicks, Tim Glover, Marty Walker, Ed Gilger and Scott Wickline.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Elmer J. Farris, 90, of Beckley, died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2006, in a local hospital following a long illness.
