Paul G. Asbury
PEORIA, ARIZ. — Paul G. Asbury, formerly of Beckley, passed away Nov. 21, 2005.
Born June 29, 1947 at Dry Creek, he was the son of Melba Asbury of Beaver, and the late Quentin Asbury.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Brenda; a daughter, Kimberly Stein; and four grandchildren, all residing in Peoria. He is also survived by a brother, Fred Asbury of Memphis, Tenn.; a sister, Emily Higgins of Lexington, Va.; aunts Patricia Harper of Beckley, Esther Brown of Buckeye, Ariz., and Peggy Bailey of Lewisville, Ark.; uncles James Bone of New Lexington, Ohio, Dean Bone of Dry Creek, David Bone of Royal Oaks, Mich., Dennis Bone of Madison, N.J.; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
Paul will always be remembered for his indomitable spirit, his love of laughter and the extreme generosity shown to everyone he met. A veteran of the Vietnam conflict, he owned a successful landscaping business at the time of his death.
Private services will be conducted at the Veterans cemetery in Phoenix, Ariz., Wednesday at 12:30 p.m.

Larry Donald Bolin
Larry Donald Bolin, 85, of Beckley, died Monday, Nov. 28, 2005 at Greenbrier Medical Center in Fairlea after a long illness.
He was born February 27, 1920 in Greenville, a son of the late Tom Bolin and Maggie Ballard Bolin.
Mr. Bolin was a former mechanic for Appalachian Power Company and Beckley Manufacturing. He retired from Earehart Enterprises. He was a member of the Baptist faith.
Bolin was preceded in death by a sister, Eunice Bostick.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Neda Thompson Bolin; two daughters, Linda Belcher and husband Tom of Skelton and Judy Kay Bolin-Browning of Ronceverte; three grandchildren, Tonya Payne and husband Mark, Larry Belcher and Jason Belcher.
Graveside rites and burial will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Campground cemetery at Creamery with Pastor Roger Pauley officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral Home

FRANKFORD — Elbert Eugene “Gene” Bonner, 74, passed away Sunday, Nov. 28, 2005, at his home after a short illness.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg with the Rev. Youel Altizer and the Rev. Mark Brandon officiating. Burial will be at Wallace Memorial cemetery at Clintonville with full military honors.

CRAIGSVILLE — J. David Brown, 79, died Sunday, Nov. 27, 2005.
Private graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Craigsville cemetery with the Rev. Eddie Groves officiating. Interment will follow.

Richard ‘Ricky Moe’ Cline, Jr.
Richard “Ricky Moe” Cline, Jr., 34, died Saturday, Nov. 26, 2005, at his home in Wharncliffe.
He was born August 8, 1971 in Man, the son of Richard Sr. and Joann Sparks Cline.
He was a truck driver and of the Church of God faith.
Mr. Cline was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Arthur Sparks; and paternal grandparents, Edward and Alta Cline; and an uncle, Joe Cline.
Survivors include his parents, Richard Sr. and Joann Cline; maternal grandmother, Opal Sparks; two brothers, Garrett (Erica) Cline and David (Eve) Sparks. Also, five nieces, Jessica Nicole Cline of Bristol, Tenn., and Hannah Cline, Cassidy Cline, Patrisha Sparks and Ashley Sparks, all of Wharncliffe.
Services will be Thursday at the Ben Creek Free Pentecostal Holiness Church at Wharncliffe at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Denny May and the Rev. Roy Lee Lester. Burial will be in the Hatfield cemetery in Sharon Heights, Hampden.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Lee “Humpy” Ellis, Nicholas Christian, Jack Browning, Faron Cline, Derrick Dingess and Buddy Wayne Browning. Honorary pallbearers are Clinton Michael Trent, Garrett Cline, David Sparks and Gary Lee “George” Sparks.

Jennings K. Groves
CANVAS — Jennings K. Groves, 77, died Sunday, Nov. 27 2005, in the Summersville Memorial Hospital.
He was the son of the late Harrison and Clara Rader Groves and was born at Canvas, Dec. 18, 1927.
He was a coal miner, member of the United Mine Workers and the Jordan Chapel United Methodist Church at Canvas. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by brothers William and Harrison E. Groves Jr.; and a sister, Eunice Conley.
Surviving are his wife, Jean Knapp Groves; a daughter, Rebecca Bailey of Canvas; two sons, Gary Groves of Canvas and John D. Groves of Covington, Va.; a step-son, Richard Wayne McKinney of Spring, Texas. Also, one brother, Gerald Groves of Nettie; and one sister, Genevee O’Dell of Nettie; 11 grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and two very special cousins, Terry Groves and David Meadows; and many favorite nieces and nephews. Last but not least, he was a beloved husband, father and friend. Another hero has fallen!
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Waters Funeral Chapel at Summersville with Pastor Dennis Chasteen officiating. Burial will follow in the Groves Family cemetery at Canvas. Friends may call at the funeral chapel from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

SUMMERSVILLE — Virginia B. Legg, 85, died Saturday, Nov. 26, 2005, at home following a long illness.
Born in Burnwell on January 12, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Lonnie E. and Ada Vanice Vealey Bradley.
She was a registered nurse and graduate of Kanawha Valley Hospital School of Nursing and a member of the Summersville Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by five brothers; Lester, Lonnie, Duon, Charles and Bill Bradley.
Surviving are her husband, Lewis J. Legg; two daughters, Nancy L. Kinser of Richwood and Deborah L Parsons of Ripley. Also three sisters, Lessie Burgess of Chesapeake, Gwen O’Dell of Ashland, Ky., and Grace McKinney of Ridgeway, Va. Mrs. Legg is also survived by eight grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and one great great grandson.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Summersville Baptist Church with Dr. Phil Smith and the Rev. Nelson Harris officiating. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. in the Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens Chapel at Glasgow. Friends may call today at the Waters Funeral Chapel in Summersville from 6 to 8 p.m.

Beryl Henderson Lucas
HIGHLAND, MICH. — Beryl Henderson Lucas, 84, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Nov. 24, 2005, in Livonia, Michigan.
Born March 17, 1921 in England, she was the daughter of the late Hugh M. and Dorothy Rogers Henderson.
She was a “war bride,” having met and married her husband Sidney while he was stationed in England during World War II. She was a homemaker.
Beryl is survived by her beloved husband Sidney C. Lucas, formerly of Oak Hill; one son, John (Christine) Lucas; and two daughters Karen (Richard) Paul and Kimberly (Matthew) Pisko. She was the dear grandmother of John E. Lucas, Erin and Christopher Paul and Mackenzie Pisko. Also surviving are two sisters-in-law, Mary Jane (James) King of Oak Hill and Gloria (C.V.) Meeks of Miami, Florida.
A private service will be held out of the country.
