David A. Wright

David A. Wright, 67, of Beckley, passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2006, in a Charleston hospital after complications from surgery.

Born Oct. 17, 1938, in Beckley, he was the son of the late Clarence B. and Brook A. Short Wright.

Mr. Wright retired from Consol Roland Mines, District 17, Local 1330, in 1992. He was of the Presbyterian faith and attended Clear Creek Presbyterian Church. Mr. Wright loved watching his grandsons play ball and attended most games. He was a devoted WVU sports fan.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Mickey and David Wright; a brother, Blaine Wright; and a sister, Louise Blankenship.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 49 years, Janet Fowler Wright; a beloved son, Mark Wright and his wife, Angie, of Beckley; three loved and cherished grandchildren, Chad Wright of Charleston, Josh Wright of Beckley and Patrick Wright of Beckley; a brother, James Wright and his wife, Ruth, of Charleston; a special niece, Ann Stetler; and a special friend, Helen Wright Hudson.

Service will be 1 p.m. Sunday, April 30, at Blue Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, Beckley, with the Rev. David Pettry and the Rev. Jerry Lawrence officiating.

Friends may gather with the family 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the the funeral home.

Burial will follow in Wright Family cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews.

Blue Ridge Funeral Home, 5251 Robert C. Byrd Drive, Beckley, is serving the Wright family.

Anna Lee McClintic Yeager

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS — Anna Lee McClintic Yeager, 85, of White Sulphur Springs, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 26, 2006.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Alvon United Methodist Church. Visitation with the family will be 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the church.

Russell ‘Rusty’ W. Snyder

Russell “Rusty” Wayne Snyder of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, formerly of Maxwell Hill, passed away at his home in Myrtle Beach on Friday, April 22, 2006 of natural causes. He was 40 years of age.

Born on October 28, 1965 in Beckley, he was the son of Ellen Hodges Thompson of Beckley and the late James Randall (Randy) Snyder.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Randall Snyder, his grandparents, Charlie and Hazel Hodges and Ferrell and Pauline Snyder, and a stepbrother, Kevin Thompson.

Rusty was a 1983 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in Beckley and he attended West Virginia University. He was a graduate of National Institute of Technology at Cross Lanes. He had lived in Myrtle Beach for the past ten years, where he was vice president of “America at a Glance,” a computer networking firm.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his stepfather, Charles Thompson of Beckley; a brother, Dr. Richard Snyder of Myrtle Beach; a stepsister, Helen Canterbury and her husband Tom of Salem, Va.; an aunt, Drema Bias Evans and her husband Sam, and his uncle Eddie Hodges and wife Debbie, all of Beckley.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Melton Mortuary Chapel at 1200 Harper Road, Beckley, WV, with Mr. Kenneth Overdorf officiating. Burial will follow in the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today, and one hour prior to the services on Tuesday.

Pallbearers will be Curtis and Brad Bias, Mikey Dillon, Dennis Voiers, Eddie Williams and Al Jones.

Roger Clayton Stover

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Roger Clayton Stover, 70, passed away Sunday, April 23, 2006.

Blue Ridge Funeral Home, 5251 Robert C. Byrd Drive, Beckley, is in charge of the arrangements.

Colleen B. Stewart

Colleen B. Stewart, 85, formerly of McGraws, passed away Sunday, Nov. 6, 2005.

She was born Dec. 27, 1919, at Keyrock, the daughter of the late Lacy Harper Brown and the late Minnie Worn Hill Brown.

Colleen loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and shopping, and keeping up with Wyoming East sports.

She was a Christian.

Other than her parents, Colleen was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Stewart; three brothers, Basil Brown, Claire Brown and Donald Brown; three sisters, Norma Dickson, Gwenith Tabor, and Phyllis Kelly; and

a granddaughter, Lori Stewart.

Those left to cherish her memory are her loving daughter, Brenda Daniel and husband, Terry, of Fairdale; two sons, Wendell Stewart and wife, Marilyn, of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Timothy Stewart of Beckley; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Elite Home Health Care, Shashikant Bhavsar, M.D., D. Patnaik, Surgeon, Mustafa Rahim, M.D., Yolanda Santos, M.D., Heartland of Beckley and SunBridge Pine Lodge, Beckley.

Service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Blue Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, 5251 Robert C. Byrd Drive, Beckley, with the Rev. Gordon Ross and the Rev. Juddy Hurst officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.

Friends may gather with the family 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Kathleen Thompson

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. — Kathleen M. Thompson, 85, died Sunday, Nov. 6, 2005 at her home. She was the wife of the late Charlie H. Thompson of Crab Orchard. Mrs. Thompson loved flowers, music, her family and being a homemaker. She had a strong Christian faith that was paramount in her everyday life.

Mrs. Thompson was born March 5, 1920, in Ury to the late Rose Quintier Tassitino and John Tassitino.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ross H. and Mary Jo Thompson of Beckley; her daughter and son-in-law, Rebekah K. and Carlton Spicer of Fredericksburg; four grandchildren, Ross H. Thompson II of Beckley, Johna Rutledge and husband, Judd, Grace Spicer and Chip Spicer, all of Fredericksburg; four great-grandchildren, Jordyn, Judson and Jaren Rutledge and Brooks Spicer of Fredericksburg.

Additional survivors include three sisters, Helen Dulaney of Beckley, Velma Felt and her husband, George, of Morovia, Md., and Shelby Toney and her husband, Keith, of Sterling, Va.; and two brothers, Fred Tassitino and his wife, Janice, of Daniels and Sam Tassitino and his wife, Judy, of Dale City, Va.

She was preceded in death by a brother, John Tassitino, and a sister, Rosalie Hajash.

The family will receive friends 4 to 6 p.m. today at Found and Sons Funeral Chapels-Cremation Service, Southpoint Parkway and Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley. Entombment will follow.

Expressions of sympathy may be made in her name to the Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders, 70 E. Lake St., Chicago, IL 60601.

Launa F. Ballengee

PERKASIE, Pa. — Launa F. Ballengee, 94, a native of Alderson, died Sunday, Nov. 6, 2005.

Service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors, Hinton. Friends may call 1 p.m. until time of service Friday at the funeral parlors.

In lieu of flowers, donations of sympathy may be made to the Bethel Baptist Christian Education Trust Fund, 754 E. Rockhill Road, Sellersville, PA 18960, or Grandview Hospice, 700 Lawn Ave., Sellersville, PA 18960.

Sue Pauline Casdorph

LEWISBURG — Sue Pauline Casdorph, 98, died Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2005, at Greenbrier Manor in Fairlea.

She was born March 2, 1907, at Alderson; she was the daughter of the late Herbert E. and Leola Bailey Yates.

She was educated in Alderson public schools, attended Alderson Academy and Junior College and taught for one year in the school system of Greenbrier County.

In 1928, she met and married the love of her life, Marshall M. Casdorph, and for more than 65 years her vocation became caring for Marshall, who preceded her in death.

She and Marshall made their home in Ronceverte, much of the time on the Greenbrier River, until the flood of 1985 when they moved to Frankford. In 1988, Pauline moved to the Seasons in Lewisburg.

She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Ronceverte, and served for 44 years as choir director. She was a member of PEO, the Frankford CEOS, Ronceverte Garden Club and Ronceverte Mutual Improvement Club.

She is survived by a nephew, James M. Gilreath, and his wife, Jean, of Pearisburg, Va.; a great-niece, Marsha G. Ferris and husband, Steve, of Bluefield; two cousins whom she considered a niece and nephew, Patricia Sue Symons and her husband, William, of Hilton Head, S.C., and Edward M. Yates of Hinton; and a cousin, Leonard A. Yates and his wife, Chris, of Richmond, Va. Although she had no children, she is also survived by a devoted host of women and men who loved her as their second mother. She was an elegant lady and caring person.

Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies. The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her. Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. (Prov. 31:11-12A, 28-29)

The family will receive friends 3 to 5 p.m. Friday at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home, Lewisburg. A service of Witness to the Resurrection will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity United Methodist Church, Ronceverte, with Mike Estep, M.Div., officiating. Interment will follow at Riverview cemetery, Ronceverte.

Her family would like to thank her caregivers at the Seasons and Greenbrier Manor. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Crippled Children’s Hospitals, Beni Kedem Shrine Center, P.O. Box 2589, Charleston, WV 25329.

LEWISBURG — Ina Mae Church, 81, formerly of Lewisburg, passed away Monday, Nov. 8, 2005.

Lowell E. Cogar Sr.

SCARBRO — Lowell E. Cogar Sr., 79, died Monday, Nov. 7, 2005, at Ansted Center.

Born March 14, 1926, at Kingston, he was the son of the late Loren and Pearl Wriston Cogar.

Mr. Cogar was a member and deacon of Fellowship Memorial Baptist Church, Oak Hill. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America and a World War II U.S. Army veteran.

His wife, Glema Jean Lafferty Cogar, grandson, Kevin A. Cogar Jr., and sisters, Ruth and Arvada, Cogar preceded him in death.

Survivors include two sons, Lowell E. Cogar Jr., and wife, Jan, of Kings Mountain, N.C., and Kevin A. Cogar Sr., and wife, Carol, of Fayetteville; two brothers, Loren B. Cogar and wife, Helen, of Davin and Leo N. “Nash” Cogar of Oak Hill; and five grandchildren, Jessica Cogar and Erin Cogar, both of Atlanta, Ga., Chad Cogar of Oak Hill, and Katelyne Cogar and Kristin Newhouse, both of Fayetteville.

He is also survived by two brothers-in-law and their wives, Beldon (Barbara) Lafferty and Ronnie (Rhonda) Lafferty; seven sisters-in-law and their husbands, Deanie (John) Wiley, Joyce (Frank) Cranfield, Patricia (Pat) Lively, Beatrice (Paul) Bosely, Rose (Kessler) Bragg, Libby (Biddle) Williams and Diane (Ron) Vento; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill.

Service will be noon Saturday at Fellowship Memorial Baptist Church, Oak Hill, with the Rev. Bill Menefee, Pastor Daniel Rice and the Rev. Robert Pauley officiating. Burial will be at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill, with military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post No. 3110, Oak Hill.

Derek Bragg, Bryan Bragg, Tim Wiley, Ronnie Lafferty, Lee Lafferty and Bruce Bosely will serve as pallbearers.

Dr. Kenneth K. Rand, 101, of Beckley, died Tuesday evening, Nov. 8, 2005, at his residence of natural causes.
