RUPERT — Carl Jackson Bottomly, 71, of Rupert, passed away Sunday, Nov. 20, 2005, in Marietta, Ohio, following a long illness.

Eupha J. Dressler

LEWISBURG — Eupha J. Dressler, 97, of Lewisburg, passed away Saturday, Nov. 19, 2005.

Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Second Creek Pentecostal Holiness Church. Friends may call today from 6 until 8 p.m. at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home in Ronceverte.

Jackie Wayne Epperson

QUINWOOD — Jackie Wayne Epperson, 53, of Leivasy Road, Quinwood, passed away unexpectedly in the early morning hours of Saturday, Nov. 19, 2005, at his home.

Born Sept. 29, 1952, at Marfrance, he was a son of the late Oakley Roland Epperson and Beulah Tinsley Epperson of Carl.

Mr. Epperson was a member and trustee of Crichton Methodist Church and custodian of Mountain Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Rainelle Moose Lodge #1647 of Rainelle.

Those left to mourn his passing include his mother, Beulah Tinsley Epperson of Carl; a son, Devin Oakley Lilly of Rainelle; a sister, Sherri Yearego Gilkeson and husband Jim of Charmco; two brothers, Jimmy Dale Epperson and wife Gayle of Lilly Park, Rainelle, and Jerry Joe Epperson of Lake City, Fla.; fiancee, Rhonda Christy Harmon of Crichton; and a special cousin, David Epperson of Mt. Hope.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Wallace and Wallace Chapel in Rainelle, with the Rev. Houston Boothe officiating, and Rev. Denver Tiller assisting. Entombment will follow at Wallace Memorial Mausoleum, Clintonville.

Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday evening at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home in Rainelle.

Samuel G. Farley

Samuel Green Farley, 87, of Mullens and Lynn Haven, Fla., passed away on Nov. 19, 2005, at a Panama City, Fla., health care center, following a long illness.

Born Nov. 25, 1917, at Farley Hill, he was the son of the late Oliver Owen and Ethel Mae Lilly Farley.

He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

He was a member of the Highland Avenue Baptist Church, Mullens, where he served as a deacon. A lifelong resident of Raleigh and Wyoming counties, he graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1935. He spent the entirety of his working career in the railroad industry, with the Virginian Railway and its successor, the Norfolk Southern Railway, retiring as a conductor.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved son, Dr. Phillip Farley; an infant granddaughter, Susan Kate Farley; and sisters, Lenore Farley McPherson and Belva Farley McVey.

Those individuals left to cherish memories of him are his loving and devoted wife of 65 years, Dorothy Green Farley; a beloved daughter, Carolyn and her husband Boyd Bunting of Lynn Haven, Fla.; granddaughter, Susan and her husband Mark Dupont of Jackson, Miss.; grandsons, Mark Vowell of Woodbridge, Va., John Phillip Farley of Boston, Mass., and Keith Samuel Farley of Princewick; great-granddaughters, Abbie Dupont and Samantha Dupont of Jackson, Miss.; sister-in-law, Betty Lester and her husband Bill of Mullens; brothers-in-law, Everett Green of Mullens, Charlie Green and his wife Jackie of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Bill Green and his wife, Delores, of Owensville, Mo.; several nieces and nephews; many cousins and a host of friends.

Graveside rites will be conducted at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity, on Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2005, at 10:00 a.m., with the Rev. Warren L. Gilpin, pastor, officiating. The family will receive friends and family at 9:30 a.m. prior to the service at the Blue Ridge Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that you make donations of sympathy to the Highland Avenue Baptist Church, Mullens, W.Va.

Kathleen Virginia Harsh

BUCKHANNON — Kathleen Virginia Harsh, 84, a resident of Rt. 4, Buckhannon, passed away at 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 20, 2005, in the Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital in Parkersburg.

She was born Oct. 4, 1921, in Thomas, a daughter of the late George Raymond and Nora Belle (Lear) Dawson.

She was united in marriage on Nov. 10, 1940, to Elmer Morris (Smokey) Harsh, who survives.

Mrs. Harsh was a dining room hostess/supervisor at the Twin Falls State Park in Mullens, a homemaker, and a United Methodist by faith.

Mrs. Harsh was the last surviving member of her immediate family having been preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters; one son, Robert Eugene Harsh; one grandson, Gregory Allen Harsh; and one great-grandson, Curtis Matthew Harsh.

Other than her husband, survivors include a daughter, Mary Elizabeth and husband Tom Stark of Parkersburg; four sons, Harold L. Harsh of Buckhannon, David L. and wife Kimberly Harsh of Glade Springs, Ronald L. and wife Sharon Harsh of Charleston, and Timmy and wife Paula Worden of Davis; a daughter-in-law, Joyce Ann and husband Dan Brown of Buckhannon; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home, 216 N. Walnut St., Philippi, today from 5 until 8 p.m. and on Tuesday from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. the service hour, with Rev. Jon Lands of the Fellowship Baptist Church of Vienna officiating. Interment will follow in the Concord cemetery.

Sylvia D. Herron

Sylvia D. Herron, 82, of Shady Spring, formerly of Eccles, passed away at home on Nov. 18, 2005, following a long illness, with her family by her side.

Sylvia was born on Sept. 3, 1923, to the late Haven G. and Fannie Mae Newman Dickens at Maynor. Sylvia was of the Christian faith.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Collins and Pansy Dickens; and a brother, Fred Arless Dickens.

Sylvia leaves behind her loving and devoted husband of 59 years, Carl Herron; three daughters and two sons, Patricia Pena of Fayetteville, Roger Herron and wife Drema of Riverside, Ohio, James C. Herron and wife Linda of Eccles, Sharon Smith and husband Jim of Shady Spring, and Teresa Webb and husband Kevin of Glen Daniel. Sylvia had 11 grandchildren, Michael Herron, Tammie McGraw, Shaun Pena, Kelly Pena, Eric Herron, Laura Bilbrey, Debbie Covey and husband Bryant, Jaime Rhyan and husband Dustin, Jimmy Smith and wife Detra, Amanda Webb, and Kevin Carl Webb. Some of her grandchildren fondly called her “Gilley.” Four great-grandchildren, Christopher, Chase, Mikayla, and Niki, and one expected in early summer; and a special friend, Thelma Smith. Sylvia also leaves behind four sisters and a brother, Ruby Fedlock, Stella Hamm, Loretta Murphy, and Patty Booth, all of Virginia, and Norman Dickens of California.

She loved her family beyond imagination and will be sadly missed by all.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. today in the Melton Mortuary Chapel, with the Rev. Delmas Cox officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park cemetery, Beckley.

Pallbearers will be Oral Plumley, Jerry Braskey, Snowden Collins, Jay Sellards, Michael Muovich, and Danny Meadows.

The family requests that donations of sympathy be made to Hospice of Southern West Virginia, P.O. Box 1472, Beckley, WV 25802.

Robert E. Keesee

Robert E. Keesee, 86, of Beckley, died Saturday, Nov. 19, 2005, at the Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley, following a short illness.

Born at Pike County, Ky., on May 22, 1919, he was the son of the late John Henry Keesee and the late Elizabeth Zelia Keesee.

Mr. Keesee was a graduate of Morris Harvey College, and received his master’s degree in Education from West Virginia University. He had retired as a principal from Marlinton High School, and had served as a principal of various schools in southern West Virginia. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Beckley Presbyterian Church, the Beni Kedem Shrine in Charleston, the Beckley Masonic Lodge #45, A.F.&A.M., and the Beckley Moose Lodge #1606.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Amick Keesee; his son, Robin Keesee of Fairfax, Va.; and two grandsons, Abbott and Charley.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Beckley Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Adrian Pratt officiating.

Friends may call at the church one hour prior to services.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Beckley Presbyterian Church, 203 S. Kanawha St., Beckley, WV 25801.

Alice Lee Lloyd

FRANKFORD — Alice Lee Lloyd, 90, of Frankford, passed away Saturday, Nov. 19, 2005, following a long illness.

Born March 5, 1915, in Frankford, she was the daughter of the late Henry Thomas and Marry Ann Loudermilk.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Lloyd, in 1983.

She worked for Woodward and Lothrop in Washington, D.C., and retired from Fairfax County School Board in 1973.

Survivors include her twin sister, Alva Neal of Lewisburg; three nieces, Alice Yates of Frankford, Anna Mae Pitsenbarger, and Madeline Lilly, both of Lewisburg; three nephews, William “Bill” Yates of White Sulphur Springs, Emory Boone of Lewisburg, and Charles Neal of L.A., Calif.; 14 great-nieces and four great-nephews.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Morgan Funeral Home in Lewisburg, with Pastor Lila Collins and Rev. Charles Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow in Loudermilk cemetery at Clintonville.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to Hospice Care, 540 N. Jefferson St., Box 7, Suite D, Lewisburg, WV 24901.

Nadine Kennedy Lookabill

SOUTH FAYETTE TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Nadine Kennedy Lookabill, 80, of South Fayette Township, Pa., formerly of Rainelle, passed away on Nov. 19, 2005, after an extended illness.

She was born Sept. 5, 1925, in McDowell County, the daughter of the late William and Gladys Caudill Kennedy.

Nadine married Joseph Lookabill on Nov. 10, 1947, with whom she spent 53 years before his death in 2001.

Other than her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Eloise Kennedy Carroll; niece, Vicky Kennedy Nelson; nephew-in-law, Alvie Fitzwater; and sister-in-law, June Kennedy.

She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Biearman of South Fayette Township, Pa., and her husband Dennis; granddaughters, Kathryn (Kate) Stump of Miami Beach, Fla., and Christine Biearman of South Fayette Township, Pa.; a sister, Virginia Miller of Beckley; two brothers, Oliver Kennedy (Nelma) of Charleston, S.C., and Bill Kennedy of Columbia, S.C.; special friends, Robin and Krista Williams of Rainelle; nieces and nephews and their families including Pamela Carroll Fitzwater (Stori, Gordon, Peyton, Kennedy, Ryan, and Lora), Stormy Kennedy May (Herb, Shane, and Erica), Melissa Kennedy Coburn (John, Ashley, Ray, Gavin, and Cynthia), Steve Kennedy (Jo, Sean, Elise, Wesley, and Abigail), and Craig Kennedy (Cindy, Erin, and Kristen).

Friends will be received at Bethany Presbyterian Church-’s Chapel in Bridgeville, Pa., today from 4 until 6 p.m. A blessing service will be held at 6 p.m. at the chapel with the Rev. Daniel Hrach officiating. Nadine will return to West Virginia to be buried next to Joe at Wallace Memorial cemetery. The family will receive friends at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home in Rainelle on Tuesday from 12 noon until 2 p.m. Rev. Jim Yeargo will conduct a brief service at the funeral home at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions in Nadine’s name to the Cancer Caring Center, 4117 Liberty Ave., Pgh., PA 15224, or The National Kidney Foundation of Western PA, 555 Grant St., Ste. 317, Pgh., PA 15219.

Arrangements entrusted to Ralph Schugar Chapel Inc., Pittsburgh, Pa., and Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home, Rainelle.

Katherine Lori Morgan

RONCEVERTE — Katherine Lori Morgan, 32, of Ronceverte, passed away Saturday, Nov. 19, 2005.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church, Ronceverte.

Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home in Ronceverte is in charge of arrangements.
