RED STAR — Theresa Lynn Hatcher, 31, died Tuesday, April 25, 2006, at Charleston Area Medical Center, General Hospital, from injuries received in an auto accident.
Born on Aug. 26, 1974, in Beckley, she was the daughter of Gladys Mae and David Griffith of Hilltop, and the late Bruce Clayton Lucas.
She was a loving wife and mother, a true blessing to all. She was our angel, always helping others. She touched the lives of so many in the short time she was here. She was a senior at Mountain State University pursuing a degree in business.
Survivors include her husband, Daniel L. Hatcher; a son, Daniel Clayton at home; daughter, Breanna Marie Hatcher at home; brother, Steven Lucas of Maple Fork; two sisters, Melissa Miklos of Red Star and Rebecca Reed of Sophia; maternal grandfather, Clayton Webb of Red Star, as well as many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Service will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Rose and Quesenberry Shady Spring Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Tyree officiating, with friends and family as pallbearers. Burial will follow in Birchfield cemetery, Ellison Ridge.

MOUNT LOOKOUT — Ruth Elizabeth Wills Kincaid, 68, of Mount Lookout, Nicholas County, died Wednesday, April 26, 2006, at Summersville Memorial Hospital after a two-and-a-half-year battle with cancer.
Born on Dec. 4, 1937, at Lookout, Fayette County, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Ida Wood Wills. An infant brother, a brother, Robert Wills, and a sister, Erma Ramsey, also preceded her in death.
She was a homemaker and attended Mount Pleasant Baptist Church at Mount Lookout.
Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Fredrick P. Kincaid; two daughters and their husbands, Angela and David Butler of Mount Lookout and Pamela and Richard Campbell of Hico; two sons and their wives, Fredrick Jr. and Judy Kincaid of Summersville and Larry and Edith Kincaid of Strasburg, Va.; six grandchildren, Jeremy Butler, Brandi Hicks, Fredrick Kincaid III, Courtney Kincaid, Jason Campbell and Kristin Campbell; a sister, Wanda Walker of Pearland, Texas; and a brother, George Wills of Michigan, all of whom will miss her very much.
Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, Mount Lookout, with the Rev. Mark Secrist and the Rev. Phillip Lilly officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

ROANOKE, Va. — Joan Ellen Kral, 50, died Tuesday, April 25, 2006.
Born July 18, 1955, in Moline, Ill., she was the daughter of Jeanette and the late Jim Swanson.
She graduated from WVU with a B.A. in education and a Master’s in communications. She taught school for 10 years.
Surviving are her daughter, Lisa Kral; grandson, Dylan Lee; her mother, Jeanette Swanson; brothers and their families, Jim Swanson, Marc Swanson and Bruce Swanson; and her sister and family, Kris Foster.
She will be remembered for her sensitivity, spirituality and kindness to everyone.
Memorial service will be noon Saturday at Oakey’s South Chapel, Roanoke. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Memorials may be made to the Roanoke City Rescue Mission, 402 4th St., S.E., Roanoke, VA 24013-1404.

CARLISLE — Maggie Berthal Shields Pennock, 99, of Carlisle, died Wednesday, April 26, 2006, at Hidden Valley Healthcare Center in Oak Hill.
Born Dec. 18, 1906, at Carlisle, she was the daughter of the late Wallace Shields and Rosie Toney Shields Bruno and stepdaughter of the late Frank Bruno.
Mrs. Pennock was a homemaker. She was a member of Scarbro Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Etheal Emmett Pennock; a son, Clarence Raymond Pennock; two brothers, Alva Shields and Leo Shields; and two half sisters, Ruby Bruno Dooley and Gladys Bruno Cody.
Survivors include three sons, Emmett Franklin Pennock and wife, Loretta, of Oak Hill, Alva Marion Pennock and wife, Patricia, of Parkersburg and Richard Leon Pennock of Dale City, Va.; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Lucy Alvera Simmons
Lucy Alvera Simmons, of Glen White, was born Nov. 18, 1921, in Hot Coal. After a long illness, our Lord came early in the morning on Monday, April 24, 2006, to take Lucy home.
She was the daughter of the late Martha Jane Townes (Burrell) and James Burrell, and her stepfather, Walter Townes. She was a member of Second Baptist Church on F Street in Beckley, under the leadership of the Rev. J.W. Gowens.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Edward Simmons; and two daughters, Delores Ward and Bernice Collier.
Survivors include two sisters, Maryetter Turner of Bronx, N.Y., and Wildreth Townes of Union Dale, N.Y.; and a brother, Vercell Townes of Glen White.
Service will be noon Saturday at Durgan Funeral Chapel, Beckley, with the Rev. Andrew Durgan Sr. and the Rev. Onnie Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Beckley.

Betty Jo Holley Skeens, 59, of Sweeneysburg Road, died Wednesday, April 26, 2006, at her home following chronic lung disease.
Born Aug. 27, 1946, at Horse Creek, she was a daughter of the late Junior and Dessie Mae Wriston Holley.
Mrs. Skeens was a homemaker. She was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronald and Gary Holley.

James G. ‘Booker’ Stoots Sr.
James G. “Booker” Stoots Sr., 65, of Eccles, died Wednesday, April 26, 2006, following a short illness.
Born May 13, 1940, at Eccles, he was the son of the late Grady W. Stoots and Mae Keith Stoots.
Mr. Stoots served in the U.S. Army and worked many years as a heavy equipment operator. He was of the Christian faith.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard L. and Carlie Stoots; sister, Joann Jennings; and brother-in-law, Isaac Jennings.
Those left to cherish his memory are his three sons, James G. “Jimmie” Stoots Jr. and companion, Terri Pittman, of Eccles, Ronnie Stoots and wife, Kathy, of Westport, Mass., and Shane Stoots of Eccles; his former wife, Sharon “Tootie” Roberts of Beckley; four grandchildren, Ryan and Megan Stoots of Westport, Cody and Aaron Stoots of Eccles, and Brittani Pittman of Eccles; brother, Phillip David Stoots and wife, Patsy, of Eccles, Donald Ray Stoots and wife, Carrie, of Eccles, Ronnie Stoots and wife, Margaret, of Harper Heights; sisters, Connie Mann and husband, Kenneth, of Lenoir, N.C., and Patricia Coleman and husband, Dave, of Mount Hope; many nieces and nephews; and friends who will miss him.

Lawrence Stoots
Lawrence Herbert Stoots, 87, of Eccles died Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at his home following a long illness.
Born March 11, 1919, in Eccles, he was the son of the late Charley and Delethia Witcher Stoots.
Lawrence was well known in Raleigh County. He worked in the coal mines at Eccles for many years and he was also worked as an emergency medical technician. However, he was most proud of his work with the Department of Natural Resources as a fire watcher. He was a member of the UMWA and he was a faithful attendee of Eccles Church of God.
He was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters; he was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Dixie Verna Bragg Stoots; a daughter, Loretta Justice of Ashland, Ky.; two sons, Warren Stoots of Harper and John Stoots of Eccles; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a host nephews, nieces and friends.
Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, April 29, at Melton Mortuary Chapel, Beckley, with the Rev. George Bostic and the Rev. Kenneth Ayers officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley.
Friends may call 11 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
