TWIN LAKES, Wis. — Rodney M. Farley, of Twin Lakes, formerly of Raleigh County, died Friday, June 23, 2006, following a short illness.
The son of the late Numa and Ethel Alderman Farley, Rodney spent his childood in Sophia and MacArthur. He moved to Chicago in 1967, retiring from MacLean Togg Industrial Co.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Diane; and a brother, Larry Farley of Beckley.
Survivors include his two loving children, Brett Farley and Karin Johnson, both of Wisconsin. He was the dear grandfather of six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a special sister-in-law, Janet Farley of Beckley; four nephews, two nieces and several cousins.
Private service will be Monday in Twin Lakes with Chaplin Jim Nelderiah officiating.

Goldie A. Folden
NIMITZ — Goldie A. Folden, 77, of Nimitz, died at 1:17 p.m. Friday, June 23, 2006, in St. Mary’s Hospital in Huntington.
Born April 13, 1929, in Pike County, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Willie and Sallie May Smith.
Goldie was formerly employed by the Wyoming County Sheltered Workshop as a cook and events coordinator. She attended Jumping Branch Gospel Tabernacle.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Folden, on Oct. 27, 1998; a son, Tony Anderson; a stepson, Eddie Folden; and two brothers, Buster and Glen Smith.
Survivors include four sons, Danny Anderson and wife, Brenda, of Durham, N.C., Bobby Anderson of Hinton, Marvin Anderson of Nimitz and Roger Anderson of Huttonsville; a stepson, David Folden and wife, Susan, of Princeton; a brother, Okey Smith of Pensonfork, Ky.; three sisters, Bertha and Ceclia Smith and Stella Hardy, all of Pensonfork; nine grandchildren, 13 stepgrandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 27, at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel, Hinton, with Pastor Elmo Alderman officiating. Burial will follow in Lilly-Crews cemetery, Nimitz.
Friends may call 1 p.m. until time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.
Family members will serve as pallbearers.

MEADOW CREEK — Alma Ray Johnson, 87, of Meadow Creek, beloved wife of John Russell Johnson, passed from this life to be with the Lord on Friday, June 23, 2006.
She was born in Charleston on Sept. 14, 1918, a daughter of the late Inge and Mary Lowe McCormick.
Alma worked for Owings Illinois Corp. in Charleston, then transferred to Streater, Ill., before retiring in 1971. She had been a resident of Meadow Creek since 1971, and was a member of Sandstone Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Ralph, James, Samuel Ray and Edgar McCormick; and a sister, Ruth Ray.
Survivors include her husband, John Russell Johnson; a son, Bruce and wife, Paula Johnson, of Miami, Fla.; two daughters, Bonnie Hatcher and husband, Clifford, of Beaver and Dora Ann Reed and husband, Carl, of Glen Morgan; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Service will be 3 p.m. today at Sandstone Baptist Church with Pastor Delmas Beavers officiating. Burial will follow in Richmond cemetery, Sandstone.
The family will receive friends 2 p.m. until time of service today at the church.

Astridge ‘Dane’ Lindsey
Astridge Duane “Dane” Lindsey, 72, of 268 Canterbury Drive, Shady Spring, died Thursday, June 22, 2006, at his home following a long illness.
Born in Pulaski, Va., on Feb. 3, 1934, he was the son of the late Astridge and Iva Cole Lindsey.
Mr. Lindsey was a retired employee of the U.S. Postal Service in Washington, D.C., with 34 years of service. He attended the Church of God Family Worship Center in Beckley.
He had made his home at Shady Spring for the past two years.
Mr. Lindsey was preceded in death by a sister, Iva McGhee; and brothers, Richard, Robert, John and Ival Lindsey.
Surviving are his wife, Rosie Smith Lindsey; a son, Michael D. Lindsey of Mabscott; a sister, Rose Gargon and husband, Bill, of Madison; brothers, Jerry Lindsey and wife, Helen, of Roanoke, Va., Ronald Lindsey and wife, Margaret, of Lookout and Donald Lindsey and wife, Dawn, of Crab Orchard; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside rites and burial will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley, with Pastor Mark Schrade officiating.

Arnella Fay Maynor, 65, of Crab Orchard, formerly of Prosperity, died Friday, June 23, 2006, at her home following a short illness.
Born at Minden on Oct. 28, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Walter Osborne and Elsie Lively Osborne.
Mrs. Maynor was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph May-nor, and two brothers, William and Harry.
Survivors include a daughter, Teresa Buchanan and husband, Flint, of Crab Orchard, with whom she shared her home during her illness; two sons, Joseph Maynor Jr. and wife, Donna, of Sophia and Randy Maynor of Sophia; two brothers, Hubert Osborne of Oak Hill and Clarence Osborne of Chesapeake, Va.; a sister, Norma Westmoreland of Mount Tabor; and two grandchildren, Stacie and Kayla Buchanan.

Dollie Marie Lester Miller
CROSS LANES — Dollie Marie Lester Miller, 85, formerly of Mullens, gently left this world Friday, June 23, 2006, to be in the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in her new home.
Born Oct. 20, 1920, at Bud, she was the daughter of the late R.B. and Martha L. Whitt Lester.
Mrs. Miller was a homemaker, was of the Baptist faith, a former maid at the Wyoming Hotel, and was a former housekeeper for many families in the Mullens area.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four siblings, Willard Lester, Jenny Walker, Ruth Graham and Lowell Lester.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Justin E. Miller of Covel, Bernice L. Cottrill of Cross Lanes and Tyrone R. Miller of Mullens; six grandchildren, Michelle McDaniel of Charleston, Barrett E. Miller of Frametown, Danitra L. Hall of Garwood, Alisha Cottrill of Branchland, Krishna Miller of Wilmington, N.C., and Amber Hurst of Burlington, N.C.; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Dye, and Eileen Radford, both of Clear Lake, Calif.; and many nephews, nieces, cousins and dear friends. She was a mother to many and loved by all.
Service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel, Mullens, with Pastor Curtis England officiating. Burial will follow in Whitt Family cemetery on Whitt/Rinehart Mountain.

RONCEVERTE — Virginia S. Montgomery, 92, died Thursday, June 22, 2006 at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center following a sudden illness.
Born Oct. 17, 1913, at Charleston, she was preceded in death by her love of 63 years, the late Guy B. Montgomery Jr.; her mother, Hallie Goff; father, Lahma Sarver; and stepfather, David T. Johnson.
Survivors include two daughters, Gail Marshall of Lewisburg and Page Murphy and husband, Bob, of Lewisburg; five grandchildren, Christopher Nash and wife, Dana, Lucy Taylor and husband, Ray, and Mary Page Nemcik and husband, Joey, all of Lewisburg, Brent Nash and wife, Stephanie, of Springfield, Va., and Ginger Worrell and husband, Harry, of Roanoke, Va.; nine great-grandchildren; and friend and caregiver, Shelia Lewis and husband, John, of Meadow Bridge.
She lived in her family home in Ronceverte for the past 72 years where she was a homemaker who loved to entertain family and friends and enjoy the views from her back porch. She was a lifelong member of Old Stone Presbyterian Church, an active volunteer at the Americana shop and past president of the Women of the Church. She attended Greenbrier College for Women and graduated from Duke University. She also volunteered for more than a decade at the Greenbrier Valley Medical Center Volunteer Auxiliary.
A celebration of her life will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 27, at Old Stone Presbyterian Church, Lewisburg.

Earl Darrell Shaffer
OAK HILL — Earl Darrell Shaffer, 72, of Oak Hill, passed away Friday, June 23, 2006, at the Beckley VA Medical Center following a long illness.
Born March 7, 1934, at Hilltop, he was the son of the late W.E. “Bill” and Marjorie Legg Shaffer.
He was a retired barber and hair stylist. He was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church where he filled many positions, including deacon, Sunday school superintendent, and secretary and treasurer. Darrell was also an outstanding amateur photographer, having won several awards while a member of the Cameras in Action Camera Club. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Grace Ann Boyd Shaffer; daughter, Terri Ann Johnson and husband, “Beavo,” of Oak Hill; a brother, Jack L. Shaffer of Houston, Texas; a nephew, Robert Shaffer and children, Taylor, Caleb and Shawn Shaffer; and niece, Townya Miller of Galveston, Texas.
Service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Calvary Baptist Church, Oak Hill, with the Rev. Winston O’Neal officiating. Burial will follow in High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill.
