Survivors include a son, Jeffrey Warner of Gilbert; two daughters, Layne Coleman of Salisbury, N.C., and Francine Hall of Nevada; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Memorial service will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel, Beckley, with Mr. Steve Baird officiating.
There will be no visitation.

LYNCHBURG, Va. — Nan Childress, 92, formerly of Oceana, passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2007.

Sarah ‘Mildred’ Fertig
WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS — Sarah “Mildred” Fertig, 88, died early Monday morning, June 18, 2007, at the White Sulphur Springs Family Care Center after an extended illness.
She was born Aug. 15, 1917, in Neola, a daughter of the late Elisha Beuring and Estella Eunice Foster Fertig.
Ms. Fertig was of the Methodist faith. She had been a night auditor at Daniel Boone Hotel in Charleston and also worked at the Alvon Hotel in White Sulphur Springs.
Preceding her in death other than her father and mother, was a sister, Mary Trainer and a brother, James Fertig. She was also preceded in death by a special friend; Clate Brackman.
Survivors include a sister-in-law, Mary Fertig of White Sulphur Springs; a niece, Carolyn Culver and her husband, Danny of Bluefield; six nephews, Frank Trainer and his wife, Carolyn of Neola, Mack Trainer and his wife, Debbie of Marlinton, Bill Fertig and his wife, Linda of Lewisburg, Marshall Trainer and his wife, Betty of Buena Vista, Va., Jim Trainer of Neola, and Bruce Trainer and his wife, Clarissa of Marlinton. Also surviving are six great nieces and three great nephews.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, June 21, at the Chapel of Shanklin Funeral Home, White Sulphur Springs with the Rev. Brent Sturm, O.S.L. officiating.
Burial will follow in Mapledale cemetery, White Sulphur Springs.
The family will receive their friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ronald E. Griffith
Ronald E. Griffith, 59, of Cool Ridge, died Sunday, June 17, 2007, in a Charleston hospital following a short illness.
Born Dec. 22, 1947, at Beckley, he was the son of the late Ernest and Myrtle Smith Griffith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Lee Griffith; his bother, Earl Griffith; and sisters, Marie Roberts and Patsy Bennett.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 40 years, Catherine A. Griffith; his sons, Michael W. Griffith of Simpsonville, S.C., Robert C. Griffith and his wife, Helena of Bluewell, and his beloved granddaughter, Madison Griffith. he is also survived by his brothers, Donald and Lawrence Griffith; his sister, Eleanor Meadows and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was a disabled Veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the U.S. Army and being recipient of the Purple Heart. He was also retired from the United States Post Office.
Services will be 11 a.m. today, Wednesday, June 20, 2007, at Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Chapel, Shady Spring with Pastor Delvin Elwell Jr. and the Rev. Alfred E. Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.
Friends gathered with the family from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Chapel, Shady Spring.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Margie Lee Reed Hamm
HINTON — Margie Lee Reed Hamm, 82, passed away at her home, Monday June 18, 2007 after a long illness.
Born October 10, 1924 at Madams Creek in Summers County. She was the daughter of the late Lonza L. and Nina S. Deeds Reed.
Margie was a beloved sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. As long as her health permitted she was a member and attended Mount Olivet Church at Madams Creek. After working for G.C. Murphy during World War II she then became a wonderful mother and homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, Donald Hamm in June 1997, one sister, Lucille Reed of Madams Creek and two brothers Allen Reed and wife Macie of Madams Creek and Ronald Reed of Hinton.
Margie is survived by two sons, Donnie Hamm and wife Carmen of Hinton and Doug Hamm and wife Patty of Norton, Va.; four grandchildren J.D. Hamm and wife Tara of Kingsport, Tenn., Melissa Hamm Humphreys and husband Ted of White Sulphur Springs, Sherry Hamm Sheehan and husband Gerry of Petaluma, Calif., and Rebecca Hamm Wiant and husband Richie of White Sulphur Springs; two step grandchildren Joey Stacey of Stafford, Va., and Maria Stacey Marvin of Hinton; three great grandchildren, Bruce and Rozalynn Humphreys and Kaylee Wiant all of White Sulphur Springs. Margie was expecting her fourth great grandchild from Petaluma, Calif. Three step great grandchildren, Christie and Joey Stacey of Stafford, Va. and Kenny Marvin of Hinton; one sister, Frances Meadows of North Kingstown, R.I., and two brothers, James Reed and wife Janice of Pipestem and Harold Reed and wife Juanita of Hinton. Thirteen nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews also survive.
Additional caregivers include Delores Hopkins, Frances Adkins, Mariyln Gunther, Jeannie Cales, Judy Arthur, and Dee Dee Cales all of Hinton.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Phillip Lilly officiating. Burial will follow in the Reed Family cemetery on Madams Creek.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today, Wednesday.
Pallbearers will be Jack Adkins, Randy Hampton, Gary and Will Reed, Edgar Rush and Donnie Reed. Jackie Lee Adkins and Greg Adkins will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Dorothy Evelyn Harvey
CORINNE — Dorothy Evelyn Harvey, 88, died Monday, June 18, 2007, at Wyoming Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, New Richmond, following a long illness.
Born June 20, 1918, at Coaldale, she was the daughter of the late Harvey E. and Minnie Mae Thomas Hodge.
Mrs. Harvey was a homemaker, a 59 year resident of Corinne, and a former employee of Collins Department Store, Strattons, and J&J’s Grocery. She was a member of the Stephenson United Methodist Church.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Marvin G. Harvey; two grandsons; three brothers, and three sisters.
Those left to cherish her memory include three daughters, Norma M. Cooper and her husband, Harold of Corinne, Carrol R. Thompson of Loveland, Ohio, and Marie Severt of Bolt; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great grandchildren.
Graveside services and burial will be 2 p.m. today, Wednesday at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Princeton, with the Rev. Tracy French officiating.
Friends may call today from 12 noon until 1 p.m. at Tankersley Funeral Home, Mullens.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Robert Lee ‘Bob’ Jarrell
Robert Lee “Bob” Jarrell, 61 of Quarry Street, Beckley went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 6, 2007.
Born on September 13, 1945 in Whitesville, he was the son of the late John Emil and Chloe Ellen Gregory Jarrell.
Bob was a resident of Raleigh County since 1968, and he proudly served in the U.S. Army. He worked as a coal miner for New River Coal in Stanaford, WV. He loved baseball and a good game, he served as a Little League baseball coach and manager, league President and he was a high school referee and umpire for basketball and football.
He was preceded in death by his sisters: Betty Morris, Dora and Shirley Palmeroy and by an infant sister Margie Lee.
Survivors include his sister Ruby Cunningham of Detroit, Mich., Wynitta McCoy and Phyllis Summers both of Cabin Creek, W.Va. Many nephews and nieces survive. He will always be sadly missed and greatly appreciated for his efforts, duties and thoughtfulness by the Chapman families and his Border Collie, Jack.
There will be no services.

Margaret L. Jones
Margaret L. Jones, 73, of Shady Spring, died Sunday, June 17, 2007, at Bowers Hospice House following a long illness.
Born Jan. 3, 1934, at Beckley, she was the daughter of the late John G. Isom and Virgie Vines Isom.
Mrs. Jones was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Ivan “Sonny” Isom, Ira Earl Isom, James Isom, Clarence Isom and Johnie Isom and four sisters, Jacqueline Isom, Stella Isom Buckland, Ruby Isom and Macie Isom Baker.
Survivors include three daughters, Vickie Surbaugh and companion, Lee French of Beckley, Linda Jones whom she made her home with of Shady Spring, Brenda Hatfield of Shady Spring; two sons, Ivan Darrell Jones and companion, Almeda Culver of Shady Springs and Joey Jones and wife, Bonnie of Beckley; two sisters-in-law, Vivian Buckland and Jean Isom; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and special friends, Sharon Harvey, Ethel Tabor and Roger and Barbara Harvey; and many nieces and nephews.
Her remains rest at the High Lawn Funeral Home Chapel, 1435 East Main St., Oak Hill, where the family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, and where service will be held 1 p.m. today, Wednesday, with Pastor Thomas Wallace officiating.
Burial will follow in High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill.
