GAHANNA, Ohio — Zakah Virginia Yocum Shawver, 86, a native of Oak Hill, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2007.
Born and raised in Oak Hill, she was preceded in death by her son, William Ernest Shawver Jr.
Survivors include her grandchildren, Timothy Shawver, Michael (Beth) Shawver and Jennifer Clark; eight great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Alice Shawver; and many nieces and nephews.
Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Schoedinger Northeast Chapel, 1051 E. Johnstown Road, Gahanna, where family will receive friends 9 a.m. until time of service.
Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, 1950 Arlingate Lane, Columbus, Ohio 43228 in her memory.

Beatrice C. Sims
BALLANGEE — Beatrice C. Sims, 91, of Ballengee, died Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2007, in a Summers County care center after a long illness.
Born Aug. 5, 1915, at Indian Mills, she was the daughter of the late William A. and Orpha Belle Keatley Campbell.
Ms. Sims was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. She had lived her entire life in Summers and Monroe counties. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed canning.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Irvin Sims.
Survivors include nieces, Paulette Sims of Talcott and Amy Sims of Ballengee; great-nephew, Caleb Vaughan; cousins, Betty Mitchell, Billie Wall, Leonard Beckett, James Keatley, George Rhodes, Eddie Rhodes and James Stennett; sister-in-law, Hallie Sims of Ballengee; special friends, James and Mildred Richmond of Ballengee, Patsy Hendricks of War Ridge and John and Betty Hendricks of War Ridge and Renee Gore; and best friend, her pet, Missy.
Graveside service and burial will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, at Oak Grove cemetery, Ballengee, with the Rev. Tommy Mounts officiating. There will be no visitation. Those attending the service are asked to meet at the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mike Walker, John Hendrick, Jim Richmond, Fred Thompson, Charlie Nelson, Gene Tabor, Fred Elkins, Eric Tabor and Warren Tabor.

Elizabeth Ann ‘Liz’ Adkins
Elizabeth Ann “Liz” Adkins, 56, of Daniels, died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2007, at her home following a short illness.
Born March 5, 1950, in Beckley, she was the daughter of Josie Meador Stump of Daniels and the late Daniel Stump.
Mrs. Adkins was a graduate of Shady Spring High School and the Raleigh County VoTech Center. She was a retail cashier, and was a former employee of Montgomery Ward, a nursing home, the Beckley Hylton and was a volunteer at Daniels Elementary School.
Mrs. Adkins was a faithful member of Open Door Church at Shady Spring, where she sang soprano in the church choir. She taught Sunday school class and the youth class at the church, and was a decorator for the Ladies LCF of the church.
Surviving are her husband, Lowell “Shotgun” Adkins; daughters, Ann Morgan and husband, Dannie Morgan, of Point Pleasant and Andrea Dillon and husband, Mark Dillon, of Daniels; grandsons, Seth Orion Morgan of Point Pleasant; sister, Linda Niday and husband, Morris “Butch” Niday, of Herrin, Ill.; brother, Daniel “Danny” Stump of Daniels; very dear care givers, Buster and Phyllis Lilly of Shady Spring; and wonderful friends, Terry Stover and Jo Worley.
Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Open Door Church, Shady Spring, with Pastor George Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.
Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home, Shady Spring, and one hour before service Sunday at the church.
Family members and church members will serve as pallbearers.

David Ryan Hall
HICO — David “Ryan” Hall, 29, passed away at his residence Thursday, Jan. 18, 2007, following a short illness.
Born July 19, 1977, in Montgomery, he was a son of David and Lisa Hall of Ansted and Frances “Nancy” Teel of Cowen.
David was preceded in death by grandparents, Alberta Teel and Dave Rob Hall; and a first cousins, Sue Ellen Teel.
He was a meat cutter for New River Foodland in Hico and a member of Victor United Methodist Church.
Survivors are his wife, Wanda Jeraldine Casto Hall; mother, Frances “Nancy” Teel of Cowen; father, David and Lisa Hall of Ansted; sisters, Cari Hall of Beckley, Amy Hammons of Cowen and Michelle Lesher of Ansted; brothers, Bobby Hall of Beckley, Jason Gray of Beckley and Christopher Hall of Ansted; grandparents, Bill and Patsy Persinger of Canvas, and Pete and Juanita Teel of Edmond; and three nephews, Levi, Aiden and Elijah.
Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Lookout Baptist Church with Pastor David Bennett and the Rev. Kenny Hayes officiating. Burial will follow in Jeanette cemetery, Lookout.

Maxine Prince Merrrix
On Thursday, Jan. 18, 2007, Maxine Prince Merrix of Bradley entered into Heavenly Rest in a Beckley hospital following a short illness. She was 78 years of age.
Maxine was born April 15, 1928, at Grandview; she was the daughter of the late Robert and Effie Martin Gilkerson.
Maxine spent her childhood at Grandview, a longtime resident of Bero Avenue; she had resided in Bradley on Maple Lane the past three years. She attended Bradley Freewill Baptist Church. A homemaker, she was employed by the Bank of Raleigh for many years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Charles Prince and Lee Merrix; three brothers, Glen, Leo and Frank Gilkerson; and four sisters, Kathleen Adkins, Christine Shirkey, Lucille Samples and Ruth Creek.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Edna McDaniel and her husband, Jeff, of Beckley, Linda Lilly and her husband, Steve, of Maple Fork and Diana Bowling and her husband, Gary, of Elkton, Va.; sons, Luther Prince and his wife, Margie, of Glennville, Ga., and Paul Prince and his wife, Linda, of Shady Spring; a stepson, Greg Merrix of Flatwoods; three sisters, Dorean Morris of Prosperity, Marie Hunt of Meadow Bridge and Alice Jones of Baltimore, Md.; 19 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Service will be 11 a.m. Sunday at Melton Mortuary Chapel, Beckley, with the Rev. Wayne Peters officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley.
