FAIRLEA — Lester W. Bryant, 76, died Sunday, April 16, 2006.

Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Morgan Funeral Home in Lewisburg. Friends may call one hour before the service at the funeral home.

Hubert H. Buster

RAINELLE — Hubert H. Buster, 101, of Lilly Park, passed away early Monday morning, April 17, 2006, at his home, following a long illness.

Born Dec. 31, 1904, at Alloy, W.Va., he was a son of the late John and Emma B. Eubank Buster.

Mr. Buster retired as an official road foreman of engines from the C&O Railroad in 1969. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Rainelle, a member of the Rainelle Lions Club, a member of Midland Trail Masonic Lodge No. 166 of Rainelle and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by several brothers and a sister.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Faye M. Shafer Buster of Lilly Park; a daughter, Margaret “Maggie” Romage of Gandeeville, W.Va.; a son, David Buster of Williamsburg, Va.; three grandchildren, Matthew Groves of Hudson, Ohio, Jaimie and Joshua Buster of Virginia Beach, Va.; two great-grandchildren, Quinn and Julia Haven Groves of Hudson, Ohio; three nephews, John “Jack” “Hemmings of Lexington, Va., Kedrick Buster of Ronceverte, and Kyle Buster of Cannelton; three nieces, Mary Ellen Delzeit of Laguna Beach, Calif., Margaret Barber of Owanka, S.D., and Virginia Ternack of Arizona.

Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Rainelle United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Allen Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at End of the Trail cemetery, Clintonville.

Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations of sympathy be made to Rainelle United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 646, Rainelle, WV 25962.

Arrangements entrusted to Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home, Rainelle.

Betty Jo Clement

Betty Jo Clement, 68, of Beckley passed away Thursday, April 13, 2006, at a local hospital.

Born May 27, 1937, at Raleigh, she was the daughter of the late John and Memphis T. Cartham Moore.

Betty was a Jehovah’s Witness for the past 35 years.

In addition to her parents, her husband, Robert Clement Sr., preceded Betty in death.

Those left to cherish her memory include three daughters, Debra Rowland of Beckley, Angela Adams and husband, Michael, of Newark , Del., Linda Clement-Kyle and husband, Terry, of Beckley, three sons, Robert Clement Jr. and wife, Darlene, of Beckley, James Clement and wife, Michele, of Beckley, Joseph Clement of Morgantown, and ten grandchildren, Jeshanna, Amber, Nadia, Alyssa, Jetera, Denzel, Jasmine, Alegna, Tia Nicole and Jamiee; two sisters, Jean Mackey and Alice Badger; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, April 22, 2006, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses on 199 Gunter Road in Beckley. Steve Baird will conduct the service.

Blue Ridge Funeral Home, 5251 Robert C. Byrd Drive, Beckley, is serving the Clement family.

Virgil Frankie Adkins

RAINELLE — Virgil Frankie Adkins, 55, died Tuesday, May 9, 2006.

Service will be 11 a.m. today at Smathers Funeral Chapel, Rainelle. Friends may call one hour before service today at the funeral home.

Effie ‘Chinkey’ Akers

LASHMEET — Effie “Chinkey” Akers, 73, died Monday, May 8, 2006.

Service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Rowland H. Bailey Funeral Chapel of Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home, Princeton. Friends may call 1 p.m. until time of service Friday at the funeral home.

Julia A. Bolen

Julia A. Bolen C.P.A., 44, of Crab Orchard went to be with the Lord Saturday, Feb. 3rd after a short illness.

Born in 1962, she was a graduate of Independence High School and Concord College. She was employed at the Raleigh County Court House and though she was there just a short time, she loved her job and the people she worked with. Julia loved people, life and cats, and collected pins. She was a very giving person who loved spending time with her church (Jordan Christian Fellowship) and her family there.

She was preceded in death by her father, Calvin Kenneth Bolen.

Those left to cherish her memory include her mother, Hazel M. Bolen of Glen View; brother, Kevin E. Bolen with wife Judy M. Bolen; and Julia’s precious niece, Cinthia Kay Bolen of Glen View; and sister, Allison M. Addair, also of Glen View.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Jordan Christian Fellowship so that the spirit of her giving may continue. The address is: Jordan Christian Fellowship, P.O. Box 812, Sophia, WV, 25921.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley, with the Rev. Tim Roberts officiating.

Friends may gather with the family today from 6 to 9 p.m. at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley.

Leonard Clark, 52, of 237 S. Heber St., Beckley, died Monday, Feb. 5, 2007, at B.A.R.H.

Patricia ‘Halie’ McQuain Cordial

RAINELLE — Patricia “Halie” McQuain Cordial, 68, passed away Sunday, Feb. 4, 2007, at her home following a long illness.

Born on Oct. 28, 1938, in Middletown, Rainelle, she was the daughter of the late Charles Roscoe McQuain Sr. and the late Virginia Halsey McQuain Hall.

Mrs. Cordial was a homemaker, a member of the Rainelle First Baptist Church and a charter member of the Women of the Moose No. 1857.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Reney Allen Cordial Jr.; a long time companion, Gene Wilson; four brothers, Guy, Earl, Kenneth and Pat McQuain; two sisters, Ethel Sottilo and Shirley Bowyer and a step sister, Judy Hall.

Survivors include two sons, Reney Cordial III and wife, Terry of Crawley and Keith Cordial and wife, Barbara of Rainelle; four daughters, Dee Mullins and husband, Rusty of Meadow Bridge, Bev McClure and husband, Joe of Rainelle, Pam Mullins and husband, Frank of Meadow Bridge and Cynthia Boggess of Lewisburg; two brothers, Roscoe McQuain and wife, Penny of Rainelle and Mike McQuain and wife, Hilda of Hurricane; four sisters, Betty Dillon and husband, Bob of Baltimore, Md., Charlotte Finigan and husband, Nate of Alta Gail Hanshew and husband, Gary of Green Sulphur and Thelma Black of North Carolina; two step brothers, George Hall of Rainelle and Paul Hall of McRoss; two step sisters, Frances White of New York and Nancy Kennedy of Philadelphia, Pa.; 19 grandchildren, Reney Allen Cordial, IV and Charity Richmond, Emily and Aimee Cordial, Joe and Keith Martin, Keith Cordial Jr. and wife, Amanda, Sara Gladwell and husband, Mason, Jamie Hanshew and husband, Neil, Mahala and James William Mullins, Kim-Kim Cordial and Junior Donaldson, Timmy Shane Battista, Stevie and Kawana McClure, Tiffany and Billy Trump, Patricia Mullins, Roy Boggess and wife, Shawna and Fawnia Jackson and husband, Paul; 18 great-grandchildren, Isahia Shannon, Victoria Francis, Reney Allen Cordial, V, and Nicholas Cordial, Lucias Cordial, Mason Gladwell, Madison Hanshew, Landon James, Seaton Mullins, Keana and Whitney Donaldson, Ivy, Ian and Izu McClure, Paige and Auston McClure, Makayla and Alexis Anderson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Smathers Funeral Chapel with Pastor Keith Shumaker officiating. Burial will follow in the Wickline cemetery at Meadow Bridge and conclude with the release of the White Flights.

Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Hattie ‘Mae’ Critchley

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS — Hattie “Mae” Critchley, age 67, passed away Sunday morning, Feb. 4, 2007, in Lewis-Gale Hospital in Salem, Va., after an extended illness.

Born Feb. 10, 1939, at Clifftop, she was the daughter of the late Porter and Nora Thompson Barnett.

Ms. Critchley was of the Protestant faith. She was a homemaker and a loving mother and grandmother.

Survivors include two daughters, Theresa Critchley-Edwards of Beckley, and Karen Jackson of Beaver; a son, James Critchley of White Sulphur Springs; a brother, Porter Barnett Jr. of Maplewood; and three sisters, Ruth Martin and Juanita Martin of Danese, and Ethel Brewer of Crab Orchard. Also surviving are four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 5 p.m. Friday at the chapel of Shanklin Funeral Home, White Sulphur Springs.

The family will receive their friends from 4 p.m. until time of the service Friday at the chapel.

There will be a private burial for the family.

Shanklin Funeral Home, White Sulphur Springs is serving the family.

Alberta Carolyn Williams Dotson

PAX — Alberta Carolyn Williams Dotson, 58, died Monday, Feb. 5, 2007, at Charleston Area Medical Center Memorial Division, Charles-ton, following a long illness.

Born March 4, 1948, at Morris Creek, Kanawha County, she was a daughter of the late Elmer L. and Agnes Wriston Williams.

Mrs. Dotson was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Dotson; two sisters, Delana Williams, and Alfreda Warwick; a brother, Jerry L. Williams; and four infant brothers.

Survivors include a son, Stuart Wayne Dotson and wife, Angela of Rt. 1, Mount Hope; a grandson, Robert Dotson, whom she loved dearly, of Rt. 1, Mount Hope; three brothers, Robert (Dolly) Williams of Dearborn, Mich., Lawrence Ray (Barbara) Williams of Wirtland, Ky. and Wayne (Leigh) Williams of Taylor, Mich.; four sisters, Louanna Dicken of Mount Hope, Brenda (Billy) Reese of Oak Hill, Roberta Stover of Pax, and Mereda Williams of Pax; special uncle, Ordie Wriston of Warren, Mich.; many special nieces, nephews and cousins. Service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Tyree Funeral Home, Mount Hope, with the Rev. Jerry Tyree officiating. Burial will follow in Moles cemetery at Artie.

Friends may call 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Tyree Funeral Home, Mount Hope.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Millie Faini

“Find a safe place and stay there: Good advice for a long life.”

That was 123 Westwood Drive, the home of Millie Faini, who passed away on Friday, Feb. 2, 2007, after a long and good life, at the age of 95. She was known to her family and many friends as simply “Mam Maw.” When she opened her door, you immediately became, at that moment, the most important person in her life. She would embrace visitors with excitement and delight. Mam Maw possessed a fierce grace and determined spirit. She was a very proud mother, grandmother and great-great grandmother. She was faithfully the family’s constant defender … sharing their accomplishments with friends … and scolding them when she was concerned about their life or decisions. Her love for family was as clear and unflinching as her voice. Her love for friends was the same … She made our world a better place and we shall all miss her terribly …

Born Mildred Dorothy Jarrell on Jan. 20, 1912, at Naoma, she was the daughter of the late Marshall Lewis and Laura Belle Jarrell.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Pete Faini; a daughter, Betty Lee Ratliff; a grandson, Richard Ratliff; and a granddaughter, Robin Lee Blankenship.

Millie was the beloved Mother of William Myles and his wife Katie of Glen White; a daughter, Regina Keadle and her husband Tom of Beckley; loving Mam Maw to her grandchildren: Kelly Austin and her husband Gary of Ft. Worth, TX., Allyson Venable and her husband Randy of Beckley, John Robert Ratliff of Hinton, Nancy Stover of Fairbanks, Alaska, Vicky Stone and her husband Harold of Daniels and Laura Allen and her husband Jim of Memphis, TN.; sisters, Maxine Kirk of Hinton and Nancy Raich and her husband Stan of St. Augustine, FL.; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; her dear friends, Frances Hurtte, Billie Weis and Naomi Hajash, all of Beckley.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Melton Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Adeeb Khalil officiating. Entombment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum

Friends may call today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the mortuary and one hour prior to the services on Thursday.

Pallbearers will be Todd Canterbury, Mike Atterson, Jason and Garrett Stover, Harold Stone and Randy Venable. Lee Hart will serve as an honorary pallbearer. Online condolences may be sent to the family at melton@wvdsl.net.

FAYETTEVILLE — Jimecia Maxine Gill, 33, died Monday, Feb. 5, 2007, following an automobile accident at Ona. She is the daughter of Patty Lunsford and the late Jimmy Lunsford.

Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at High Lawn Funeral Home Chapel, Oak Hill. Friends may call one hour prior to the service Thursday at the funeral home.
