Betty Holliday Anderson

CORLISS — Betty Holliday Anderson, 76, of Big Bend/Rainelle, passed away Friday, May 18, 2007, at her home, from a sudden illness.

Born Sept. 7, 1930, at Bellburn, she was the second child of the late Charlie and Aurelia Holliday.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert “Oley” Anderson; a sister, Alberta Shawver; a brother, Harold Holliday; and a granddaughter, Alexandrea Anderson.

Betty was a devoted, loving, and caring daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and neighbor.

Left behind to forever love and miss her are her four children and their spouses, Karlen Anderson Adkins and Tony of Mt. Nebo, Herbert Anderson and Debbie of Rainelle, Vicki Anderson Smith and Reid of Lost Creek, and Bryan Anderson and Angie of Corliss; 13 grandchildren, Colby Jackson, Brandy Jackson Lesher, Abby Jackson, Caleb Jackson, Leslie Adkins Thornton, Hillary Anderson, Jason Anderson, Joshua Kessler, Gretchen Kessler, Brian Smith, Colton Anderson, Heath Anderson, and Jedidiah Anderson; 14 great-grandchildren, Cyrus, Brody, Ryleigh and Kyleigh Jackson, Zhoe, Zebulon, and Silas Lesher, Jurney Sheets, Oley Jackson, Dakota Anderson, Isaac, Samuel, Nathanael, and Solomon Kessler; six sisters, Frances, Barbara, Hope, Pam, Deborah, and Janice; and a special and caring friend to Betty and her family, Wade C. Skaggs.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Minnie Belle Baptist Church of Corliss, with Pastor Gene Bennett officiating. Burial will follow at H.C. Anderson cemetery, Corliss.

Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. this evening at the Wallace and Wallace Chapel in Rainelle.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Arrangements entrusted to Wallace and Wallace of Rainelle.

Nancy L. Bennett

PETERSTOWN — Nancy L. Bennett, 70, of Peterstown, passed away Sunday, May 20, 2007, at the home of her sister, Carolyn Browning at Hinton.

Arrangements are incomplete at Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home in Peterstown.

Michael Ray Burns

FAYETTEVILLE — Michael Ray Burns, of Fayetteville, left this earthly life to enter his heavenly home on Saturday, May 19, 2007.

Born Feb. 6, 1953, in Huntington, the son of the late Sylvester Ray Burns and Rosetta Lee Phelps Burns.

Mike was an instructor of broadcasting for the Raleigh County Board of Education and a substitute teacher for Fayette County. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Oak Hill.

Mike is survived by his wife of 30 years, Sharon Burns; his son, Andrew Miller Burns and wife Nellie Marie Burns; two beloved grandsons, Eli Miller Burns and Isaac Morgan Burns, all of Fayetteville; and a loving circle of extended family, cousins, brothers and sisters in Christ, co-workers, and friends.

His remains rest at High Lawn Funeral Home Chapel, 1435 E. Main St., Oak Hill, where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday (today), and where service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, with Mr. Gene Miller officiating. Entombment will be in High Lawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Fayette County Public Library of Surprise Valley Youth Camp, P.O. Box 951, Beckley, WV 25801.

Franklin Lloyd Griffith

FENWICK — Franklin Lloyd Griffith, 62, of Fenwick, went home to be with the Lord on May 19, 2007, at home, after a long illness.

Simons-Coleman Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mitchell David Lawson

Mitchell David Lawson, 6 pounds, 15 ounces, passed away Saturday, May 19, 2007.

He was the infant son of David Lee Lawson Jr. and Maria McKinney Lawson of Daniels.

In addition to his parents, those left to cherish his memory include two sisters, Hannah and Mallie Lawson both at home; paternal grandparents, David and Donna Lawson of North Tazewell, Va.; and maternal grandparents, Danny and Charlotte McKinney of Stephenson.

Services will be 1 p.m. today at Mausoleum No. 3, Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, 5250 Robert C. Byrd Drive, Beckley, with Pastor Patrick Haynes officiating with burial to follow.

Blue Ridge Funeral Home, 5251 Robert C. Byrd Drive, Beckley, is in charge of the arrangements.

Ruth C. Boggs Lewis

FRANKFORD — Ruth C. Boggs Lewis, 94, of Frankford, passed away Sunday, May 20, 2007, at Autumn Way Assisted Living in Rupert.

Born June 4, 1912, at Esty, she was the daughter of the late Washington and Louella McLaughlin Boggs.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenna Lewis Sr., in 1960; a daughter, Betty Watson; brothers, Clyde and John; and sisters, Mottie, Ruby, Daisy, and Hester.

Mrs. Lewis was a homemaker and worked as a seamstress and caregiver and was a member of Enon Baptist Church.

Survivors include her five children, Kenna Lewis and wife Ann of Falls Church, Va., Samuel Lewis of Lewisburg, Sharon Thomas and husband Tom of Lewisburg, Larry Lewis and wife Linda of Imlay City, Mich., and Lowell Lewis and wife Pat of Frankford; a brother, Sam Boggs of Fairlea; 16 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Morgan Funeral Home in Lewisburg, with Rev. John Wyatt officiating. Burial will follow in Morningside cemetery at Renick.

Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mary Belle Oxley

Mary Belle Oxley, 84, of 303 East Drive in Princeton, died Saturday, May 19, 2007, at the Bowers Hospice House in Beckley.

Born in Greenville, W.Va., July 27, 1922, she was the daughter of the late William J. and Cora D. Foster Hill.

Mary Belle was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Princeton where she was a former Sunday School Teacher, W.M.U. member and served on numerous church committees in past years. She had been a resident of Princeton since 1965 moving here from Oak Hill, W.Va.

In addition to her parents, nine brothers and sisters preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, E. Pearis Oxley of Princeton; one son, Patrick H. “Pat” Oxley and his wife Kathy of Keller, Texas; two daughters, Sharon Dyer and her husband Joe of Princeton and Cindy Mann and her husband Eric of Gaffney, S.C.; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2007, at the First Baptist Church in Princeton with Dr. David Dockery officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Friends may call at the First Baptist Church in Princeton from 10 a.m. to the service hour on Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, 1116 Mercer St., Princeton, or Bowers Hospice House, 454 Cranberry Road, Beckley, WV 25801.

Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton is serving the Oxley family.

David M. Toler

LYNCO — David M. Toler, 72, went home to be with the Lord at 11:40 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2007, at Welch Community Hospital.

Born March 2, 1935, in Logan County, he was the son of the late Garland and Martha Betty Huffman Toler.

He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Arland Toler; a sister, Pauline; and a granddaughter, Tanisha.

Mr. Toler was a retired coal miner and a member of Pentecostal House of Prayer at Lynco.

David will also be remembered for his volunteer work in the Buffalo Creek Disaster, along with his aid in the rescue and search of the lost and surviving of the disaster. He took home 21 people. In the 1970s he raised money and volunteered his services to the Little Huff Creek Rescue Squad where he raised money to keep it open to the poor as well as for those who couldn’t pay. He was also the owner and operator of Toler Cable and ATT Cable, where he brought cable to the areas in Wyoming County.

David was always there when needed. To those who will remember David, they will remember him for his love of music. David played over six different instruments as the “Bluegrass Player.” He also helped restore the Wyoming County Horse Show grounds after the flood in 2001. David was loved dearly by his family as well as friends, and always will be.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Morgan Toler; three daughters, Donita Lester and fiancé, Danny Stewart, of Oceana, Maretta (Joel) Higley of Roanoke, Va., and Rhonda (Chess) Jackson of North Springs; four sons, Jeffrey Toler of Lynco, Delmas Toler of Oceana, Arland Toler and companion, Judy Hurley, of Rockhouse, Hanover, and Adam (Becky) Toler of New Richmond; two brothers, Eugene (Zola Mae) Toler of Parkersburg and James Toler of Clear Fork; two sisters, Loraine (Gene) Mounts of Tamcliffe and Louise Ferrell of Petersburg, Va.; three special grandsons, Joshua and Derek Lester and Gavin Lester; a special granddaughter, Rhonda Crouse; 13 grandchildren, Barbie, Jeremy, Damron Highley, Valeria Pennybaker, Christy Cline, Holy Hurley, Travis and Serena Lester, Skyler Toler, Gavin Toler, Kelly Conn, and Priscilla and Reva Lester; and great-grandchildren, Alexandria and Erin Lester, Daniel and Sarah Pennybaker, Charles, David, Ethan Crouse, Camron, Tyler and Conner Cline, Kristen, Ashton and Aiden Toler and Dakota and Alexis Browning.

Service will be 2 p.m. today at Pentecostal House of Prayer, Lynco, with the Rev. Barry Brooks and the Rev. Richard Massey officiating. Burial will follow in David Toler Family cemetery, Rockhouse Mountain, Hanover.

Daisy Frances Rakes Webb

OAK HILL — Daisy Frances Rakes Webb, 70, died Thursday, April 12, 2007, at Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington.

Born Jan. 26, 1937, at Carlisle, she was the daughter of the late John Posey and Fannie Gracie Adkins Rakes.

Mrs. Webb was a member of Assembly of God, Oak Hill, and a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Llewellyn Webb, on Feb. 25, 2006; two brothers, Homer Rakes and Paul Rakes; a sister, Viola Grace Rakes; and a half brother, Jim Miller.

Survivors include two sons, Cecil Dwayne Webb of Prosperity and David Llewellyn Webb of Oak Hill; a daughter, Sharon Frances Webb Beal of Oak Hill; two brothers, Cecil Rakes of Hilltop and Charles Rakes and wife, Betty, of Strasburg, Ohio; and three sisters, Pearl Bryant of Louisiana, Hallie Kincaid of Scarbro and Deana Robinson and husband, Calvin, of Republic, Ohio.

Graveside rites and committal service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Hilltop cemetery with Evangelist Calvin Robinson officiating. Burial will follow.

Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. today at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill.

Donald ‘Donnie’ Wilson

VICTOR — Donald “Donnie” Wilson, 46, of Victor, passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2007, at home following a short illness.

Born July 29, 1960, he was the son of Veronica Troxell Taylor and the late Donald Clifford Wilson.

Donnie was a Mason and former denmaster in Boy Scouts and had worked at Hanover Lantern Co. in Hanover, Pa., and Rivers Whitewater Resort in Fayetteville.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Keeney Wilson; mother, Veronica “Sissy” Taylor, and dad, Clarence Alden Taylor, both of Victor; two daughters, Jessica Lynn Wilson of Oak Hill and Ashley Renae Wilson at home; two sons, Shawn Klinefelter of Hanover, Pa., and Gage Alden Wilson at home; two stepdaughters, Chastity Ann Keeney of Oak Hill, and Crystal Kuhn of Hanover; three stepsons, Robert Keeney of Cumming, Ga., Tommy Davis at home and Brett Alexander Duncan at home; a sister, Judy Moses and her husband, Mark, of Victor; three brothers, Charlie Taylor and his wife, Kristal, of Victor, Tommy Taylor of Victor and Clarence Taylor of Burnsville; three half sisters, Patricia, Donetta and Marianne Wilson, all of Bakersfield, Calif.; a half brother, Roy Wilson of Bakersfield; and four grandchildren, Alexis Taylor Williams, Logan Kuhn, Alyssa Kuhn and Evan Kuhn.

Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, April 15, at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Chapel, Ansted, with the Revs. Greg Morris and Oliver Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Restlawn Memory Gardens, Victor.

Friends may call 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral chapel.

Patricia Ann Davis Worlledge

HICO — Patricia Ann Davis Worlledge, 66, of Hico, died Thursday, April 12, 2007, at Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio.

Born Dec. 11, 1940, at Lochgelly, she was the daughter of Anna Treadway Davis of Lochgelly and the late James Davis.

Mrs. Worlledge was a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, Midway, and a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Richard Worlledge; a son, Ricky Worlledge of Hico; daughter, Kathi Fitzwater and husband, Wayne, of Bradley; two brothers, Roger Davis and John Davis, both of Lochgelly; and a sister, Phyllis Davis of Kernersville, N.C.

Service will be 1 p.m. Monday, April 16, at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, Midway, with the Rev. Winston O’Neal officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant View cemetery, Fayetteville.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 15, at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill, and noon to 1 p.m. Monday at the church.

Pallbearers will be Steve Davis, Roger Davis, John Davis, Kevin Davis, Blaine Woodson and Jack Anderson.

Bishop Felix William Robinson

Bishop Felix William Robinson, 101, of 721 F St., Beckley, died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2007, at his home following an extended illness.

Born April 1, 1905, in Speedwell, Va., he was the son of the late Brown Robinson and Francis Montgomery Robinson.

Bishop Robinson was a retired coal miner, being a member of the United Mine Workers.

He was a member of Glorious Church of God In Christ, and was a minister, having ministered at churches at Sun, Mount Hope and Beckley.

He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, James and Abraham Robinson, Janie Nichols, Neely Kwyole and Mary Robinson.

Survivors include his wife, Esther Martin Robinson; two sons, Clifton Felix (Joyce) of Martinsville, Va., and David Eugene (Debbie) of Beckley; five daughters, Annette Sanders, Barbara R. Coleman (William), Delores Stewart (Ernest), Rhona Schofield and Olinda Smith (Wilbert), all of Beckley; a brother, John B. Robinson of Huntington; a sister, Clara Spiller of Huntington; 24 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of family members and friends.

Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Heart of God Ministries, 1703 S. Kanawha St., Beckley, with Bishop John H. Grant officiating. Entombment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Beckley.

Friends may call one hour before service Sunday at the church.

Arrangements entrusted to Ritchie and Johnson Funeral Parlor, Beckley.
