Maxine L. Workman, 86, of Hurricane went home to be with the Lord February 6, 2006.
Mrs. Workman is retired from Ben Franklin in Nitro and a member of Rock Branch Independent Church.
Mrs. Workman is the daughter of the late Herbert C. Landers and Alda Bailey Landers. She is also preceded in death by her husband Brady Workman; brothers Infant Chad, Rex, Eugene, Check and Glen Landers; sisters Infant Margaret, Louise Landers Ferrell and Ruby Landers Gibson.
She is survived by her children Doris Allison Null and husband Kermit of Hurricane; Malvin M. Allison and wife Ellen of West Covina, CA and James E. Allison and wife Lelit of Kissimmee, FL; sister Mary E. Mathes of Nitro; 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM Friday February 10, 2006 at Rock Branch Independent Church with Pastor Delbert Hawley officiating. Burial will follow in Haven of Rest Memorial Gardens. Friends may call 5 to 8 PM Thursday at Rock Branch Independent Church.

Martin Burdette “Jimmy” Craigo, 84, of Poca went home to be with the Lord February 6, 2006 at home.
He was born September 27, 1921 to the late Rev. Simon A. Craigo and Vonnie Blake Craigo. After teaching for 29 years he retired from the Virginia Board of Education. Although retired, he continued to work hard as a cabinet maker for American Woodmark.
Loving God, Family and his Country, he faithfully served them all proudly. He attended Bancroft Church of God Mission. He served as a boatswains mate 1st class in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1949, he was presented with several commendations and honors, Pacific Campaign, European African, Middle Eastern and American.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Marcella Sanson Craigo of 8 years; three children Anthony B. Craigo of Frisco, NC; Teresa C. Humphreys of Glen Rose, TX; M. Thomas Craigo and Lucy Adams, wife of Manasses, VA; four loving step-daughters Brenda J. Wolfe of Cross Lanes, Mary F. Hacker, Patricia A. Gibson, Sandra M. Reedy and husband Jerry all of Poca; sister Laura Nelson of Knoxville, TN; 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM Friday at Bancroft Church of God Mission with Pastor Earl Cochran, Rev. Ralph Workman and Frank Allen, Jr. officiating. Entombment will follow in Haven of Rest Memorial Gardens; Red House with military honors by the Bennie Padilla Post # 4768 in Alum Creek. Mr. Craig McCoy
Mr. Craig McCoy, 38, of Berea, KY passed away March 21, 2007 in St. Joseph Berea Hospital.
Craig is survived by his daughters Rebecca Lynn of Panama City, FL and Sierra Ann of Statesville, NC; mother Sherry and step-father Ray Thompson of Statesville, NC and grandfather Arthur Wines of Winfield.

Mr. George William Yates, Sr.
Mr. George William Yates, Sr., 50, of Nitro passed away September 5, 2008 at home.
Mr. Yates is a former employee and member of Maranatha Fellowship, St. Albans and a former auto mechanic. He loved spending time with his family and loved going to church and spending time with his brothers and sisters at Maranatha Fellowship.
He is survived by his mother Addie Belle Yates; children George William Yates, II, William Emery Yates, Mark David Yates and Michael Bruce Yates; brothers Terry and Larry Yates; sister Diane; mother of his children Cheryl Sue Boyd and grandmother of his children Irene Adkins.

Mrs. Shirley Ruth Burker
Mrs. Shirley Ruth Burker, loving wife, mother, grandmother and aunt, 67, of Browns Creek, Tornado, passed away September 6, 2008 at home.
Mrs. Burker is retired from Nitro Senior Center and a friend to all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband Lee Burker; children Timothy and Steven Burker and Susan Pomeroy and 10 grandchildren. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
A tribute to the life of Shirley will be 2:00 PM Tuesday September 9, 2008 at Gatens-Harding Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor James Cash officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery; Hurricane Creek Road. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
Mrs. Alice Marie McGuire, 62, of Red House, formerly of Monroe County, passed away September 6, 2008 at home after a year long courageous battle with cancer.
She is a former employee of B.F. Goodrich and former CNA with Teays Valley Nursing Home.
She is preceded in death by her parents Tex and Lucille McGuire and daughter Patricia.
Mrs. McGuire is survived by her husband Earl Christy; sons Marshall and wife Cindy Faulkner of Charlotte Heights, VA and Franklin and wife Patty Faulkner of Monroe County; sister-in-law Dawn Clancy of Boston, Mass; close friend Vicky Faulkner of Monroe County; five grandchildren Sam, Patricia, Leah and Grace Faulkner and April McCroskey and six great grandchildren.
Mrs. McGuire will be cremated and private burial will be held at a later date in Monroe County.
The family would like to thank Dr. Steven Jubelirer; 5th floor staff at CAMC Memorial and the staff of Kanawha Hospice for all their love and care during this time.

Mrs. Lola B. McClure Lively
Mrs. Lola B. McClure Lively, 77, of Charleston was born in Bearfork, WV at 7:30 AM on a Saturday. The sun was shining outside, the wind was blowing dust out on the old country road. She fell asleep in Christ after a short illness on August 31, 2008 surrounded by her family at Thomas Memorial Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her father, Charles L. McClure, her mother Gladys Starkey, her first husband, Ralph G. Chase, and second husband, her beloved Leonard Ray Lively, lifelong dear friend Elsie Legg, sisters in Christ Hanna Fuqua and Sophie Wright.
She was a lifelong and faithful member of the Charleston Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Lola was a dedicated LPN and RN with over 35 years of service at Thomas Memorial Hospital, from where she retired. Anyone who knew her loved her as she shared her dedication with the Lord to others.
Lola is survived by her daughters, Evelyn Rolf of Newark, OH, Susan and husband Jim Robinson, Martha Pierson, Jenny Elaine Chase, Sibyl Eileen and husband Benson Bare, and Barbara Jean and husband Jerry Spangler all of Charleston; sons Stephen and wife Elizabeth Lively of Burr Ridge, Illinois, Dr. John Lively of Charleston; grandchildren Tina Mounts, Scott Bare, Chantel LolaRae Bare, Billy Robinson, Kelly and husband Lee Hawkins, Allyson Lively, Alex Lively, James and wife Sara Lively, Patricia and husband Eric Guthrie, Anita and husband Allen Atkinson and Justin Winter, her two step-grandchildren Tina Holtsclaw and Jeanna Means, 16 great grandchildren and three step-great grandchildren, her sister Sibyl Murray and husband Fred of Kentucky, her “adopted” daughters Kathy McKnight, Kim Bailey, April Coleman and Yolanda Honaker, her special nephews Gary, Ron and Grey Chase, and Doug and Randy Legg, and her very special furry companions Felix and Miriam. She was also surrogate mother to her furry friend Moses.
The family would like to express thanks to all the wonderful nurses for their dedicated and loving care and to Lola’s “hand-picked” physicians for the compassion and care they provided to Lola during her illness and a very special thanks to Pastor Ken Blundell.
Per Lola’s wishes, her body was donated to the Marshall University Medical School.
A memorial services and celebration of Lola’s life will be held on Sunday, September 14, 2008, 7:00 PM at the Charleston Seventh-Day Adventist Church with Pastor Ken Blundell officiating. The family will receive friends and visitors one hour prior to the service.

Mr. Loren C. Carney
Mr. Loren C. Carney, 67, of Sanford, NC passed away September 1, 2008 at home.
Mr. Carney is preceded in death by his wife Sue Carney, father Denver Carney, brother Eugene Carney and infant sister.
He is survived by his mother Oshel Carney Lee of Liberty; children John and wife Tonya Carney and Joey and wife Kathy Carney; brother Lee and wife Jean Carney of Liberty and three grandchildren.
A tribute to the life of Mr. Carney will be 2:00 PM Saturday September 6, 2008 at Center Point Church with Sam Kinser officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
