William ‘Frank’ Mitchell

RAINELLE — William Franklin “Frank” Mitchell, 89, passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2006, in the Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, Fairlea, following a short illness.

Ruth McKay Taylor Mullins

TERRY — Ruth McKay Taylor Mullins, 79, departed for her heavenly home on Monday, May 1, 2006, at Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley.

Born April 30, 1927, at Cunard, she was the daughter of the late William Franklin and Lula Pennington Taylor.

Mrs. Mullins was a former employee for the Raleigh County Board of Education in the transportation department and a homemaker.

She was a member of the Terry Independent Christian Church at Terry.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Eugene Mullins, on Jan. 9, 2004.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family having been preceded in death by two brothers, Henry and Billy Taylor, and four sisters, Nellie Stotts, Lucille Buckland, Lena Higgins and Pearl Arnold.

Those left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Donald Mullins of Terry Beach and David Mullins and wife, Cara, of Oak Hill; two daughters, Bonnie Hudson and husband, Freddie, and Brenda Christy, who was also her caregiver, all of Terry Beach; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Graveside rites and committal service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Oak Hill, with the Rev. Gene Hall officiating. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Oak Hill.

There will be no visitation.

John Robert Parrish

SCARBRO — John Robert Parrish, 75, died Wednesday, May 3, 2006, at Hilltop Healthcare Center, Hilltop, following a short illness.

Born Feb. 23, 1931, at Oak Hill, he was the son of the late Ernest Parrish Sr. and Pansy Terry Parrish.

John was retired from Economy Wholesale, Oak Hill, a former employee of Long Airdox and the New River Company Store and a board member of the White Oak PSD for over 20 years.

He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene, Oak Hill, where he was on the church board. He was a graduate of Oak Hill High School Class of 1948, an avid gardener and loved old cars. He was a very active worker with the Fayette Plateau Ministerial Food Pantry.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Ernest Parrish Jr., and two infant sisters.

Survivors include his wife of 54 1/2 years, Martha “Mickey” Gavin Parrish; a daughter, Harriet Ann Woodson and husband, Michael, of Oak Hill; a brother, David Parrish and wife, Tennis, of Oak Hill; two grandsons, Ben Woodson and Noah Woodson; a special friend, Kari Lea Davis of Oak Hill; and by several nieces and nephews.

Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Church of the Nazarene of Oak Hill with Pastor Jerry Bush officiating. Burial will follow in High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill.

Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Oak Hill Church of the Nazarene, Oak Hill.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Oak Hill Church of the Nazarene, P.O. Box 22, Oak Hill, W.Va. 25901, or the Fayette Plateau Ministerial Food Pantry, Att: Wanda Martin, 250 Main St. E., Oak Hill, W.Va. 25901.

Jimmy W. Warrick Jr.

OAK HILL — Jimmy W. Warrick Jr., 48, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2006, at Plateau Medical Center.

Born Oct. 21, 1957, at Oak Hill, he was the son of the late James W. Warrick and Peggy and Andrew “Trap” Warrick of Oak Hill.

Jimmy was a U.S. Marine veteran, a member of First Assembly of God Church on East Main Street and formerly worked for C. Adam Toney Tire Co.

Jimmy was proud to have coached the third- and fourth-grade JAMBL team, the Dragons, for many years before becoming disabled.

Other survivors include his wife of 20 years, Mary Warrick; three sons, Jimmy Soto of North Carolina, Andrew Warrick of Oak Hill and Randy Warrick of Oak Hill; a daughter, Jennifer Cantley and husband, Bruce, of Sanger; three grandsons Chase Kincaid of Ansted, Bruce Cantley of Sanger and Devon Cantley of Sanger; an aunt, Betty Warrick Hickman of Oak Hill; an uncle, David Kees and wife, Carole, of Oak Hill; and cousins, Elaine Ritchie and Dale Warrick of Oak Hill, and Gary Warrick and wife, Joanne, of Mount Hope.

Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at High Lawn Funeral Home Chapel, Oak Hill, with the Rev. Joe Hoggard officiating. Burial will follow in High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill. Military rites will be conducted by Oak Hill VFW Post No. 3110.

The family will receive friends noon until time of service Thursday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Soto, Andrew Warrick, John Wroten, Steve Possie, Bobby Hudson and Justin Keffer.

Noah Ellison

PINEVILLE — Noah Ellison, 89, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, Nov. 6, 2005, following a long illness.

Born Dec. 18, 1915, at Keyrock, he was the son of the late William Madison and Rosa Belle Pendry Ellison.

Mr. Ellison was a member of Rockcastle Baptist Church. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 138, Pineville, and was a lifetime member of the NRA.

Noah was a hard-working man and well known for his knowledge of firearms. His passion for hunting and the environment were major concerns in life.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Sylvia Elizabeth Laxton Ellison; a son, Elmer Ellison; his second wife, Sadie McComas Ellison; four sisters, Paulene Ellison, Mary E. Burchett, Lorean Shumate and Lunda Marie Day; and four brothers, Vacie Arthur Ellison, Everett Ellison, Luther Ellison and Alda Ellison.

Survivors include a son, Vern Ellison and his wife, Henrietta, of Pineville; a daughter-in-law, Carolyn Sue Ellison of Pineville; seven grandchildren, Cynthia Crabtree of Columbus, Ohio, Micki Sue Cox of Mullens, Lorie Marie Anderson of Tacoma, Wash., Laverne Ellison of Lexington, N.C., William Ellison of High Point, N.C., James Ellison of Monticello, Fla., and Anthony Ellison of Waitsville; 11 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; eight stepchildren; two brothers, Denver Ellison of Lakeside, Calif., and Alva Ellison of Lynco; and a sister, Aldeen Browning of Pineville.

Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Rockcastle Baptist Church with the Rev. Doc Adkins officiating. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny.

Pallbearers will be members of Masonic Lodge No. 138, Pineville.

Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at Calfee Funeral Service in Pineville. Masonic rites will be conducted by Lodge No. 138.

Curtis Greenlee, 60, of Beckley, died Sunday, Nov. 6, 2005, at Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital, Beckley.

John Henry Harper

MINDEN — John Henry Harper, 95, died 7:15 p.m., Friday, Nov. 4, 2005, at Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital following a short illness.

Born Jan. 16, 1910, at Cherokee, Ala., he was the son of the late Will Harper and Louvenia Williams Harper.

Mr. Harper was a retired coal miner and a member of the New Hope Baptist Church at Whipple.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Waters Harper.

Survivors include three sons, William E. Harper of Brooklyn, N.Y., Donald L. Harper of Ft. Washington, Md., and Mi-cheal L. Harper of Chicago, Ill.; three brothers, Leon Harper of Minden, Andrew Harper of Jasper, Ala., and W.D. Harper of Akron, Ohio; four sisters, Mabel Bush of Akron, Ohio, Frankie Mae Underwood of Jasper, Ala., Carrie Shaw of Jasper, Ala., and Sarah Hagler of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the New Hope Baptist Church of Whipple with the Rev. Fred A. Davenport officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.

Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

Zina Morton James of Beckley died Friday, Nov. 4, 2005, at home.

Boyd G. Lilly Jr.

HIX — Boyd G. Lilly Jr., 66, died Sunday, Nov. 6, 2005, at 12:40 a.m. at the Charleston Area Medical Center General Division following a long illness.

Born July 27, 1939, at Shady Spring, he was the son of the late Boyd G. and Pearl Moye Lilly Sr.

Mr. Lilly had been a resident of Summers County since 1977. He was retired from the WV Parkways Authority and served as president of the AFSCME Local 77. He was a Baptist, a U.S. Army veteran and was a great husband, father and grandfather. He was devoted entirely to his family.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Vivian Lilly; two sons, Kenneth Lilly and wife, Christa, of Charleston, Ronald Lilly and wife, Ann Marie, of Canvas; a daughter, Lisa Blankenship of Talcott; five grandchildren, Seth, Taylor, Morgan, Kati and Chloe; three sisters, Margaret Lilly of Hix, Sarah Harvey of Beaver and Yvonne Washburn of Oak Hill; and three brothers, Ordie Vest of Beckley, Ray Vest of Cleveland, Ohio, and William Lilly of White Oak.

Service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Melvin Wills officiating. Burial will follow in the Alderson cemetery, Hix.

Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral parlors.

FENWICK — Nicholas Daniel Owens, seven-week-old infant son of Daniel and Patricia Lynn Varnadore Owens of Fenwick, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2005.
