Nellie Jane Johnson
HEDGESVILLE — Nellie Jane Johnson, 80, of Hedgesville, formerly of Beckley, died Thursday, Nov. 9, 2006, in Hedgesville following a long illness.
Born at Stanaford on May 31, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Jesse Johnson and Bessie Wardensky Johnson.
Miss Johnson was a homemaker and a member of Stanaford Missionary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Willard, Homer and Jesse Johnson Jr.; and sisters, Irene Johnson and Ruby Johnson.
Survivors include her brothers, James Johnson of California and Walter Johnson of Rochester, N.Y.; a sister, Wanda Simpkins of North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside rites and burial will be 2 p.m. Monday at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley, with Pastor George Wood officiating. There will be no visitation.

Hannah Marie Sobeski
ROEBUCK, S.C. — Hannah Marie Sobeski, 18, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, Nov. 9, 2006, after a courageous battle with cancer. Her relationship with Jesus Christ was most important to her and carried her through the last six months.
Born in Spartanburg, S.C., on Sept. 12, 1988, she was the beloved daughter of Michael Alan Sr. and Deborah Houchins Sobeski. Hannah was a senior at Dorman High School where she was in the top 5 percent of her graduating class and elected 2006 homecoming queen by the student body. She was a member of the National Honor Society, Beta Club, Anchor Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Teacher Cadet, the Dorman Singers, Palmetto Girls State and Young Life. She served as the Student Council chaplain.
Hannah was a member of First Baptist Church of Spartanburg, where she was active in discipleship, the Senior High Sunday School Class, Mirror Image Youth Choir, counselor for Camp Voyager and a Kentucky Missions team leader.
In addition to her parents, Hannah is survived by her brothers, Michael Alan Sobeski Jr., and Andrew Clayton Sobeski, both at home; her maternal grandparents, C. Leon and Ellen Smith Houchins of Daniels; her paternal grandmother, Doris Shrewsberry Sobeski of Shady Spring; her aunts and uncles, Clayton and Hope Houchins of Boiling Springs, N.C., and their son, Caleb Cabiness, and Steve and Brenda Sobeski Lowery of Shady Spring, and their children, Amy Farley and Kylie and Kaleb Surratt.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, James Sobeski.
The family will receive friends 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. today at First Baptist Church, Spartanburg. Service will follow at 3 p.m. in the church sanctuary with Rev. Donald J. Wilton and the Rev. Seth Buckley officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
Serving as pallbearers are Russell Callicutt, Martin Tiller, Jacob Robinson, Josh Robinson, Wyatt Rosenlund, Zachary Brewer, Daniel Black and Christopher Huey. Honorary pallbearers are members of Hannah’s Discipleship Group and the staff of Specialty Gifts Galore.

Elizabeth ‘Maw’ Hess Billups
RAMSEY — Elizabeth “Maw” Hess Billups, 93, of Ramsey, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, Dec. 1, 2006.
She was born July 30, 1913, at Ramsey and was the daughter of the late Winfield and Birdie Mae McCutcheon Hess.
She was a homemaker and a member of Liberty Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Esmond Billups; a daughter, Alice Faye Lovett; and a son, Richard Darrell Billups.
She is survived by nine children, Beth Stover (Jay) of Marion, Ohio, Joann Novak (Frank) of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, Jerry Billups of Marion, Ohio, Lowell Billups (Sandra) of Sunday Road, Hico, Barbara Hinkle (Larry) of Columbus, Ohio, Elmer Billups (Pandora) of Canvas, Larry Billups (Martha) of Graydon, Scott Billups (Kay) of Brunswick, Ohio, and Danny Billups (Betty) of Sunday Road, Hico; 33 grandkids and many great-grandkids.
Service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Liberty Baptist Church, Ramsey, with the Rev. Joe Shaffer and the Rev. Johnny Critchley officiating. Burial will follow in Harrah Beech Run cemetery, Ramsey.

Rev. Paul Bohn
PRINCETON —The Rev. Paul Bohn, 92, of Eads Mill Road, Princeton, died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2006, at Glenwood Park Retirement Village.
Born in Bippus, Ind., on Aug. 3, 1914, he was the son of the late Rev. George and Christine Frankenfeld Bohn.
Rev. Bohn graduated from high school in Muskegon, Mich. He earned his B.A. degree from Western Michigan State Teachers College. He completed his theological education at Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia. As a Presbyterian minister, he pastored churches in Maine, Colorado, Michigan, Georgia and West Virginia, where he served Melrose Presbyterian Church in Princeton for 27 years. He also served churches in Charleston, Lashmeet and Lakeview. After retirement he served as pastor of Friendship Presbyterian Church for another decade. His focus was his family and the spiritual well-being of those who attended the churches he served. He was particularly interested in the spiritual development of youth.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Lena, Marie, Ted, Tilly, Adolf, Goettlieb, Martin, Armin, Lydia and Ruth.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Elaine Quick Bohn; three children, Paula Sue Bohn of Princeton, Dr. Marcia Bohn Khalil of Beckley and the Rev. David Paul Bohn, Ph.D., of Monument, Colo.; eight grandchildren, Amy, Ann Marie, Teresa, Paul, Andrew, Laura, Christopher and Ruth Ellen; great-grandchildren, Joshua and Julia; and sister, Christine Westfield of Ann Arbor, Mich.
A service to celebrate the life of the Rev. Paul Bohn will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, at Melrose Presbyterian Church, Princeton, with the Rev. Craig Bailey officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Courthouse Road, Princeton.
Friends may visit with the family 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, at Memorial Funeral Directory, Athens Road, Princeton.

Wilma Bragg
JESSE — Wilma Lee Cook Bragg, 81, of Jesse, passed away Friday, Dec. 1, 2006, at Charleston Area Medical Center, General Division, following a short illness.
Born Dec. 11, 1924, at Jesse, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Ruby Sanders Cook.
Mrs. Bragg was a lifelong member of Guyandotte Baptist Church, attended Oceana High School, and was manager of Wall’s Department Store in Pineville for 11 years. She had many fond memories of working in a factory during World War II in Danville, Va., making uniform fabric for the war effort. She enjoyed reading and being with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Pete Bragg; brother, Willis C. Cook; and sisters, Betty Ruth Cordle and Joann Lubonia.
Survivors include two sons, Dale “Butch” Bragg and his wife, Cathie, of Point Pleasant and Gregory “Smokey” Bragg of Radford, Va.; a daughter, Sue Hutchinson and her husband, Mikel, of Jesse; grandsons, Mikel Hutchinson Jr. of Jesse and Robert Dale Bragg and his wife, Staci, of Huntington; granddaughter, Sara Beth Wray and her husband, Kenny, of Kopperston; great-grandson, Isaiah Wray of Kopperston; and several sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Service will be noon Monday at Guyandotte Baptist Church, Jesse, with the Rev. Stacy Brooks officiating. Burial will follow in Cook Family cemetery, Jesse.
Friends may call 11 a.m. until time of the service Monday.

HUDDLESTON, Va. — Nellie Mae Acord Dalton, 64, died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2006, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Rehabilitation Center.
Born Sept. 27, 1942, at Clearfork, she was a daughter of the late Valentine Acord and Margie Wright Acord.
Nellie is survived by her husband of 26 years, Roger Lee Dalton; two sons, Charles “Chuck” Lee Morgan and wife, Patricia Michele, of Bedford, Va., and James Earl “Bink” Morgan and wife, Robin, of Oceana; two stepchildren, Melissa Carlsen and husband, Henry, of Satellite Beach, Fla., and Dustin Dalton of Melborne, Fla.; three brothers, Raymond Acord and wife, Frances, of Elkins, Dean Acord and wife, Wilma, of Roanoke Rapids, N.C., and Charles Acord and wife, Flossie, of Lynco; four sisters, Carrie Acord of Oceana, Josephine Morgan of Clearfork, Sue Vent of Oceana and Irene Reed and husband, Donald, of Berea, Ky.; six grandchildren, Matthew and Lauren Morgan, both of Bedford, Jason Morgan of Oceana, Hallie and Michael Carlsen, both of Satellite Beach, Fla., and Alex Dalton of Melborne; a special niece, Drema Laxton of Elkins; and a special friend, Blondine Brooks of Huddleston.
