Grace L. Forrester

Grace L. Forrester, 90, formerly of Cambridge, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on Monday morning, Nov. 7, 2005, in Columbus, Ohio.

She was born Aug. 5, 1915, in Sparta, Tenn.

Mrs. Forrester was preceded in death by her father and mother, John and Mary Coots; five brothers, James, Vernon, Raymond, Herman and Lawrence Coots; a sister, Bessie Meadows; two daughters, Bessie Garbelman and Brenda Kay Posterick; and a son, Jerry Helton.

She is survived by six sons, John Helton and his wife, Sue, of Lombard, Ill., Joe Helton of Knoxville, Tenn., Jimmy Helton and his wife, Joyce, of Cleveland, Ohio, Larry Helton and his wife, Carol, of Boling Brook, Ill., Ray Helton and his wife, Jane, of Arlington, Va., and Jack Helton and his wife, Ginny, of Canal Winchester; a sister, Mildred Dillon of Dayton, Ohio; and many grandchildren; great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Friends and relatives may call 9 to 11 a.m. today at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley, with service to follow.

Entombment will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum of Peace, Beckley.

Blue Ridge Funeral Home, 5251 Robert C. Byrd Drive, Beckley, is serving the family.

Mary F. Hanna

SPRING CREEK STATION — Mary F. Hanna, 96, of Spring Creek Station, passed away Monday, Nov. 7, 2005.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Frankford cemetery. Friends may call 7 to 9 p.m. today at Morgan Funeral Home, Lewisburg.

Ronald Vance Jones

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS — Ronald Vance Jones, 56, passed away Friday, Nov. 4, 2005.

Service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Morgan Funeral Home, Lewisburg. Friends may call noon until time of service Thursday at the funeral home.

Joseph ‘Joey’ Buford Lester

OCEANA — Joseph “Joey” Buford Lester, formerly of Baisden, went home to be with the Lord at the age of 41 years, 11 months and two days on Oct. 31, 2005.

Born Nov. 29, 1963, at Iaeger, he was the son of the late Buford and Hazel Lester.

Joey enjoyed woodworking, making swings and especially bird houses. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and will be dearly missed.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Rosemary “Teresa” Blankenship.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 14 years, Angela “Angie” Lester; three sons, Rodney Joe Lester of Bartley, Joseph Aaron Lester of Oceana and Jeremy Ryan Lester of Oceana; three daughters, Jessica Renea Lester of Bradley, Tiffany Michelle Lester of Oceana and Brittany Nicole Lester of Oceana; two granddaughters, Kelsey Lester of Bartley and Tapanga Lester of Bartley; his stepmother, Lana E. Lester of Baisden; two brothers, Marvin Joe Lester and his wife, Natasha, of Baisden and James F. Lester of Oceana; two sisters, Linda Cline and her husband, Scotty, of Baisden and Zelda Walls of Reedy Creek; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

There will be no visitation.

In keeping with Joey’s wishes, the body was cremated.

Memorial service will be 3 p.m. today at Full Gospel Church, Baisden, with the Rev. Jonas Trent and the Rev. Charles Blankenship officiating.

Services entrusted to Adam Toler Memorial Funeral Home, Oceana.

Annabelle Lanham O’Dell

LEIVASY — Annabelle Lanham O’Dell, 88, passed away early Monday morning, Nov. 7, 2005, at Summersville Memorial Hospital Extended Care Facility following a long illness.

Born Oct. 29, 1917, at Leivasy, she was a daughter of the late Birl and Lottie O’Dell Lanham.

Mrs. O’Dell was a member of Elizabeth Chapel United Methodist Church of Leivasy, where she was a Sunday school teacher. She was a retired merchant, having owned and operated O’Dell’s Grocery Store with her late husband, Aldean O’Dell. She was also a homemaker.

She is survived by three sons, William Birl O’Dell of Leivasy, Roy C. O’Dell of Leivasy and David D. O’Dell of Leivasy; and six grandchildren.

Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Wallace & Wallace Chapel, Rainelle, with the Rev. Clyde Gum officiating. Burial will follow in Wallace Memorial cemetery, Clintonville.

Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Arrangements entrusted to Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home, Rainelle.

Hattie Suzanne Robinson

Hattie Suzanne Lester Robinson, 59, of Cherrywood Villa, Beaver, died Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2005, following a long illness.

Steven Breck Amick

OAK GROVE, Va. — Steven Breck Amick, 53, of Oak Grove, died Thursday, Feb. 2, 2006, at his home following a long, courageous battle with cancer.

Born Sept. 11, 1952, at Oakland, Calif., he was the son of Carl and Loretta Thurmon Amick of Nimitz.

Upon graduation from West Virginia Institute of Technology in 1974, Mr. Amick served at the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Dahlgren, Va., for 31 years as an electrical engineer. He was an avid fisherman and an active member of the Dahlgren Yacht Club.

Besides his parents, he is survived by two brothers, Richard Amick of King George, Va., and Gene Amick and his wife, Janet, of Nimitz; a sister, Ronda Bachar and her husband, Doug, of Morgantown; four nieces, Sarah Amick, Rachel Amick, Amanda Bachar and Cheryl Bachar; and two nephews, Jacob Amick and Jared Amick.

Service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Bluestone Baptist Church, Jumping Branch, with Pastor Bill Fox officiating.

Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. today at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors, Hinton.

Pallbearers are Tim Fouse, Howard Vest, Richard Amick, Eugene Amick, Vincent Deeds, and Brett Whitten.

In lieu of flowers, donations are requested for the Mary Washington Home Health and Hospice, 5012 Southpoint Parkway, Fredericksburg, VA 22407.

Ida Mae Bower, 35, of Hilldale went to be with the Lord at 11:10 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006, at the Summers County Rehabilitation Center at Hilldale following a long illness.

Glen Beheler, 60, of Hinton, died 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 5, 2006, at his home following a long illness.

Jo Ann Brown

Mrs. Jo Ann Brown, 49, of 130 Beckwood Drive, Beckley, formerly of Charleston, died Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006, after a short illness.

She was born Sept. 13, 1956, in Charleston, the daughter of Joey Chapel, deceased, and Pat Lopez of Florida.

She worked at Beckley Newspapers in the mail room.

She was preceded in death by daughter Carman J. Robinson; three aunts, Alma Fralin, Shirley and Betty Chapel.

She is survived by her spouse, Timothy Brown; special aunt Carol Brown of Beckley; grandson Taj Robinson of Beckley; brother Joey Chapel of Charleston; niece Chasity Chapel of Charleston; cousins Anita Brown and Davonté Hill of Beckley and Michael Brown of Beckley; sister-in-law Shirley Armstead (“Red”) of Rand; uncle James Brown of Greensboro, N.C.; special friends Emily Cordial, Mergie Bradley and Eleanor Webster, all of Beckley; the McClure and Fazio family and members of Central Printing Co.

Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Ritchie and Johnson Funeral Parlor Chapel, with Minister Judy Gaines officiating.

Friends may call one half hour before service at the funeral parlor.

Tim Hustion Brown

Tim Hustion Brown, 55, of Rupert, W.Va., beloved husband and father, passed away at home Feb. 4, 2006, with his family at his side after a courageous battle with kidney cancer.

Tim was born in Blue Sulphur Springs, W.Va., and was a 1968 graduate of Smoot High School. He was a 1972 graduate of Concord College, obtaining his degree in Education while playing basketball for the Mountain Lions. After 33 years of teaching science, he retired from Meadow Bridge High School when his illness left him unable to teach.

Tim was a member of the Big Clear Creek Baptist Church.

Tim was very active in hunting and fishing, and very involved in his farm at Rupert raising cattle, cutting timber and spending time outdoors prior to his illness. Tim spent countless hours exploring creeks, fields and forests with his grandchildren. He was interested in forestry, land surveying and land management. Tim packed a lot of energy and enthusiasm into his short life.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Vira Belle Brown.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Mary Hamrick Brown; and his three sons and their wives, Michael and Shawna Brown of Rainelle, W.Va., Aaron and Harmony Brown of New Albany, Ind., and David and Kandis Brown of Rainelle, W.Va. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Michael’s children, Trevor, Isaac and Mason Brown of Rainelle, W.Va.; David’s children, Noah and Ethan Brown of Rainelle; and Aaron’s child, Tyler, of New Albany, Ind. Tim is also survived by his father, Charles Lee Brown of Rainelle, W.Va.; his sisters, Ike Bragg, Karen Bragg, Gail Rudd and Robin Rudd, all of Rainelle, W.Va.; his brothers, Charles Brown of Spring Dale and Darrel Brown of Rainelle, W.Va. Numerous nephews and nieces will also be left behind.

Services for Tim will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Smathers Funeral Home in Rainelle with the Rev. Scott Morehead officiating. His burial will follow at his family farm in Rupert.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at Smathers Funeral Home in Rainelle.

A Tim H. Brown memorial scholarship fund for Meadow Bridge High School has been established and donations are sought in lieu of flowers. Contributions can be made via City National Bank of Rupert or by mail to P.O. Box 1, Spring Dale, WV 25986.

Eugene K. Cantley

Eugene Keith “EK” Cantley of Glen Daniel died Sunday, Feb. 5, 2006, at his home following a short illness. He was 87 years of age.

Cecil Cook

ROCKVIEW — Cecil Cook, 69, of Rockview, passed away Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006, in CAMC Memorial Division.

Born Nov. 28, 1936, at Lorado, he was the son of the late Joe Lonker and Lorraine Cook Randolph.

Mr. Cook was a lifelong resident of Wyoming County and attended the Rock Castle Baptist Church. He was in the excavation business.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Kay Cook.

Survivors include his loving wife, Zettie Sansom Cook; two sons, Jerry Cook and his wife, Tammy, of Pineville, and Chris Cook and his wife, Jennifer, of Charleston; a daughter, Pam Goldman of Bosrah, Conn.; four brothers, Charley Cook and his wife Susie of Pineville, Dana Randolph and his wife Tina of Beckley, Pete Randolph of Anderson, S.C., and Oley Randolph of Mullens; six sisters, Crystalline Blaisedell and her husband Ed of Rockview, Donna Randolph of Hopewell, Va., Debbie Frazier of Sabine, Lou Sellards of Pineville, Kathy Bailey and her husband Dan of Beckley and Mary Yaskowitz and her husband Clem of Arizona; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. today at Calfee Funeral Service, Pineville, with the Rev. Doc Adkins officiating. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home today.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Cook’s name to the American Cancer Society, 301 RHL Blvd., Suite 6 & 7, Charleston, WV 25309, or the American Lung Association of West Virginia, P.O. Box 3908, Charleston, WV 25339-3908.

Calfee Funeral Service of Pineville is serving the family.
