Mary H. ‘Libby’ Bailey

BEACH CITY, Ohio — Mary H. “Libby” Bailey, 71, of Beach City, died Saturday, Oct. 22, 2005.

Service was Wednesday, Oct. 26, at Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory, Strasburg, Ohio.

Arrangements by Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Strasburg.

Lillie Mae Bonar

Lillie Mae Bonar, 86, of Amigo, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2005.

She was the beloved wife of Clifford Bonar Jr.; they were married for 67 years and eight months.

Lillie was born Nov. 27, 1918, at East Gulf; she was the daughter of the late Hobart and Bessie Dillon Graham.

She loved to cook and was a member of Amigo Missionary Baptist Church.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister and three brothers.

Other than her loving husband, those left to cherish her memory are her children, Brenda Lambert of Orlando, Fla., and Ronald Bonar and wife, Phyllis, of Amigo; grandchildren, Paul Cronk of Orlando, Debbie Flynn (Jay Brown) of River Falls, Wis., and Ginger Smith and husband, Kenny, of Rhodell; great-grandchildren, Justin Brown, Connor Brown, Brandi Smith and Kristen Smith; and a wonderful caregiver and great friend to the family, Cathy Whitt of Amigo, who cared for her for the last four and a half years.

Service will be 1 p.m. today at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Chapel of Faith, Beckley, with the Rev. Gilbert Dodson officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Cracker Vines, Brandon Sargent, Ralph Sargent, Cecil Sargent, Michael Sargent and Kenney Smith.

Friends may gather with the family noon until time of service today at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Chapel of Faith.

Special thanks to the nursing staff of Heartland of Beckley and the fourth-floor nursing staff at Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital who provided excellent care to her during the last month of her life here, and to Dr. Thomas and Dr. Patel.

Anna Pauline Campbell

Anna Pauline Campbell, 79, of Beckley, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2005. She was the daughter of the late E. Hiram and Mandy Rinehart.

Mrs. Campbell graduated from Mullens High School in 1944. She was a dedicated and loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Anna was a member of Mabscott Christian Baptist Church where she served as a member of the Ladies Prayer Group, an Awanas helper and a choir member.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Alvie Campbell Jr.; five brothers, Edward, Vescar, Johnny, and Edgar Rinehart and Ranzie Sizemore; and seven sisters, Cora, Pearl, and Nettie Whitt, Laura McComas, Mary Rinehart, Virgie Rinehart and Nina Martin.

Those left to cherish her loving memory include four daughters, Joan McKenna and husband, Jim, of Plantation, Fla., Janet Bailey of Malden, Debra Radford and husband, Gregory, of Beckley and Alice Campbell of Pompano Beach, Fla.; a son, Gregory Campbell and his wife, LeeAnn, of Beckley; three sisters, Minnie Baker, Aimee Rinehart and Pansy Mason; several grandchildren, Lisa DePauw, G.W. DePauw III, Rebecca Bailey, Curtis, Michael, Amanda and Cody Campbell, Brooke and Brandon Radford; and great-grandchildren, Coral Ann DePauw and Anna Makenzie Wright.

Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley, with Pastor Doug Holley officiating, assisted by Pastor Harmon Davis.

Friends may call two hours before service Saturday at the funeral home.

Entombment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.

Braylen Lance Coalson

Braylen Lance Coalson, son of Latisha Walker and Brent Coalson, became Jesus’ Angel on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2005.

He was preceded in death by three great-grandfathers, Boyd Minnix, Clarence E. Farmer and Hollie Blankenship.

Those left to cherish his memory are his parents; great-grandparents, Phyllis Minnix of Gauley Bridge, Marie Farmer of Midway, Pearlie Blankenship of Chimney Corner, Charles Coalson and wife, Francis, of Beckley and William Hensley and wife, Dreama, of Crab Orchard; his grandparents, Clarence W. Farmer and his wife, Margaret, of Midway and Kenneth Coalson and his wife, Susan, of Crab Orchard; several aunts, Haley Walker of Midway, Brandee Coalson of Crab Orchard, Donna Smith and her husband, David, of Bradley and Shay Wilkerson and husband, Shorty, of Maryland; and an uncle, Jessie Walker and wife, Deanna, of Galax, Va.

Special thanks from Brent Coalson and Latisha Walker to Melissa and Arron Hensley and Donna and John Shiflet.

Graveside service will be 1 p.m. today at Phillips Family cemetery, Cool Ridge, with Preacher Damon Davis officiating.

Troy Clinton Hagy

Troy Clinton Hagy, 71, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2005, at Wake Forest Baptist Memorial Hospital in Winston-Salem, N.C., after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born June 4, 1934, he was one of twin boys born to Walter C. and Mae Lowe Hagy.

Loved and adored by all who knew him, he was a resident of Tazewell, Va., where he resided with his wife of 47 years, Pearl Mae Sarver Hagy. During his amazing life here on earth he served the U.S. Army and dedicated his life work to the forestry industry. He will ever be remembered by his family and friends as an avid sportsman, outdoor enthusiast, bluegrass music fan and a true inspiration to his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Troy was preceded in death by his parents, Walter C. and Mae Lowe Hagy; stepmother, Fannie Hagy; sisters, Lola Vance and Rita Hagy; and his brothers, his twin Roy, Luther and Roger Hagy, and an infant son, Greg Hagy.

He is survived by his wife, Pearl Mae Sarver Hagy; two sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth Hagy and wife, Carol, of Bland, Va., and Anthony Hagy and wife, Lisa, of Tazewell, Va.; and three daughters and sons-in-law, Pam Richardson and husband, Howard “Buddy,” of Tazewell, Robin Boothe and husband, Joe, of Tazewell and Sherry Stone of Tazewell.

Troy has the 10 best grandchildren in his eyes that he loved and adored as well as they do him, Amy and husband, Colin Boley, Leisa and husband, Anthony Richmond, Clinton Hagy and fiancée, Jenny Lambert, Kristin Richardson, Cody Gillespie, Courtnie and Caitlin Hagy, Samantha and Josh Boothe, and Ashley Stone.

There are four very special great-grandchildren, Noah Richardson-Boley, Casidhe Boley, Christian Richmond and Gracie Richmond; and honorary grandchildren that he loved as much as his own, Mandy, Ira and Lakey Felty, and Ronnie and Amanda Massie.

Also three brothers, Rob Hagy and wife, Fern, of Doran, Va., Raymond Hagy and wife, Mary Ann, of Bastian, Va., and Junior Hagy of Rocky Gap, Va.; and three sisters, Betty Morehead and husband, David, of Rocky Gap, Shirley Clemons and husband, Roger, of Rocky Gap and Josie Angles of Brenton.

Service will be noon today at Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel , Tazewell, with the Rev. Barry Absher officiating. Interment will follow in Bland cemetery, Bland, Va. Friends called after 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Ira Felty, Stewart Felty, Theodore Hagy, Josh Lambert, Ronnie Massie and Wesley Stone. Honorary pallbearers will be Jason Snapp, Scott Hagy and Seth Baker.

Sgt. Christopher R. Hall

Sgt. Christopher Ryan Hall, 26, formerly of Beckley, passed away Sunday, Oct. 30, 2005.

Born June 8, 1979, he was the son of Rick Hall and his wife, Kathy Cernuto-Hall, of Beckley, Melanie Bodnar of Oak Hill and Debora Sue Burgess-Benton of Conway, S.C.

He was the fiancé of Emily N. Law of Morgantown, formerly of Beckley. Chris and Emily were to be married at St. Francis deSales Catholic Church in Beckley on Jan. 14, 2006.

Christopher attended Woodrow Wilson High School and graduated from Fayetteville High School in 1998. He was an avid skier and enjoyed skiing for recreation and also worked as an instructor and with ski patrol at various resorts.

As a junior in high school, Christopher enlisted in the West Virginia Army National Guard. After high school he went on to enlist in the Army where he served in Germany and Bosnia with the 1st Infantry Division, as well as other overseas and stateside assignments. He became a combat veteran after deploying to Iraq and serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom. His current duty assignment was at Fort Knox, Ky.

For his distinguished service he earned the following awards, Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, NATO, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and Basic Marksmanship Quality Badge.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Elbert L. “John Henry” Burgess.

Other than his parents and fiancee, Chris is survived by two brothers, Austin Hall of Beckley and Cameron Hall of Oak Hill; a sister, Kevina Benton of Conway, S.C.; paternal grandparents, Richard and Betty Hall of Scott Depot; a maternal grandmother, Ersline Burgess-Riggs of Dover, Del.; three aunts, Deborah Hall Kemp and her husband, Larsa, of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., Beth Hall Chambers and her husband, Rex, of Scott Depot and Mary Ann Burgess Callahan of Beckley; two uncles, Scott Hall and his wife, Laura, of Atlanta, Ga., and Richard Burgess and his wife, Tammy, of Loris, S.C., Steve Bodnar and his wife, Melissa, of Cleveland, Ohio; and many cousins and many friends.

Chris would like to recognize friends, Chris and Kristin Stephens and their son, Christopher Tyler, of Oak Hill; David and Kim Stephens of Fayetteville; Tori Stephens Keel and her husband, Rob; Braxon and Braedon Ballard of Fayetteville; Amanda and Laura McGraw of Fayetteville; all of his special friends at Winterplace; the West Virginia police family; Dan Poitrast of Boston, Mass.; Sgt. Richard Bushing of Fort Knox and Staff Sgt. Matt Delair stationed in Germany.

Service will be 1 p.m. Sunday at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley.

Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley.

Visitation will be 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

INDIAN CREEK — Tex Hatfield, 53, departed this life Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2005, at his residence, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Micah Remle Henry

Micah Remle Henry, 2-month-old infant son of Michael Henry and Miriam Rose Henry of 350 Glendare Drive, Apt. M, Winston Salem, N.C., formerly of Beckley, died at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2005, in UNC Hospital, Chapel Hill, N.C.

Other survivors include paternal grandparents, Janice Collier of Beckley and Lawrence Anderson of Detroit, Mich.; great-grandparents, Elmer and Ethelene Henry of Beckley; maternal grandparents, Milton and Anna Smith of Brooklyn, N.Y.; foster grandparents, Barrington and Joan Samuel, and godmother, Anne Carson; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives.

Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley, with the Rev. Nathaniel Carey officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.

LEWISBURG — James W. Kenney, 85, died Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2005.

Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Calvary Baptist Church, Lewisburg. Friends may call noon until time of service Saturday at the church.

Joseph ‘Joey’ Buford Lester

OCEANA — Joseph “Joey” Buford Lester, 41, departed this life Monday, Oct. 31, 2005.

Services entrusted to Adam Toler Memorial Funeral Home, Oceana.

John E. McKinney

John E. McKinney, 82, of Egeria Road, Flat Top, died Monday, Oct. 31, 2005, at the Beckley VA Medical Center following a long illness.

Born Sept. 29, 1923, at Spring Dale, he was the son of the late James and Lizzie Meadows McKinney.

Mr. McKinney was a former coal miner and had worked most of his life as a mechanic and a heavy equipment operator.

Mr. McKinney was a charter member of Lighthouse Community Church, where he had served as a trustee. He served during World War II in the U.S. Navy.

He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Hilda McKinney; a grandson, Kenneth Joe McKinney Jr.; brothers, George Dewey, Oscar, Virgil, Willard, Hubert and Lonnie McKinney; sisters, Stella, Zella and Ethel; and a nephew, Chuck.

Survivors include children, Marlee Janabee Tanchak and husband, Arthur, of Nokesville, Va., Mickey Edward McKinney and wife, Linda, of Flat Top, Lee Roy McKinney and wife, Phyllis, of Luray, Va., Kenneth Joe McKinney and wife, Kathy, of Williamsburg, Va., Sandra Sue Rabey and husband, Peter, of Courtenay, British Columbia, Marsha Lou La Wall of Glen Burnie, Md., Dianna Yvonne Steele and husband, Roger, of Edenton, N.C., and John Andy McKinney and wife, Debbie, of Warrenton, Va.; 18 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home Shady Spring Chapel with the Rev. Arthur Dangerfield officiating. Burial will follow in Keaton Mills cemetery, Egeria.

Friends may call 10 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
