Mary Ellen Worrell, of 107 Coponiti St., Beckley, died Thursday, April 20, 2006, at Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital following a long illness.
Born June 12, at Cranberry, she was the daughter of the late Hughie Webb and Agnes Sublett Webb.
Mrs. Worrell was a member of Maple Fork Baptist Church. She lived in Beckley all of her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Worrell; and a foster brother, Jackie Sublett.
Survivors include a son, Michael Worrell and wife, Karen, of Greensboro, N.C.; daughter, Susan Worrell of Beckley; a stepdaughter, Phyllis Facello and husband, Frank, of Maple Fork; and grandchildren, Ashlea Worrell of San Antonio, Texas, and Derek Worrell of Charlotte, N.C.
Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel, Beckley, with the Rev. Robert Barley officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley.
Friends may call one hour before service Saturday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Men of the Maple Fork Baptist Church.

Paul L. Meador
BLUEFIELD — Paul L. Meador Sr., 77, of 103 Blue Stone Drive, died Saturday, Nov. 12, 2005, in a Bluefield hospital.

Paige Skaggs Sr.
Paige Skaggs Sr., born Nov. 29, 1914, departed this life on Nov. 12, 2005, at Montgomery Elderly Care where he had been a resident since April of 2005.
Born in Ansted the son of Grover and Minnie Mae Skaggs, he was a descendant of the area’s first settler, Charles Skaggs, who received a land grant for 400 A. in 1792 for the area that is now Ansted.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Erma Ruth Hamrick Skaggs; his parents; his four brothers, Eugene, killed at Pearl Harbor, W.D., Gordon and Millard, who died in infancy, all of Ansted.
Paige Sr. is survived by his sons, Paige Jr. of Ansted (wife Ann) and James of Salt Lick, Ky. (wife Frankie); three grandchildren, Robin Looney of Southpoint, Ohio, Dr. Chris Skaggs of Hurricane, W.Va., and Tracy Skaggs of Lexington, Ky. He also had six great-grandchildren: Paige Madison and Garrett Looney, Gabrielle and Morgan Skaggs and Jacob Paige and Dylan Goins.
Paige Sr. lived all of his 91 years in Ansted except for the time he served in the Civilian Conservation Corps at Camp Woodbine near Richwood. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1944 and served as a radar operator during World War II on the USS Adair. He was an independent trucking contractor during the construction of the Hawks Nest Dam and Tunnel and retired from Elkem Metals at Alloy with 36 years service. He had served as a member of Ansted Town Council and later as town maintenance supervisor.
He was the oldest member of St. Pauls United Methodist Church, and belonged to Hayden Lodge 113 where he was a past Master Mason, the Signal Knob Knights of Pythias, and the Eugene Skaggs VFW Post in Ansted, named for his brother.
His lifelong interests were recording the weather, trains (he was a Lionel collector and C&O history buff), and baseball (Atlanta Braves fan).
A celebration of his life will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Restlawn Mausoleum Chapel at Victor, W.Va.

Vadis Mack Smith Jr., 78, of Peterstown, formerly of Beckley, died Sunday, Nov. 13, 2005, in a Princeton hospital.

Barbara Ellen Wyatt
Barbara Ellen Wyatt, 59, of Shady Spring, died Friday, Nov. 11, 2005, at Raleigh General Hospital following a long illness.
Born Feb. 15, 1946, at Eccles, she was the daughter of the late Homer Lee Conn and Frankie Barbetta Conn.
Mrs. Wyatt was a homemaker. She was a member of Hotchkiss Missionary Baptist Church and lived most of her life at Shady Spring.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Wesley Wyatt, in 1991; a son, Earl Wesley Wyatt; a granddaughter, Katrina Lynn McKinney; and a brother, Delmer Conn.
Survivors include three daughters, Carol McKinney and husband, Randy, of Shady Spring, with whom she made her home, Donna Lilly and husband, Larry, of Whitby and Elizabeth Simpson and husband, Randy, of Coal City; three brothers, Chester Conn and wife, Chea, of Pennsylvania, Dallas Conn and wife, Melissa, of Naoma and Gary Conn of Naoma; a sister, Betty Gooslin and husband, Jackie, of Pemberton; 14 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two nieces, four nephews and a great-nephew.
Service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel, Beckley. Burial will follow in Slab Fork cemetery.
Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Robert Junior Blankenship
Robert Junior Blankenship, 79 years old, died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006, at Raleigh General Hospital, following a long illness.
Born Sept. 10, 1927, in Iaeger, WV, he was the son of the late Abraham Blankenship and Jenny Asbury.
Mr. Blankenship served in the Army, was a coal miner for several years, and a Baptist minister for approximately 40 years. Mr. Blankenship was a proud member of the Pikeview Christian Church in Beckley, WV.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Blankenship was preceded in death by a sister, Jerry Rambo.
Survivors include his wife, Loretta Blankenship of Beckley, WV, for the past 58 years; five daughters, Patricia McClure of Beckley, WV, Cathy Eastridge of Daniels, WV, Bonnie Kiser of Cool Ridge, WV, Carol Phillips of Shady Spring, WV, and Kimberly Blankenship of Beckley, WV; a brother, Jim Blankenship of Man, WV; two sisters, Juanita Cline of Gilbert, WV, and Maria Webb of Russell, KY; other survivors include nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and several nephews, nieces, family, and friends all whom will miss him.
Services will be Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2006, at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley, with Rev. Gary Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.
Pallbearers will include the following grandsons, Robbie McClure of Parkersburg, WV, Michael McClure of Beckley, WV, Scott Eastridge of Crab Orchard, WV, Cameron Kiser of Cool Ridge, WV, Brandon Phillips of Shady Spring, WV, and friend, Shawn Rice of Cool Ridge.
Honorary Pallbearer will be Jeremy Dean Phillips, grandson in Colorado.

REYNOLDSBURG, Ohio — Lou Ella Adkins, age 71, of Reynoldsburg, went home to be with the Lord on April 18, 2007.
She was a longtime member of Kirkersville Apostolic Church.

Chrissonderia ‘Sandy’ Chambers
LYNCO — Chrissonderia “Sandy” Knight Chambers, 48, of Lynco, passed away Sunday, April 15, 2007, at her residence following a long illness.
Born Feb. 23, 1959, in Logan County, she was the daughter of the late Linzie Knight Sr. and Catherine Ellison Knight.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Linzie Knight Jr.
Mrs. Chambers attended the Fairdale Freewill Baptist Church. She enjoyed singing, dancing, her grandchildren and being with her family and friends.
Survivors include her husband of 29 years, Woodrow “Bobo” Chambers of the residence; three sons, Michael Chambers and his wife, Lawanda, of Glen Daniel, and Matthew Chambers and Nathan Chambers, both of Beckley; one daughter, Jamie Wilson and her husband, Brian, of Beckley; two brothers, Ronnie Knight of Cleveland, Ohio, and Jerry Robertson of Prichard, W.Va.; two sisters, Sue Knight of Jacksonville, Fla., and Jeanie Brown of Lyburn; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 21, 2007, at the Bolt Community Center, Bolt, with the Rev. Mike Brown officiating.

Augustus Durgan
We recall the account of his birth to the late Augustus and Rosa Durgan. Augustus was born on June 9, 1925, in Iroquois, W.Va. This beloved servant departed this life on April 14, 2007, in Cincinnati, Ohio, after suffering a long illness.
Augustus was joined in holy matrimony to Margaret Catus on Aug. 31, 1951. From this union was a blessing of four children: Carl, Donald, Mark and Margaret Durgan.
Augustus was an outstanding baseball player. Also, he was the founder of several gospel groups and pastor of Divine Faith Temple for many years. He loved to help people and had a passion for singing. He was in the Army during World War II, and then he was honorably discharged on Feb. 26, 1946. He also worked in the coal mine until 1959 followed by a career as supervisor at Frank Tea and Spice Company, where he was instrumental in helping many people get jobs.
Augustus is survived by one brother, Rev. Andrew J. Durgan of Beckley, and six children, Carl (Kaye) Durgan, Donald (Jacqueline) Durgan, Mark (Melanie) Durgan, Margaret Larkin, Robin Thompson, and Alicia Durgan; 21 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by siblings: Lynn King, Sarah Slade, Rosetta Kincaid and Dorothy Goins.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul Baptist Temple, 129 Rice St., Beckley, with Pastor Andrew Durgan Sr. and Pastor Walter M. Leach officiating.
A viewing will be two hours prior to service on Saturday. Burial will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.
