Sheralyn D. Bowles

OAK HILL — Sheralyn D. Bowles, 44, of Oak Hill, passed away Sunday, Dec. 31, 2006, at Plateau Medical Center following a long illness.

Born Sept. 7, 1962, in Beckley, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Annie Eagle Bowles.

She was a homemaker, and was a graduate of Meadow Bridge High School.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death

by brothers, Robert Bowles and Gaylen Bowles; two infant brothers, William David Bowles and James Emmett Bowles; and a half bro-ther, Ray Eagle.

Survivors include her brothers, Dennis Bowles of Danese, Gary Bowles of Beckley and Greg Bowles and wife Retha of Alexandria, Va.; sisters, Janet Bowles of Oak Hill, Glenna Bowles of Oak Hill and Judy Bowles of Oak Hill; nieces, Wretha and Amanda; and nephew, Aaron.

The family would like to thank the staff at Hilltop Health Care Center and her doctor, Dr. Hultman.

Service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel, Beckley, with the Rev. Jesse Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Stanaford cemetery.

Visitation will be 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Johnny Bryant Sr.

OCEANA — Johnny Bryant Sr., 73, departed this life Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2007.

A celebration of Johnny’s life will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Adam Toler Memorial Chapel, Oceana. The family will receive friends 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Ruby Webster Carola

RONCEVERTE — Ruby Webster Carola, 77, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2007, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center.

Earl French Dillon Sr.

GATEWOOD — Earl French Dillon Sr., 80, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2007, at Plateau Medical Center, Oak Hill, following a sudden illness.

Born Feb. 19, 1926, at Sun, he was the son of the late Clarence Dillon and Mary Nichols.

Mr. Dillon was a retired Fayette County school bus driver and a retired coal miner. He served as seaman 1st class in the Navy during World War II. He enjoyed feeding the birds and fishing.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Earnest Dillon.

Left to cherish his memories include his wife, Violet Rae Bish Dillon; a daughter, Marilyn Parrish of Gatewood; a son, Earl F. Dillon Jr. and his wife, Sharon K., of Oak Hill; five grandchildren, Ashley, Courtney, Scott, Elaine and Doc; a great-grandson, Evan; and 10 other great-grandchildren.

Service will be 2:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5, at Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home Chapel, Fayetteville, with Pastor Ron George Jr. officiating. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill. Military rites to be conducted by Oak Hill VFW Post 3110.

The family will receive friends 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the New River Humane Society, P.O. Box 955, Fayetteville, WV 25840.

Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home, Fayetteville, is in charge of arrangements.

LIVE OAK, Fla. — William A. Fitzgerald, 79, passed away in Florida.

Richard Franklin Givens

RICHWOOD — Richard Franklin Givens, 75, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Jan. 1, 2007.

Service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Simons-Coleman Funeral Home, Richwood. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Dora Johnson

MULLENSVILLE — Dora Johnson, 81, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2007, in Raleigh General Hospital following a short illness.

Calfee Funeral Servicem Pineville, is serving the Johnson family.

Michael Ray Jones

ALDERSON — Michael Ray Jones, 45, died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2007, at his home in Alderson following a sudden illness.

Ulla M. Kittle

Ulla M. Kittle died Monday, Jan. 1, 2007, in Beckley.

She was born Jan. 2, 1940, in western Pennsylvania to Ernest August and Disa Olean Stadin. She grew up there and in the Clarksburg area, where she graduated from West Milford High School. She was a 1961 graduate of Kalamazoo College (Michigan) and had been a high school English teacher at Belpre (Ohio) High School. After leaving Belpre in the 1980s, she lived first in Charleston before moving to the Beckley area, where she spent the remainder of her life. She had worked in the home health care business until her retirement.

Ulla is survived by her daughter, Amy Kittle Britton, her son, George “Pete” Kittle, and their families of Maryland, including three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Along with family, Ulla leaves behind many, many friends and acquaintances in the Belpre, Ohio, and Beckley areas.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Niles Stadin of Michigan, David Stadin of Kansas and James “Jimmy” Stadin of Clarksburg. She was also preceded in death by her son, Eric Kittle.

At her request, Ulla’s body was cremated at Melton Mortuary, Beckley. Memorial service will be planned at a later time. There will be no visitation.

Callyn B. Maynor

Callyn B. Maynor, 20, of Beckley. God called him home on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2006.

Born in Beckley on Dec. 30, 1986, he was the son of Joyce Flower Maynor of Beckley and the late Roger Maynor.

Callyn was a 2005 graduate of Wood-row Wil-son High School and was currently a student at West Virginia University.

Callyn enjoyed spending time with all his friends and driving his Mustang.

Other than his father, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Elmer Flower.

Other than his mother, survivors include his sister, Brittany Maynor of Beckley; maternal grandparent, Lee Ann Flower of Beckley; paternal grandparents, R. Dean Maynor and Peggy Maynor of Shady Spring; aunts and uncles, Gary and Cindy Flower of Liberty, S.C., Michele and William Cook of Cool Ridge and Tari Maynor of Cary, N.C.; cousins, Julia and Mark Holliday and daughters, Marley, Caroline and Juliana of Sophia, Brandon and Lisa Flower and children, Sophia and Nate, of Fairmont, Greg and Shannon Blevins and daughter, Madison, of Beckley, Matthew and Kelly Flower of Gainesville, Fla., Belinda Cook of Cool Ridge, Lynn Farley of Maple Fork Road and Pebbles Farley of Maple Fork Road; and many other relatives and special friends.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m. today at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel, Beckley, with a eulogy by family members. Burial will follow at Tom Lilly cemetery, Ghent.

Friends called 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Special friends will serve as pallbearers.

Monica Lynn McConnell

MULLENSVILLE — Monica Lynn McConnell, 33, of Mullensville, passed away Saturday, Dec. 30, 2006, at her residence following a sudden illness.

Born Aug. 23, 1973, in Raleigh County, she was the daughter

of David and Debbie Street McConnell of Mullensville.

Monica was of the Pentecostal faith. She was a 1991 graduate

of Pineville High School and a 1993 graduate of Bluefield State College with a degree in radiology technology.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Simon and Goldie Street; and her paternal grandparents, William Jackson and Dorothy Jane McConnell.

In addition to her loving parents, survivors include a sister, Rachel McConnell Bailey and her husband, Ricky, of Rolling Hills; a niece, Nicole Bailey of Rolling Hills; a nephew, Darrian Workman of Rolling Hills; her companion, Thomas Shayne Burns of Mullensville; aunts and uncles, Jack and Helen Lambert of Pineville and Dennis and Teresa McConnell of Summersville; and a special cousin, Kimberly McConnell of Summersville.

Service will be 1 p.m. today at Calfee Funeral Service Chapel, Pineville, with the Rev. Lewis Arnold officiating. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Friends may call noon until time of service today at the funeral home.

Samuel McCray

Samuel McCray, 79, of 207 9th St., Beckley, died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2007, at Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley.

Martha Moore

PINEVILLE — Martha Moore, 84, left peacefully on New Year’s Eve 2006 at Logan Park Care Center following a long illness.

Born Feb. 7, 1922, in Bradshaw, she was the daughter of the late Dan and Celia Blankenship Payne.

Mrs. Moore belonged to many clubs and organizations, including Order of the Eastern Star, Pine-ville Wo-man’s Club and Pine-ville Garden Club. She owned and operated her own beauty shop from 1956 to the early 1970s when she decided to retire from the salon and embark on a teaching career. She taught cosmetology for many years at the Wyoming County Vocational-Technical Center where she taught until her retirement. She spent the last five years of her life at Logan Park Care Center where she had many friends, from the residents to the staff.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Moore; and several brothers and sisters.

Mr. and Mrs. Moore were the proud parents of two children, a daughter, Theresa A. Fulton of Austin, Texas, and a son, Randy L. Moore of Dallas, Texas.

She is also survived by two grandchildren, Philip Davis of Austin and Leigh Bruce of Dallas; and two great-grandchildren, Ty and Alec Davis of Austin.

She was loved by all who knew her. She loved the Lord and led a Christian life. While we will miss her greatly, we know she is now with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. A mother’s love is like the love of Christ; it is patient, kind and true. We praise God and pray, thanking him so much for you. Her children rise up and call her blessed.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5, at Pineville Southern Baptist Church with the Rev. Tommy Knotts officiating. Entombment will follow in Palm Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Matheny.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Friends may call 1 p.m. until time of service Friday at the church.
